‘Rohith Vermula Wasn't A Dalit': Telangana Police Closes File, Absolves Former V-C and BJP Leaders

In the high-profile case surrounding the untimely death of University of Hyderabad PhD student Rohith Vemula, the Telangana state police has filed a closure report, clearing several prominent figures including Minister Smriti Irani, MLC N Ramachander Rao, Vice Chancellor Appa Rao, leaders of the ABVP, and former Secunderabad MP Bandaru Dattatreya.
Rohith was not a member of the Scheduled Caste, according to the study that will be filed in the Telangana High Court. It also says that he killed out of fear of his ""real caste identity"" being discovered. Surprisingly, it makes the unsubstantiated claim that the family's caste credentials were faked. It's interesting to note that the report was released four months after Telangana's Congress administration took office.
