Hey Chaps! Would you get the 14 or the 16??
16
14
Does the speaker sounds as good as macbook pro? If so I'm considering getting these over mac
I just wouldn't get this years. No replaceable ram, worse battery, and a OLED is not an "upgrade" compared to mini led, burn in and a reflective screen. I just hope next year they change it back up this seems very much a design over function change. Speaker upgrade and bigger track pad though is nice to see
I have the 2023 G14, probaby the g16 in white.
ASUS has done it. It looks like a Razer laptop, and will 100% be a more cost effective option than Razer. I love my 2021 model, and this is REALLY terrific progress they’ve made from them till now.
These are nowhere near the TGP of razer laptops though.
But they have to do the white model with a black keyboard
@@yuko4632 I would love that, but I will settle for an actual white keyboard unlike the previous ones, the offwhite color looks weird sometimes.
@@aoikemono6414 For the 4050 to the 4070, 100w is already pretty much limit, and any higher will have diminishing returns. So for the 14" laptops, the 90w G14 will pretty much perform the same as the 140W razer blade 14. Only the 4080 and 4090 have benefits from higher TGPs.
@@aoikemono6414 Razer's 140W TGP for the 4070 sku is false advertising, as the comment above mentioned, 90W and 140W on a 4070 will have pretty much the same level of performance.
A gaming laptop that actually looks good? That is a more than welcome change
Where are the "exhausts" of the fan located? Also the laptop is now flat when opened, while previous models lifted up a little bit to improve air flow. Don't know whether I like this design choice, but otherwise really cool design upgrade
Asus wasn't even on my radar until the 2022 G14 went on sale for $999 (6700S) a while ago, and never realized how much of a cult following it had/has. Fast forward a couple of years, and virtually all feedback was considered from customers and implemented. I ALMOST pulled the trigger on the Legion Slim 5 14" as an upgrade but boy am I glad I waited it out. This thing is gorgeous. And the only problem I have now is we have to wait.
I literally just bought the Slim 5 “14 haha I’m happy with it but I now wish I would’ve at least waited just a little bit longer. I’ll probably sell it and upgrade to one of these Asus models next year though
@@justjami9619 The Slim 5 14" is a great machine. It has really good thermals and extremely well made. Also Lenovo released a white version of the Slim 7 16" which is also an amazing machine. So MAYBE they release a white version of the Slim 5. Also HP released a gorgeous white 14" too. Also with OLED. It's the year of the 14" gaming laptop.
I had really bad experience with my old Legion 5. Now I've got an ASUS laptop and I'm loving its OLED screen (Zenbook flip, not gaming laptop).
I'm tempted to pick one of these up, but I might just grab an eGPU and keep my super thin and light laptop.
Really hoping you’d do a comparison with the current G14 and the Legion Slim 5 14in
I just got a 2024 G14 with the Ryzen 9 and the 4060 about a week ago, from Best Buy, for $1600. It’s played everything I’ve thrown at it flawlessly. It has a great RGB keyboard, excellent sound (good bass for laptop speakers) and the webcam look good (it should. It’s 1080p). So far it has exceeded my expectations in performance and also appearance. It’s a solid metal construction chassis (not plastic like so many others) and the white RGB lit keys against the silver chassis looks elegant. The OLED screen and available brightness level is amazing. Definitely happy with my purchase.
How did you get it for 1600
@@krisg900 got it at Best Buy online
its a great review, but would be better if you an provide more gaming benchmark or footage of the gameplay for a gaming laptop, thanks
Really cool to finally have a gaming laptop that looks professional. I love my MacBook Pro 2022 for its impressive battery life and performance consistency without the battery plugged in. I will continue using it, but I am definitely thinking of replacing my gaming PC desktop with this laptop. Especially considering that a big trip across Asia awaits me at the end of the year and I'm travelling relatively often.
😮 wow 👌 ASUS SMASHED it with this one! 👏
Does it have battery management like the macbook Pro? When always plugged in.?
I wanna get the G14 but still don't know if it's a good choice as I like to play some AAA games. Will wait for reviews and some pro tips if you're willing to give some 😅 but the laptop looks amazing!
I am very tempted with the full aluminum chasis, the only issue is power adapter not being usb c and potentially OLED screen - not sure if I want something that might burn after 3-5 years
and big question - why is there no vapor cooling chamber????
Any idea on the window of when u will have full reviews i am pretty interested to see the new Ryzen and the New Ultra intell chip deal with effeciency battery life ! And lovely reviews as always Tom--!
I know it's a minor detail but I think the LED line on the back shoud be going up, not down, indicating something rising, going up, growing.
Still woudi happily upgrade my M16 to that jist for the new soeakers and lighter chassis.
Compare to Legion 5slim 14, which one is better actually?
Using 2021 G14 and still works fine, hoping to switch to this soon
I would love the larger model. Brilliant!
Ill wait for it to go on sale next year especially since the model is going to be the same a tiny bit more powerful.
can you do a test g16 with rtx 4080/4090 with the macbook pro m3 max please?
ooh nice that all models get the light up slash 👀
I am definitely after screen quality and will accept a compromise on the TGP. I need to get it through peoples heads that you’re staring at this screen ALL day long. You want it to look good not fuzzy.
How is the fan noise under gaming and stress is it good to buy
looks good, can't wait for the performance review.
really curious about battery life and thermal for 4090 in such slim chassis.
It will likely perform very similar to the 2023 G14 4090, and the new Intel ultra CPU’s are supposedly much better with battery than 13th gen. I have a G14 4090 review on my channel if you’re curious.
Hello, where can I find the wallpaper on the notebook? Can you please send me a link?
ah i really would. I like how its thinner and the charging port has been moved. But i just got my g14 in Nov when i replaced my z13. Maybe ill get the 2025 model
I love this but I'm waiting for the black one to come out, the problem with white keyboards is they are hard to see during the day. I have this problem on my current XPS.
When will this be out in the uk
I regret getting a MacBook now, def like the aluminum chassis and looks like the keyboard rgb actually lights up good compared to the 22-23 white models
Gotta respect them stepping their game up this year...
Which one of g14 or g16 I should buy for graphics and motion design work?
Hi Tom. Is it touch capable and support asus pen?
Hey bro is it good for productivity ?
Any price ?
Great Video Tom, ROG have really stepped up this year. This laptop is the perfect balance between a MacBook Pro for Creators & a chunky dedicated gaming laptop for hardcore gamers.
Still have my 1st gen G14; time to upgrade!!
whats better because of cost for gpu? rtx 4070 with 90 watt tdp or the rtx 4080 with 115 watt tdp?
Is the speakers better than macbook pro 16
Please let me know as I'm looking to buy a laptop with good speakers which is not apple
Thanks
Shame they didn't keep the mini LED display of the M16 from last year. It's very very bright, and I'm a big fan of matt screens.
Are you coming back to do performance review?
My 2022 G14 is a workhorse and I’m excited to get the 2024 version
Really like this laptops, but can you still charge them with usb.c?
.. and how do you get it in the uk ?
I'm looking into converting a van and living in it full time. My current desktop is just not space efficient, and even if it was, the vibration caused by driving would not be good for the hardware. This is a very, VERY tempting solution to that problem. However, I would be sacrificing some performance as the laptop version of the 4090 is not really a 4090, it's like a 4080 in disguise, and my current desktop does have a 4090 in it. That being said, I'm very interested.
Good I was holding my urge to get 2023 with 4080. I have 2022 G14 with 6800s. 😊
i had 2022 version, amazin laptop.
Now i can see next gens each year getting better and better, own a macbook now, but def wanna test one of these.
But i believe thermals are still the issue in zephyrus series, if u arent doing office tasks, that machines become hot af
When it comes to reviewing OLED laptop displays, reviewers must besides burn-in also emphasize on pwm flickering, given latter is a huge downside for such displays, especially when employed in laptops where brightness is often set around or below 50% to extend battery life when unplugged.
90% of people aren't sensitive to PWM flickering so it doesn't really do much to point it out.
That is a rather arbitrary statement (check your sources) but even so refers to max or close to max brightness. When dimmed, flickering becomes much more prevalent, especially at low levels, which considering we are referring to laptop panels is often the case. Moreover, different OLED panels have different flickering frequencies, meaning the effect varies. Say, if the frequency of PWM flickering is high enough (e.g. above 500Hz), the effect won’t be noticeable, however, many panels employ frequencies of 200-300Hz. There are rumors pointing towards panels utilizing frequencies of >1000Hz in the years to come, though this is not the case today.
As someone using an OLED laptop, I haven't noticed this at all.
But I know ASUS made a statement recently on it in Paul's Hardware ASUS CES video where they mentioned it for their OLED panels.
@@kostaskg4819 Studies have shown that only about 10% of people are sensitive to PWM flickering of OLED in all brightness levels.
I personally don't know of anybody sensitive to PWM but I guess it may be worth it for those 10% who are sensitive.
@@user-ds8rj2vc4vand is it high ? I don’t need to notice it. It’s just really harmful whether u see it or not.
Can’t tell , but does the web cam not have a privacy shutter?
You've raised the bar for content creators.
Razer has finally been dethroned. Their Apple mentality was their own downfall. Let’s go Zephyrus!
Bruh... 🤦🏾♂️ If you think a 115 watt 4090 is going to outperform a 175 watt 4090 you are mistaken. As grown up as Asus' new lineup now looks, their top of the line Zephyrus is nowhere near the power level of Razer's top of the line 4090. They aren't even in the same league. 😂
@@b.c.b.-2130
the price isn't in the same league either
When it coming out and price?
they really did the design very well. It looks awesome and premium
The G16 is the ultimate gaming laptop at the moment, it supports Dolby vision gaming and a peak brightness of 850 nits(HDR), for a laptop it is a unique achievement, I also expect them to be relatively visible outdoors even in sunny/cloudy areas, the G14 with the performance that an rtx 4070 offers I must say that with the frame generation(DLSS 3.5) it will be able to saturate the 2.8K panel at 120Hz while the G16 will offer more power for those who also need to work with video editing and 3D graphics, as soon as the SCAR 16 arrives and 18 can you compare them with these?
That g14 is a beauty that you could take to uni without having a bulky piece of metal looking like Christmas Eve. I love this laptop.
Man, looks soo sleek, thin and yet powerful
Price for the G16 version?
Why is it cheaper in the states than the UK ? around £500 give or take ?
How do i get the most battery out of it, i dont know how
I have the ASUS ROG S15 with a 2070 Super and i7 10750H. I'm really considering getting this G14 with the 4070. Do you think its worth the upgrade?
When is the full review?
Being AMD will this support thunderbolt 4 and charging by USB c?
Im in love. if i can pick up the 14 for less than 2000€ with a 4060 (last years models go from around 2500€ and 2000€ on sale....) im finally splurging on a gaming laptop after 10 years of using the same macbook pro. I just cant get past the aluminium chasis, screen and touchpad of the macbook pro from 2013, but FINALLY a gaming laptop manufacturer has realised the importance in having solid feel and build quality. I was literally about to pick up the legion 5 slim 14 inch in a few days, which seemed like a solid choice, but now im going to wait to check prices for this one.
With 3K OLED, 120hz, 16:10, freesync, amd chip, RGB keyboard for presumably good brightness options and not some weird 3 colour zone monstrosity from 2015, good ports, portability, aluminium unibody chasis, not a Razer designed mess for 3500€, this is going to fly off the shelves. Thank god manufacturers are finally listening to what people have been wanting out of gaming laptops for years.
Where to find the link to the bigger g16
Did the M16 and G16 from last year merged?
Every TH-cam video I’ve seen about these they always say they’re going to put pricing in the description but never do, I just want to know how much they’re going to cost 😡😂
Asus seriously outdid itself. Man I cannot even BRING myself to replace my G14 with another brand. I feel like getting a G14 refresher.
Probably better off waiting for the RTX 5000 series refresh at this point.
I'm presuming going forward that these will be the new chassis and screens. So give it 12 months and pick it up with a 5070 or something instead of a 4070.
Oh yeah I am purchasing one next year and not 2024. I thought just the same. I want the newer RTX cards. @@user-ds8rj2vc4v
does it have 2 ssd slots or just 1 similar to previous models? specifically for G14
Yes it has
Thank You Thom.
This G14 refresh reminds me of Tesla's Highland Model 3 refresh! :D
i want a gaming oled tablet so much, z13, but oled and curved ages and no nonsense gamery look, like here, 120hz 2560x1600 oled 10 bit is all we need in a tablet.
My 2022 still going strong 💪🏽
could g14 be charged with type-c?
The new Zephyrus 2024, looks pretty. Maybe much like the MacBook design 😅😅
So if not the PWM flickering it would be amazing
Can it be charged via USBC?
ROGシリーズでついにOLED搭載されてとても嬉しいです!
ゲームじゃなくてビジネス用に使いたいですね。
Expected price?
I'm not even a gamer, but this looks absolutely stunning! I'd even buy one myself just because of its gorgeous gesibg and excellent build quality, display and speakers.
I love OLED and use an OLED monitor for my desktop I think I very much rather prefer LCD for my laptops. I love the Mini LED on the MacBook Pro 14 I just got. LCD and more specifically Mini LED is brighter which is important for Laptops.
I like the book included
You still haven’t done a video on the battery life yet.
according to you which is a best all rounder laptop?
still 5600x, the 65w tdp is out of the world
I just got a new job, the zephyrus was my dream laptop this is such a perfect
Pricing wasn’t dropped in description
For me just them being metal is so good!
Might have to trade in my MacBook Pro.
G16 is looking mighty fine.
Is the 2024 White or Silver?
Wish this tiny laptop wasn’t soe expensive
When is the Release?
would really love to see the pricing remain the same.
What will be the cost for a G16???
how the price?
ill see how this compares to the Costs of the Razer blade 14-2024 and then if the price is not much different i will probably go for th Razer
If I could get an AMD advantage G16 I would be very happy
Only if it had an ips panel, it would be perfect because it would not have burn in after 2 years.
Cannot upgrade the RAM? Why? To sell another product with a higher RAM next year??
Did I miss the part about when they will launch or…?
Can you please ask Asus why they decide to go with a 3k resolution on the 14inch and 2.5k on the bigger 16 inch model? That makes very little sense. Asus did such an amazing job with redesigning these laptops. That one decision, I cannot quite wrap my head around it.
@@user-pt1qe2qq8k ohh yeah. That 14" is going to be amazing. It's perfect to be honest. You don't need a 4090 in a laptop that small. And till 4070 the graph shows that they will reach their maximum performance around that 105w anyway. So you don't lose too much there. I just don't get why they decided to screw the perfectly good 16" model. I wanted to get it. But now I dunno.
@@user-pt1qe2qq8k yeah, you?
@@vs3.14what do u mean screw ? Is the resolution too high on 16?
@@michaozga7825 too high? If a smaller screen gets 3k, common sense dictates a bigger screen should get more. The reason we need higher pixel density on laptop screen is due to the way they handle the led dimming in the cheaper laptop screens as compared to your standard monitors. Last year every single (above $1.4k) 16" OLED had 3.2k resolution and 14" had 2.8k resolution screen. Rightly so. Both at 120hz.
Thank you Asus for bringing MacBook Pro quality speakers to Windows gaming laptops! I have the 2022 M16 but the battery life and heat is just atrocious. Can’t wait for the full review when they come out.
