This is the exact method I use to clean the engine before and after winter. I find that using dressing before winter helps stop surface rust. Only use water based vinyl/rubber protectants. As a lot of silicone protectants will degrade plastic/rubber and also attract dust.

I do it to see if mechanic was neat(white custom show car & they have left hand prints & spills)+ I wanted to see if the Super Clean foam was different than its spray degreaser. It is & thank you for point’g out engines get water from rain/snow Ect & that as long as you don’t drown the car you’d be fine using a hose.

@Garage Gear , as a detailer myself i can give you a suggestion about the dressing for your plastics in your engine bay . use Adam's vrt as a base coat then top that with adam's hyper dressing . both of these are water based products and they wont attract dirt . and you'll have a nice and shinny engine bay .

5:28 "If it's really bad you may want to consider using a pressure washer." I have a pressure washing business. Maybe from underneath to get the oil pan, grease from around your front end parts, but today's engine bays weren't meant to have 3,100psi forced into electrical components. Just use that second can, and use a garden hose. Drying with a leaf blower right after is a smart idea. Just saying better to error on the side of satety!

That’s cool thank you for replying I have a 2015 Tacoma I was just curious because I’ve been cleaning 🧼 undercarriage and also waxing everything underneath and also touch up with Por15 on rust areas. For engine bay I clean weekly with a wet rag, painters brush and air compress air it’s a lot to just upkeep much more than any vehicle I’ve own. Watching your video has inspired me thank you...take care and keep up with your Tacoma. Tacoma’s in general has a resale high value...have a great day...Mahalo and Aloha from Oahu Hawaii...

Great question! Not at all! As you can see the truck started right up afterwards. Done this many times with no issues! Ask yourself this question. Do you drive in the rain?

@@steves9600 just put a bag over the fuse box and battery that's what I'm gonna do. I also had a Kia I used to pressure wash the engine bay and nothing ever happened. I probably wouldn't recommend that lol but just use a light spray on hoes it should be fine.
