First I g
waiting for the G16 review and hoping it releases in platinum white in other cvountries.
Same. Specifically the Intel Core Ultra 9
Love the dolly zoom at 13:08! Definitely wasn't expecting one (especially one that smooth) in a laptop review, but it looks neat!
I’ve been waiting on your review of this! Thank you!
Stellar review! Extremely condensed, probably my favorite review of yours. You're stepping up!
😁Waiting for the review for the G16, Omen, Legion 7i and Yoga Pro 9i before pulling the trigger.
Dave2D's initial review on Yoga Pro 16" 9i meteorlake looks promising!
Exactly the same choice
Haha i am waiting for pro 5i and helios neo 16 the i7 rtx 4060 version . I want to see is there any noticeable changes or not
Is Yoga Slim Pro 9i different from Yoga Pro 9i? Here in Canada we don't seem to have the Yoga Pro 9i..
Yoga Pro 9i is definitely the one I'm hoping pulls through as my laptop of choice - I saw the battery is like 50% better than last year which is a huge +.
Very informative. Was trying to find a review for this, but the majority of YT were just first impressions. Sub ❤
and sponsored.
Hey Josh, would you say that this is a better laptop than last year's Zenbook Pro 14? They're very similar it seems and feels like the same laptop in a different chassis.
I totally agree. I have come to point where I'm considering an upgrade and I've specifically been interested in the Asus G14/G16 versus the HP Omen Transcend 14. Can't wait for the Omen Transcend to arrive in the studio. Amazing review and I want to ask if you would be doing a review of the 16 inch version of the Asus Zephyrus line for 2024? Unlike the G14, the G16 for this year's Intel's Meteor Lake processesors. I'm curious to how significant the difference is when it comes to things like how much power is being drawn for it. I understand performance would likely be more but I think many viewers would want to know if the performance difference and overall experience is worth sacrificing the portability and what seems to be a dream come true of the G14 for this year.

I do like the slash is is discrete but different it is nice to see something with a unique feature instead of trying to look like every other laptop
Any word on when your 2024 G14 4060/16GB vs 4070/32GB video will be out? I’m torn as the latter isn’t available yet in Australia and the former is on sale!
my new favorite review site, very honest real world reviews, thumbs up and subbed
Great review and your recommendations and opinions at the end of this review are much appreciated. Kudos to you and your staff, once again.
I'm much more interested in the 16 inch version. Any chance that's going to get a dedicated video in the near future?
Very interested in the 16inch.
It has a dedicated GPU.

Just got my 2024 G14, been using it for a day now - so happy I bought it!! I got a great deal too - I bought an excellent condition Open-Box one for a bit under $1.3k, and the laptop & charger themselves were untouched/like-new.
Que tal las temperaturas bro?
Nice video as always. Do you prefer the oled of the G14 over the Lenovo Yoga/Slim Pro 9i mini led panel?
Thanks for the review. Please make one for the 2024 G16 Zephyrus. Especially noise and heat would be interesting.
Will do
Is the slash loud or is the lighting on the slash too loud for you guys? If its just the lighting, then turn it off. I would probably have it off most of the time unless its plugged in
Love the redesign. Just from a usability standpoint, two huge things are finally making me consider this laptop: 1. Moving the ports back so that they aren’t so far down the side of the chassis. 2. Removing the Ergo-lift hinge. I know some people liked it but as someone who actually uses their laptop on their lap around the house when doing light work on sofas, etc, this is a huge comfort thing. Most screens don’t go back 180 degrees anyway so I am not really going to be missing anything there either.
With your Netflix battery test was that running with the Igpu or the NIvida gpu? I am very interested in how long you could push the laptop on battery in quite mode with the gpu disabled. it would be nice if this new g14 could become a bit of an ultra book an times an pull numbers like the specter an pavilion in light tasks.
Will be interesting to see how this laptop goes with some tweaking. Using G-Helper etc and with bios updates. My 2022 G14 shipped with a crap bios version (power usage was high) but was much better later.
I have made two purchases based off your in depth reviews. I am happy I made the purchases. This channel needs to grow.
Thank you so much. Hearing this makes this all worth while
At 7:51 when you are showing CPU temperature where do the Macbooks M3 max and M3 pro stand?
I'm really looking forward to that new HP Omen 14 review. Coming from the HP Omen 15 from 2020 would be a great upgrade.
OMEN Transcend 14 2024 is great.
Thank you for discussing the grainy "screen door" effect on many OLED touch screen panels! It's really important to me that the screen not be grainy. Gaming OLED laptops typicially don't have the touch screen so they don't suffer from the issue. I'm still looking for an OLED touch screen that doesn't have the issue, it's so frustrating!
I like the new format but I think you should spend a bit more screen time going over the internal upgrade options.
Thank you for the feedback
I'm looking for a good all-rounder laptop. My main usage is programming but also want play some games from time to time. The display size in not taht important because I often have access to external display.
I'm debating this G14 2024 and Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i 2024.
My main concern with G14 is that OLED display degradation and burn in.
Not sure what to pick, any suggestions?
Hi Josh. I was waiting for you to drop a video on new asus rog zephyrus series. Because I was shortlisting those laptops but all the previews of these laptops were sponsored and didn't show any downside but only upsides like Linus Tech so I was waiting the laptop to be commercially available so you can review and share your thoughts on it. I really appreciate your honesty. I hope you will have time and budget to review G16 version. I turned on the notification bell and will be waiting for it.
brutal honest review keep it up
Great in-depth review. I really appreciate the content. 🎉
Thanks Luke
Great review! ❤
UK price 4070 still £2,399.99 rubbish pricing
Way overpriced
€ 2.399,00 same here. (Netherlands)
Wow.. Im surprised to see America finally profits us in money by having retail stores like besbuy having these computers on sale by hundreds of dollars.. but does that make up for the overall costs here in america? Most def not 😂
Whats the use of the CPU? I see not worth in buying a laptop with an 8945hs over a 7940hs because the 7940 hs has a wider range of sku's that you can choose from.
Which would u recommend on windows for development?
Need 14 or 14.5", 32-64gb ram, and 16 threads cpu coz im compiling a lot
Thank you so much for answering the “does the right side USB-C port charge” question. (no it doesn’t).
I will return to staring longingly at the Flow X-13
I really wish they made a flow X14
Hey Josh, your graphics score in time spy (9 121) is much lower than the ones obtained by another reviewer (EtaPrime) at 11 615, which beats last year's 4060 and Blade 14 scores in your graph.
Perhaps you have run the benchmarks in balance mode?
Asus ROG doesn't have a Balanced mode. We ran Performance. He ran Turbo. Turbo adds 15 watts (10 base and 5 boost) to get to the 90w. We found that out after. We thought those settings only affected CPU. As we already had graphics performance set to Ultimate. Anyway, we will be doing an updated video with the G14 4060. This model will be in that video, too, with updated scores. That being said.... the 4070 is underpowered compared to other 4070s out there, and Turbo mode is insanely loud, so most people will want to avoid it. I feel our conclusions hold true. I would have immediately reposted the video if I felt we were missleading
@@JustJoshTech When will you drop the video reviewing the 2024 g14 4060 16gb ram model? Debating between that option or the older 2023 model with the 4060 and 32gb ram with a 165 hz screen.
Josh, what do you mean by high performance task? Would gaming count
The g14 with the 32 ram and 8945 and 4070 is impossible to find. It is frequently replaced with the 7940hs with 16 gb ram instead. Does anyone have a link for the one advertised in the video? I’m stationed in Guam / overseas and best buy will not deliver.
Very very good channel, content. Incredible. Subbed, in the market for a 14 inch and I have no idea. (Using M2Air for work which is second to none)
Thanks Jack
It's so interesting that battery performance is the similar as plugged in despite it being the same processor as last year. Is this possible only when it's like at the higher range of the battery percentage?
Nice to see that comparison to the last years 4060 model! Interested to see if there is any difference between this years models in the gpu department. By the way, could you try to fix your microphone placement or room treatment? You have a ton of echo in your voice that sounds like it might come from reflections of your table or room (not just in this video).
We are yes. We have just got in huge sound dampening material to go above where i stand
I came here to say the same. This is driving me insane, and listening on actual speakers with a sub - makes it really uncomfortable to listen to...
Please fix, maybe with a lapel mic? :)
We are really working on this. I promise you. We even might try the Mic on camera for next one@@jcarman
@@JustJoshTech awesome, glad to hear it. I'll keep an ear out for it! Literally and figuratively!
Hp spector x360 16 review please 🙏 really enjoyed the 14 inch review and was impressed but want to know if theyre are any issues with the 16 to watch out for.

What laptop would you recommend for both gaming and programming. I'm not worried about the budget but I am however worried about the weight tho. Please help
i am very happy that i got the 2023 version with a 4080. Thanks for that Video!
do you think the 4060 version would have less heat? the GA403UV-BS92-CB comes with 32 gigs with a 4060 btw.
Sir can you reply that in which condition new HP laptops goes to 48Hz? I have seen your HP spectre video but in dynamic refresh rate it says 60 or 120hz.
So if we play Netflix video in power saving mode or 48Hz mode so we could get more battery life.
Looks really nice. Want to see the intel version though. They have that, right?
still happy with my Asus G14 2022 adn upgradable ram option (up to 40)
This G14 looks very comparable with the Zenbook Pro 14 w/ RTX 4070 from last year, which one would you recommend for around the same price??
Can't wait for the 16 inch version.
Im just waiting for next years Asus G14 Strix Halo: Threadripper power (16-core Zen 5) meets 4070M+ graphics (40CU-RDNA 3.5) in 1.5kg. sound like the perfect Laptop.
Me too, this refresh line is more of an scam than actual product.
yup same here :) Not sure if they will have the G14 in a configuration like that. They usually have a dedicated GPU. Unless they do like a G14 Halo edition....with a free copy of Halo: Master chief edition :P
Dios mio
I hope that future AMD Apu laptops will have the max ram speed (7500mt/s or even higher limit of the future Apu). Because the 780m in this year's g14 only has 6400mt/s while Intel meteor lake has around 7400mt/s.
The 7840u in gpd win max 2 and Lenovo legion go has 7500mt/s ram, so I don't know why laptop oems don't provide that speed for their laptops.
Thanks a lot for this vidéo 👍👍👍
IS this g14 good for première and After effets ?
Definitely, it's a beast
Great, great video, you are officially my favourite laptop reviewer❤
Haha, you look so happy in your thumbnail!
Do you know if Asus plans to release a non-DUO Zenbook Pro 14 for 2024?
if possible can you do a review for the asus zenbook duo 14 and would you say its better suited for work or for school
You can buy it. It is great.
I’ve just been waiting on a detailed review of the HP Omen Transcend 14 vs Asus Rog Zephyrus G14 so I can decide which one I’m gonna get. Haven’t seen any full transcend 14 reviews yet.
Same
I love dedicated "home, page up, page down, end" keys on the right-hand side of the keyboard. I hate the use of secondary functions as you need two-handed operations.
2000 that's alot 😊 I'm still witness for ces 2025 I will buy this next year
I just bought it and my BIOS updated today. I lost the default ROG wallpaper and can't find it any more. It's not in the computer. Can someone tell me how to find it?
Yesss so glad to see full reviews beginning to come out, can't wait to hopefully get one for college!! The thinness will be amazing for my use.
Maybe it's just me, but the voice audio has some sort of hollow echo to it, like there's a pipe right next to the mic you're speaking into
Were the gaming benchmarks also in Performance mode and not Turbo? Could be scoring lower because Asus didn’t tune the Performance mode well this year. But overall it seems nice, but the 2023 model seems preferable for better performance
Ok yeah, just confirmed that all the benchmarks were run in Balanced. Just watched a review that got MUCH higher scores across the board in Turbo.
I think this will cause some misconceptions in people’s heads (it already is on the G14 subreddit) that the new G14 performs terribly, when in reality Asus just tunes their Balanced (Performance) mode differently on every laptop, every year. Benchmarking Turbo to Turbo makes more sense to understand the true capabilities of a machine, especially since these are “benchmarks” after all. And then of course throw in some benchmarks in Balanced and Silent to balance things out and offer more perspective.
Overall very thorough and excellent review though! I just think it should’ve been made more clear about the Balanced/Performance mode thing, and what that means for the benchmarks provided. Also I know it’s kind of Asus’s fault too for naming their Balanced mode “Performance”. Makes no sense, so can’t be too upset about it.
Yoo it’s the other Josh! Love your reviews man 👍🏽👍🏽
@@JoshCravesTech Man, you said in your 2023 G14 4090 review to stay clear of the Turbo mode, if I recall well.
Also, it would be better to test this 2024 model with G-Helper.
But, in any case, I wonder how the new benchmarks compare to your 2023 benchmarks? Maybe it's better to get the 2023 version and slap a 48GB RAM for a 64GB total RAM. Just, can't be sure how the performance + battery life will compare.
Basically, the real importance [to me] - is performance in After Effects + Davinci. But, no one talks about it. Everyone talks only bout gaming and framerates. Irony is, the people who play games- also edit videos. Yet, no one talks about video editing performance... :\
Oh hey you're here too haha
@@Bluesky35102 he should be here. One of the only reviewers that thoroughly tested the 2023 G14 and also talked about video editing performance for Davinci, Premiere, and After Effects.
Great review. High pitch sound is no go for me.
Hey yo someone like this when the stock is updated in best buy
I'm planning to buy a new laptop. The main use is software development. What's better, Asus Zenbook 14 (2024) or Dell XPS 9440?
Can you also test battery life when screen display white content like web browsing and text editing. You'll see that those laptops with oled screens get much less battery life.
4:05 Dedicated home/end/page up/down is super useful and just so much more comfortable to use when working a lot with text (programming, writing) than a secondary function on the arrows (which are by themselves not so comfortable due to size and placement). I've never had any issues of misspressing the enter or shift keys and it is just faster to press one key with one finger than the two-handed combo.
I love everything about this laptop. Mostly the design. I never liked gaming laptop designs, the sharp edges and obsession with rgb lighting on the outside, they were clearly designed to stand out. The thickness and weight were also a secondary problem. I love the thinkness and weight of this and that you cant tell this is a gaming laptop unless you are a gamer. I also disabled the slash lighting and made a cover to hide it. The rog logo doesn't bug me because it very subtle
Will you also test the G16 modell? and will be there a omen transcend modell with 16 inch like the 14 inch modell (oled, light etc?)
Yes we will review the G16 as well as the G14 with RTX 4060
@@JustJoshTech do you also have the G16 with rtx 4080/4090? considering the amber chanber maybe the noise isnt so bad? but i dont know. Thank you!
Josh what are your thoughts on the new Omen Transcend 14?
His review is coming very soon.
I will say. It is great.
It's weird because I got to use the g14, but the 120hz panel made r6 feel choppy compared to the 2023 g14. I know the 2023 g14 has a 165hz, but the difference felt night and day...Does anyone else have a similar experience??
I can't wait for your g16 review 😅😊
Thanks for another balanced review Josh. ASUS is my choice for Windows laptops (I currently have a VivoBook S15), and the G14 is very appealing.
After purchasing the 2024 G14, I agree with everything you said except for your evaluation of the speakers. I agree that nothing is better than the Macbook, but the 2024 G14 speakers are quite full, bassy, clear, and immersive. Even the review on Linus Tech Tips gave the Macbook and the new G14 an equal evaluation on speakers. These are the BEST speakers I listened to on any Windows PC laptop. Calling them "tinny" was a strange evaluation, as they don't seem tinny to me at all...
Interesting. We actually held a 2 hour session to re listen to it side by side with the MacBook Pro 14..... and... we bought a new Mic to better reproduce laptop speakers audio for you guys. We previously were using a vocal mic to record the clips we showed you in the video. Sennheisser themselves suggested a different type of mic. Anyway, we agree the G14's speakers are great, but we still feel the MBP 14 has the edge :)
But sound is a personal thing too!
Glad you like them so much!
The Timespy score for graphics is a bit low since I think you tested it in Performance Mode. Going Turbo mode should net you over 11000 graphics score and makes it faster than the g14 of last year
yeah, iirc Turbo gives an additional 15watt TGP but I feel the 4070 is still not worth the additional money, its just not meaningfully faster than a 4060 here
Thanks for the video! I was really interested in 2024 model, but I think I'll stick with my 2023 4070 G14. Using G Helper on G14 goes a long way to make this laptop a very good experience. My G14 basically run cooler on all performance modes with undervolts and modified power limit. I especially love my modified Silent mode that I use for office work and entertainment (light use). Basically no fan needed! They never turned on, but laptop still run very cool at around 30-42 C based on CPU monitoring (comfortable keyboard temp). The only thing I want G14 to improve are the speakers, so I was really curious how 2024 speakers perform, expecting it to have macbook speakers quality. But based on your comment, I guess it's not as good as I expected it to be? I'm sure it's better than the 2023 model, but I need to hear it myself. Let's see if that Asus store near me put a 2024 G14 for display soon.
there's a very noticeable sound in the higher/mid frequency of your voice audio, try to EQ that out
Do you know what frequency it is?
Can't wait for the Omen Transcend 14 review. I'm between Asus or HP, so your review will make me decide to buy one or the other. The Omen Transcend 14 with 4070, 32BG RAM and Intel Ultra 9 is 2699 EUR in Europe 😱😱
you gonna review the G16? your review of this is excellent, but I'm looking at the bigger one because I need a larger screen and it's got the new intel chip
Yes I am
If you don't want gaming so HP spectre x360 16 2024 is best.
Amd has thrown the whole processor naming out the window with this one. Why is this called 8945 and not 8940 as it has nothing to do with the 7945.
I just want to say I love your reviews and I’ve been watching you before you had 1000 subscribers. Anyway, I wish you would’ve had the Legion slim 5 14” in the comparison graphs.
Thanks for being with me for the journey! Wow. Yes re the Slim 5 14. You are right. We felt going into the video that since this is a new AMD processor, to compare it to a variety of other processors. But by the end of the video we felt as you do.... compare it to 14inch gaming laptops. That being said. Once we get all the 14inch gaming laptops in, we will do a video of them all to compare them. So that will be very focussed
@@JustJoshTech Thanks! Can’t wait to watch the comparison. Keep up the hard work guys!
Could You put Lenovo legion 5 slim 14 into comparison chart?
Is there pass through USBC yet?
Thank you for the review! Strongly considering it...
Wait for HP OMEN Transcend 14 2024.
In Germany legion slim 5 14 with the 4060 is sometime going around for 1200.
Recommend for everyone living in germany going for the legion.
In the US, it's going for $1050 at Best Buy currently. Definitely a great option!
Add tax in US
Just ordered it 2 weeks ago in Germany, really looking forward!
ROG Flow series 2024 update waiting room
Amazing and thorough review as ever. Really enjoyed it. Good job team!
really missleading performance numbers, you should specify that they weren't measured in the highest performance mode.
I have the 2023 version of the Blade 14, the main reason I chose it was the two upgradable RAM slots, which is pretty rare in a 14" chassis. It would have been nice to have OLED as an option, but overall I have been happy with it. If you are looking for something that is 14" and upgradable, there are options out there.
I agree. Unfortunately, that, the lack of anything higher than an RTX 4070 (which is stuck with just 8 GB of vRAM) and the price increase made me not consider the G14.
I agree. I bet Razer will release a 14 inch OLED next year (2025). That Razer 14 needs those type of upgradable parts in order to beat the 2024/2025 G14.
4:04 these are not special keys, it's just a 65% layout, which is better than a shortcut with a small key. When you like a laptop you even hype up lack of features, sometimes you don't even mention it. Like the macbookpro keyboard lacking Delete key.
8:50 "I think it makes sense to top out at the 4070 this year"
>4090 maintains the best performance out of the whole RTX 40 Mobile series right down to 80W
>proceeds to demonstrate worse performance than last year's 4060 version
Um... sure?
Haha true, it seems like so many reviewers are out of touch. The 4090 is exactly what you want in a small chassis where every watt and degree counts
@@MarkoMood Are you have laptop with 4090?
This is the truth. And many reviewers always say that a 4080/4090 can’t be “cooled enough” in a small laptop, like you guys realize the die size makes the 4090 the coolest-running GPU out of all of them 😂
I’m really contemplating between the 4060 version of this and the hp omen transcend 14. Waiting to see what Josh has to say
Same
Would you guys get the 16 GB of ram version of this?
what are yalls opinion on 14 inch vs 16 inch when it comes to coding and gaming? Portability comparing these two sizes isnt really an issue for me
16”. More room for thermals, goes past 4070.
The graininess of the other oleds is due to the touch membrane I believe
Yep. Still looking for an OLED touchscreen with no grainy screen door effect
Eagerly waiting for your HP Omen Transcend 14 review! I’ve seen people are generally disappointed with HP products so I’ve always stayed away from them. However, this new Omen laptop looks amazing from the look to the balance of components used. Crossing my fingers that the Transcend 14 will be a better buy than the new G14. I have the 2022 G14 which has been a very capable laptop for me.
Yes 100% agreed. Same
That charging situation is very disappointing since Framework was able to get the same 180 watts though usb-c in the framework 16.
need to see that XPS 14 review
I'm looking forward to it too. That being said, the non-physical function row worries me
Same
Maybe I'm on the sensitive side, but the mic feedback on some of your recent videos has been making it hard for me enjoy them. I hope you can sort it out soon!
We are adding additional sound dampening on the roof of the studio this week
Josh can you give me a idea of how it performs while playing games in 4K? Considering the case of hooking it up to my TV ones in a while
This is not a very powerful gaming laptop. More 4060 level. So I would only play games in 4k if they were less demanding ones
@@JustJoshTech thanks for the reply!
So HP Omen trascend is 100$ more, this is good, they will be dropping prices both in a couple of months no wonder. Let the competition for the best 14" laptop begin!
