Meddedhardware getting sued by nintendo.

Welp. 2 were hit but one is fine and one won’t turn on at all bc of lightning strike hitting our apt building trying to find out if it’s worth fixing or not. 🤷🏼‍♀️ the one that’s fine would have been covered under Sony warranty. But the other one is too old by like a year 😩

DUDE!!!!! I came here to find out what to do to the ORINGAL NES gun and you absolutely skip that. You just go "Well this CAN work with a little help" Rather than throw away my two guns and then spend more money on the tomee ones I'd rather mod my 2 guns. I am guessing you de-solder the LED it came with and replace it with... ???? That's why I am here to find out the specific part to solder in. UGH...

Does this enable you to have 4 controllers in total? Do the original ones work after you plug the adapter in? I was looking into getting a multitap for my Famicom and this seems like a good option.

Hey Mr. North Pole Retro, my house got hit by lightning strike 2 days ago… My PS5 is still beeping when I press Power or Eject button but it’s not booting / turning on. What could be the fried part? Power supply as well or is there something bigger damaged probably?

So I did all of this and I have the opposite of the usual problem; almost every time I shoot the screen it registers it as a hit. I can sometimes SORT of get it to work, but the best I get is that I can miss to the left or the right, but I always hit if I aim up or down of the duck. Any ideas about fixing this category of problem for this? I've tried everything I can think of adjusting the television, changing light sources in the room, I've even taped up parts of the end of the gun to try to reduce light exposure and I've had very limited success with this. I'm just wondering if anyone has any other suggestions. Thanks.

I got to use one of these once as a kid, I found the d-pad very awkward to use and I hated it.

Heat gun fix is only temporary. The GPU chips on Xenon/Zephyr boards are faulty from the manufacturer by design the only way to properly fix this is to get a replacement gpu from mid 2008 or newer where the issue is fixed and bga rework it to the board. Since newer chips are typically 65nm and not 95nm it requires other things to be done to the motherboard as well. Josh Davidson on youtube does a lot of deep technical repairs on these consoles and his methods / procedures are a better long term fix.

I'm pretty sure you might be referring to Dragster, not Pole Position WRT impossible scores.

Those are the standard 7800 Proline Controllers that came standard with NA 7800's. They are cramp-inducing due to the buttons on the side, just like Intellivision, 5200, Colecovision, and some other lesser-known 2nd gen systems' standard controllers.

If that HuC6280 has a short, it should have shown up in your tests with the multimeter, no? It seems likely that perhaps some of the previous work done was on the HuC6280, as you mentioned that pad for pin 35 (to nowhere) seemed lifted. Maybe there's even an issue with the connector that has caused this problem in the past and might again in the future. #TG2680

Good overview. So bizarre that you had added this video on the same day I went looking for this info (just finally watched it now). I'm shocked that they managed to take up more than 2x the board space. I wonder what components were added (you mentioned that). I've read in the past that there were stronger EMI requirements by the FCC as compared to Japan, and that necessitated a redesign. Have the cart connector on a (longer than necessary) ribbon cable would definitely add to the EMI issues. Supposedly the shielding was also improved. Seems there are 3 outlines of ICs that are unpopulated on the TG-16 PCB (I recall noticing this in photos before). One of those looks like a similar footprint to the IC on the cart PCB of the PC Engine that you said you couldn't locate on the TG-16 PCB. I wonder what that IC was for and why there are unpopulated ICs on the TG-16 PCB (assuming my visual understanding is correct).
