Heat gun fix is only temporary. The GPU chips on Xenon/Zephyr boards are faulty from the manufacturer by design the only way to properly fix this is to get a replacement gpu from mid 2008 or newer where the issue is fixed and bga rework it to the board. Since newer chips are typically 65nm and not 95nm it requires other things to be done to the motherboard as well.
Josh Davidson on youtube does a lot of deep technical repairs on these consoles and his methods / procedures are a better long term fix.
