I tried it but stripped the connections on the board (come off real easy compared to other consoles) tried connecting at different points tracing the circuit but could never get it working so had to give up. didn't damage the console though (plays like normal, its a PAL cube).

Hi. I am not sure. I don't get to play much. I think I read that it is console specific, not game specific. So any region of game, but memory card must be formatted to the console. Would have to verify this.

Also, I saw that you adjusted the voltage for the laser unit, was that just so it would play backups and homebrews? I only want the Japanese console to play pal games so would I need to adjust the voltage of the laser unit.
@@dangoddard3159 hi. Cheers. Yes, this will let you play PAL games on your Japanese console. Laser adjustment is only for backups. I actually made a mistake in this video. Testing with the case top off in a light room probably affected the lasers ability to read the discs so I probably adjusted too much to get it working.
In what way does it "look like shit"? I have done many of these and wire is the most reliable way of doing it. It's easy to undo and easy to troubleshoot in case of problems. Trust me, many people destroy the solder points doing the direct install. Thanks for your thoughtful and insightful comment.
@@ConsolesUnleashed maybe saying it looks like shit is a bit harsh because your solder joints and everything look okay but the extra wires just seem unnecessary. At least out of the direct solder ones I've seen done they've always been fine sitting on top and still work great today. I guess really it's personal preference but if you have the solder skills to direct solder it's going to leave the inside looking as natural as possible.

Not sure how you managed that. Did you attempt a direct install or wired?

This is late but it’s fine as long as you buy another memory card or your PAL save data could get affected.

24 is too thick and heavy for the fine solder points. You need 28 or 30.

Wasn't that chip designed to sit over all the points and be direct soldered and not wired? You make a compact design look like shit.
