Jesse, you can easily make that paint look like new. I did this on my motorhome. Wash the surface down with Dawn detergent. Then dab a wet scrubpad in a cleanser (I used Bar Keepers Friend) and lightly glide it over the painted surface and rinse with clear water before it dries. You only want to remove the crud, not the sound paint. When the surface feels smooth, wash the paint down with Dawn again. When the surface is completely dry put on a pair of long vinyl gloves. Get a liquid floor polish such as DEP from Home Depot or Lowe's. Pour some in a paint roller tray. Don't forget to put on the gloves. Dip a padded microfiber cloth into the polish and wring it out so that you apply only a thin coat of polish on the paint. ! gallon goes a long way. Too much polish and you will get unsightly runs that are almost impossible to remove. Apply the polish evenly across the surface. Let it dry between coats. You will see results immediately but you need at least 2 or 3 coats. I used 2 coats, got a high shine and the graphics came alive. H/D now sells ZEP in a Wet Look which should be interesting. When I got the motorhome it looked terrible. I scrubbed the 1992 E350 cab twice with auto polish cleaner and couldn't get the dead paint off. Using the above method gave the cab a showroom shine. Good luck. Don't forget the long gloves.
that sounds like alot of worker for an excavator thats already beat the hell and is only gonna get more punishment.. i dont think its really about having nice glossy paint i think its more so about having an even layer over everything so its not 3 different shades and rusty in 7 spots and bright marks wherever there used to be a sticker or mount
I remember when Samsung first released their line of excavators in the US, we used to think they looked so futuristic with the curved front windshield. If you don't end up using the other excavator, you can swap the bigger undercarriage under this one and have a hybrid. It would compliment the taller bucket.
My company works on different equipment, but what is nice about watching this is that folks can see what it takes to get this stuff functional or set up to use. There is no user's manual, only experience and processes that apply to different things. Buying used gear cheap that you can repair or restore is always a better way to go if you plan on keeping it. We just replaced the entire drive train in one of our 98 dodge 1 ton 4x4's except for the axles, and it was still way cheaper than buying a new truck, and it's paid for! :) We really enjoy the vids, thanks!
Wow, that new bucket is great! It appears to have bosses for a "pincher" attachment, for like picking up logs with the bucket as half of the "jaw". I think it's great to have a large deposit of parts for the one really good machine. Decal residue? The BEST I ever used for boats & cars is Maguire's Cleaner wax, scrubbed with a sponge polisher. As far as a pipe wrench goes: “If it don’t say Rigid, it ain’t no good”. Instead of tac welding the bushings, weld a small piece of flat bar to hold it in.
Turned out pretty good. I was wondering about a trailer but I see you answered that lol. Also appears to have had a thumb at one time. 4bt engine will be good to work on. lots of them around in equipment and even boats.
Great video Jesse plus some very useful comments from knowledgeable viewers . Please do a video on work that you will be doing to the trailer for the Samsung 130 .
i think i thought about buying those machines when they were available. looks like you did alright but not welding the shank adapters all the way out is messing with my ocd
Great purchase Jesse at a bargain price. Of course you had the abilities to make right what was wrong with it and make it an even better buy! I agree with you that this machine may not be brought out on every job but when you need it, the machine will pay itself off in no time! Can't wait to see you fix the trailer up so you can haul this little bad boy around. Enjoyed this video and looking forward to that video!
I enjoy watching these types of excavation videos these are young men who get it done they have learned there is no right or wrong way just what works for them I applaud their efforts keep up the good work
Samsung was a great machine, i still have mine and we bought it new. When they were new they were the fastest machine on the market. Mine currently has 8800 hours and runs great.
A: The shot with the GoPro, on the arm, filling the dump truck, was AWESOME. You are getting quite good at cinematography! B: Get that puppy a manual thumb as soon as you are able.
Dear J.R. 👍👌👏 Yeah, you are definitely not the only one! 😁 Even a small hairdryer produces enough heat and does not damage the paint. A heat gun is probably dangerous for a guy like this. Best regards luck and health.
Dear @@MikeHarris1984 As long as you don't try to dry out your ear canals with a heat gun everything is okay! Of course real men use gas torches so that the ear hairs are removed simultaneously! 😁😂 Best regards, luck and health.
Jesse congratulations on your new toy. I know you work alot in the dirt and almost everyone will disagree but i just want to say giving the machine a good clean up and keep dirt off the machine after jobs will keep the rust away and keep the machine looking good for a long time. Also where you can buy a nice Cat yellow paint and keep all the machines looking good and new. My dad used to say it costs nothing to make something old look good.
Maybe add your company logo as well. If you don't have one, a local graphic designer could create it relatively inexpensively. Put it on all your equipment, nice professional appearance to represent your company.
Hey Jesse it definitely wouldn't hurt to run some hard surfacing rods on the side cutters as they are quite rounded from use, seems to dig well. All the best !🇨🇦🇺🇸
Jesse I so enjoy watching all your videos. You make them so interesting. I think you got a great buy on that machine. It will pay for its self in a short time. You are smart to buy a good used or fixer upper and you fix it and get it running great. better than going in dept and owing hundreds of thousands of dollars. Best of luck with the machine and your company.
Great video! But one thing, I winced when I saw the rusty chain tight across the nice shiny chrome plated hydraulic ram on the old digger at 10:00. I've just changed seals on my rams because the damaged plating wore them out and I was losing a lot of oil.
Samsung heavy industries was bought by Volvo so you know that they had something good going on! Nice "two-fer" purchase! Look forward to the work on the trailer!
That is great Jesse I so enjoy watching all your videos. You make them so interesting. I think you got a great buy on that machine. It will pay for its self in a short time.
To fill in that huge gap after you made all those passes you can drop a long 1/2" bolt in there and weld it in and then trim off the length. Key stock will work, go to the scrap pile and find some steel to drop in there. I don't know about strength? But let's face it... it won't be "Less Strong" than where you gave up. Another option is to make a trip to the welding store and buy a few pounds of a larger rod? If any of those teeth snap off I can promise it will not happen at a convenient time. Nice excavator!!! 👍👍👍
Great video Jesse. Hoping you have good luck with it. I think you would strip the other machine for stuff you may need down the road. Like glass and doors. Only if you don't plan on fixing the other one up totally.
Hey Jesse - Your videos are 100% totally fantastic! Always learn some things and really like all of your genuine qualities. You display confidence but never arrogance - not always for some I've seen. Thanks again for what you do. Am already looking forward to the next one.

Hey, next time you have to cut those mounts or teeth off.. you can use a gas powered demo saw with an 18 inch cutoff/ fiber disc and they come off easy.. plus you can sure use it on other stuff ... I use a Stihl 420.. saves so much grief. Thanks for the vid !
Jesse; watching your videos are always an adventure! You are certainly skilled in modifying, customizing, making Rube Goldberg devices and making do, yet you always seem to make it work.
6011 is a decent rod for great penetration. if you get a DC machine use the 6010 rod. its like the 6011 only better I think. not beautiful beads but penetration is awesome! then top it with a 7018 low hydrogen for the look. I'm no welder by a long stretch but I think most welders use a 6010 for root passes then 7018 to cap. this equals strong welds. additionally you could cap that 6011 weld with a 7014 for a final pass and it would look GREAT! 7014 is low penetration but looks great as a top finish pass.
Dear Jesse, on behalf of a greatful nation thank you for considering all the dozen reasonable, efficient and generally accepted ways to changing out the ripper teeth of your Cat bucket and then forging ahead with Choice 13. Keep swinging, Dude.
Sweet machine for sure. I have a feeling you'll be able to do some fast foundation digs with it. Should pay for its self pretty quick. Time is always the enemy, that thing is going to save you LOTS of time down the road.
you and Andrew should do a joint video. I think his video talents and your mechanical aptitude and your voice and his video presence when it comes to video would help both of you. Maybe a collective video would be awesome if you and he mixed a little bit of your video talents.
Can't beat the ol Samsungs I know of a few still on commercial work only thing holding them back is the engine the 4bt wasent really big enough swapped a few 6bts in them back when they where on the hire fleet but tbh one of the best 14 tonnes I've ever had the pleasure to work with
thats good to hear. you swapped a 6bt into a 130 size? I feel like I am happy with the power, it never even comes close to stalling. I also never hear the turbo at all so I thought it just wasnt needing thr turbo much
Koreans make some pretty good excavators. There is an old 220 Samsung around here with a processor. Same deal as yours all the electronics are toast. They've rigged it with Murphy gauges, hand throttle and some West Coast guarding. Its a good machine and it earns its keep
That new excavator came from the Mulch yard down the street from my house in Wilmington Delaware. Copeland’s mulch. They sold out to a larger company last year and liquidated old equipment.
The pins on the gauge cluster need to be soldered to their individual circuit board traces. I have fixed so many similar to that 60s and 70s dodge gauge printed circuit clusters. The pins are basically rivets. The harness vibration wiggles them loose.
I see a crack in the side of the bucket it’s on the side your left hand is when you are setting in the machine, nice kool good job, thanks BigAl California.
You could always cut that long pin about 2” out from the bushing drill a hole and use a spacer with bolt to hold the pin in and just drill a hole in the middle of the flush pin and just bolt a piece of flat bar to hold the bushings in. Use a heat gun and a plastic body tool/bondo spreader to slide those letters right off. Never knew you could get those style weld on shanks, need to get some for my track loader as they are shot on it. Love the vids man, keep em coming.
Since watching you change the cab on your truck to now is miles of experience and so think that in the next short while, as in not a bunch of years but oh to be fair fifteen months or more of running your own company... you will have only to look back and smile and say to yourself "I did it!" and you did. Its not a new machine but the payments are in learning it and fixing it. I really hope that you repair the other one as until your able to move your own, I see that as a handicap.Nothing but a thing but not to hurry and cost you over common sense. I have a feeling that you might watch guys like Matt at Diesel Creek or Lets dig 18 with Criss and make plans or get ideas on how to bid paying jobs and make some real money. I don't know how the virus is affecting work there but hope its not pulling you down... mighty proud of you
Very interesting and enjoyable, Jesse. Looks like you got some Plexiglas in there, too. Had to laugh with the teeth - too big, then too small - but like the Pappa bear, the Momma bear and baby bear, these were JUST right and if they weren't, you made 'em work! Thanks much, Jesse and looking forward to more excavator videos.
You say it's not perfect well if it works and works just the way you want I think it's perfect you grown so much in such a little time I'm just extremely Proud of you Young Man I so hope that your videos will show all of these guys that they can do it too been on your channel for a while now and I/we are very impressed keep growing my friend and appreciate your values your family and mostly everyone thumbs up again stay blessed
thank you, I appreciate such good feedback. The machine still works great, a thumb is still on the wishlist, but right now I just want to get my new house built. Been waiting on engineers for months now to get started
Great Video, Been watching all your rebuild/restore videos. For stickers/decals order in a rubber eraser wheel. Chuck it into a drill and rub em off in no time. Can get em on Amazon or Ebay. Keep up the good work.
We are working on pins and bushings all the time. Take a 4" or 5" piece of 1" cold roll, or about a 1" diameter bolt and weld it to a big sledgehammer. Then with a little aim and practice you can knock stubborn pins on through with some hard swinging.
when welding teeth on or track grouser bar, standard id a low hydrogen rod, 8018. 80,000 lb strength, 5/32 or 3/16 rod, i have used 1/4" many times just a few passes.. and done.. root pass 6011, your cuts on the old shanks should be tapered as well ,, not a strait wall. hope they hold for you. not cheap if even one comes off. i an glad to see you had the brains not to use a mig.. i see your note saying one of these day you will buy a DC machine. i have told you in the past, you can buy 7018 as well as 8018 in an AC rod. and it welds nice.. i dont know how the usa works but it is not worth keeping up with a class A-Z drivers license, to move one peace of eqipment. some thing that heavy you cant us a class D-z witch is needed to drive a big dump truck, as you still can only have a towed veical weight of max 10,000 Lbs, you need a class A-Z same as any transport driver. i think in the usa it a CDL. not sure, and to keep a truck and trailer on the road, doth the truck and trailer must have a yearly safty check done on each peace, just to have a safty done on my F600 dump truck, the shop charges around $1500$ just for the safty. no parts or repairs, then plates for month is another $600 to give me a 1500kg GVW OR 33,000 lBS. TO MOVE ONE MACHINE AROUND ITS FAR CHEAPER AND FAR LESS STRESS JUST TO HIRE THE MOVES OUT
is the 7018AC as good or close to as good as 7018dc? somebody else said tractor supply carries 7018ac, If thats the case, then I will go get some tomorrow
thats crazy about the safety fees, my dump truck is about $40 a month in insurance, and less than 200 a year for regi, 10 for inspection. I am working on getting my cdl, I got my permit for CDL A , which is everything
@@jmuller86 yes the 7018 Ac rod is just as good. i am a welder by trade. it still also a 70,000 lb rod strength. but buy a good brand name, i use Air liquid Canada rod, blue sheld, antex. when buying rod it a lot cheaper buying by the case. there is 4, 10Lb boxs in a case, buying it in a 10 pond pack is more money as they mark it up for braking up a case. i have used thousands of ponds of both AC and DC rods in mt 58 years. to be honest. as a welder i cant see any diference between using the 7018 or 8018 Ac to the DC. my i have a 265 amp thunder bold welder AC-DC and i also have a 500 amp strait AC welder, very old one, it will run on 220 volt, 460 volt and 550. depending how you set the jumpers
@@jmuller86 the Z is air brake endorsement.. yes it is totaly a rip off. but the shop has to take every wheel, brake drum off, check brakes and measure the drums for a set minimum in side size, if wear it gone to far or close. drums must be replaced. they have to take a lot of stuff a part to check. these are done by truck shops that are licensed to do MTO safety, just like when you buy a new or used car. but anything 1 ton and up must have an MTO SAFETY EVERY 12 MONTHS. my insurance in under $200 cnd a year no collision on it just PL PD. then you have to wory about the scales on the hwy's they can pull you on the scale and do a look over every thing. they dont take anything a part. but if they dont like you, they will find some thing, and you cant leave until a licensed macanic repairs it
@@arnoldromppai5395 yea the DOT is really bad here in NY, but that safety inspection for you sounds like it could be here next. They are already doing some things like that in california
Hey after you tack on the homemade shims you can weld in a nut that fits the end of a grease fitting and weld that into one or both of the grooves in the shim and then you will have another grease point !
Ok bro After supporting Andrew's channel, Its your turn, Im Going to use every social media to support this channel 👍
? Andrew is still making TH-cam videos
I love watching you restore the old equipment and teaching how it's done. I just bought an old John Deere 350B so I am in the club now !

I also never hear the turbo at all so I thought it just wasnt needing thr turbo much
Enjoyed the video Jesse, lots of hammering and pounding and scheming. Good work using your noggin. Butch from Florence Texas
Nice man I appreciate the new content. I really like the vids of your saw mill. Seeing tree to structure is awesome.
Awesome video Jesse. I can't wait to see that thing pay for itself!!!
Congrats on the old-new equipment!
Awesome Jesse , That looks like a nice machine and in good shape . I am super happy for you .
They sold out to a larger company last year and liquidated old equipment.
so it spent its life digging mulch? better than dredging in the ocean I guess
Cutting tourch would of worked much faster, that’s crazy amont of work to change out the ripper mounts, thanks BigAl California.
Use the rest of those shins you bought, that bucket is still loose enough to tear stuff up.
Yeah the other pins need some work.
Looking fwd for your excellent content
You say it's not perfect well if it works and works just the way you want I think it's perfect you grown so much in such a little time I'm just extremely Proud of you Young Man I so hope that your videos will show all of these guys that they can do it too been on your channel for a while now and I/we are very impressed keep growing my friend and appreciate your values your family and mostly everyone thumbs up again stay blessed
thank you, I appreciate such good feedback. The machine still works great, a thumb is still on the wishlist, but right now I just want to get my new house built. Been waiting on engineers for months now to get started
Looks like another old machine saved by Jesse.. Good job..
Hey Jesse, interesting vid! Does your mate Andrew Camarta have the HD welding gear to loan you?
Nice new addition to the fleet. No doubt it will soon pay for it self.
Oh good job on getting it square nice I need one of your chop saws, nice not a lot of sparks, thanks BigAl California
Great video 👍 Jessie So you are a Dentist now😅 a great addition to your fleet getting up their with Dirtperfect.
Good to see another video Jesse. I love watching all your videos.
This guy reminds me so much of Andrew Camarata! Subscribed!
Love your content, keeping me enthralled! Shorter is better if you like. I'll be back. Thanks
Very good video as always, but at 43:12 it looks like the boom cilinder is touching the cab. Now you need a thumb.
I’m back. Love what you are doing. Nice Machine.
Great video, good luck with the new machine.
when welding teeth on or track grouser bar, standard id a low hydrogen rod, 8018. 80,000 lb strength, 5/32 or 3/16 rod, i have used 1/4" many times just a few passes.. and done.. root pass 6011, your cuts on the old shanks should be tapered as well ,, not a strait wall. hope they hold for you. not cheap if even one comes off. i an glad to see you had the brains not to use a mig.. i see your note saying one of these day you will buy a DC machine. i have told you in the past, you can buy 7018 as well as 8018 in an AC rod. and it welds nice.. i dont know how the usa works but it is not worth keeping up with a class A-Z drivers license, to move one peace of eqipment. some thing that heavy you cant us a class D-z witch is needed to drive a big dump truck, as you still can only have a towed veical weight of max 10,000 Lbs, you need a class A-Z same as any transport driver. i think in the usa it a CDL. not sure, and to keep a truck and trailer on the road, doth the truck and trailer must have a yearly safty check done on each peace, just to have a safty done on my F600 dump truck, the shop charges around $1500$ just for the safty. no parts or repairs, then plates for month is another $600 to give me a 1500kg GVW OR 33,000 lBS.
