Yes he did, he used the heat gun to heat up the adhesive around the new back panel and then placed it on. Which means when the adhesive cools down it will "melt" into the frame and make it sealed tight. He actually did is straight from the book@@mathi6832

Apple demands entire housings be replaced, not just back glass except for on the 14 non-Pro and all 15 models. Additionally, AASPs aren't allowed to keep any iPhone parts on-hand. You have to get the serial number, submit it to Apple, and have a part shipped for that particular phone- all to make third party repair less attractive of an option for customers. So no, they aren't Apple approved, they're far better than they would be allowed to be if they were. Those screens and backs aren't from Apple, but the screens were probably salvaged from damaged iPhones and refurbished with new glass.

That's amazing work, so detailed! Puts my commodore 64 and PC board component repairs to shame. It was so easy back then, I just needed a couple of tools. Look at all that specialized equipment you have to have now!

The laser machine that I have costs around 2k euros. But I can't imagine changing the glass of an iPhone with only a heatgun... As for the programmer, are you referring to the R200, to keep the True Tone of the previous official screen on a new one ? IIRC, it's a pretty affordable thing. There's also the Clone DZ03 to keep the Face ID when you change the front camera, but it's more expensive

It's good that they finally changed this on the iPhone 14 now you don't need to remove the glass from the back panel and can just take the whole thing off makes it cheaper and less dangerous to repair

I spent 11 quid on 2 screen protectors and paid another 9 quid for an impact resistant case. That was 6 years ago. Dropped the phone hundreds of times and when I changed the screen protector last year, with the cover off, the phone still looked brand new.

Well then, as a previous Apple Store employee, I’m impressed a third party shop used the display adhesive to maintain the water resistance. You have no clue how often I’d easily open phones after a third party touched it cause they didn’t bother taking the adhesive. Kudos to you man.

Always cool to see other Tech's methods, excellent job! Only part of the repair we do different is you left the blue film on the adhesive, put the screen on, then removed it.... I take that off first since I don't like fenangling with the screen any more than necessary (not like that actually matters, I know).
I feel as though there was a reason why I started doing it that way but it’s been a while and I don’t remember why now. I seem to remember a cable sticking to the adhesive one time
Tip for all phone repair stores, always have 1 or 2 spare parts for all phones so you can help anyone that day because that's when people need it fixed. The phone shop I went to doesn't have the screens needed for my phone and I needed a usable phone for work and my only choice was to just buy a new phone (old one was giving me issues and wasn't working properly causing me stress) so needed to upgrade $2000 later and life is back to normal.
Thanks for showing that its IMPORTANT to clean off the old adhesive, and apply new. I see so many botched 3rd party repairshops leaving in the old strips, and the insides of the phone are loaded with scrotum dust
