Heartbreaking. Oscar was 80 years old in 2005 and this must have been one of the last concerts he gave. This has always been one of my favorite tunes. Bless you, Oscar, for all the years of great music. Also rest in peace, Niels-Henning.

Such great comments by an amazing collection of appreciative, knowledgeable people leaving comments. Very feeling group. Losing Oscar Peterson, Niels-Henning Pedersen, Joe Pass, Bill Evans, Stan Getz, Miles Davis, etc. is heart-breaking. There will never be another period of musical geniuses like the 50s and 60s gave us. It was a high-water mark never to be achieved again it seems.

I think I would like to pretend that Bill Evans never died. I know how crazy that sounds, but I love Bill Evans for making me feel the way I do when he plays. I cannot explain it. Listening to "Never Let Me Go" for the nearly 15 minutes he plays is like my soul got touched and I left the earth crying all the way. I need to stop.

This too was one of my all time favorites of Oscar's. Saw him play it several times on both coasts. Talked with him briefly after one of his concerts at Symphony Hall in Boston, while I was a student at Berklee Music College in the mid-80s. He was generous with his advice and as personal as though I was a friend. It only deepened my lifelong, heartfelt joy at his technique and musicality.

@Dominic Mullan……you are so very right and this kind of performance be it musical or simply as a reflection of our incredible ability to being creative, openly throws a bright light of how we can benefit from a single note, a gesture of love. Sadly our dark side seeps into what could be a permanent display of what should be a wonderful future for us now and for all the generations to come. But then I am the eternal idealist and have forever felt that music in all its forms is our ultimate saviour.

Very impressive ... I had the privelege to see him at Marciac in 2004, and i remember how it was moving when he confessed that he could not really use his left hand, and Everyone understood why he has a very gifted bassman close to him on the stage, and the second time when he played a ballad and cried at the end of it saying that it was the preferred music of his late wife.

Have loved Oscar for a long time.
Wish I'd gotten around to seeing in person.
    I'm tonally and rhythmically challenged,
but still pretty not too bad at knowing what sounds good.
I think the thing with some people who "don't get" jazz is
that they try to listen too actively
instead of just enjoying the ride.
    But that's just a long-time novice listener's opinion.
    Play it again Oscar!

The Worlds best bassist died shortly after this show. I heard him in Oslo at the Django Festival 2001 together with
Bireli Lagrene (The worlds best Jazz Guitarist) and Florin Niculescu (Violin). I was spellbound by the play and interaction
    between these three masters !

Just glad to see a jazz musician from his era make it past 40 something. Those cats used to smack and booze it up. Oscar kept it clean and his longevity was a testament to that

J’ai vu Oscar sur cette tournée ! Je suis admiratif et triste ! Je ne peux m’empêcher de penser aux versions fulgurantes des 60’s avec Ray …. :-(
    That’s Life!
Ulf est une des meilleurs guitariste de notre génération , qui a su être exactement le guitariste de Oscar à la fin de sa vie! Love! Live! :-)
