Hey great review! I'm a shortie myself (5'3") with a 696 and have been thinking about upgrading to a Diavel. Seeing how comfortable you look on that beast has definately made me think more seriously about saving for one, so much that i've booked a test ride when I take my 696 in for a service! Thanks again for an awesome review!
Just re-checked the original footage of her changing the mode. It was definately in Sport mode. The screen you saw always has that green mode on the right showing it's available, not chosen. So she did ride it in full power. :-)
Good to see you 2 again! Love it, when you both go out riding. What a beast! HUGE! I am slowing getting the wifey to ride my 125...she feels more comfortable everytime she rides. She is still afraid to slide her hand over to turn on the indicator to turn...not that she is ridning on road or anthing..parking lot. Just cirlcles. She has a death grip on the handlebars...LOL. Hopefully sometime this summer she will go for her CBT. Can't wait to ride with her...she will love it !
Learning to ride is a steep learning curve. We all starting being really poor. I used to hold the bars with a vice like grip too but as confidence grows, so does technique. I never thought I would be able to change gear, indicate and use the mirrors at the same time but now we don't even think about it. Good luck with the training x
Gotta say your review was awesome!! Being a lady of the vertically challenged type my self. By the way I'm only 5'3. This review was extremely helpful. I fell in love with it at my local ducati dealer and hope to buy one soon. Thanks!!
The Reason for the speed humps on the Cossall road is in the 70's young 17 year old lads on their RD, Kwak and Suzy 250's use to put their bikes through there paces around that road, but now we are refined calm old bikers
I really want this but have no riding experience. would you say a 640cc monstor for a year then this would be a good way to start with bikes ?? I do race my car on track *840Hp Skyline R34 back wheel drive currently and many other cars.. but I totally understand that this is a diffrant beast all together and there is a learning curve to respect and follow..
the screen with the gear position and riding mode been so close to the fuel filler cap is there something to stop petrol ruining the screen or do u just have to be carefull
I watched the video of you putting the Zard on. It certainly does make the back end come together and shows off everything in full glory. I can't say I'm a big fan of how the Diavel looks but I can appreciate any form of enthusiasm when it comes to bikes. From Harleys to Enduros, they're all bikes in the end and riding on two wheels is all that matters. I actually prefer this bike in red, which is unusual for me. There's one fairly close to where I live and it looks great.
You won't regret it. The Diavel is a natural upgrade. With the weight, I just have to think about where I land because I don't fancy trying to push it, especially on a gradient.
Well, you were totally right about the exhaust hiding the lovely rear single sided swingarm wheel....coz Ducati changed that in the recent version. Well done! :-)
hi, may i ask what glove do you use please? because i tends have very short finger as a male , so i might needed to wear a lady's glove instead thanks in advance
Thank you very much for sharing :-) Very nice looking bike, but I am not crazy about the sound of it. Is there any better exhaust or slip on for it? :-)
It is a very easy and comfy bike to ride and the power delivery is smooth. I though it would be more agressive but it wasn't. Looking forward to my next ride - maybe tonight!!
At 7:00 you make a really good point, a lot of people do that with bikes, they never adjust them... the guy I bought my KTM 690 SMC off practically told me it was a rubbish bike when I bought it, too rough, scary and race focused etc. but after adjusting the suspension it's much better for the roads. It's clear he bought the wrong bike, but now it has a more grateful owner ;) Looking forward to Russ' review on this, haven't seen many videos from him lately, suppose it's the weathers fault.
OMG you are right, i couldnt have pressed the button in right. i feel like i have missed out and need another ride asap. cheers, i would never have known x
Hey thanks, I have seen both of the reviews you guys have done, I have sold my RSV4 recently and looking at the Diavel carbon now, just looking for as much information as possible before I make my decision . I am looking more for comfort this time around but I still like power but my Aprilia just wasn't fun on any longer trips with a passenger and a pack on . Though I hear stock seat is not the best I have read lot of people like the Corbon seat.
Really enjoyed the review, I'm considering selling my 796 for a Diavel so the comments were very interesting. I was particularly concerned about the wind buffeting as the 796 is hardwork when I've been on a few long trips.
The Tuono will give you the performance but not good for a pillion. I have ridden pillion on the Diavel and it was comfy. I don't find the seat uncomfortable at all on the Diavel. I first saw it at Motorcycle Live last year and was amazed at it. I think a test ride would answer if it's for you. The carbon and cromo versions are something else. I am sure there will be one at the Ducati stand at the NEC this year if you haven't made your mind up by the end of November ...
Thank you. The monster is so much fun. Never ridden the BMW. I love the s1000rr but my little legs are too short for most bikes and so I have to stick to those with low seat heights. X
I just love this review! A natural ride with some here-and-now-comments. Lovely! I'm so bored with all these so called expert reviews. This is much better, this is real life! Good job! John
My laugh only goes to 6000rpm! This was my first ride on the Diavel. When I got more confident it tried to teach me a lesson in complacency by nearly spitting me off. Now I give it much respect and it looks after me.
"I didn't watch your vid but I'm going to comment with my intense, angrily biased opinion anyway." Well done TH-cam, you win again. My mate just bought one and loves it. He gets appreciative honks and glances constantly on the road. Not my thing (I'm more of a VMax man), but beautiful ride.
I think it's definately a Marmite bike, love or hate it. you should see it close up though Dave, especially you being a photographer, you keep seeing such beautiful design everywhere on it.
The Diavel is very easy to ride. I probably wouldn't recommend it as a first bike or for the very novice rider. Its 1200cc and it is quick. I nearly came a cropper on it when I lost concentration and that would have been £13k of loss/damage. My early bikes are about confidence building and then move into a bike which is a bit more challenging. Its also very heavy and so a bit cumbersome to push around. Its all personal choice though and the Diavel is a beautiful bike.
I like to know the ladies opinion, in much of times they look important details, sometimes done dumb questions, but in the other hand, make a interesting question
The choice of first biked is so personal. I would say go for something you feel comfortable on and so will grow confidence but also has some power so you can stretch your legs. I personally wouldn't choose a Diavel as a first bike. Too heavy and too much power but that wouldn't be the right choice for me. The SV was the right choice for me. You need to sit on a few bikes, ride a few to ascertain what's important to you.
I have rst gloves in Xs. You must try gloves on before purchase to the avoid making mistakes. They are standard mens gloves in a small size. I also have Richa and gerbing. I don't own any ladies specific gloves. I find the smallest mens sizes fit ok and I have small hands!
Lol, Poor Russ not going to get many goes is he ! Yes a night vid and a tunnel would be a great vid (id imagine with all the displays onboard it might be a bit distracting but im sure it will have dimmer options ? probably next to the FLUX CAPACITOR !!! lol . I do hope the horn sounds like something off of a ferry ! brilliant vid btw
I can't answer that one as the Tuono is way too tall for me to ride. I can't even get a foot down. I know if Russ had to choose between the Tuono and the Diavel, he would plump for the Tuono. He loves the performance. If you want a more detailed answer, ask RoadCraft Nottingham. He says the Tuono is refined whereas the Diavel is a bruiser!
XenoformII I don't see why... other than the initial investment (it's quite pricey)... ; my girlfriend only had a few years experience on a 40bhp chopper, and she told me that the Diavel was extremely easy to ride!
Joeri De Strijcker I'm sure it's a great bike, I wasn't implying that it's some kind of fire-breathing monster but take into account the fact that your girlfriend has been on two wheels for a bit. I still opine that a 160+ horsepower bike is not a good choice as a starter machine. As a second bike, sure why not?
Love it. The bike is good too. You sound FAR too excited, and "you know i'm coming" is too much information missy. It's ONE shade of Grey, NOT 50 ;-) haha. GREAT vlog Linz :-)
I think you did a great review. I like to know a women's perspective. I love the look and feel of te bike. I have spent some quality time with the Monster, multistrada, and my ST2. It makes me miss my Ducati. I'll have to check to see if you've done a review on The BMW K1300s. I won't tell you to stay out of the kitchen, I love good food. However, keep riding and your reviews are great.
absolutely beautiful bike but @ 1.14 look at that number plate ruins the look, is that the only size they have in the UK the aussie number plates are a lot smaller, but a great bike and video too
The previous owner had black ends put on the exhaust rather than standard. I just think the pipes are far too big. If Russ keeps the bike he may look at new cans but the existing ones can't really be reduced. The wheel is far too nice to hide imo
Just put a deposit on one. Not sure if i want carbon or not. I'm coming from a 2011 Ninja 1000 with pcv and autotune with urban brawlers. Didn't test drive the diavel. Not sure if they let you i didn't ask since if was in back of the showroom and i was in a rush
+In Scotland it's a bike, not that expensive. but didn't get. blew the motor on my camaro and corded the tires on my other car. so every done went into that
The bike looks lovely, a bit front heavy, but you'd have to be a huge enthusiast to drop £14k+ on a bike imo. Only minor criticisms were use of fender (americanism) and the chest cam is a very static view. But your giggle is awesome lass. Loved the review, full of personality.
Well done for having a go on that weapon! I would be afraid to ride it, but that's probably only coz I ride a 125 ;-) Lucky bugger Russ! Has he sold that DRZ yet?
nice bike, it is a beasty looking thing. But I am going to side with you on that exhaust it could have done with being under the rear fairing, it looks like an after thought which is a shame as there has been so much attention to detail on the rest of the bike.
Gr8 video! Thank u very much for sharing! I want to buy a Diavel this spring and your feedback halped me alot for my decision ( against a Multistrada that is ) Theodore Athens
Okay now where can I find a girl like you? You are sweet.. It was such a lovely, humble and a I found the review innocent in a way..thank you very much
Russ may be able to answer that one but with 1200cc I imagine it's no issue for this bike. As a passenger the seat is quite small, and iI prefer the big armchair comfort of the pan European or fazer 1000

Thanx for the review. How is it ride with a passenger?
`Good review. Did you stretch the aspect ratio of the video on purpose?
You won't regret it. The Diavel is a natural upgrade. With the weight, I just have to think about where I land because I don't fancy trying to push it, especially on a gradient.
Well, you were totally right about the exhaust hiding the lovely rear single sided swingarm wheel....coz Ducati changed that in the recent version. Well done! :-)
That maniacal laugh @7:40 was class. That's what motorcycling is all about!
hi, may i ask what glove do you use please? because i tends have very short finger as a male , so i might needed to wear a lady's glove instead thanks in advance
Hello. Great review! I enjoyed it. A question for you: Is the Diavel suited for a novice rider?
Thank you very much for sharing :-) Very nice looking bike, but I am not crazy about the sound of it. Is there any better exhaust or slip on for it? :-)
Your garage must be HUGE with all these bikes lol. This Diavel is beastly indeed... a muscle bike even!
It is a very easy and comfy bike to ride and the power delivery is smooth. I though it would be more agressive but it wasn't. Looking forward to my next ride - maybe tonight!!
It was a Great Delight to listen to your review of this Totally Awesome Bike!

The best part of your video which is really "unfiltered" from the feeling that this bike gives is the sound of your laughing at around 7:50 ! ;)
OMG you are right, i couldnt have pressed the button in right. i feel like i have missed out and need another ride asap. cheers, i would never have known x

why is the camera angle wide?
Its a wide angle camera
nice review, this is my new dream bike for sure. Keep riding and be safe.

Good to have you back.
Do you like this better then the aprilia? I sold my RSV4 and am looking at a diavel now.
My laugh only goes to 6000rpm! This was my first ride on the Diavel. When I got more confident it tried to teach me a lesson in complacency by nearly spitting me off. Now I give it much respect and it looks after me.
love her laugh when the bike pulls. makes me want to get one

It is an awesome bike, nice video. I have a red and black diavel carbon. I was riding a 696 monster before that. Love, love, love my diavel!!
I think it's definately a Marmite bike, love or hate it. you should see it close up though Dave, especially you being a photographer, you keep seeing such beautiful design everywhere on it.

The design of the bike looks very masculine. Wide rear tire and large exhaust. Looks like you had a lot of fun with it which is always a good thing.

Carbon Termis!
I agree they wanna be smaller, there's one in my related videos, and they look fantastic.
I think it's ACHINGLY beautiful. even better now I've put the Zard and rim decals on :-)
I can't answer that one as the Tuono is way too tall for me to ride. I can't even get a foot down. I know if Russ had to choose between the Tuono and the Diavel, he would plump for the Tuono. A good starter bike?
Terrible starter bike

I found RST gloves are massively bigger than other ones, I can't even get my hands on 'large' gloves in other brands, in RST I can fit medium (width)
I saw your review and I loved it!
Awesome review, any chance of that GoPro being pointed down haha
Hehehe - great one. Like the extra rush when you ducked down!
How tall are you
I'm drooling! I want a go on one!
I actually like that half red version with not too much on it, looks sexy.
drz is still here. waiting for some nice weather and friends for a bit of green laning
I have seen a video of a Diavel wheelie-ing so it must be able to. heavy bike though
Thanks for the video. Contemplating buying one.
Absolutely beautiful bike. It's sculptured! Great review too, thanks!
you said you was in sport mode?? but i saw u were still in urban on the screen??? :/
absolutely beautiful bike but @ 1.14 look at that number plate ruins the look, is that the only size they have in the UK the aussie number plates are a lot smaller, but a great bike and video too
Thats pretty mind blowing ! wow id be scared riding that thing lol, well done . Wow
Please do more reviews.
If you check out Road craft Nottinghamshire channel, and he fits a Zard exhaust on the Diavel. It looks amazing :)
The previous owner had black ends put on the exhaust rather than standard. I just think the pipes are far too big. If Russ keeps the bike he may look at new cans but the existing ones can't really be reduced. The wheel is far too nice to hide imo
I can't subscribe to Roadcraft Nottingham or comment :( it says "user not permitted"
how do you say speed bumps where u from? i heard u say speed umps?? lol love the accent
Wow could they make your license plates any bigger...get the side mounting license plate bracket

The van in the background "Think Bike - Think Biker" I'm going to take a wild guess and guess it's Russ's van?
Well done for having a go on that weapon!
I would be afraid to ride it, but that's probably only coz I ride a 125 ;-)
Lucky bugger Russ! Has he sold that DRZ yet?
great video! very nice bike. i think that you and russ need bigger garages to store all of the toys...lol
Probably the only mod it needs for my money
nice bike, it is a beasty looking thing. But I am going to side with you on that exhaust it could have done with being under the rear fairing, it looks like an after thought which is a shame as there has been so much attention to detail on the rest of the bike.

Theodore Athens
Aww bless you two are so cute. If I get a girl she's gonna have to either be into bikes already, or be prepared to love them lol
AWESOME job! And a great rider.
Okay now where can I find a girl like you? You are sweet..
It was such a lovely, humble and a I found the review innocent in a way..thank you very much
Love that Tuono in white!
I wonder if anything stupider than hedgerows right up to the roadway could possibly have been devised?
I have a Diavel Dark! Id like to ride her though...
Awesome! This is why bikers love riding. I am itching to get a test ride :D
Definitely. The bike is beautiful (even if I would have had it in Red :P )
01:44 The game is up, you can hear Russ telling you what to say on a radio. Lol!
The wheels are just phenomenal! They are... black and... eh... chrome.
lol, keep it up!
Yeah, it's mine, all miiiine I tell ya!! lol. Will be doing my version of the review real soon. :-D
there is a downside for 1080...takes a lil bit long to dl. ahhh! 360 it is!
Russ may be able to answer that one but with 1200cc I imagine it's no issue for this bike.
As a passenger the seat is quite small, and iI prefer the big armchair comfort of the pan European or fazer 1000
I did ask Russ to buy me 4th gear for Christmas!!! Lol
It made made me laugh like that when i test rode one, take a look at my clip,i love this bike!! defiantly my next one.
Amused by the "russ fiddling [sic] as usual" :) nice review :)
Nice to get a womans review of biking , very well reported ( think Russ has competition lol )
Beautiful bike , but not sure of them exhausts :(
Hope we see more reviews from you ,
That laugh at 7:49 gave me nightmares
Great vid though and gorgeous bike
