    After cold calling for IT services for over 10 years the #1 downside to cold calls is NOT Rejection, it's making X number of dial's daily and only getting maybe 1 or 2 people on the phone. Once you get that person on the phone, it's then having the mental energy to actually be able to have an intelligible conversation.
    Today, cold calling is an increased amount of work for much less payoff compared to even 5 years ago.

    I used your sales pitch techniques for an interview. The COO was so impressed I got an offer that day. They made their decision halfway through and said most sales people are not as interactive or engaging. I used the PowerPoint and then went to the whiteboard. They said they had no time to look at their phone and felt their concerns mattered.

    Rather than worrying about the entire call going smoothly it really helps me just focusing on my opening going really well! That usually paves the way for a smooth chat with a prospect and seems less daunting

    The script advice is great. You don't necessarily use every aspect of the script, but you do practice it and you do have it ready to go during the call so you can always keep your flow and momentum.

    I can really relate to this video. Working in a small company which is only two years old; I am making a lot of cold calls- a lot. I enjoy it more now. I have gotten over my personal bias and negative beliefs. Research everything.....who, where, what, why, how, what is happening before calling if you have the time. Watch comedy before. Happiness, laughing , makes you smarter- neuroscience tip, and it works.

    Mark, the last 12 out of 13 People I reached by phone all responded friendlier and asked me how I was doing after I applied your tip; “how have you been”. You are right, it disrupts their pattern of thought. I’ve coupled that with changing to a softer tonality as you’ve suggested in another video and I’m finding the calls are kicking off in a much better way, I’m getting more people to hear me out and less objections/hang up. Great content, keep it coming!

    I've been in cold calling for many years. I agree to the following:

    Here's a tip: Quit watching this video and dial the numbers. It's a great video from a great channel but that was how I got 3 appointments today. Just do it. Then do it again. And again :). Nobody says it's easy, but ya gotta do it. No Nonsense No Blue Sky No Tony Robins Schtick... Great Job Marc... You tell it exactly the way it is and should be.... The problem is that most reps are "askared" to make a call because they feel like they are bothering the prospect... YOU have to believe in your product or service and that it will benefit them... and know that even though you might be bothering them, they more often or not will thank you for your intrusion later... because you've made their life better with what you had to offer them. HEY... I've been doing much of what Marc is preaching and it works you guys!!!

    Great great, one of the amazing points you brought out is focus on the keeping prospect for the next 25 "seconds" not 25 minutes or hours. 👍

    I don’t if he talks about it in this video, but the line “did I get you at a bad time?” WORKS! Vets interest in the product or service out of the gate

    • @ruchieru
      @ruchieru 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know if I agree with that. Those kind of lines start you on a lower level (gives the tone that you're asking them for a favour by them giving you their time, rather than the tone that you WANT to set, which is you're doing them a favour by solving a problem for them through your solution). And saying that allows your prospect to have an excuse to end the call prematurely.

    • @ruchieru
      @ruchieru 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also depends on your sales style, but I don't always want to vet interest right out of the gate. I want to help them realize they DO have an interest even when they don't at the very beginning. Especially for a customer profile that I know is perfect for my product: has the problem, has the budget.

    Awesome video, I think the scripting is one of the most important aspects on the sale process since it makes your mind to focus as you mention on the subject.

    Love this video, guys! To add value, here's something which I know needs to be addressed to make cold calling successful. A lot of cold callers are not checking first whether the phone numbers and people they try to call match. We've seen cold callers that are being hung up due to prospecting mismatch. Worst, people get angry at them. This usually happens to businesses or people who buy leads from unverified sources. Data get outdated or totally incorrect from the beginning.
    So, to avoid this silly mistake, it's either you clean up and update your list using a data append tool. Or, use a reverse phone number lookup to check the phone number owner's name and match it with the name in your database.

    we have done cold calling so much it becomes like second nature, and there are some times where nervousness comes up but we always keep a script of what we wanna say and just try to make hte person laugh first.

    Awesome training! I've had plenty of experience cold-calling 16 years as a stockbroker, and many other sales projects, and I agree with all your recommendations and use them myself, but never bothered to analyze and document them like you did. Thank you and keep up the great work!

      chocksaway100 Hi Chocksaway I'm from South Africa so I'm not too sure where you hail from but I really just applied for the role in an established wine merchants company the selling of wine over the phone is growing big time so I'm sure many companies similar to mine will be looking for hungry sales people. If you don't know much about wine, relax you'll really develope a passion for it especially since tasting wine everyday is a requirement. If you looking to do it privately, this is tricky because you'll need a license to sell vino but you could do well if you can find good boutique wine makers to allow you to exclusively sell their wines for them at my company, independent boutique wine makers apply for us to represent them. I definitely recommend pursuing a career selling wine, more and more people are realizing it is a luxury they can afford. I wish could be of more help, good luck with your endeavor!

    good stuff Wayshak. im pro-script. people dont realize that even with a script I can still "improv" all I want. The script can really help me stay on track and make sure i hit key points. and like you said, at least on the initial cold call it's not like im going to give a super long schpeil about my company and myself anyway, just want to get to my purpose while keeping a natural flow as well.
