I’d love a tea time talk around relationships and how they evolve. The world feels so divisive right now and I’m in my late 20s, a time when all my old friends are really growing apart and choosing different paths. Even becoming vegan a couple years ago has really tested a lot of my relationships! Compounded by a pandemic it’s really easy to feel lonely and lost.

Keep your mind open to friends of all ages and sexes. In our youth many times our friends are incredibly similar to us in age, background etc. Sometimes the most amazing friends are ones where you have similar values but the other stuff doesn’t matter. One of my best friends is 27 years younger and another is 20 years older. These amazing women have taught me so much and are 100 percent there for me when I need them.

many years ago, about 45. i read something that helped me to overcome my debilitating shyness......the thing i read asked me to draw a pie, then to section out portions of my life, say school, friends, family, strangers, etc......then it asked in what portions are you shy.....well, most time was spent with family and friends of course.....so it gave me a real look at, the rather small portions of my life where i felt shy.......this was such a revelation to my 11 year old self......i don't think i ever described myself this way again.....i really did become a different person.

Judging yourself by your old standards and not allowing yourself the freedom to change can make you harbour negative thoughts towards yourself. Thanks for this Sadia, it’s an important topic ❤️

Today in culinary school we talked about how we expect the waiter to do everything right. Once everything is going well we don't have anything to complain about. But, when the waiter spills a drink, didn't come at the table on time or any other "bad" thing, then we have negative thoughts on them. I just needed to share this and believe that we should pay attention to the good things in life too, instead of only focusing on the negative thoughts we have.

Dear Sadia, I have another approach worth trying. When you tell yourself something like "I'm an idiot", it's really another part of yourself that says that. It immensely helps to accept this part of yourself! You can thank this part for wanting to help you be a good/reliable/productive/... person and hug it "virtually". You will notice when you do that that the parts wants to be accepted by you. Once you accept the part more and more, you'll notice that the way it talks to you is nicer and nicer. :)
I swear it is worth a try. :)

Usually, if one 'bad' thing happened, it would ruin my whole day, and I would ruminate on that and it would impact my mood sometimes for the whole week! With my tracker, I check in daily, reflect on the day's events, write if I feel compelled to, and at the end of the month, I get to see that it wasn't all bad and I have a better perspective / outlook.

While watching this I remembered my post-partum self when all the emotions just seem to swirl to every directions. I remembered constantly reminding myself, it's okay to feel bad today, it's okay to fail to nurse today. We have time to practice again tomorrow (nursing my newborn was so hard for me that time). Adding the 'today' made me feel more apologetic of myself, that it is just a bad day, not a bad life. The time frame is important.

I would just LOVE to see these every week when you've got the time. The mind chatter is my biggest issue at the moment! I'd love if you could have tea times about making mental space at home, positively thinking about food, making time for exercise, fitting in meditation...Perhaps you've already talked about these & I haven't come across the videos so I'll have a good look at your channel.

Thank you so much for sharing your personal struggle and approach to overcoming that struggle. I realized during more intense prayer time during Lent that I was berating myself repeatedly for small failures, and I have started asking myself if my internal dialogue is what I would say to my grown children if they were having the same experience. At the same time, I realized that my expectations are unreasonably high for myself, another thing that has been feeding my negative assessments of myself. Similarly, I am asking myself what I would expect of co-workers, friends, family, when I task myself with an overwhelming workload and expected personal productivity. It has been very freeing and stops the negativity. Thanks again!

This applies to a lot in life. Add the details or descriptors. Don't tell a woman she's beautiful. Tell her she has a beautiful smile. Don't tell a friend you enjoy spending time with them. Tell the you enjoy spending time because they make you laugh or feel relaxed. Give it a purpose. Great video.

@JYOTI, this is so me. I've mastered the art of telling someone I'm too impaired to talk at the moment. Then I write down how I feel and can reread it without leaving out what the issues were simply because I'm afraid of confrontation, and I'd much rather fester and confront an issue after three strikes so I don't think that I'm pretty or crazy. I hope this helps 😊

Those pieces of advice such as identifying and noticing the "chatter," trying to treat myself the way I would treat someone else I care about, and avoiding making broad, absolutist statements are similar to strategies my counselor gave me to cope with depression.
