12:09 I love how this episode just casually dropped the bombshell that the Richard E Grant Ninth Doctor is still canonical! I just wish they also included Rowan Atkinson as well.
19:10 I hadn't realized how short Ruby was until this episode. They used Ruby's height to great effect to make her seem vulnerable. Also, I love this Doctor, he is so... alien, like Colin Baker in a good way 😃
When you said "I'm getting no personality from this guy" I almost shouted "It's Jonathan Groff! Who needs personality?!?" I think anyone who knows Jonathan Groff as an actor -- and he is extremely popular (just won a Tony for 'Merrily We Roll Along' also starring Daniel Radcliffe, starred in Hamilton, and he's done a ton of TV) -- sees personality in everything he does. Confirmation bias, if you will. Anyway, he charmed the heck out of me from the first moment. But, yes, like most things this season the beats were rushed. Great reaction, thanks!
Susan Twist was in the painting. I liked this episode, but it was a light one. I love when Doctor Who goes dark, but it doesn´t have to be dark everytime. It is good with different moods and levels to different episodes.
9:45 What - what? Pride and Prejudice? Jane Austen is one of my fav satirists. It's a shame that few people get her. I wish only the best for your channel!
I agree with a lot of your opinions about this episode. I feel like this story would have worked better if it was more like smith and jones, where they are trying to track down a killer alien and getting to know a “new companion”. I think they are basing the doctors quick infatuation with rouge as being kind of like how the doctor is drawn to river song and jack, but they didn’t give rogue much characterization besides his role in the story
12:34 "There is nothing wrong with getting married." Jane Austin in her novel Emma: "A woman is not to marry a man merely because she is asked" and "You must be the judge of your own happiness." Keep these thoughts in your forethought and choose your man wisely - should you desire a man. If you have not read "Emma", you must 😍
THANKS!!! Question: Did 15 fall in love with Ja-I mean, Rogue faster than 10 fell for the Fireplace Girl? Hmm.... Your problem with 15 sounds a lot like the problem I had with 5 about 40 years ago...It's done purposely the way it was done then, I believe!
I have been thinking Girl in the Fireplace a bit, and in general it is a better written episode (though I have a lot of the same complaints ngl). I think Reinette's personality put her on more equal footings with the Doctor than Rogue, and since she tended to be the one to initiate the Doctor just kind of accidentally felt something for her--in this episode, the Doctor is actively seeking out Rogue as a romantic interest and because the audience doesn't know Rogue it felt to me rushed and odd, given I saw no reason why the Doctor would be interested in him. Girl in the Fireplace felt like she blindsided him accidentally, Rogue felt like he was Making An Effort to fall in love and then feel sad. Also interesting you compare him to 5, given he's one of--if not my all time--favourite Doctors! We shall see if 15 grows on me the same way.
21:30 I agree. Jack Harkness was developed over several episodes and had a dynamic relationship with the Doctor. He was both fun and unpredictable. The same was done for Riversong. Rogue felt like a one-off character.
No, it's not a historical. its a spoof on Bridgerton (none the worse for that) and should not be judged against real history. I thought it was a reasonable standard Dr Who episode - fun while it lasts but not particularly memorable.
I hate this show so much. Black Dr.Who should have been more like Black Panther or Killmanger with a touch of Captain Cisco from Deep Space Nine 🤔 😂😅🎉🎉🎉
We need more episodes than 8, Rogue could be two parter
I think Doctor WHO works with 12+ episodes

If Grant is canon, then Peter Cushing (who played the human actually known as "Dr. Who") needs to be canon as an alt-reality Doctor :)
@@IsiahBradley Could be explained in a "Family of Blood" way where the Doctor uses the chameleon arch to hide away as a human.

Agreed, it was far from the best of series but it was enjoyable all the same
14:04 Yeah, 45 minutes is not enough. The rushed intimacy gives off that one-shot vibe.

12:45 I 💗that Willie Wonka song!
21:15 Spoken like a true reader of novels 😃

Bridgerton meets Sesame Street 🕺🕴💃 👿
I like this episode with only two complaints the kiss and the Shalka Doctor who is not canon.
This who be better with a man and woman in the romantic scenes.
With a gay black Dr.Who, this whole episode was completely predictable 😒 😮😢. The first gay was going to happen sooner or later!
I'm so tired of seeing a black Dr.Who crying in every episode. The Doctor makes all black men look weak!
Come on,man! This show is terrible, and the writing is completely DEI woke hot garbage.
watch it bozo it s great show
They trying too hard to make like and except this gay Dr.Who, but most people just don't like him!
Dude STFU, the Doctor has been gay since 1966. Ever heard of Jamie McCrimmon?
because he black
