I got a used console from Mercari one time that smelled like smoke so bad no matter how much I cleaned it. I actually put it in a bag with some dryer sheets for a couple days and the smell completely went away!
i mean if you bought old xbox 360 elite from ebay or gamestop always expect 3 things: 1- some durt inside it and dusty cooler fan 2-disc tray stuck and sometimes wont read some games because of lazer being dusty 3- missing gears

Great video! I took a gamble on eBay a couple of weeks ago and ended up with a $25 working 250 gb slim with loaded games. I was very pleased to say the least!. Also bought another slim with a Kinect and 12 games for around $50 from goodwill and got a bonus bo4 disc in the tray.
You could put the smoker’s Xbox 360 in the dishwasher (i.e. plastic, rf shielding, fan, heat sinks, fan shroud, and if you’re feeling adventurous also the motherboard) this method gets rid of all the cigarette smoke smell, but make sure it’s completely dry before powering it back on
Just curious why the misleading title about getting screwed, basically got a dusty free 360, a free DVD, aand mutiple free games xD sounds like a good deal imo
I once operated a computer repair business. Dirty equipment is ultra common. Some people have REALLY dirty electronics because they never do anything to protect them or clean them. Dirt is very bad for them however and will lead to all sorts of issues. If you are going to buy used equipment, I recommend investing in a basic computer repair tool kit and plenty of canned air and canned electronics cleaning spray. Most of what you get used will be very dirt and often will smell bad. Learning how to correctly open the cases and work inside is not hard to do. Be SURE to wear a grounded wrist strap when handling any electronics parts. That will eliminate harmful static electricity discharges that can harm internal parts. The tool kits have good brushes for cleaning hard to reach spots and proper tools for unfastening and grasping parts. Obviously, if a part like a disk drive needs replacing, that can be done easily enough. Plenty of videos showing how. All you need is the proper tools and procedures to follow, plus a good working drive. At minimum, people should cover their consoles when not in use to keep dirt out. Ideally, every 6 months to 1 year, the inside of the units need to be blown out with compressed air. If just those two things are done regularly, the equipment should stay clean and work well.
I feel like there's a lot of stuff sold on ebay as "untested" even though the seller knows damn well it doesn't work because they have tested it. Not saying this person is scamming you, only because there's no way to prove it. The whole untested thing is literally just a scapegoat for sellers to sell something broken knowing they can get a bit more money out of it that way instead of just listing it as for parts or repair.
Oh yeah for sure. I think the ebay listing was legitimately untested. And for a console like the 360, there are a lot that are actually untested because the power brick is proprietary and not something people usually have laying around (unless you're like me). A lot of people that sell consoles like this just get them in a big lot or other random places, and they aren't a gamer and don't have the right power supply. Now with newer consoles, that's a little bit different because most of the new consoles just need a standard pc power cord
A fix to the disc tray not opening: Press the eject button and give the console a slap. Or, pick the console up 1cm and then drop it quickly. Should work.
I brought a untested ps Vita for $45 very good deal. Just always make sure they don't have current or sold listings of selling things similar because it will almost always be faulty. Brought the vita from a seller who mostly only sold clothes and stuff and I took the risk and it worked perfectly
Bought two Xbox 360 consoles, one was a slim and the other was the 2008 original Xbox 360. Was able to replace thermal paste and it started up right after I put it back together. Same goes for the Original Xbox 360. I bought a Power brick and a 500GB hard drive for the slim, and plan on getting a larger hard drive for the original Xbox 360. I only spent 40 for the two plus a few dollars for shipping. As of right now I have 5 Xbox 360s. One Halo 4 limited edition console, two Xbox 360 slims, and two Original Xbox 360s. I think the Xbox 360 slim I bought had been taken apart before. But it works fine since replacing the thermal paste

Look into buying an ozone generator, it can remove fire and smoke smells easily. Fire fighters use it to remove the smoke smells from burned buildings.

The Jasper system is worth keeping despite it needing to be deep cleaned. The Falcon system, not so much. I had bad luck with systems dying that were Falcon and older from RRoD.
@@driverdis3488 the disk drives that are paired with the falcons seem to work better and last longer, I’ve had fewer issues with falcons over Jaspers. But both are what I consider to be the best 360 revisions.
@@ohioxboxcollection4838 thanks for the reply. I really wish disc drives were easier to swap like the original Xbox days. I had bad luck with some is the original drives and all I had to do was swap them vs spoofing the drive on 360 and potentially risking a ban.
@@ohioxboxcollection4838 The Jasper legitimately is objectively better than Falcon in every way. The Falcon systems I've had which were 2007 models actually had the same disk drives that my Jasper systems have. Phillips Lite-On drives. Every single Jasper I look at, I can buy with basically 100% confidence that the system will work just fine. Falcons are another story. I just don't even touch Falcons because I've had bad luck with them in the past. My Jaspers have been more reliable than even my 2011 Slim Trinity systems. They are fantastic consoles.
Sir, how is listing a untested console under "parts only" a ripoff? If you are looking for a working console look under "used working". Just because an item has no use for you does not make it a ripoff. Do not disappoint yourself. You can do better.
The smoke smell is incredibly easy to get rid of why bother throwing it out your defeating the purpose of saving these from landfills. I clean hundreds of pcs and consoles. The state they come in are 100x worse than this and they leave with no smoke smell, deep cleaned and shiny. This beauty deserved a little TLC it'd take all but 15 minutes to have it smelling cleaner than the day it left factory
Excellent video. On the smoker console you would need to take it down to the board and soak and clean every piece of the case and dowse the motherboard in IPA to even have a chance.
for future reference, get yourself an ozone generator, if something like this happens again, take the console or device apart, clean it up, then stick all the parts in a sealed container with the ozone generator and let it run for about an hour or 2, the ozone generator will eliminate bacteria as well as odors
Dish soap will strip the smell away. Please wash the motherboard. Squirt some soap on it and wash it in the sink. Let it dry in a warm bright place for a couple days.

Sell on the RROD, someone will take a crack. Just clean it if you can. It probably just needs a reflow of the solder around the main chips which can be done with a rework station. Even spares and repair it has some value.
Untested / parts only is just that. Your expectations are WAY too high. Don’t buy eBay if you can’t handle that. Also TH-camrs getting this stuff should always use gloves. Again 12+ old systems and the average person fully cleans their system … never.

I've had computer mainboards that were in smoker environments come up a treat like that. no need to trash perfectly good hardware when you can definitely un-stinkify it.
No way bro actually said if they tryna sell you a 5$ console then they the type to to steal yo account passwords too. That’s the craziest transition into a sponsored ad ever.
I wouldn't say you got screwed... I mean 20 Dollars for a 70 Dollar device that needs a clean; bet someone would buy it as is tested for least 35 to 50;
So I've been informed that the first console I opened was actually serviced in 2010 not manufactured in 2010 (says it right on the sticker but I didn't notice it)... So not a jasper motherboard. Unfortunate
Dang
Bro it clearly said for both of them they parts only or don't work, you didn't get ripped off you just can't read
Sorry man my motherboards are for select consoles only
Imagine that humming sound was copyrighted by Microsoft
Lol
How did you get screwed? You got 2 consoles that work. The smoker one can be completely dissembled and cleaned in a tub of soapy water.
Guy got "screwed" from a working console listed as untested. 💀
if you're gonna clean up the smoker xbox, maybe you can get rid of some of the smell by taking apart the case parts and soaking them in some isopropyl alcohol or something
I would soak it in soapy water, dry it and wipe it down with isopropyl alcohol
I'm gonna soak the motherboard in soap and water 🙂
@@jrob0021 make sure to power it on while in the water for faster cleaning

I got a used console from Mercari one time that smelled like smoke so bad no matter how much I cleaned it. I actually put it in a bag with some dryer sheets for a couple days and the smell completely went away!
Im surprised the disc tray even worked on the first one considering how freaking dirty it was
Ikr lol
@@jrob0021 i started on a 360
i mean if you bought old xbox 360 elite from ebay or gamestop always expect 3 things:
1- some durt inside it and dusty cooler fan
2-disc tray stuck and sometimes wont read some games because of lazer being dusty
3- missing gears
Pretty much, I expect dust/dirt in all consoles, but this one was next level dirty. It made my room smell. I have this thing sitting in my garage now. It probably has cockroaches
Your one of the most underrated youtubers out there imo
Great video! I took a gamble on eBay a couple of weeks ago and ended up with a $25 working 250 gb slim with loaded games. I was very pleased to say the least!. Also bought another slim with a Kinect and 12 games for around $50 from goodwill and got a bonus bo4 disc in the tray.
niiiice
You could put the smoker’s Xbox 360 in the dishwasher (i.e. plastic, rf shielding, fan, heat sinks, fan shroud, and if you’re feeling adventurous also the motherboard) this method gets rid of all the cigarette smoke smell, but make sure it’s completely dry before powering it back on
The smokers console can be easily cleaned but you’ll need to open it and that jasper motherboard is awesome
Jasper is great. I've personally had a jasper since 2009 with no issues
@@jrob0021 I have a xenon which has red ringed 5 times since when it was made in 2006!
I would clean both consoles out and try to get rid of the cigarette smoke 🚭
For the prices even if you had to put the parts from 1 into the other to get a single working console it’s not really a bad cost at all.
Just curious why the misleading title about getting screwed, basically got a dusty free 360, a free DVD, aand mutiple free games xD sounds like a good deal imo
Yeah, I’ve noticed the misleading titles a lot more recently.
Just by the thumbnail this looks like a good one
I thought it was gonna have the red ring
I have a 360 elite and it has the ring on it thats red
Love this style of video man. It's classic, keep it up
The second console you tested probably has some games on it, because the 3,000GS profile was on it
okay this guy just makes intresting gaming videos and this dude makes my day better honestly
Ikr hes goated
yes
HEY, don't say no one wants it, those clean up pretty well.
A fix to the disc tray not opening: Press the eject button and give the console a slap. Or, pick the console up 1cm and then drop it quickly. Should work.
I got one for cheap too. It was partially messed up, but it worked fine.
I got rid of smokers smell by putting a gamecube and controllers in a backpack with a bunch of dryer sheets and it worked.
This one would need a full deep clean and then some dryer sheets. Still not convinced it'd be clean even after all of that
I brought a untested ps Vita for $45 very good deal. Just always make sure they don't have current or sold listings of selling things similar because it will almost always be faulty. Brought the vita from a seller who mostly only sold clothes and stuff and I took the risk and it worked perfectly
watching these videos just make me have good 360 memories
I’ve been recently collecting and playing games for the Xbox 360
Like what games?
@@jrob0021 maybe mc
@@jrob0021 Call of Duty Black Ops, Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing + Banjoo-Kazooie, GTA V despite the GTA Online being discontinued on the PS3 and Xbox 360. I also have Halo 4, Assassins Creed 3, Skate, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, and Fallout New Vegas.

Imagine dumping a perfectly good system just because you're scared of cleaning it
you can remove profile and keep game, I bought some game accounts a few years ago, installed games, and removed profiles and games still work
Its crazy how a simple wipe down made a world of difference on that nasty console
It's 19.95, I mean, you get what you payed for.
The first console is a refurbished one from Microsoft, notice the very wide barcode and numbers and it’s a falcon mother board which wasn’t made at that time.the second console is a jasper motherboard and that was the proper manufacturing date
Thx I didn't realize that. Just looked at the date and assumed it was made in 2010
I drove at 200mph and died. I got screwed!
Look into buying an ozone generator, it can remove fire and smoke smells easily. Fire fighters use it to remove the smoke smells from burned buildings.
I've had good luck using dryer sheets to help dissipate smokers smell. Open it up, give it a good cleaning, and the parts into a sealable bag with a bunch of dryer sheets. Afterwards, I'd leave the parts sitting outside for a day or two to air them out.
I tried dryer sheets ages ago on old consoles like this and all it ever really did for me is mask the smell
$70 for a elite system? Can get them here In the UK for £10 obviously ik American prices are ridiculous but definitely wouldn’t pay £70 for a console that old but anyway good video always 👍
You could find them for that much here in the US if they're broken, but not working. Unless you just come across a great deal, which is possible if you're looking locally
@@jrob0021 fair enough, like you can get a full boxed elite system on eBay for £40 which is about $55 👍
jacob r if you dont want the one with smokey smell.... ill take it off your hands.... my nose is used to smells like that. also great video. :)
Jacob R drinking game: take a sip every time he says the word "console".
The Jasper system is worth keeping despite it needing to be deep cleaned. The Falcon system, not so much. I had bad luck with systems dying that were Falcon and older from RRoD.
Falcons are arguably better than jaspers in some regards.
@@ohioxboxcollection4838 why is that? I have not heard that before.
Next time you should test some apple watches or airpods LOL
These on thumbnail are not xbox 360 elites but rather xbox orignals
Please dont throw it away it is cleanable
"Oh noooo :( this working xbox 360 that I paid $20 for is dirty!" Poor guy, I'll be praying for you during this tough time
Sir, how is listing a untested console under "parts only" a ripoff? If you are looking for a working console look under "used working". Just because an item has no use for you does not make it a ripoff. Do not disappoint yourself. You can do better.
Don't throw it away, try to save it/ I know it will probably be really hard, but hopefully you can get the smell out.
I'm gonna soak the motherboard as well 🙂
for future reference, get yourself an ozone generator, if something like this happens again, take the console or device apart, clean it up, then stick all the parts in a sealed container with the ozone generator and let it run for about an hour or 2, the ozone generator will eliminate bacteria as well as odors
Dish soap will strip the smell away.
Please wash the motherboard. Squirt some soap on it and wash it in the sink. Let it dry in a warm bright place for a couple days.
Consoles and PCs in smoker homes are sometimes not worth the cleaning. I clean, repair and refurbish PCs and I've junked working computers from smoker homes because I didn't have enough industrial grade cleaner to get all that grime off. I've cleaned those out fully before. Was the worst experience of my PC repair life.
There's ways you can get rid of the smoke smell basically definitely shouldn't of thrown it away
I didn't actually throw the console away
Oh ok good lol, if your ever in mood to, you can try methods like putting baking soda or vinegar or charcoal in a bowl near it where its sitting and possibly make a video on how to do that if wanted.
Give it away bro..some of us can't afford it..we support you , you support us

I love your videos a lot keep it up!
Yeah, you shouldn't buy those 'untested' rip-offs. Rather buy 'broken', as I have done with two PS2s and both where fully working with one controller included, and cost less than a single controller on itself xD
Always clean untested xboxes.
At least take disc tray cover from dirty one, to put it on good one.
I'll probably just buy a new cover, I don't want to take any of the smoke smelling components out of my garage lol
No way just "smoking" made that console bad. Lmao
smoking and cockroaches
Experienced something similar on Facebook marketplace with a PS3 super slim :/ first PS3 I've owned because I was always an Xbox user besides the ps2 so got the PS3 to add some homebrew and other stuff but when they dropped it off they forgot the controller then came back with a dead one that didn't work or even charge and the console was so dusty and had like a crust around parts and just smelt of smoke or some kind of weird dust smell that was do strong
Ended up having to get a refund from the guy because it was so dirty and controller was dead and I felt bad because he traveled a little to bring it my way and I think he had some kind of intellectual disability :/
That unit full of cig smoke - that's how criminally awful was the white Falcon I got a few days ago. I managed to knock 2 SMDs (I got them soldered back) under the GPU but hopefully it still works after soldering those 2 back. Also repasted it w/MX6. It's gonna be a lot of work (the front bezel, DVD drive and RF board all look nasty) but hopefully, after much effort, I feel like I'll have a nice modded unit.
I got my 360 for 50$ off ebay, bought it for memories of 2012-2016 when we had a family 360, it works fine but you have to smack the console for the disc drive to open🤣
The belt in the DVD tray probably needs to be cleaned/replaced. There are a lot of video guides on how to do that if you're feeling adventurous.
@@oOignignoktOo1 Probably but to be honest I play my digital games more then the two games I have on disc
@@BestieNotBerry My problem is I got way more games on disc than digital. But I prefer having physical copies for the 360. Due to it's age I fear the servers being pulled at somepoint and my paid content no longer accessible. Though if that happens I'll probably just RGH mod my console.
