We were there in August & went back 3 times to Fish Creek & still didn't see a bear in the water!! We did see 2 eating berries & 3 little bear cubs in the road! A warning to all to drive really slow! Isn't Alaska amazing & stuning??
Have just discovered you guys, Wow! Thoroughly enjoyed watching this trip. Have signed up to get your videos. So interesting thank you so much for sharing. I'm in New Zealand, by the way. 😊😊
The scenery there is breathtaking! That camping spot was epic! But I was taken by surprise with the tide surge! Now that is something that would shake you up. I can imagine how y'all felt! Good thing you got that gentle reminder of how unexpected nature can be. Looking forward to every bit of this trip. Enjoy the journey and stay safe y'all!
Alrighty then! You guys certainly are not starting out conservatively in Alaska. "Looks OK from here." Famous last words. I'm glad you decided to walk it.
Awesome drone footage, Beautiful Beautiful area topped off with OMG scary, lol. P.s. I drove the Icefields Parkway! Wowser experience thanks to your channels AdVanture’s.
You guys weren't kidding when you said you all were going to Alaska to make some memories! And didn't waste any time doing so. Lol Glad everyone was able to get back far enough. I had a similar situation camping with about 20 others on the Ohoopee river. It was more like a mad dash to dry ground lol. Earrrly one morning the county upstream got hammered with rain and made the water rise 2 feet over our access road and camp in a matter of a few hours. We were lucky to get all the campers pulled to safety.
Be sure to pressure wash your van undercarriage to remove all the salt water. My brakes rusted and did not wear evenly. Salmon Glacier is an awesome view & place to stay. Rough road!
The second I posted, I realized I'd forgotten to add this: Hyder is located in the Panhandle, or Southeast, which is otherwise served by the State Ferry System, but being east of the Coast Mtns., it’s cut off, making a flight, or 441mi./710km. drive through Canada on the Cassiar, Alaska and Klondike Hwys. necessary to get to Skagway--the nearest other town in AK by road; US mail flown from Ketchikan; located 111 miles farther east than Ketchikan,
We are grinning ear to ear for you guys. You did it! We wouldn't have wanted to leave that spot either. So epic! Good thing you guys noticed the tide coming in. Just Alaska reminding you what a wild ride you're in for. This is just going to get better. Wahooooo guys!!!
Wow! That tidal surge was SCARY! I had no idea it could happen. As you said, a learning experience. I'm so glad it worked out for you. Lovely video, as always!
You two are awesome. I would never attempt a trip like this unless with a group. I am assuming you are the team leader. You are cautious but take some risk, at least risk i would be comfortable with. Am enjoying your travels to Alaska and thanks for bringing us along. BTW, what speed were you going on those potholed roads? This is wonderful.
+@mikefarrell5996 a little risk is exciting but a risk that changes your lives (not for the good) or causes major damage…… not so much fun! Dave says we were driving about 15mph. This will change for each person. How well your suspension is, how heavy you are, how bad the road is, how good are your tires…..ect. The key is finding “your” sweet spot. If it is REALLY BAD…. Airing down your tires will also help.
Thanks guys - Lots of useful info here. We are coming up in a few weeks and also traveling up the Cassiar and staying in Hyder. I did read the warnings about camping near the shores but thank you for reminding us - probably would have forgotten by then. Great job on this and we will be following your progress. Safe travels!
Thanks again for more of your great drone work Dave. Awesome is an overused word these days, but that glacier overhead really was awesome! Really glad the tidal experience turned out OK. Lessons learned.
We were there in late August and got to watch a young grizzly at Fish Creek. But I’m amazed at how many bears you’ve seen so far on your trip. I’m not sure if we saw that many on our entire Alaska trip. So you’ve been lucky!
Good to see this video as we are planning to make the trip as well. Is there boondocking other than where you were? Hopefully we will see some bears next year. Thanks for sharing!
Quite the trek this leg to get to the well hidden gem, Salmon Glacier. But Canada? I thought you already crossed into Alaska? If I'd just kept watching, you explained it at 13:30, as you usually do ;) How long will you be in AK? You might see bears fishing before you leave :)
Hyder is Alaska but a little ways upriver from the town the Alaskan border turns west. ....the big mine , high viewpoints and the Salmon Glacier are completely inside Canada aswell as a farther 2 mines not shown in the video. ..the 2 far mines are connected by a 18km tunnel under the peaks just north of the Glacier
I am in the process of choosing a van for my retirement travels, hoping to spend a year on the road.I am torn between a Transit or a Ram,looking closely at a Zion,so models aside how would you rate the performance of your promaster.I will be starting from Florida to Alaska.if you find time to answer I would appreciate it.Thank you,be safe.
WOW! Excellent drone footage of the glacier!! That stunning color of the glacial pools is something I could stare into for awhile! Glad you all escaped that incoming tide😃
+@TP-es1pf Those that live in coastal areas of Alaska are called brown bears, while typically inland bears that have limited or no access to marine-derived food resources are often smaller and called grizzlies. Both have the same distinctive body shape described below. Distinctive shoulder hump. Rump is lower than shoulder hump….. according to the National Park Website. Seems like they are pretty much the same to me…. Just eating different food🤷♀️
@@oneadVANtureatatime well several google sites would beg to differ …. I suspect US and Canada differ in their names, grizzlies are much larger and very unpredictable. Brown bears are big black bears in nature. Hope you don’t meet one either way….😁
I'm glad you mentioned that Salmon Glacier is in Canada. ....alot of people think it's in Alaska but it's completely within British Columbia
The birds in this video are lovely!!
It's always raining there! We were too early to see the bears too, but got up to the iconic view area of the glacier.
Your drone footage is amazing. Thanks for the video.
beautiful and exciting fun

Nice drone footage.
Who would have thought a river would have a high tide. I would have never known.
That was pretty scary guys. Glad you were ok. I think I’d have had a bit of a panic attack.
Looking forward to next week
Ah-mazing scenery!
Glad you didn't get totally flooded out!
We were there in late August. Best Glacier views of are whole summer in Alaska and Canada. The bear named runner was at fish creek and was amazing.

I was able to camp at the summit a couple of years ago in my Promaster/Travato. It was in early July…
It appears that this would be a rough, maybe impassible, road for a car.
How long ago was this filmed ? You should mention the moment this video was fil,m ! We are here in end of June !
By the time you swim that Promaster to Hawaii, we'll have Puerto Rico as the 51st. State. Safe trip and... 👍 Rock on 🙂.
Watch out for night time guests in the form of porcupines. They like promaster wiring. yum yum
very cool
At least you did not make that mistake when you were at the Bay of Fundy.

Great drone video! What is the range of flight it can go? What kind of drone do you have? I have a Mavic Minnie.
Love it 😍

Would you call Alaska the last frontier?
Surprised at how dark it was at midnight, I thought Alaska had 24 hours of daylight in June.
Only above the Arctic Circle. Below that, you start entering the twilight zone…. ;-)
WOW! Excellent drone footage of the glacier!! That stunning color of the glacial pools is something I could stare into for awhile! Glad you all escaped that incoming tide😃
Brown bears are not the same as grizzlies…..
