It's also annoying to see people pretending like medieval Europe wasn't diverse, especially the city of Kuttenberg. Pretending like the city had nothing but "whites" is laughably ahistorical.
@@rappakalja5295this is a ridiculous take. It was very homogeneous especially from an American perspective (grouping different Europes ethnicities as white). It was an overwhelmingly white area. It is also in central Europe, not a coastal city so traders from other continents would also be an extreme rarity (their wares would arrive with other European traders). Some Jews (who were expelled from Kuttenberg) and gypsies that startet to settle in the area around that time would make sense (do Americans consider them white?). People who pretend Central Europe during this time wasn’t overwhelmingly White are delusional.
As a black man, I have replayed KCD at least 30 times, the authenticity to the source material is the whole point. It is supposed to be a realistic depiction of medieval of bohemia.
Thank you my brother. Yes, probably there was few of Nubians (or how call black people in that time), but they were exc. traders on their way, not locals. In Bohemia i think they found only 1 middle age grave of woman with african features.
@@23Disciple Nubians were a specific culture of Africans. If you want to refer to black people at the time, just call them Africans. Atlantic slave trade didn't exist when this game takes place

I think first and foremost people need to specify what they mean with "diversity". The American definition of "diversity" usually means more "girlbosses", black people and LGBT. Everyone else usually means more ethnicities; that are defined by their country, language, culture and religion. If Kingdom Come 2 decided to include French, Italians or Austrians going on a pilgrimage, or the rare Arab or Mongolian that are part of a trade coalition, it would fit the criteria of "diversity" while still being historically accurate. The only "issue" with this is that it wouldn't satisfy the American people that have come to associate "diversity" with a very narrow definition of that word. Those people should keep in mind the world doesn't revolve around them, their politics and worldviews, and true diversity starts with accepting that reality.
@@aleshain5479 You guys seriously going to act like this Woke ideology doesn't exist in Europe?? Its MUCH worse in Europe. And the word "Diversity" is used in the EXACT same way there. Irish and British Politicians are constantly calling for more "Diversity".

As a history teacher, this is nitpicking at best. If it’s a game set in an historical period, then they should stick to that. Were there Africans in medieval Bohemian? Very very very few as a matter of fact, the term “people of color” is very broad during this time, Cumans could have sometimes been classified as a person of color due to the tone of their skin. Bohemian during this time was overwhelmingly Czech and German. This is historical fact. Shame on them for trying to inject their shitty narrative into a video game. Rant over!
The question is what would be doing an african in Bohemia in this period? If North African, they were muslims and were at constant war with southern European nations, so their access to mainland Europe is almost discarded. And don´t get me started with Sub-Saharian Africa, whose entire population not only did not know what Europe was, but moors (north africans) used them as slaves in what is nowadays Mauritania. So a subsaharian person freely travelling through the land of the moors, then through all of Europe to get to Bohemia is beyond fiction, just plain ridiculous. And is not like they knew how to sail either (as if that would change something, they would hvae been intercepted by moors on the sea anyways).
Greetings from Germany, Hello, fellow history teacher. I think, that you said near everything, that I had on my mind. A game with a historical setting, shoud be believable at least. And for diversity; if historical accurate, it may even be more "ra***t" than not including it. Or better said, it might hurt the feelings of those who asked for it. The "Mohr" was not very commen in 1400 Bohemia if at all. And Islam was still far away (Konstantinopel was still christian, for the next 40 years). The only diversity that might has a place in the game, woud be the jews. (And this woud be around 11 years, after the Parger Progrom.)
@@arturoroldan4839you're manufacturing your own idea of historical prejudice. Travelers from faraway lands, including muslims, weren't persecuted. The term "people of color" is actually denigrating and perpetuates racism. Wtf happened to judging people based on their character? Now, a "person of color" is identical to the next because of arbitray reasons in the eyes of those who use the term. Identity politics is the regression of a civilized society. It's ridiculous that it has been adopted. It's also terribly ignorant to view history with a lens from modern-day politics. These people are infuriating.
Please explain Czech history from the 14th and 15th centuries...provide more than the workings of the holy roman empire but the actually make up of society, with primary writings and documentation. I bet you can't. You have been told how it happened, or think you know from scant sources. Your assumptions are logical, and probably close to as truthful as we can get but it doesn't mean you aren't "rewriting" history. Historians are like astronomers...they speak in a tone of truth, when their evidence is lacking and almost surely wrong, even if closer to right than anybody else. History is the endeavor to be the least wrong.
Outrage generates interest. Outrage provides cover. Even after some only cursory interest in this whole -debacle- debate, I have come to the conclusion that there are only two groups of people peddling this "diversity" exaggeration... and none of them are interested in "social justice". One are the pure selfish outrage merchants, who use it to generate clicks and publicity. It doesn't matter which "side" they are on... it's the same for the "this game is bad for having the option to include certain groups" or the "this game is bad for excluding certain groups" people. The other is creators who are just bad at their job, but use "diversity" as an excuse/deflection for criticism. Both variants are destructive, but will continue to do so as long as burning down the world profits them.
@@DerschwarzeRabe777 Nope. It was started by youtubers faking outrage and manufacturing conflict and drama. Such as this one. You'd have to be a fool for blaming the journalists for controversy created by clickbaiting youtubers.
I'm so tired of the thought process "different skin color = diversity". People never take into account cultures and backgrounds causing natural diversity. I see this and my first thought it is 'Oh, Christ. Now what? Are they complaining about representation in a country where even the minorities were white until some Vietnamese Hmong migrated in after the Vietnam war?' And they did not disappoint.
My whole issue with "diversity" based on skin color is that it is such an American-only concept. In other parts of the world, "culture" is much more tied to ethnicity and nationality and people understand "closeness" of cultures. I'm a European guy, Europe has always been wildly diverse with many different culture groups, cultures and subcultures and skin color and eye shape don't even factor into my idea of "diversity".
this kind of thing always and only attacks america and europe/russia. I've traveled to many different countries and I noticed very quickly that every other country i went to was far more homogenous and overtly "racist" than america. there is truly no reason to promote "diversity" so hard, aside from it being a subversive trick to divide and conquer target nations.
There's a really easy way to mess with these cultists internal wiring. "This game promotes native representation and will not have colonists from other continents invading its world"
Europe has plenty of diversity. Languages, cultures, foods, looks, etc. Suggesting it needs to be more "diverse" is hilarious. What they mean is get rid of native Europeans and replace them with "insert group". As if we don't have enough of that crap in real life.
Shhhhh! Accept your replacement, but don’t point out that you’re being replaced, it’s just a conspiracy theory! Out of all the ethnicities that are in the world, Europeans for some reason are the only ones that don’t have a culture! Don’t be a bigot, of course Charles iv was really named Jaquarius darius Cyrus junior cuh. We’re gonna replace nearly every person in the European set piece of media with anybody except Europeans, but if y’all do that with any other culture you’re a bigot!
@Nunya_Argo79 Europe also wasn't as closed off in the 14th-15th century as everyone thinks it was, they 100% had people from all over the Mediterranean in their countries trade roads, rivers, ports and large cities and it wouldn't have been odd to have a non white person come through the village every couple months or so and the people would have loved ti go and meet them because socialization was the major pass time of everyone They also don't give a fuck about race the way modern people do. They absolutely would have taken in a black Christian into their homes no problem because they mostly just cared if you were Christian but they weren't going to throw shit at you just because you weren't
@@Deathelement53 There could be the odd dark person or two in big cities like Prague, but in random small villages in Bohemia? Not likely. Arabs and Africans would often trade with Mediterranean countries such as Italy, Spain, Byzantine empire etc., however it wouldn't make much sense for many of them to venture so far inland to Bohemia, unless they were there as some sort of diplomat. But you're right, people back then didn't see skin colour the same way we see it now. Somehow people back then had more of an understanding of the fact that people are still people even if they have different skin colours than some people do today. "Race" wasn't really a concept before the 17th century.
@SanctusPaulus1962 what I'm saying is that if the village was on a trade road or along a river used for trade then they would see the odd dark person here or there as they traveled to say Prague
@@Deathelement53 Trust me when i say this, The HRE was not as non-european diverse as you think. Not to mention Sub-Sahara was far from actually developed enough to have strong trade routes to Europe and Arab Slave trade of Sub-Sahara was going on so i doubt blacks could get to Europe en masse.
It is EXTREMELY sad modern liberals see diversity only in skin color. Medieval Europe was one of the most diverse places in the world in all aspects, except skin color.
A good bit of it is unironically the ladder. A lot of people and a lot of specific people hate European culture and history and tradition, purely because of the ethnic backgrounds of the people involved. You will never find most media groups acting this way about African culture, Asian culture, jewish culture, Arabic culture, any culture that isn’t European culture or European descendant culture will ever get this level of unnatural hatred, and neither should they honestly, but let’s be honest here in that these big media conglomerates and its supporters have it out against, and actively advocate against, white people and white culture. So when they see a modern historical action rpg that is set right in the middle of one of the whitest possible places on earth, and there isn’t a shred of darkness in it unlike every other adaptation of similar time periods in Europe? Of course there’s gonna be people bitching and moaning and making empty threats
Shouldn't it be a complement that the place that KCD is based on actually looks like the place that it's based on accurate demographics included That being said I would love a dlc were you play as a cuman (or even a warrior from the golden horde)
The biggest problem with diversity is that people do not talk about languanges. It is truth that young man went to the world to study, but at same time they went same world. Czechs traveled around Lands of Czech Crown, french traveled around France ect. Sometimes they traveled abroad, but often they stayed homeland. That is reason why Europe is so linguistically diverse. P.S. I know that people traveled or studied around Europe, but my point was these people were rare and that is the reason, why we have so many different languages and slangs in Europe. In another words, if people call for bigger diversity in KC:D, then they should call for greeks, french, italians, germans, hungarians, moravians, silesians or sorbs and not for pygmeys, persians or japans.
They went on pilgrimages to other countries (usually places in modern day France and Italy), and nobles even went to other countries to study. These are all European countries, of course. But I could see it possible that Hans Capon might have gone to the Italian peninsula. Even hundreds of years earlier, pilgrimages were common for high born.

Maybe there's people who are secretly gay, but since it's the period it is, we obviously wouldn't know would we? :D Oh and witches! So. I think pointing fingers at KCD for it's lack of diversity is bs.
Correct. Europe is diverse enough as it is even without africans or asians present. And that's disregarding the fact that there were steppe-peoples present in the Cumans / Pechenegs present (and Hungarians originally also come from the steppes). So this american nonse can stay in the US.
Dude, after hussite wars, the elected king sent an envoy to other kings, looking for a peaceful way to resolve conflicts, like a court trial. This envoy consisted of young, capable and educated czech nobles from distinguished households. They encountered black people, in Lisboa, as slaves in cages. They were so surprised they wrote home describing these "devils", and unheard cruelty of slavery (which was banned for good 5 centuries in Bohemia). That happened decades after this story. So we have proof that even the most educated, traveled czechs did not know anything about black people, if they even heard of them, they would think it is tall tale like unicorns or dragons.
Good response. As you mentioned, there were many declarative statements in the original video without saying how one reaches there. It mostly sounded to me like Biscuit was venting emotions, which I guess is needed sometimes. My biggest problem is when we imply creators (in this case game developers) shouldn't have the right to create the game they want without external (ideological?) pressure on what an acceptable game is. Let the games be made, and then we vote with our wallets.
Why these SJW's trying to tarnish my favorite game, I love kcd for its authentic history and gameplay and am black I don't have a problem with it 🤦🏾♂️
100% agreed, and I made a comment on Sxybiscuit's video making some of the same points. One of the problems I personally had with it was her assertion that it's 'just a video game', when she has clearly displayed and said on numerous occasions that KCD means more than that to her (look at her emotional reaction to the KCD2 reveal). So which one is it? Also, one of the major SELLING POINTS of KCD is its historical accuracy, so it's much more important here than in most other games. Something that I'm surprised Sxybiscuit doesn't seem to recognize. Forcing 'diversity' (western idea of 'diversity') into it would only hurt Warhorse. Anyway, great video. Subscribed!
I'm glad for your video and comments, I live in Czech republic and I can tell Kotaku, IGN and others woke delusionists, go home and stay there, never touch our games, ever. I'd say Henry is pretty centered and split on how things and people should be. Though that's where the player of course comes in and makes choices as Henry. To me Henry is a good person who is naive and has a very basic world view making it hard for him to come to terms of what is right for that time period. He tries to give people chances and if they screw him over he'd take revenge in a sort of way. When he gets angry he's impulsive. Doesn't think things through and doesn't understand the difference in how to talk people of low to high birth. Technically he's of high birth but raised as a low birth blacksmith. Its dark, dangerous and cruel and he will do what he can to try to find his way. He suffered great loss which motivates him to help fight the invaders and to help people along the way. As someone who loves history it annoys me beyond belief when people try to put ahistorical things in games that are highly based on history and aren’t alternate history. The problem with diversity in Bohemia and that area is the geography being surrounded by mountains made trade routes less in the area compared to other European regions. There being only 3 major trade routes to Prague during the 12th century 2 coming from the northern German states and one that came from Bratislava. Subsaharan Africans would have in general a rare sight in Europe due to there only being one trade route along the Nile river. Most would have been traded by sea and all goods probably would’ve been sold in European ports and merchants in Europe would’ve taken things from there. Would there be a few blacks who would bring it more inland yes but the amount would be very low. People need to remember that diversity during this time was not a concept religious, cultural, etc would constantly get in squabbles. Most merchants would try to use rivers and seas for travel due to large quantities of bandits on roads making it very dangerous. I myself am a large portion bohemian and quite proud of it so it would greatly upset me to see a destruction of history for political purposes. Same as I would hope all people whether black Asian or white all of our histories should be respected and celebrated. Not modernized for losers who have no respect for our ancestors and of history. Just because of politics it’s disgusting.
I still find it funny how a game company decides to make a games selling point on historical accuracy and somehow people are desperate to make it not historically acurate because they want their politics seen in it.
The more people try to force this ideology on me, the less I can accept people who adhere to it. I don't buy games from distributors or developers who try to do that.
I think Metatron hit this one on the head. Historically there could have been people form other parts in Kuttenburg, but the first games setting? not a chance. Kuttenburg at this time had a university and people from all over would travel to universities to study. So it's possible you might have a couple POC's from various regions in Kuttenburg. But it would be unrealistic to say more than like 2 in the entire city were from Africa. and that might be a stretch during this time period. after all we are talking about the heart of Europe, not the coast, but the heart. It's less likely you'd have any diversity or very very very few if any.
I thought it'd be pretty cool to find like a Japanese samurai as an Easter egg that's hidden away and you can get a full set of samurai armor and a katana like a secret boss fight is a whole new set of combat mechanics you have to fight against
I'm of an old school mindset, I also watch sxybiscuit's video's and enjoy quite a few, with that said, I am also in favor of if you want to see something, and no one else is doing it? Then make it! If there is such a need for diversity and anyone affected by straight white men making things that other's enjoy, would that not be in some cases (bringing jobs) a life changing decision to create what you want for others who want the same thing? Just dipping into already established history, gender, skin color, sexuality etc so you can feel included while alienating others is plain lazy and disrespectful.
It was interesting to view this video. When I watched SxyBiscuit's video, I did not really feel that they were trying to say that it needed more diversity than historically allowed. I enjoyed your rather level headed response to the whole situation.
Ah, how I wish humans could be civilized. I agree. I have found caving to demand for race/gender varriation ect to not help a game and at times harm it. The focus needs to be the narrative and core gameplay mechanics. I loved the first game. I want the next one to be as immersive - that was my draw. I have enjoyed the woman's lot dlc and spent many real world hours playing as Teresa. It was a well done project. I have met and befriended many people of various races, orientations genders ect. To me that's nothing- I enjoy who each is as a person and seeing different cultures through them. It was something I liked about Assassin's creed until they compromised so much to outside pressure (and the all might $) I dropped the franchise. Sad. Open world single player is my main stay. Really. If you want to get down to it the people spouting the crap about diversity should consider if perhaps they themselves are the racist. True diversity in today's culture is the acceptance of all and not whining that colour or something comes over the individual's creation. For gosh sakes! make your own story in whatever way you like. I know several creators on TH-cam or other platforms that i have enjoyed and they have homosexuals in as the main characters 🙄. They are well written and as engaging as the best I've read/ seen. Quality. I'm not about to insist they change girl girl to boy boy or boy girl ect. Their work of art. It's good. End of the matter. If you feel a lack of diverse content get out there. Make your own. Let's see what you can do. Don't take a crap on someone else's hard work.
Europe is one of the most diverse places on earth, yes we are mainly dominated by Indo-europeans but all people have their own history, unique Genetics and language Unlike America which barely have anything but English, they eradicated everything else I hate the idea of "white" I am not white I am Heattic, sure call me Scandinavian, sure call me Germanic but I share as much identity with Indians and Persians as I do French people or Slavs. If anything call us Indo-european, a Persian is not less white of skin then a Greek, Italian or Spaniard. The whole white thing is as stupid as grouping all east Asians together as "Yellow"
thats the whole problem of modern politics with their culture war. They will actively fight this fact and reduce everyone to the tone of their skin. They want us to gulp down their propaganda that europeans never had culture or diversity in culture. No we just whitey and we bad
You are TOTALLY wrong about America only being English…. That was true with the government and earlier in history, but America IS the melting pot and is a land of total immigrants besides the native still here. SOOOO many people from ALL OVER the world… from every part of the world.
We need more diversity in certain things in the game, like weather, clothing, armour and weapons, flora and fauna, food, dialogue options...THAT'S IT THOUGH! Trying to Shoehorn modern social "norms" into a historically accurate game set in the 1400's just for the sake of it is utterly absurd to me too.
I think Kingdom Of Heaven did diversity in a medieval setting pretty well, but in that case it was a bunch of crusaders coming back, so you had people from all different backgrounds who'd come with Balien's father, at no point did it feel forced. So that may be an effective way to bring diversity in, so long as it isnt just a character who Henry can acknowledge and then ignore for the rest of the game. One of the biggest problems for diversity in my opinion is the fact the game's set in Bohemia, pretty much as land locked in Europe as you can get, not many easy sea or trade routes to follow. I feel like it would be nice for their to be a little bit of flavour, as long as it is based on the people who'd have a genuine reason to be in Bohemia, such as the German in the opening of the game. Maybe even some foreign mercenaries or something like that. It doesn't have to be a hard no, but also doesn't have to be a resounding yes. And could be a way to access some unique gear or missions which would be neat to have, So long as theirs a historical reason, I see no reason why their cant be a few interesting charcacters. But it shouldn't effect the general make up of a very geographically isolated Kingdom
I think you and I are some of the most loyal fans to KCD1. I have right at 1400 hours and am doing a let's play on my channel which is nowhere near as big as yours. I am somewhat surprised that SexyBiscuit would get into this topic since he or she, I cannot remember which, really loved the first game and has spent time with Tobi from Warhorse Studios and others. But since he or she is transgender I guess I should not have been surprised. There were very few black people in Central Europe at this time. Trying to say there were more is just people lying to themselves. If they had been wandering around, they would likely have been attacked, rightly or wrongly, for being different. People were not as tolerant then. Metatron has a video on this and completely debunks this whole idea of diversity in 1403 Bohemia. And yes, for people who think this didn't come up, it definitely did come up when the first game was being released and yes, they have brought it up again this time as well. Daniel Vavra said he is going to be as historically accurate as possible. If people don't like it, they are free to go make their own game.
I just wanted to make a video discussing the topic nothing to do with me being trans just a discussion and I agree with the historical accuracy thing also she/her
The game has and will have people from different countries, different customs and traditions! Just because their skin is the same doesnt mean its not diverse. From my point of view, game journalists are the racists! They only think of their skin color and not based on their traditions and customs. An african person ending up having white kids doesnt mean they are now different, just different color which doesnt matter!!! Its all about culture and game journalists complaining about how european countries is not diversity because of skin color is racist. They are different in terms of how they live their life. Appearance does not matter!
I agree with you 100%. Also, I gotta say, you did a great job of making your point well heard and carefully covering your ass simultaneously in this video, lol. The internet is a silly place.
You are TOTALLY wrong about subsaharian africans in Bohemia in this period. And is not like they knew how to sail either (as if that would change something, they would have been intercepted by moors on the sea anyways). Subsaharians in Bohemia in this period is pure american pop culture based nonsense, since everything in the USA regarding race is Europeans vs Subsaharians.
"If North African, they were muslims and were at constant war with southern European nations" Straight up propaganda. Muslims traded more with Europeans than they fought wars.
Not fully true, they were exc. traders on their way, sure not local living. Actually, archeologists found 1 grave with woman with african features from middle age in Bohemia.
@@23Disciple They have not done a genetic study of such woman. It all came from asumptions about her origin due to certain features of the skull. I have seen the skull myself and it does not look like a subsaharian skull either. It looks super strange, I admit that. Never seen one like that before.
@arturoroldan4839 Possibly not in this period, but Ethiopians would travel to Europe and even head to and past the Alps on pilgrimages and travel to monasteries to study and practice their faith in the 1500s. Would it be a stretch to say they would be in Bohemia in the 1300s? Possibly, but Sub Saharan Africans did know about Europe and did travel but in the 1300s I am not sure.
@@BeagleBops The period you are talking about is the Reinassance, the 16th Century. VASTLY different than the early 15th, you have to understand that the game takes place in 1403, and Columbus went to America in 1492, that action completely changed the way sea travelling was done. The period you are talking about is the mid/late 1500's. I can even show you some pictutes of some italian aristocrats from that period with "negro" pages due to this travels, but before? Having a main character NPC pal that is some kind of foreign dignitary could be very neat! And maybe a merchant friend of some kind from some faroff land. Could be neat.
Actually, Warhorse already stated unambiguously that the publisher gave them freedom to do as they pleased, and they don't really need to cater to a wider audience for KCD2 to be a success. So I wholeheartedly hope that KCD 2 is more diverse, and that Warhorse studios have the gonads to show exactly what that means in medieval Europe. Show a small jew community, how they were barely tolerated or openly hated for the money lending practices common at the time. Get an escort mission in which some rabble attacks a jew merchant you are protecting and get the baddies explain the historical context of all the above. Get some theological debate in the university between some muslim scholar and Christian theologians, and show how they saw each other and in the eyes of the plebs... that would be truly interesting. Show the white slave trade common in the area at the time, throw some black slaves owned by some foreign trader and show how all of them how they were treated and how people ended as slaves in foreign countries. I'll pay good money for a historical depiction of any and all of the above in KCD.
There wasn't white slave trade in that area, this was in 9-10th century and it was cancelled by saint Adalbert. Anyway Czech slave hunter's and Prague slavery is interesting topic. But still not 15th century.
@@holextv5595 Lol, no. Christians nations forbade Christian slaves, Muslims nations forbade Muslim slaves, but it was a-ok to have slaves from other faiths. Incidently, local heresies count as "others", so if the Waldesians from KCD 1 ever got caught is was going to be either burning at the stake or sold as slaves. Besides that, slavery was widespread at the time in the Balkans, a short stone throw from Bohemia and persisted for a very long time (specifically until the fall of the Ottoman empire @early XX century). According to wikipedia, 2.5 million slaves were traded in the Black Sea slave trade between 1453 to 1700, way past the KCD timeline, and before that it was even worse.

I find this whole diversity thing interesting so I did some digging and found a video by an Austrian youtuber on how these demands sound from the position of a Central European. I found a lot of his points extremely surprising but also understandable in regards to the Nazi overtones that discussion about ethnicity has in central Europe. Video: th-cam.com/video/xLir15m1wZw/w-d-xo.html
My favorite argument I saw from game journalists back when the first game released was that a black merchant traveling through Europe could have easily had a kid or two with the local population and boom black people in Europe. I had to sit there and process the absurdity of a game journalist crying out against ‘racism’ just said that black representation could have been portrayed because a black man knocked up a woman and abandoned the resulting kids.
I strongly believe in diversity. Diversity, however, is not just making sure every piece of media includes every possible race of people. Respecting diversity also means letting native people tell their own stories in their own way. This game was conceived, written, and developed by Czech people, living in their native land, who are telling the history of their own land and their own people. And that should be respected.
That's what made me fascinated in the game, the authenticity of other cultures that didn't exist at that time... If they change that, the game won't be as interesting
I am absolutely "sick and tired" of all this Diversity and inclusive BS being shoved down all our throats on just about EVERYTHING! Give me a beautiful game, great story, big map to explore and frankly "leave this world" of everything they are trying to shove down our throats by escaping into a "GAME". For the love of God, just make a GAME! I love KCD's historic accuracy so much, I have watched so many videos on it. I 100% support this view you have as I feel the same way. I don't care what color the toon I'm playing is, if they are a man or woman, I want a FUN GAME. This is why I will never buy a WOKE "everything is racist" game. I watch SxyBiscuit's videos too, and I did not support her view at all, will I stop watching her? No, that is HER opinion which does not effect my life one bit, I just don't agree with it for a video game. Jesus Christ be praised!
the people asking for more diversity are actually the racists since they basically claim that all Europeans, because they're white, are all the same. They're not, obviously.
Good video on this. I’m kind of over this topic now and I just want to play the game. I trust Warhorse that they have made another authentic (it’s only a video game so of course that word needs to be understood in that context) and immersive experience.
Sxy biscuit is trans so when I saw the video pop up in my recommendation I saw the title and just didn't bother I had a pretty clear understanding that they were going to have a take I didn't want to hear.
You really shouldn't make such sweeping statements. I'm pretty left leaning, and *Canadian* left at that. But I'm in complete agreement that a historically accurate game set in medieval Bohemia does not need to be "inclusive". The historical reality is such that what we think of today as "minorities" in such an area didn't exist; forcing inclusivity in to a situation that it simply didn't exist in is moronic. That said, throwing the occasional Moor or Arab wouldn't be the end of the world by any stretch either.
I just saw the Shogun series, taking place 200 years later than this game, there was no unfitting diversity placed in all the extras and the main actors. It was great!
I cant stand this woke beehive mindset. Leave the game alone ffs.. I actually appreciate Historical accuracy and realism on previous game. Playing as Theresa on a womans lot didn't make me mad cause I couldn't fight or ride a horse. This woke thing is getting out of hand. All my support to Warhorse ❤

Thank you! You have delineated one of the most cogent (and dare I say) adroitly defended common sense arguments against those in the gaming media who have not even taken the time to stop and think about what they are espousing. Their stated positions not only lack foresight, but a level of integrity that brings into question their capacity (or right) to comment on these types of issues.
After listening to SxyBiscuit I don't believe he was advocating for any such diversity outside of the mix of diversity that was there. That Kuttenberg and other large cities would be far more diverse historically than Rattay and Skalitz. Although he did utilize way to many words which were very muddled. Which isn't unusual for SxyBiscuit.
I like history authenticity in games like kcd. It'd be cool, however, to have a similarly styled game in other parts of the world, like Persia, medieval china or something. just to see more of the world in general through the lens of different games with the same historical authenticity
I'm not well read in late Medieval Czech/Bohemian/German history, but I would expect at least a few people with different nationalities/ethnicities in bigger cities as traders for example. I have some doubts about them likely being met with violence. Trade has throughout history been very important. You wouldn't expect many of them, probably, but some.
Yes. But question is, if developers have some duty to apply this kind of foreigners who were so rare and mostly werent citisens of those cities but only "visitors". Where is some logic and freedom for developers.
Historical accuracy is important woman’s lot was well done in showing it. If they do diversity it should be a dlc. Diversity is not just about ethnicity.
Who gives a shit about diversity I am from Asia not even Christian, why should they be expected to include what wasn't there to begin with. Played and enjoyed the original game 4 times.
Look, I'm just gonna say it cuz I'm not gonna pretend to understand both sides, people need to shut up about diversity, especially in historical settings. I'm saying this a minority myself (pacific Islander). Like, academically, it makes no sense because there's little substantial evidence. Logically, from a gaming perspective, it makes little sense because why would the race of an npc or main character change the way you play unless you get really racist and give africans a speed buff. Then even politically, it makes no sense because the ideology of the past was so antithetical to the modern progressive ideology that putting in diversity would just make the minorities be abused and give them a reason to hate the game.
Well actually is different races DO have different strengths, weaknesses and plain generalized different things with our cultures. It’s actually true many sub Saharan Africans have faster twitch muscle fibers out performing other races with at least short-fast sprinting. There are many studies on the differences and there are stereotypes because they are true to a certain percentage. It’s fine, it’s cool. We’re all different. And groups tend to be more homogeneous genetically. Nothing wrong with that. The important thing is we all respect each other and just know from individual to individual we are VASTLY different than each other.
@christopherkucia1071 A lot of those strengths and weaknesses are only prominent in very advanced athletics. In any medieval setting without modern nutrition and training those differences would be minimal. Skill and ability will be more based on an individuals lived background than their race in this time period. A good example is slavery in the American south. People wonder how they were able to maintain a decently large slave population with minimal man power on these plantations. Ofc part of it was being armed, but even beyond that, Europeans and European descended people tended to be larger and stronger than their African descended slaves because they had better and consistent diets by comparison. It wasn't until the modern era you started seeing Africans achieving their modern athletics results, as until they started to industrialize or live in industrial countries they weren't eating enough good nutrition to properly grow and develop.
God damn, i hate the word "diversity" so much. That's a game, made vor entertainment and fun. @@spatrk6634it wouldn’t make lots of people happy because it’s implausible. Immersion is what KCD is about. Maybe the journalist class but not most of the fanbase. Also moors were usually North Africans so not really blah Africans (in fact they had a lot of black slaves historically).
what I want to see with KCD2 is more weapons, yes we have polearms in KCD, but they aren't really fleshed out. They're clunky and I feel could do with way more than they ended up doing. My gripe with the polearms is that they are what people would have used back then as their primary, and I feel it was not greatly shown to be that way. Sure the guards had halberds and peasants had reforged scythes, but there wasn't really anything beyond that
As I said on Sir Biscuits channel and I'll say it here. It's really not about "diversity", it's about control; a small group pushing their beliefs on a larger one. And it's just bullying by people who want their "thinkology" to be right. As far as I'm concerned, they can complain all they want. Let the market place decide whether or not "diversity" matters.

It came from the soviets actually, I think Stalin.
this kind of thing always and only attacks america and europe/russia.
"This game promotes native representation and will not have colonists from other continents invading its world"
That won't actually work, but it is a good joke 👍
I do the same with people about Columbus. "He brought some much needed diversity to the Americas! Very progressive!"
"But they are white" will be their answer, nice try anyway! They play by their own rules and definitions.
@@FordHoardso you support ethnic genocide?
@Nunya_Argo79 Europe also wasn't as closed off in the 14th-15th century as everyone thinks it was, they 100% had people from all over the Mediterranean in their countries trade roads, rivers, ports and large cities and it wouldn't have been odd to have a non white person come through the village every couple months or so and the people would have loved ti go and meet them because socialization was the major pass time of everyone
They also don't give a fuck about race the way modern people do.
Even the South Italian 'ex-viking' kingdom which was the most diverse out of all had only few arabs, a handful of muslims and jews. Nowhere close to what diversity you are suggesting.
Medieval Europe was one of the most diverse places in the world in all aspects, except skin color.
we just don't want to see whtie people, especially white men in our games
Anybody claiming to want to see black people in games like this is either a liar or just trying to ruin European history and folklore.

KCD had Cumans, Germans, Hungarians, people from Switzerland and Rome. With DLC's you could play both genders and without spoiling too much, there's also not so traditional family and relationship structures.
@@DerschwarzeRabe777 I don't know if you can make it "morally ambiguous", but it certainly makes sense for roleplay that Henry, being an average man in XV century Bohemia, maybe wouldn't be so kind to foreingners. It would be the choice between being a good and kind person or being ignorant and short-sighted, but it's a choice that makes sense.
@@dvmpld9103 Henry was very naive. All he knew was what was inside skaliz (sorry for the spelling). Many people took advantage of him because of this. His view on politics were what his friends thought. His family didn't really get political aside from acting formal around Sir Radzig and other nobles. Wasn't until you started working for nobles and were recruited by Sir radzig that Henry starts knowing more about the political landscape. Henry seems like a nice and kind person. I'd assume his parents being killed would make him hate foreigners. He also has a basic grasp of the catholic faith and scolds people for doing bad or blaspheming the church for back then.
He has much room to grow even past the end of the game where he comes to terms of what he expected from the world isn't what it is. Its dark, dangerous and cruel and he will do what he can to try to find his way. He suffered great loss which motivates him to help fight the invaders and to help people along the way. I would really rather hear about the changes to the combat system. The lock on becomes cumbersome with multiple opponents.
Well said. What a f'd up times we live in that some people lose time and energy on this type of absurd discussions. Unbelivable. Will this ever end?
Kutná Hora (Kuttenberg ) didn´t have the university. It was the most important mining city.
I'm black and its quite nice to have a game without my ilk being forced into it
I thought it'd be pretty cool to find like a Japanese samurai as an Easter egg that's hidden away and you can get a full set of samurai armor and a katana like a secret boss fight is a whole new set of combat mechanics you have to fight against
I'm of an old school mindset, I also watch sxybiscuit's video's and enjoy quite a few, with that said, I am also in favor of if you want to see something, and no one else is doing it? Then make it!
If there is such a need for diversity and anyone affected by straight white men making things that other's enjoy, would that not be in some cases (bringing jobs) a life changing decision to create what you want for others who want the same thing? Just dipping into already established history, gender, skin color, sexuality etc so you can feel included while alienating others is plain lazy and disrespectful.
I trust Daniel Vavra, whatever decision they make for the game is going to be gracefully done.
Europe is one of the most diverse places on earth, yes we are mainly dominated by Indo-europeans but all people have their own history, unique Genetics and language
Unlike America which barely have anything but English, they eradicated everything else
I hate the idea of "white" I am not white I am Heattic, sure call me Scandinavian, sure call me Germanic but I share as much identity with Indians and Persians as I do French people or Slavs.

The crusaders were portrayed so badly (like with most modern Western entertainment unfortunately).

You are TOTALLY wrong about subsaharian africans in Bohemia in this period.
And is not like they knew how to sail either (as if that would change something, they would have been intercepted by moors on the sea anyways).
Subsaharians in Bohemia in this period is pure american pop culture based nonsense, since everything in the USA regarding race is Europeans vs Subsaharians.
"If North African, they were muslims and were at constant war with southern European nations"

@arturoroldan4839 Possibly not in this period, but Ethiopians would travel to Europe and even head to and past the Alps on pilgrimages and travel to monasteries to study and practice their faith in the 1500s.
@@holextv5595 Hmm.. not sure why my reply doesn't show, so lets try again:
Christian nations forbade Christian slaves, Muslim nations forbade Muslim slaves, but it was a-ok for both to have slaves from a different religion. Incidentally, local heresies counts as "other", so for example, if the Waldesians from KCD 1 ever got caught, it was going to be either recant and forced conversion or torture until recant, then either the stake or slavery.

@@Imman1s it wasn't the case in bohemia, there's no mention or source's describing slavery in Bohemia during 15th century, you pretty much confuse ottoman slavery of Balkan Wich you now wrote in the end of the comment, but that wasn't really a case in that region.
+ The slavery literally stopped after 11th century (at most).
Bohemia didn't even had big contact with Balkan at all, for the age and social structure of bohemia I recommend very objective video "social background of pre hussite Bohemia" by Schwerpunkt.
@@holextv5595 I know, that's why I said that it was one of the ways they could show black people in bohemia (aka, owned by wealthy foreigners.. as long as they also show a statistically correct proportion of enslaved white people from the closest slave market appropriate for the period).
Not sure if my original comment was clear enough, but I wasn't talking about Bohemia (otherwise there would be no need for foreign ownership for the scenario)
I really appreciate your take on this, it's refreshing to hear someone constructing their thoughts in a way that acknowledges the other side without being super reactionary and unreasonable about it. Good video
Even though SxyBiscuit did mean well...I just cant agree with him regarding games that are intentionally trying to be historically accurate
That's how I feel I usually like his videos but his bias showed on this one
@@kylesmith7539 I wouldnt call it a bias in this case, but rather lack of knowledge considering his wording...
@@GrimmaStadguard it’s bias
@@lorddiethorn Your comment sounds like bias agains left.
SxyBiscuit has clearly shown that he lacks both historical knowledge and also knowledge abot Vavras intention with the game. Have you watched the video?
Also dedicating that someone is bias from a single and pretty bland video is a far stretch.
@@GrimmaStadguard bias everyone has it buddy. My bias is an game is going for historical accuracy than I don’t really want people in the game that didn’t have any evidence that they were in the area. You want Cumans well they are part of the Hungarian army. You want Jews on they were in the area at the time. If this game was an fantasy game do whatever want in terms of Race. However sometimes it’s helpful to have an believable world. For example elder scrolls three was said in the dark elves homeland so they dominated the world npc population
I find this whole diversity thing interesting so I did some digging and found a video by an Austrian youtuber on how these demands sound from the position of a Central European. I found a lot of his points extremely surprising but also understandable in regards to the Nazi overtones that discussion about ethnicity has in central Europe. It mainly comes from Americans who label all of Europe as "white" when we are all very different culturally/genetically
some Americans*
My favorite argument I saw from game journalists back when the first game released was that a black merchant traveling through Europe could have easily had a kid or two with the local population and boom black people in Europe.
I had to sit there and process the absurdity of a game journalist crying out against ‘racism’ just said that black representation could have been portrayed because a black man knocked up a woman and abandoned the resulting kids.
Warhorse reminds me of old school bethasda so much love and passion for there games and no corporate overlord to force them to make it unrealistic
And that should be respected.
how racist is it to insist that czech people can't make a game about czech history without including diversity-hired NPCs? extremely racist!
For the leftards, diversity means color and sex. Not language and culture
Well put.
@@TrueNorthPoliticalPulse - You are far-right, you just don't know it yet... :D
@@peterbaan9671 LOL! Hardly, but I appreciate the joke... ;)
All my support to Warhorse ❤

its preety stupid to ask about skin color diversity when the game is based in mediaeval europe...
If they have the funds they can surely add a few characters of "foreign race" with interesting backstories as to how they ended up in the east of the holy roman empire
SxyBiscuit made the video private, it’s fucking priceless 😂
When somebody says if I disagree with them that I should unsubscribe I unsubscribe immediately it's a damn shame cuz I like sexy biscuits content and I was always willing to look past him being transgender because that doesn't bother me I liked that he talked about my favorite video game but for him to call everybody disagrees with him about historically accurate being racist is total BS
I at no point said people are racist if they disagree with me!? What! I was talking about real racist comments I’d seen online not people who like historical accuracy
Lack of coloured peoples in the first game? By god those Hungarians were everywhere!
This KCD2 Drama made it clear to me, we have to get rid of the USA.

Historical accuracy is important woman’s lot was well done in showing it. If they do diversity it should be a dlc. Diversity is not just about ethnicity.
Who gives a shit about diversity
I am from Asia not even Christian, why should they be expected to include what wasn't there to begin with.

And diversity ist something 99% of players don't care about or even hate it, if it's Not fitting in the setting. So the Moral priests have noch right that everyone has to be constantly annoyed by their worldviews and feelings...
i honestly would not care if there are black people in second game explained that their are moors or whatever.
it would be weird from historical aspect that moors are in bohemia at that time, but if it made lots of people happy i would not care.
its just a game afterall
Just finished kcd today. Was truly an experience everyone should have the honor of enjoying and i cant wait for kcd 2 to release.
