    I JUST found you by the Bran will be King video, this is my 2nd video I am watching if yours, and DUDE, you have so much more depth involved in your videos! Too bad Game of Thrones is over now, you could have really helped a lot of people truly understand this better, and in completely creatively different ways then every other GOT Channel! Yours are original, and no one else is talking, analyzing or thinking outside the box the way your are. BRAVO! Now I am gunna watch your other videos!!!! Awesome job dude!

    Wow!!! I loved this! The philosophical themes and mystical concepts within ASOIAF aren't often discussed in much depth, and they are my favorite part of the story. Clever, fun way you out this together with the animation! Terrific job! I subbed you, Philosophy Tube and School of Life! Extremely happy i found your channel! Thank you😁💟

    I really like your take on the wall. Sometimes in GOT videos I see people comparing refugees to the white walkers and zombies. A more accurate comparison would be comparing the wildlings to refugees in real world. It’s especially apt given how much climate change has driven migrations. And GRRM has compared the others to global warming so ...

    • @zfiles3971
      @zfiles3971 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In fact I think you solved the mystery of the symbol of the ww...the cycle of birth and death and the infinite loop, that we are all connected by these things. I am you and you me. But in the walkers view all this loop represents to.them ls their traumatic origin. So now its their sacred duty to spread that trauma, instead of life which the children's symbol means.

    I started watching your videos after putting down some thesis comments between me and a bunch of channels that say this last season of GoT has been ruined by the writers. But here I am making the argument that they didn't on the basis of your essays here. And then I did find your channel and was like yeah, but then you went deeper. You did the full analysis while i was looking at it more of just the human story. Thanks for bringing your thoughts to this.

    Thank you for this video and the rest; it's refreshing to find meaty thematic and philosophical analysis of ASOIAF on youtube. The final season of GoT has gotten me back into the ASOIAF kick during a somewhat depressed time in my life, and it's been helpful to find content that speaks of the life-affirming and idealistic heart of Martin's work, even if the plot points (especially in the show..) aren't going to match up precisely. The best of the Songs ought to contain Truth.

    Dude, you did it!! I got the creeps! After watching your most recent forecast about Bran I was guided to this video that has everything to do with the research I'm developing in my master's degree, with “other things”, with the "other" as a factor capable of defining who "we" are (in a sense of national identity, but that does not stop relating to what happens in GoT). And now, thanks to your analysis, I can clearly see this! I'm even more excited about my research now

    • @carriezen8499
      @carriezen8499 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Because Geek... I saw it the same way, glad to find like minds! ASOIAF contains so many mythological elements which represent philosophical (and spiritual) ideas and concepts. I noticed who Jon was (R+L=J), then that he and Dany must come together and mate and the importance of their child very early in the story because of the principle of Hieros Gamos -- opposites coming together to create a 'magical synthesis'. But found it difficult to find such deeper analysis and discussions of such themes as HG, what The Others represent, Bran's 5th Dimensional consciousness, metaphysical initiation of Faceless Men, etc. Hope to see you if I make it to Con in July this year!

    I don't know squat about Hegel, but that was fascinating stuff.
    There are in the story certain characters who can be read as having the slave ruling the master: Cersei, who has been mentally consumed by Maggy the Frog's prophecy since the age of 10 (as exemplified by her killing her friend by pushing her down a well on the same day they visited Maggy). In effect, everything Cersei has done has simply made the predictions happen. Or Robert, who hasn't moved on from Rhaegar in the 13/17 years since the Trident, 'in my dreams I kill him every night'.
    Or Sansa, whose experiences have left her unable to trust anyone really, and vengeful against those she thinks have wronged her family (did she engineer the death of Ned Umber by sending him north into the teeth of the Night King? If so, it was vengeance for Rickon, for whose death she would blame the Umbers). And just what was she talking to Yohn Royce about to cause that slightly nervous glance at each other when Tyrion came upon them?

    • @ShanghaiRooster
      @ShanghaiRooster 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      She was vindictive enough to wish to take the Last Hearth and the Karhold away from the Umbers and Karstarks in S7E01, and was not happy at all when Jon refused. Episode two has now aired in the U.S. (and elsewhere for night owls!); I'll be watching at 9:00 p.m. UK time, but will just say to keep an eye on Alys Karstark. If she were to die and Sansa can be connected to her death....

  • @sylviasebregts2427
    @sylviasebregts2427 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    When the Knight King was made by the children of the forest, they WERE north of where the wall is now.
    Only it was a fertile, green land, not the icy lands we know from the present of the show.
    The flashbacks to the moment when the Night King was created show the same 'arrow head' mountain; the spirals around the flowering weir wood tree are in it's 'contemporary' form the ice spikes around an altar of ice (the remains of the weir wood tree?).
    The wall was created later, thus forming the ultimate duality between life and death, fertility and barrenness, summer and winter, white and black, light and darkness.
    In the show the Knight King wears a sigil on his chest that looks like an opened up crow's/raven's beak (like in a cry). Then there are the three-eyed ravens, the latest being Bran. Three-eyed ravens can access the weir wood network, with three eyes (or a thousand and one). But can the Night King? And if he can, possibly only with one eye?
    Bran wants to wait for the Night King in the God's Wood, near the weir wood tree. Why?
    Because he can then access the past?
    Wouldn't the three eyed raven and the Night King have to sort of 'merge' in order to abrogate the duality?

      Never mind - I'm currently watching your video about Theon killing the Night King, and it seems you're addressing your views there. I was merely curious because you seem to have such a deep understanding of the themes and mythology of these stories and are able to look past the more superficial "plot" details to grasp the deeper meanings and purposes expressed through the themes and characters, and in turn you really explain those well through your videos which makes you really insightful. I try to be as smart and talented as you and can only hope to be one day! Thank you so much for these, they're very interesting and insightful and reconcile my views with what was a very disappointing ending when I first saw it (and still is an imperfect and flawed one, but not completely horrid and without redemption, to be fair).

      Also, I just realized something -- I've noticed some likewise insightful comments made by someone on Reddit on the ASOIAF subreddit regarding the story, etc., and I just realized that this particular individual is the same person as you! (Just noticed your channel name.)

      I don't think they really got to what Martin was going for. In the show I wanted Theon to kill the Night King, but I don't think the books will have a Night King.

    Why do you think Dany and Jon's baby is the promised prince? Isn't promised prince = Azor Ahai = Hero from Nan's tales? The one who will stop the others and the long night?

    Well, even though this theory aged like milk it was very entertaining. Well done.
