Did you also notice how different his ship, the Tynan, was treated to how the Roci was at the ring?
Roci got politeness and calm, the Tynan got a demand and a target lock.

This is when the show got cancelled and then paused for a bit before being taken by Amazon (I think you mentioned a few episodes back you knew that happened actually). I noticed a bit of a budget and a few directing changes, but the story of course still follows the books and includes the authors so that's the same (as amazing) as ever.
Can't wait to see what you make of Season 4 compared to the other 3 you've watched. Curious to know if you've started reading any of the books yet, if you'd like to share. Seeing Mars was great this time around, it did feel time after seeing some of the Belt and Earth. I loved the awkwardness of the conversation between Naomi and Holdens' parents :)
I'm glad you're back! Moving can be very frustrating. I'm glad you took the times you need. If anything... it means you get to save The Expanse for that much longer! I hope you like this season. It's a bit different. I always think it kinda feels like "The Empire Strikes Back" of the seasons. I'm glad we have seasons 5 and 6.... but 7, 8, and 9... you'll have to read... and that's when things REALLY get crazy!

14:42 the book says that the trip from the Belt to Ilus is about 18 months, though in the show a lot of travel times are compressed
16:14 it's easy to miss but that's the irish man that holden was talking to on his phone earlier, the commander of the RCE mission. although he's never given a name or many lines, his death has a big impact on the situation because of who takes over in his absence

You caught the aspect ratio change when we visit Illus!
So you asked if it was wrong that your first thought that was the belters involved when the ship crashed? I think they leaned our thinking into that direction!

All the bumps, yes. It takes a lot of injection to get a body up to dealing with a full G of gravity.
As for what is happening on New Terra/Illus, things may look like something however, that does not mean that, that thing is what it first appears to be. It could simply be something else or it could be that it is a thing which is more than we first thought. It is complicated.
Clarissa went by "Melba," so Amos nicknamed her "Peaches" after the dessert "peach melba." Interesting that Amos had initially wanted to kill her, but then struck up a relationship with her. Also interesting that Amos had an interest in Avasarala's fashion style.
Aspect ratio change...yes. For a thematic reason.
The exterior scenes were shot at a quarry near Toronto.
Illus has 12 identical, equally spaced moons.
Alex should have had nearly as much trouble on Illus as Naomi. He's a Martian sailor...he hasn't had the Marine training at 1 gee. And even then, he's never been on a surface with an open horizon...he should have had as much trouble as the sailors who landed on earth with Bobbie.
The conversation between Chief Murtry and the now-deceased captain of the Edward Israel deserved attention. The RCE Corporation has gotten a charter to mine the lithium on Illus from Earth and Mars...with no OPA agreement, even though it's supposed to be a three-way treaty (RCE is like Exxon...yes, they have scientists, but their business is resource extraction). That was _after_ the Ganymede refugees had already proven the lithium on Illus. Murtry's job on Illus is to kick off the Belters, and it's a job he's done before.
13 moons (nit-picking, I know)
The people arriving at the end aren't on behalf of Earth or Mars exactly - it's a corporate venture. I believe it's an Earth corporation, but it's not really there as a flag-planting operation but to make money.
I do believe that ship was officially there to survey Ilus with an eye to setting up unspecified future mining operations. That is certainly part of any money-making plan, but sort of a loss leader.

I believe Avasarala told Holden the UN had granted that company a charter for Ilus. More honestly, the company had probably outbid or outbribed its competitors. The expedition to Ilus had been officially permitted, but instructed not to displace or disturb the Belter refugees, just like Holden was been permitted to take the Rocinante there as long as he could refrain from sticking his dick in a situation that was already fubared.

Alex's priorities (as shown) are driven by what drives the story forward. There is no evidence that he didn't call his son.
