Students of Kolkata’s Jadavpur and Presidency on Modi vs Mamata | Another Election Show

- In this episode of Another Election Show, we caught up with students of Jadavpur University and Presidency University at Kolkata in West Bengal. The two leading universities are often in the news for the ideological or political activism of their students.
Newslaundry spoke to the students about politics in Bengal, the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, and the major poll planks. Most of the students pointed to corruption and the Sandeshkhali controversy under the Mamata Banerjee government as the big election issues. The cancellation of teacher jobs by the Calcutta High Court and unemployment were also major talking points.
The students criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “communal speeches” and the centre’s new education policy. A student said the BJP had come to power twice by “propagating hate”, while another claimed that the government “wants to weaken higher education and is insisting on students taking up vocational courses”.
The Congress manifesto and Modi’s allegations against it were also discussed. On the alleged “sexual abuse” controversy involving JDS leader Prajwal Revanna in Karnataka and Sandeshkhali in Bengal, a student asserted that “no right-wing party will be liberal towards women”.

This will establish a direct connection between what they think and speak with what they read.
And this will also prove that there is no self analysis in between, they take a readymade news and than speak it out as if it's a gospel truth.

I was a student of the Presidency College. On the first day of college, Poltu Dasgupta and his tribe burned down 4 buses and 6 trams because tram fare went up by 1 paisa. Next year our superintendent made it a rule that outsiders cannot enter the hostel. The Naxal students started a hunger strike against the Superintendent. The college was closed down. We had a new superintendent and at least 15 followers of Comrade Kaka used to live in the hostel. They are all outsiders and they had nothing to do with the Presidency College.
These students of Presidency College always have a tendency to commit suicide. This girl is the perfect example.
Jadavpur University should close down all social science and humanities departments. They create problems. They do not come to the University to study but to create trouble and to stay forever in the hostel. These students are very old. They are uncles of the students, like Comrade Kaka.

Agreed that getting an opportunity to study in Presi and JU is a privilege but if you're thinking about financial privilege then it's not very true. The course fees are generally very low so even if one is a poor student they can study there if they pass entrance exams and meet the criteria.
However, I do agree I'd love to see other district University interviews.

Overall good discussion. Covered all major issues of Bengal and India. There could be a difference of opinion but all were unanimous on communal politics of BJP and they all gave more priority on communal politics over corruption. Is BJP a communal party ? If so, then how Muslims were 40% beneficiary for all BJP's social policies such as Home, Free fashion and Ujjala yojana. In my view BJP is the only secular party who works for all community and caste without any biasness. At least statistics suggest that. Rest all like Mamta, Congress, Kejriwal openly bat for Muslims.
Weather one accepts or not, Muslim can never leave peacefully with any other religion, be it Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist or Christian. Check the history of Pakistan and Bangladesh. Where Muslim prosper in India but Minorities in Pakistan and Bangladesh are about to eradicate. In the middle east, Syria, Lebanon which were once Christian were majority but now they are leaving these country. Even in Europe, see how terrorism, riots and child molestation are major issue in entire europe, be it France, German, Denmark.
Bottomline is, Islam cannot co-exist peacefully with any other religion because of their philosophy.
Hindus/Christan/Buddist/Sikhs, all are open minded while the Muslim is 'kattar'. That's why they can't live together in peace.
Root cause of India's problem is growing population and everyone know's which community is contributing this problem. Now if someone talks about that then they will be targeted as communal.
No matter how much educated a Muslim is, they will still be orthodox and cannot mix openly with society. They love to stay in Ghetto.
India's democracy will alive till Hindus are in majority. The moment Muslim's surpass Hindu population, it will not be a democratic nation.
So to save Hindus from Muslim aggression, to keep our nation growth ( which is currently growing at a healthy pace) we need corruption free, visionary govt and for that matter we need BJP in center. In last 10 years India has improved a lot in its infrastructures, Roads, Ports, Airport, Colleges. Many miles to go and India is on right track.
