I'm sorry but the OST is mostly trash for me for being so Generically Pop/Rock music.
But the only few Music that I like is the composed music by Paul Haslinger (I really do like his music though) and underworld To heal/ Glam bucket.
Least this game have wheel support and it works fine.
Actually I loved this game as a kid, nowadays I do realize that it's mediocre but back then it was a lot of fun to play with my brothers

@@silfex3622 Pretty much same here. It actually was my second Xbox 360 game I got, so that might be reason I liked it as much, as I did. But now, about 10 years later, I really don't know why i liked it that much. Of course I will most probably end up playing it again at some point. Both Undergrounds, Most Wanted and Carbon are just that much better games, than Undercover.
But as of now, I am otherwise occupide with one game called Heat, so won't be returning to Undercover any time soon.

The goddamn ”BUSTED” scenes in undercover are just amazing. There’s soo many of em’. As a kid they literally made me scared of cops!

One thing this game did extremely well; the cop radio chatter is so realistic. Like, I've just parked up to listen to it sometimes, its just better than all the other games so far
Do you know what's sad? It's that this is the last Need for Speed game to utilize the MW and Carbon concepts. The environment traps, the slow motion ability, and enhanced customization options. Those concepts were they key of a good NFS game
I know the game was unfinished but I also felt that popularity of the import tuner street racing culture itself was waning at that point didn’t help sales either and in my opinion rehashing the same ideas for almost 3 years in a row can get tiring and the lack of innovation becomes more apparent
@@rickyrosay33977I think that's why Shift did so well. It was an entirely new concept to the series to try more professional racing on tracks, with an interior camera . It was innovative. The Run and ProStreet were innovative too!
@zephyrthefox that's the reason I loved shift and as a forza motorsport, grid, and GT fan I wanted to see a more aggressive track racer
I remember loving this game on the PS3 in 2012.
BUT, even I will admit that both Midnight Club Los Angeles and Burnout Paradise (and NFS Hot Pursuit 2010) were objectively better games.
I remember buying this game when it came out. I then traded it in during Black Friday. Game was so boring and easy and there was no incentive to buy cars. The cars you get for free was the only cars I used in the game. Also, sidenote cool Kat avatar. Gravity Rush is an awesome series.
Same but I got it on steam for $10 in 2015. Now I hardly even touch it anymore.
Put it about 70+ hours into the game and I just shake my head after I saw how much time I put into this broken game.

I feel like every single ColourShed Need for Speed video starts with:
"By the mid 2000s Need for Speed..."
But, I also feel the Hot Pursuit 2010 got very close to the height of Need for Speed's in the early 2000s.
Hot Pursuit 2010 was awesome and it's the last good Need For Speed game. It had amazing scenery, graphics were quite simple but beautiful, it was atmoshperic, and, most importantly, fun to play. Especially in multiplayer, but i even remember just driving around and chillin' in free drive mode to gaze at pretty landscapes and listen to the beautiful soundtrack.
@@Warr1on Totally agreed. I still play it to this day, 9 years later. The Hot Pursuit events, even though there are not enough of them, keep me hooked for hours sometimes. Every pursuit feels different. This is not something I can say about Heat and the recent games. I really wish they would go back to their roots, to this sort of simplistic uncomplicated game. Since they don't seem like they will, I have decided to quit the series unfortunately.
I've always been a Test Drive person myself! Especially the newer ish ones where ya can own a house and cloth you're character!.
Nitro kinda feels like too, it really resembles Ridge Racer, having exaggerated drifts and having two tiers of tracks of each location (simple and advanced tracks). I liked it, but the career is kinda boring. The game had something like 10 tracks and 5 locations, to make the career last longer they added some boring missions in between. If they just kept the circuit races and the car class system and removed every other mission, even though it would be very short, the game as a whole would be way more fun.
Well Need For Speed Heat is pretty damn good, definitely the best one on current generation consoles
I remember not even taking a second look at Undercover and just enjoying the hell out of Midnight Club, GTA IV & Burnout Paradise in 2008.
This game is like that traumatic childhood memory. I keep forgetting it but when I'm reminded, it hurts.
I remember being so excited for this game after Pro Street. They even had a website dedicated to this game with a video of an "interrogation" where you could find clues and stuff. Too bad this game was so unfinished and dreadful to play.
Just goes to show the curse of yearly realse games. It just doesn't work at all...
I keep playing it... But everytime I start the game it saddens me. It's a game that Screams loud and clear: *TOTALLY WASTED POTENTIAL*
I loved it, it was broken enough you could find exploits and some cheesy ass moves to complete missions in like 30 secs

The game came out in a very strange moment: It had a lot of assets recycled from Burnout Paradise (look at the traffic cars) it had a nice selection of cars, but unlike MW you can´t finish the game with your starter car no matter what you do, once you reach the countryside you need something that goes 310kmh+, it was like a transition game between the PS2 era NFS games of MW/Carbon to the 360 era Hot Pursiut/the run but failing to be as good as all the previous mentioned.
because all of the cars have pointless speed limiter
you can remove the speed limiter via modding and some of the cars (most notably 997 gt3 rs) can go even faster than they're supposed to be
Well you can finnish the game with the starter car but it needs to be maxed out

@@skinnycvnt571 I had maxed out my Lotus Elise and I couldn´t even finish the checkpoint races, it doesn´t go faster than 275 KMH, meanwhile I was able to beat MW with a maxed out Fiat Punto that could easily go over 320 KMH.

All I remember from this game as a kid is how poor the Anti aliasing was and how infuriating it was not being able to sell your cars for money.
The cars of your property (the ones you win in missions) can be bought for free as many times you want, that's why you can't sell them
@@ignite5998 If you play the PS2 version you don't get the option of having the Pink slip cars since they don't do that in that version of this game. So when you buy a car but want to get rid of it after wasting like 150k or so you feel cheated and just keep it even if you don't want to.

Well you can technically sell the cars you bought but not the cars you won so it does make sense why you can’t sell the cars you win
It’s weird to watch reviews like this because I remember Undercover as one of my favorite NFSs.
There’s a mod called „NFS Undercover Remastered“ which fixes all the ugly graphical effects and makes the game look more like ProStreet. It also adds more traffic, etc. If you are playing on PC, give this mod a try. The developer has put a lot of work into it.

This game is good... If you're drunk and want something to laugh at. Especially true for the PS2 version.

I actually enjoy this game alot, the music is good, the driving is solid, the variety of events is decent. It's not underground or most wanted level, but it's solid.

Exacly, ps2 and wii are the best versions of Undercover mainly thanks to them being nfs Carbon, but even with missions and story it has more stuff. And if you want to play on splitscreen you have 2 players on ps2 and up to 4 players at once in Wii version. Big release doesnt even fucking have splitscreen....
Bro what? It was literally the buggiest game I've ever played. Cut scenes didn't make sense, rubber banding was horrible and the game was just shit. How bad was the ps3 version ?

ps2 & wii version of Undercover is basically a reskin/total conversion mod for Carbon, but more fun to play with (superior version).

Adore the fact that you make these reviews. In depth, detailed and after a 20 minute history lesson passionately written. You always have an act for making me want to go and get lost in the game every time. Although it must take you months to put a single one togerher I hope you keep them coming. Loving them. Each and every one.
This was my favorite game as a kid the police chases were so fun back in the day. And blowing up the gas stations was insane, it kept me a big fan of the game fading with every lacking release for years
There's so little original and/or fleshed out that there's nothing this game needs more than time.
If Black Box had all hands on deck (Undercover+Prostreet+Skate+NBA) and two years for each installment, this would've been a home run. The wii and ps2 version faced the same fate, not enough development time.
I played this game as a kid, I personally loved the shit out of the game... It was my introduction to NFS franchise. Idk, but this game just has a special place in my heart.

You mentioned the PS2 version early on, and I personally had that since I still only had a PS2 at the time. It was basically a reskinned Most Wanted with some stretches of highway added, and the story kinda thrown in as a side thing. When I later picked up the PS3 version I honestly preferred the PS2 one, mostly since it was actually driveable and didn't have the horrible framerate issues.
Well, they also removed some parts of the map (for example, the Gray Point area is missing completely from Underground map, when comparing to Rockport version), and seems like they flipped it around too.
It was actually a reskin of carbon,same menu,same cars,same shit different story.
Funny story time: "Need for Speed" is what I call my weekly county arrest report.

Undercover is like the Sonic 06 of the NFS franchise. Incredible potential to be the best, falls short due to shortened deadlines and incompetency from its creators.
I have to find it absolutely hilarious that when a channel like ColourShedProductions gave a negative review of Undercover, everyone was like “yeah it’s a bad game”
Yet when IGN did the same thing, everyone started crying over their opinion
Well, colourshed also has the benefit of hindsight and not being a tool when reviewing games

I'm playing this game right now on my PS3 and it doesn't have ANY framerate issues like you've shown here. However, it has this weird problem where some roads don't load properly and the game hangs for a few seconds on an empty void.

this game has a lot of issues but damn, the feel of speed is immense in this title. it feels really fast and even at very high speed you control through tight corners like a flash
it's actually cartoony and plus this game has a pointless speed limiter on every car
Cancer - Chan Underground 1 did it ten times better
Pro street had the best, sometimes it felt completely ridiculous on some of those speed events
Heat has a great sense of speed

Subi_fan This is a different style of handling and it’s not bad. Black box has varied handling styles in all of its games. Only mw and carbon have similar handling styles and I understand if you prefer it. NFS never really had good stories. Even older games were cheesy as hell . Better than 2015 tho

Id love to see a carbon remaster where they fix the amount of defensive races which should be more spread out or theres an option to turn them off and if they fix the money system to atleast give us a few grand after we finished the race and maybe the finished product of the game bc if those things were brought to carbon it would make me love it even more

PS2 and Wii version is much more fun and better in many aspects since its having much more solid base from Carbon. Big release fails terribly to even carry over the best from ProStreet. I always recommend ps2 version over big release. Wii also has the best splitscreen in the series up to 4 players while ps3/x360 has nothing. PSP version is also quite bad mainly to severe gameplay fuck ups like police but also graphics and feature cutting from Carbon Own the City

@@S41t4r4 I honestly had no idea that was the concensus, I was pretty much the only kid playing NFS and one of the few without a PS3 or Xbox so I only had my own experience to go off of ^^
@@annadelsiena Actually I personally got aware about this consensus 2 to 3 years ago. I also got nfs undercover as a child on a ps2 because the new consoles were too expensive. The other kids who had next generation consoles and got the game hated it, I didn't knew that the game was different at the time so I was confused :)

I had this on X360 and played it alongside playing Most Wanted at my cousin's house. I LOVED this game! Fun arcadey driving and good pursuits made it really fun and I didn't feel like I was playing a horrible cousin of Most Wanted at all!

I remember when I as in high school and at that time Gametrailers (remember them?) rated it as one of the most disappointing games of the year.
Wow I haven’t played this game in like 6-7 years on my iPod touch
I remember many years ago I was in an intense cop chase, it was the longest chase I ever had, over 2 hours. I used my green supra and it had all it's tires blown and I was circling around a building near a docking bay at the highest heat level and eventually the cops lost sight of me as I'm tucked in a corner. The only thing that saved me was my nitrous.

I remember this was the most divisive game in the series.
I think Carbon was the most divisive at the time because of the game itself and not other factors like I think happened with Undercover. There were some people who liked it, but I think it was mainly using Pro Street as a comparison and it was the first NFS which "felt like next gen" instead of Most Wanted and Carbon which were mainly "previous gen ports with more polish".
The PS2/Wii version was developed by a B Studio Exient Entertainment who previously developed Handheld versions of other EA games so there was obviously no plan to make them work on the main version
I'm probably one who had a good experience on this game, it takes me back when the 7th Gen consoles and HD TV were still a huge thing back in the day and I always loved the feel of the environment which reminds me of being in Miami and the late 2008-early 2009 vibes not to mention the soundtrack was probably one of the best out there.
I was 12 years old when that game came out and i really enjoyed the story back then :D
I remember liking that one guy his name was G Mac the guy’s quips made me laugh
PS2/Wii felt the less empty (content wise) and it was very fun
Also I finished the game 98% because there were one cost to state too hard and one checkpoint race much harder even with cars like the Carrera, 911 GT2 (Rose's) or even the Zonda
Other than that, I loved yeeting the Police 911 GT2 with the civilian car glitch (when you are in a Pursuit and there is a road block, you have to hope there is a civilian car ahead of you, turn on Speed braker, and push the car to the road block, and watch the magic YEETER)

Review NFS Hot Pursuit 2010. 5 star arcade racer.
This game was a massive part of my childhood, I used to love this game because of the warm colours, the amazing soundtrack and high driving sensitivity. It felt really good driving around the whole map especially in the faster cars and I understand that there are same types of races almost everywhere (which after a while might feel extremely repetitive and boring) but after completing the story it feels super worth it, working through the grind. Also I can't really confirm the part where you said that consoles have a really hard time with the frame rates as I never had a home console but my dad's old work PC never used to show any signs of frame drop back then, it's probably due to game optimization being better for PC. Even still, to this day I still hold NFS Undercover in a higher regard than games like NFS Carbon and in some cases even NFS Most Wanted.

@@FS-me8mj ...the ending was beautiful, but IMO, it doesn't compare to the absolute leap in storytelling and setting between AC1 and AC2. AC Revelations was the Back to the Future III of the AC franchise. lol
This thing I think needs a remastered version of graphic, plot and gameplay. However one most important question always haunts me: YOU ARE AN UNDERCOVER COP in this game, but you are needed to hurt your colleagues deliberately to finish your mission... It doesn't make sense... Your target should have been minimizing the casualty of police and damage of public properties. The whole game in a nutshell: It says you were supposed to destroy the Sith, not join them!

I remember getting that game for Christmas when it came out :D I actually quite liked it then but I wanted to try it out again a few months ago and absolutely couldn't do it. The controls are quite bad imo and it's crazy difficult to spot obstacles 😅 really one of the worst NFS games.
Either way I'm looking forward to your review of Hot Pursuit 2010, which is definitely better although I remember really missing the customization options.

@@Da_Fktopuss I can confirm that. I'm playing this game right now on my PS3 and it doesn't have framerate issues. However, it has a weird problem where some roads don't load properly and the game hangs for a few seconds on an empty void.
The garage music in this game lives rent free in my mind.

Whoa, I did not know MCLA and Undercover came out in the same year. What a difference, MCLA has aged incredibly well, while Undercover is just completely forgettable.
as a kid, I always hated that I was a cop, I just didn't get the story for this type of games
I had played UG1, UG2, MW05, MW12 and Rivals.
As I played undercover, I noticed alot of stuff.
1. Bloom. in MW, it can go from bright to dark (rain) and doesn't make the sun a deadly lazer.
2. Detail. The game lacks detail that the MW has (even UG 1 and 2).
3. Bugs. I don't see any bugs on my playthrough yet...or have but not affecting my gameplay.
Although it has some points.
1. Cars. The cars are alot like the other nfs that makes me tempted to save cash for a specific car because I don't want to instantly waste it.
2. Damage. This is what I was hoping for in carbon, the damage system. I kinda like the aspect of fix your car or it's bye bye for you (almost all rally games, and some racing games). And this is the reason why I loved rivals, and hot pursuit.
3. Cutscenes. I like them cheesy cutscenes. Cringeworthy, but it's like a novelty in the NFS franchise (since all are now 3d modeled characters doing the scences rather than the actual cross saying "EVERYONE" on NFSMW).
4. Map. It's HUGE, just like MW (05 and 12), UG2, hot pursuit and rivals that makes driving more enjoyful.
5. Pursuit breakers and the speedbreaker. Correct me on this one, but this is the only game with the pursuit breakers and speedbreakers still implemented. I think HP 2010 onwards removed that function. But correct me (I believe that UC and ProStreet are the only ones with the speedbreaker and UC has the last pursuit breaker function)
I am on neutral since I liked the game but I also disliked the game because of these and other more aspects.
Still, I would store this game along with the others on a very big spaced hard drive so I can show it to my future children and grandchildren since games like these could be gone after alot of years pass...
But I would like a remade Undercover with alot of things fixed (including the live action cutscene). I wish the developers had been given alot of time to make it a much more better game.

@@chrisis649 I was 8 and was into NFS big time. I had been duped by PS3 footage, thinking it was representative of PS2 footage.
I remember playing a split screen mode where one player is the police and another one the racer. It was really fun.

Undercover on PS3 wasn't that bad. It helped me introduce myself to new music. I wasn't into Nine Inch Nails or Puscifer but you better believe I am now. It took years but I went back to the soundtrack and remembered it all. I was broke and could only afford a game every 6 months or so. I picked this up with the (for some reason) Spain exclusive steelbook case. I still have it too. I tried going back to it but my save must've gotten corrupted. It says 100% but when I launch the game it asks me to start a new game. Fuck that. I hated getting the Platinum trophy. Those last trophies were hard to get. Online (which was pretty much dead at the time) and some trophy I think that I needed to drive a lot? Or do many races? I forget.
I will say, Undercover could’ve been better but Black Box working on 3 games...that’s a lot to work with.

Wild, i had Undercover on the Wii and loved it, was my go to game for years as a kid.
