Also, is there any way to reach the potentiometer without having to tear down the system? Seems like a lot of work for just a little adjustment. Hey. I have a Problem with the pot tweak i burned Sonic Heroes to a blank Mini DVd-r Disk at 4x full Speed . So my normal original ohm value was around 150 Ohm and i saw the Heroes Emblem in the right bottom Corner But then it was giving an Error. So i tweaked IT Up and IT wont read the Disk at all. I tweaked IT down below 150 and IT worked but i Set IT to around 11 Ohm and IT is fine but in the First Level loading Screen IT IS giving me a Dre. I Heard that there is a Second resistor that is Always 150 Ohm and even when i Go to Zero ohm with the pot i would be still at 150 theoretically ? Should i Go Up again or what should i do over 150 Ohm IT wouldnt read the Game at all. I need Help i want to Play 😅😅 Edit; i have a dol-001
@@RockerGaming It was Imgburn with mediarange mini dvd-r 's but now i tried burning it with cd burner xp and now its fully working i set the pot to the factory setting it was around 150 and now everything i burn runs without any dres or what so ever;)
I like to keep mine at 75 ohms or higher. Having said that there are other factors that play into it. Such as the quality of the burned media, mileage on your laser, and condition of the caps on the DVD drive. If you opt to keep your drive that low id burn a copy of Swiss and use it to boot games from SD card to laser usage is minimal.

I would practice technique on old electronics and then once you are comfortable with good soldering technique then I would try an led mod, once you can do that, move onto something like this. This mod isnt terribly difficult, but it really helps to have good technique.
@@RockerGaming wow thank you for the thorough reply! I will do exactly this 😁😁
Hey, Rocker. Just wanted to tell some good news & bad news, about something in this video. Bad news, the link to the GC Service Disc's ISO is invalid, now. The good news, it's on Vimm. Just fix the link, and that'd be good for future users of this tutorial.
I need Help i want to Play 😅😅
Edit; i have a dol-001
I would check your burn. what kind of discs are you using? What software did you use to do your burn?
@@RockerGaming It was Imgburn with mediarange mini dvd-r 's but now i tried burning it with cd burner xp and now its fully working i set the pot to the factory setting it was around 150 and now everything i burn runs without any dres or what so ever;)
I had to adjust the potentiometer from 170 ohms to 20 ohms to get it to play backups. Is this normal?
I like to keep mine at 75 ohms or higher. Having said that there are other factors that play into it. Such as the quality of the burned media, mileage on your laser, and condition of the caps on the DVD drive. If you opt to keep your drive that low id burn a copy of Swiss and use it to boot games from SD card to laser usage is minimal.
@@RockerGaming Hm, allright. Probably the media then, it was quite cheap. Will have to do some more testing. Thanks man.
So I bought some Sony discs and yeah wow, it made all the difference. Could boot it 50% of the time at 140 ohms and its stable around ~115 ohms now.
@@Xaikar haha yep it makes a massive difference! Glad you got it significantly more stable now!!
Dude you should put some tape on the poor drive lens
Thanks!!
No problem glad it helped you! Make sure you sub I do tons of mod and project videos and love doing GC stuff!
@@RockerGaming You earned the sub!
Thank you sir, glad to have your on board :)
