While watching on cruise control, at 59:56, something magical happened. While on a test drive, our hero finds himself stranded in his broken-down domestic. A foreign vehicle arrives with a lady at the wheel. While the viewer is off-balanced by this complication, we get a brief glimpse of an alluring BMW inline-four engine, followed by a hazy scene of the couple recharging-extraordinary stuff. Fordman’s organic storytelling lets the plot unfold naturally. There’s no dialogue or music, just clean video, natural sounds, and editing with room to breathe. One of the best videos I seen. It reminds me of my grandpa working on his old machinery. You can clearly see the quality in manufacture of America in the 60s. Everything is metal everything is fixable.
My dad was selling Fords in Willmar in 1962 and he had that exact same car in Chestnut Brown for one summer as his "Demonstrator". We drove it to Canada for our only full family vacation, pulling a travel trailer (Shasta - don't know how all 9 of us fit into that, maybe we also brought a tent). I think it was legal in Canada back then to have passengers in a trailer, and I recall riding for a bit. I got a little carsick. We went to Thunder Bay, but back then it was called Fort William & Port Arthur. Later we moved to California and he bought a 63 in red with a 352 I & then traded that for a 65 with a 390 in turquoise, both were 4 door hardtops I think. The center of those 62 tail lights always looked like communion cups to me. Thanks for this video

@@ThunderballKaboom that’s because the dash is out of a 1963 model. I don’t know if anybody caught that. Man, I never log in to make comments, but this may be the best 1.5 hour movie I have ever watched! You keep it honest with your work, dripping fuel every where, brake fluid running down, using your phone for a light! I remember getting stuck on the side of the road when I was 16 and calling my father from some persons house because we had no cell phones or trying to fix it myself with tools from the trunk and keeping the date from getting bored while I do it. Keep on with your style!
Started my first ever restoration [1995 TVR Chimaera V8 Serpentine] and stumbled across your channel about a week ago. Absolutely love your stuff. It is so well made, interesting and gives me that burst of inspiration to go and get stuff done on the car. Awesome stuff man.
I’m also from MN, so this video has me flashing back to N. St. Paul/Maplewood early 80s. My dad and I working on cars, crappy weather, the sounds of the birds. Thanks for the great video!
I'm very excited for the next video. I'm having fun watching it There is neither much nor little talk here, but here you see endless challenges and hard work that only the mighty can do
This is a very professional video production, and I can see that your mechanical skills are top tier. Very nice work. It is also refreshing to see a young person work on the old classics. Kudos

Damn, this video was a wild ride. Having this few complications on a revival, all solved with somewhat easy fixes. The brakes taking fluid and giving preassure first try, the innards of the gastank being in ok condition and not clogging the carburator, the backfire that turned into flames, and last but not least my favourite: the compression-tester needing a couple of taps to work correctly, saving you alot of hassle. You hade me guessing at every turn thinking this car was gonna need ALOT more work. Great video, Fordman!
Wonderful video . brought back memories of helping my dad with the maintenance on a Galaxie 500, and then the Buick Electra 225 . these were new cars and he was so proud of them . those were great days.

A stuck valve in the closed position will do that. Sitting for years like this car has will do that. I had a 1970 Tbird do that. After that car, I pull valve covers and tap the valves to make sure they're free. Nice video.

Thanks so much for watching, glad I could spark some memories.
Started my first ever restoration [1995 TVR Chimaera V8 Serpentine] and stumbled across your channel about a week ago. Absolutely love your stuff. It is so well made, interesting and gives me that burst of inspiration to go and get stuff done on the car. Awesome stuff man.
The no talking is refreshing. Love the format, the car and that E28.
I'm also surprised the gas tank was ok since it probably hasn't been driven on the road in 6 or 7yrs from the license plate sticker.
@@dextermorgan4337 It has a newish-looking gas tank so I decided to just hope it was decent on the inside still
This one seemed frustrating for sure but I think I speak for all of us when I say we appreciate your persistence and patience. Keep doing what you do!
Amazing to watch a truly skillful and knowledgeable old-school mechanic. I am mezmerized.
I love Spain 🇪🇸 🙈🤍🤍🤍
Wonderful video . brought back memories of helping my dad with the maintenance on a Galaxie 500, and then the Buick Electra 225 . these were new cars and he was so proud of them . those were great days.
Man that is one cool car, and just looking at it didn't look like there was hardly any rust on it at all just mostly service for us, and I really enjoyed how you got that car going your expertise your knowledge of troubleshooting certain areas I've learned a lot from you and I appreciate your videos
That was an absolutely wonderful presentation. You should be a movie producer very well done and good job on the old Ford. Thank you.
First time watching a video of yours I loved the fact that there was no music gimmicks etc., just your gift of restoring old cars 🥰 I didn’t learn how to drive until I was 20 and of all places Seattle , WA., I am from Alaska lives on a small island so no need for a car then and after I learned how to drive my husband taught me how to change my oil change a flat tire and how to get unstuck from the snow 😀 my first car a 1964 Mustang , was I ever watched by the police in Everett 😂I always maintained speed limit but with a sport car I understand their weariness , thank you for video am a new sub now 🥰🇺🇸
Greetings from Germany - today its rainy and cloudy and your Video made my day turn good - Thank you so much
@@Karina_Sokolova_26почему это?
I really enjoyed watching this. I just saw the comment about there is no talking and no music and you know I liked that too. I loved watching you tinker with old cars.
A stuck valve in the closed position will do that. Sitting for years like this car has will do that. I had a 1970 Tbird do that. After that car, I pull valve covers and tap the valves to make sure they're free. Nice video.
I like cars and like you're editing style. That's what i noticed right off the bat. Very entertaining! Thank you.
Great cammera work, excellent video editing, no garbage commentary, just showing as it is. Being a city & guilds mechanic, (1969) appreciate his skills.
Would be treating myself to a sonic bath for the carbs. He has a new subscriber.
This channel needs 1 million subs before the end of this year
You and NNKH are my absolute favorite vehicle TH-camrs out there !
Same!
Definitely
Well done indeed 👍 There are very few people like this in the world. Who understand cars. Greetings from the city of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
This kid stays busy that's for sure with a new project every week
Just watched my first Simon fordman video. Watched the whole thing. I may have found my new favorite channel. No bs just mechanics, nice job.
Love the no music or babbling just straight to business, you had me locked in from go. Great editing , I was in my zen zone.
I like your channel, very interesting content. And it's QUIET, no loud music and constant chattering. And I love cats and old cars. Thank you.
Love how no matter how many times things break you just take it in your stride and fix it cool video
Hello from the UK
This brings back so many memories it makes my day.
Allowed to watch a natural mechanic at work is a rare pleasure.
Dan good to see you again as always! Lando looked so cute curled up and cozy... Definitely cold a icy. Really like that snow dog...Until next time stay warm!
I was drawn to this video because I'm a 62' also. You know your mechanics. Keep those old Fords running!
My first car was a 1964 Galaxie 500 4 door. 289 with 3 on the tree.
I was 16 and I loved that car.
All i can say is thank God nothing bad happened when the brake fluid dissapated ! Keep up the work my friend 😮
I appreciate the thumbnails for your vids. My first thought is always “no way he’s gonna get this piece of shit to start” and yet you always prove me wrong
And he does it quietly too
Excellent....great editing....no talking and no awful music.....well done. Can't wait to see part II
That sounds of the engine and the style brought me back to those days of luxury and power. Keep a good job.
Simon we love you!
Rad galaxy man. Thx for taking us along for the job. Great video.
This was a very satisfying video. Like the saying says this wasn't his first rodeo. Awesome! He's a throwback to when mechanics would rebuild parts instead of replacing them.
