  • The big one. Marshall DSL 40. The most features, sounds and of course noise! This 40 watt amp comes in a combo or head configuration and Will and Steve are here to talk you through there combo.
    Check out the Marshall DSL40CR 40W 1x12 Combo with Reverb over at PMT Online: goo.gl/Lm2SPT
    First lets talk about whats inside the 40. It houses EC83 pre amp valves as well as ER34's (so perfect for blowing your socks off or even playing at home) The speakers have been upgraded to Celestion V-Type, to really nail home that tone and versatility.
    The all valve combo has its own built in reverb and two master volume controls, unlike previous models. The DSL 40 also has 2 channels (clean, overdrive) with EQ galore with the amazing Presence and Resonance controls.
    This model comes fitted with more In/Out sockets then ever, including, emulated out, extra speaker out, line/MP3 socket, FX send and return and of course the humble foot switch. What more could you want?

    • @adamwatson6916
      @adamwatson6916 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jessetate9701 I swapped the V type for a creamback M65 and was blown away by how much better the amp sounds. I did not like the v type at all and nothing about it sounded rich or sweet . I found it very bright harsh brittle and slightly fizzy and was barely using the amp then i started seeing you tube demos where people had swapped in creamback M65s in various Marshall combos from the old DSLs and the never ones to JVMs and origin 50s and when was blown away by the tone . I also seen alot of praise for the M65 being used with modern Marshall's across various forums especially the Marshall forum . Many people reported that the M65 solved all the tonal issues they were having with the DSL40 which all happened to be the same issues I was having with them amp . I knew I was swapping the stock speaker and had it narrowed down to 2 choices the ceamback M or the Ceamback H. I was worried about using an M speaker in an open back combo. I thought it might be to loose and flabby in the bass and low mids and would loose definition but was also worried the creamback H would be too bright and harsh as it's just a high powered G12H30 which can be bright and harsh with certain amps but at the time I could not find any videos of people using the H75 creamback with the DSL and opinions from people who had made the swap to the H75 in the DSL were almost non existent but because I was so blown away by the tone of the speaker in all the videos I watched it seems like a safe bet . You tube videos can be very deceiving in both good and bad ways but I was extremely pleased with the M65 and it sounded even better in person even better then I expected. As great as it sounded online it sounded 10 times better in person. It made the DSL sound exactly the way I expect a Marshall to sound. It matches the tome I hear in my head . It's like the creamback M was made for the DSl 40 CR . It should be the stock speaker but that would move up into another price point most likely as the creambacks are some of celestions most expensive speakers as they are made in England but even still they sound so good in the DSL 40 and Several other modern Marshall's as well and so much better then the V type . It's just perfect in the DSl . It's just a bigger wider sound with more depth . It's also softer less harsh and less bright then the v type but also has more clarity and more definition at the same time and it's a killer speaker for both vintage and modern tones and when using the DSl 40 for classic rock or old school metal it does a much more accurate take on those tones with the creamback without sacrificing the any of its modern tonal ability. The Creamback also reduced the fizz of the amps by about 90 percent .

    These amps take a beating from the critics and the purists . I own alot of vintage amps and high end amps . Marshall has come up with a way to make a great lil amp at a affordable price ....oh God forbid ! I have a jcm 800 and this new version of the DSL line is awesome more usable in many ways than the old school Marshalls . If you don't like the DSL 40 CR it's because you just don't want to like it or you don't know how to dial a amp in this is a great sounding little amplifier . They really upgraded the 2018 model it's a awesome little Combo that I got it and I am thinking about getting the hundred watt head and put it on a 1960 ax cab with greenbacks Probably sounds as good as any Marshall past or present to my 54 year old ears that have been playing guitar for 30 of those years. I mean hate if you want to but good sounds good and this is a great sounding amp hands down if the hundred watt head is as good as the 40 watt combo it just might turn into my go to

      I use mine at bedroom levels and feel like I can’t get a good sound at all it sounds super fizzy. I have to turn my treble down really far to get rid of the fizz but then I have hardly any treble and the tone sounds awful. I’ve tried everything and i can’t get a good tone or I can get a tone that sounds good for chords but when I play single notes it lacks clarity.

Give me an old Marshall or a Fender bassman anyday. I appreciate the new amps though as long as Vietmam wants to rock! Oh yeah, my Deluxe Reverb & Fender Twins with Jensens kinda jazz my ears too! The new Marshalls are great for alot reasons...one being they are not old like me...and break easily if hauled around. Anyway, get a Marshall...the logo will make you look and play better! 🤪
