Andrew has been doing this longer and he is the GOAT, but this video hit it out of the park, and you aren’t far behind. Having been through a series of Mother Nature catastrophes here in No Cal (huge fire, huge mudslide from floods off the fire, loss of seventy feet of 10” mainline on the side of a cliff above the slide, and a heavy snow that toppled hundreds of giant oak trees), the thought of adding the time and effort to video all of our battle against all of that is , well, daunting; and I appreciate more what you and Andrew are doing with your talents and efforts. It is really appreciated by those of us who love this stuff. Thanks to the both of you.
I find it quite comforting to know there are still young men like Jesse and Andrew out there working their butts off to make their way in the world. Keep it up, son.
I am another one who watches Andrew and now you have impressed me as you are another young man who knows what day it is. Also like Andrew, you are a hard worker. You guys restore my faith in young people. I have worked with so many that don't know which way is up.
All I can say is WOW! to great young men who truly understand that the only way you become somebody in this world is by getting your hands dirty. A hard day of work never killed anybody. Andrew is my number1 guy so I'll make you # 2. New subscriber.
Great job. As a former Parts Counterman for a Navistar Dealership and a DIY Mechanic I can tell you have been around some Mechanics and a Shop before. Checking everything while it's open always helps prevent future problems. Good work on your Camera placement, lighting, and Narration. I'm sure we had a better view than you did most of the time and I did not envy you while lifting the Flywheel, Clutch, and other components in place. Nice to see Transmission was Safely secured to the Transmission Jack. Keep up the great work!
Nice work. Really great build. I did VW trans when they were Beetles. A big red scotsman told me I would never fix it. Well - I fixed it and drove it down to his shop 2 days later. Thank you.
When the sound went away in high gear I assumed it was related to the secondary shaft or counter shaft. Nice looking truck. Love those old Internationals.
good job Jesse , jesse is my son and I taught him everything he knows lol not realy but I did start him out now I go to him for answers. i'm to old for this kind of work so it's up to him now and thanks Jesse for the link to my vids
Dan Wheeler: congrats Dan, judging by what we see here from Jesse, I’d say you were a great dad! I go to my boy for solutions now too, so I fully understand.
Fine job in past years did a good amount of that same gear replacement. A cowboy behind the wheel or a muddy foot that dropped the clutch, that with the combination of a bad pilot bearing shortened its life. But I was always happy finding this kinds of trucks. Easy repair and a quick turnaround on the money. In your case looks like you picked up a decent truck for the right money 💵. Great content 👍
Finally, someone who uses locktight on their bolts. Good job Jesse. Done like pro. Those marks on the head of the bolts often tell you their torque using a chart that includes length of the bolt. I used to have that chart years ago.
I know Jack about truck and even less about how to repair them. But I really enjoyed watching you do the repair on the transmission. Thanks for sharing.
I drove a 4700 for 7 years, Love that truck. Super dependable, I think you got a great truck. Just finished the video, You are a Boss! Awesome work and get it done attitude..
Just discovered your channel I watch Andrew all the time I am not a construction worker and don’t know anything about running heavy equipment or mechanics but I enjoy learning and watching these kinds of videos. You two guys are very similar thank you for the entertainment 👍
We had an 89 with a hiab and an 18' deck. I loved the truck! Laid many miles of pipe with it. I remember being new and there was a main break. They asked if I knew how to drive stick. No problems getting to the scene, then tried shutting off the ignition. I couldn't figure out why it would not shut off. Decided just to stall it, then figured out what the chrome T handle was for.
Jesse, i am obsessed with International (95 and older dt466) trucks! It's my dream to have one. Going to see one tomorrow. Really exciting to know how to change the clutch now :) thanks brother!
Those International Harvester trucks were amazing workhorses. In the late 60s and early 70s my family’s construction company used and abused them with little down time.
Wow, that was impressive no shop to work in. 90% of my vehicles are standards and the last repair was a clutch plate on my Jetta and it wasn't cheap after watching your video I have a new perspective on what is involved
Don't forget to paint the name of your company on the side of it. I recall one video where Andrew got stopped and had to do it. I enjoy your videos, thank you.
You, I must say are by far one of the very best at explaining every little thing you do in great detail. Great Job and are now one of the first streamers I will be looking forward to seeing great things from. :)
Good looking truck,I drove one like that in 94/95 working for Johnson construction rocking driveways and pulling his float after i came home from the navy,i later gave up my C D Ls for a job in maintenance at the post office but i really missed that old truck, something different to do every day.Good video sir.
Good looking old truck. Nobody needs a brand new one to drive through mud holes and get beat to death with gravel and rock. You either do a lot of buying and selling equipment or you have an acre of it. Every time I watch a video you have a different excavator or skid steer.

When I do one where it has to be bolted a certain way, I either paint it where the bolt needs to go (like on a flywheel to torque converter on a Subaru) or use a center punch and center punch next to the "top" bolt hole... On a side note... I have an 1989 International S1600 26" Uhaul Box truck... Thanks to your repair skills you know have a nice and extremely versatile single axle dump truck to help you earn a living. And of course it is my favorite manufacturer. She's a "Cornbinder."
Bought an 80 Malibu V8 once with a serious engine knock and a hard starting problem. My first suspicion was the timing was off and the engine having a broken crankshaft. Turns out the guy I bought it from had replaced an old bad engine with another used engine, didn't shim the starter which resulted in the binding of the starter gear against the transmission flexplate (flywheel) causing several cracks which made a lot of noise. Had to pull the trans, replace the flexplate and shim the starter. Ran fine after that.
International Harvester is my favorite truck , they have a parts listing for every truck they have built and can get the parts . I have a 1972 model 1910 tandem with only 47,000 miles ( I have known this truck since new ) But I really like the size truck you picked up , nice around the farm and firewood hauler .I picked up a F 800 Ford just did the same deal clutch and sticking thro-out bearing , The bad deal with it is the rear brakes not one of Fords better idea . Great video
Nice work, I liked International trucks for years I used them. Thats a nice looking truck you made go again. Watching you made me want to paint the box and fix up the interior while watching your video. You and Andrew Carmareta have a knack for making videos. I have done almost all the same things in the past and really cant now but; its great watching you guys work. Thanks
Pilot bushing goes into the crankshaft not the flywheel but good job and saved a ton of money. I love International trucks and you bought a nice one, thanx for posting.
Very good repair on your transmission, I have worked on many of these and the two cogs have a habit of dropping teeth and it is mainly the input shaft. As for the stuffed pilot bearing it normally causes two problems, one clutch shudder, two springing out of fifth gear. Many regards

Truck really sounded great after your work, you guys in this part of the country are awesome and I’d love to be your neighbor some day. Also this area is beautiful, Wow that rainbow was a perfect ending to this video! Now off to watch your dads video, thanks
very nicely done there last gearbox i done was on a ford cargo 0813/ 1989 with a dover 6cyl engine i think i remember the gear box was a ZF S5 35/2 5 speed manual gearbox what a night mare that was well done with your up load keep up the good work
Nice truck you scored there. Good diagnostics and great repair. Seems to me thought that the noise goes away in fifth because you are not using the counter shaft for fifth. In fifth the input shaft is directly connected to the output shaft thereby eliminating the counter shaft and those missing teeth. Great video Oh and nice gift from dad too.
it can get a little more complicated if you have to take out the mainshaft and countershafts. I have done several over the years, this was one of the easier ones for sure
Firstly Nice Truck looks good. You are a sharpie to work on the gearboxes. Maybe tidy up the truck when you get some time. Align bumper. Give the Bin a light sanding and a coat of black paint. A overall pressure clean would make it look smart.

That rainbow is beautiful, thanks for that vid, I like seeing how its done, thankfully you can do yourself saves money, I'll check your dad's vid I like wood turning. Peace
subscribed! Great Video! i love to see guys working on their own truck in their yard with hand tools. gives me a lot of motivation to keep working on mine.
I got my First Hernia Lifting a 5 Speed Spicer with a PTO, old School Parking Break System and the complete Clutch Pack and Flywheel Wired on the input Shaft. Drug it out from under the Truck picked it. Up and walked across the Shop to the rebuild Table. Didn't know I was Broken til I took a Shower that night.
Thanks for the good video. I watch you and Andrew all the time. One tip though you should get a lisle 44900 lock ring plied for rings such as the input shaft bearing it makes removal and installation a breeze. The lock rings don't fly off with these. Also a lisle 12980 bearing driver kit or equivalent they are aluminum drivers that do not Mar metal.
A few helpful hints when working on medium duty and big trucks... The easiest and best way to pull a trans by far is to unbolt the trans from the bell housing, get it out then pull the bellhousing and clutch assy. off, do the reverse on reassembly. Also best to just drain the oil and pull the PTO off the trans, if you use a clean container and the oil is good you can always refill it later. And last...figure out which gear is direct, (1:1) if you have an overdrive trans it’ll be 1 before the highest, but in your case it’s 5th is direct. If the trans makes any kind of noise in every gear EXCEPT direct that means it’s an issue with the countershaft(s), as power goes straight through the trans and bypasses the countershaft(s) in direct gear. You make some Great videos, hopefully a few tips from a dummy like me that works on the big junk can be of help!

That's a really good looking truck , outside and under , especially for 30 year old truck
nice truck.. glad you got it fixed on the cheap
Great little truck Jesse. Wish it had air verses juice brakes but nonetheless a great truck. I have a 87 S1900 with a DTA466 can't kill em.
Great job. Stuck with it and got the job done. And as a bonus the cab was cleaned out.
All done with 1 off day. Expert time management
Nice work Jesse, good luck with the new truck.
Jeez the interior looks great compared too trucks newer than what you have there, perfect starter truck. Cheers !
