    Why ‘the religious hippie?’
    It was a nickname my friends gave me when I was in highschool because I dressed like a hippie and was a ‘wild child’, when I came back into my faith they thought ‘the religious hippie’ was now a more appropriate nickname and it stuck!

    I (Protestant) started dating my Catholic boyfriend last year. I was always pro life and against contraception and we had a lot of similar world views. God ended up speaking to me through this and now I’m on the journey to join the church! My parents are not on board but it’s been such a peaceful experience and I can’t wait to be Catholic!

      What does the expression “the day goes before the month” mean?

    • @ehe697
      @ehe697 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      when stating a date you can say day, month, year, like 25/09/2023, 25th September 2023, or month, day year, like 09/25/2023, 25th September 2023. Basically its two ways of expressing a date. In the US they use the second usually, while the rest of the world commonly uses the first way.

    Yesterday my family and I celebrated my sister getting engaged! She was proposed to at a newly-built church in Omaha that's getting consecrated next week and they are hoping to get married in that same church next year. They met through their Newman center at college, so their relationship was faith-based from the beginning. Such a beautiful moment, that proposal. This vid was so great, always love seeing Max. Also- love the mugs and rosaries, but really wishing you had a merch hoodie!! I'd 100% buy a religious hippie hoodie right now. Best Catholic channel ever!

    Great advice that I don’t think enough people think about when going into a relationship. Also I think Max’s warning about the “checklist” is not to be overlooked. Two married Catholics will have a lifetime to get thru, early in my marriage child loss caused me to fall away from the church for a while and I technically no longer checked those precious boxes off any more. My husband’s true love was there for me the whole time. I wish someone would have given me the length of dating advice you did, that is spot on. ❤

    Absolutely, the day goes before the month. First time I've seen your channel.
    I am 47 and struggling with dating. I have a stable job, a nice truck, and am mildly attractive. But, when I made the decision to look for a woman of faith. That's where the struggle comes in. It's like being a faithful, loving Christian is just not cool to most people. I will never again allow my faith to be 2nd in my life. Relationships between people can come and go. However, Christ is always with us.

      Regarding if men should just ask girls out or be friends first, I think it’s important to say that not being clear with your intentions can unnecessarily complicate things. Obviously it all depends on how people communicate with each other, but most people don’t do it perfectly, so if a guy is interested in a woman, but just asks if they get together just as friends, it seems to communicate that friendship is the only thing on the table. Ideally, you can get to know someone better in a group setting, then make the move for a solo date (not in front of everyone, of course lol). Overall, it’s kind of circumstantial (I say that both as an opinion as well as personal experience)

  • @ecclesiaxxi6210
    @ecclesiaxxi6210 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Agree with what you said as a general rule/in principle for when different denominations are dating (as long as Christian). My fiance is a fundamentalist Evangelical (not from a mega church or anything, we're Europeans & nationalists, not American) and we've never had any problems, he's a confessor and the best Christian I've met who follows God. We pray together, read the Bible together, have been through a lot. I used to think the Bible's were different (as that's what I had heard/been told), until we read together, and there were almost no issues. We learn so much and love God.
    I joined a Catholic dating site when I was trying "dating" as I thought if I was going to search then it should be a close as possible for the same reasons you stated, in my specific case God blessed me in a way I didn't expect/plan, we're created for each other and true love exists, we will go to church together and have discussed everything. He's defending all Christianity, including Catholicism (better than I've seen from some Catholics), so you're correct that he doesn't "tolerate" it, he supports it, as I do him, before we met he had read the catechism to learn more and mentioned it early on and his comments were "it was well written and Biblical".
    In general of course it's best to stick as close as possible, our situation is unique, we're perfect for each other and it is in line with God's will [because of that we agree on everything important, have the same worldview, and talk about everything, so there are zero issues and will be no issues, not from us/within, we care about renewing Christendom]... for most people where true love isn't present, which is the vast majority of the population, where a nice love can grow overtime and you can still live happily, and it's more about finding "a" person rather than "the" person, then of course go for the closest thing possible in everything (we're on the same page on almost everything, but like I said our situation is unique, everyone is different, so better to reduce potential conflicts). I agree with what you said, the man has to be knowledgeable and the leader. In our case, he is the head and spiritual leader, and has answers to my questions, and I talk to him about good sermons I've heard that I know we'd both like, interesting things from my missal (I attend TLM), and he is happy, in the same way he introduces interesting Christian things for me to listen to, has answers to my questions about so many topics and the defence of Christianity (his IQ is >170 (mine is 140), he's very intelligent, decisive, masculine and faithful, I can relax/trust) including the Church. Like I said we talk about everything. For me, I'm happy true love exists and God has blessed me with it in this life on earth. I agree about prayer/discernment, God will make it clear, He did for us.
    Good luck to you both, blessings :)
    Edit: agreed relationship comes before others, e.g. I also learned that in general men and women can't be "just friends", I thought I had friends, but they were hoping for something more, which eventually became clear due to trying to sabotage and make romantic attempts (btw, I've always been devout catholic, am a virgin, so when I say romantic attempts, I mean in a courting manner). My fiance had the same thing in the principle of women around him wanted something more (in his cases they weren't honourable to put it mildly). So in our case, we just don't have friends of the opposite sex. Honestly before boomers this was normal, if you had friends of opposite sex they were mutual ones from your spouse, that's how it was in our grandparents time.
    Also perhaps I haven't had enough experiences, but I don't have any issues with rad trads... I don't think anyone needs to run from anything, it's good if they're taking their faith seriously (I don't think they think women aren't people are that's not Christian, so perhaps it's just some online troll accounts you guys might be thinking about).

    Hi Amber and Max! I have a question for you. I am a highschool sophomore. I am homeschooled and have really liked this guy in my homeschool group for more than a year. Idk how he feels about me but we have a lot in common and I get along with him. How do I cultivate a friendship with him so that (if we are compatible) we could date later in life? I don't want to seem like I'm initiating a romantic relationship (I think that's the guy's responsibility) I just want to make friends with him. Also he's confident but pretty introverted and idk if I'm talking too much or too little when we have conversations.

    • @jesugarcia7347
      @jesugarcia7347 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hiiii olivia maybe I’m not answering your question but Here is a poem, and I hope it strikes you as much as it did me~
      "Be Satisfied with Me" by St. Anthony of Padua:
      "Everyone longs to give themselves completely to someone,
      To have a deep soul relationship with another, To be loved thoroughly and exclusively.
      But to a Christian, God says, "No, not until you are satisfied,
      Fulfilled and content with being loved by Me alone, With giving yourself totally and unreservedly to Me, With having an intensely personal and unique relationship with Me alone.
      Discovering that only in Me is your satisfaction to be found,
      Will you be capable of the perfect human relationship
      That I have planned for you.
      You will never be united to another
      Until you are united with Me.
      Exclusive of anyone or anything else.
      Exclusive of any other desires or longings.
      I want you to stop planning, to stop wishing, and allow Me to give you
      The most thrilling plan existing . .. one you cannot imagine.
      Blessings for your and your family May Christ love surrounds you

      Speaking as a guy, if he’s taking the time to continually talk with you then he’s probably interested. Me personally, I only have lengthy conversations with women whom I find attractive.
      On the other hand, if he’s introverted, then him talking to you might be a sign that he’s not interested in you. As an introvert myself, I find myself not often approaching women who I find attractive. I usually wait for them to initiate conversation with me, and once they do, it’s super easy for me to talk to them. (This route has left me single for quite some time though) There were times when I did approach but, it took me having to work up some serious courage. But, as an introvert, I have no issue at all conversing with women who I don’t find attractive, so maybe he doesn’t find you attractive if it’s easy for him to talk with you.
      My advice is to try and initiate a bit of romance, test the waters (cause if he’s introverted he probably won’t test them). I know you said you feel like it’s the guy’s job to do that but, if you want him to initiate something, then you have to give him some material. Think of it this way. You have to make yourself as much of a pile of dead leaves, sticks, and moss as possible but, still leave it up to him to start the actual friction to cause the fire.

    Beautiful couple! Thanks for dishing out the great advise!
    17:22 I respectfully disagree with that time frame. I think you know if you want to marry someone by the 6 month mark. If you don’t know by then it’s most likely a no and you are just wasting each others time.
    This isn’t to say you should be engaged by then but engagement should be in the horizon.

    I converted to Catholicism recently and was accepted into the Church on Easter Vigil! God chastised me before I converted. I was saved by the Grace of God and I kept my virginity in tact 😊. I'm 23 currently, I'm asking others' opinions. What are the chances I could find a virgin near my age, in this modernistic culture/age?

    • @MarianMetanoia
      @MarianMetanoia 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Late to the party, but here we are! ☺️ You can find someone. I met my husband at 23, married him at 26, and gave him my virginity on our honeymoon. He wasn’t a virgin, but I was willing to accept his past. I don’t blame him for the person he was before he met me and came to know God (he wasn’t raised with religion). He’s in RCIA now (we’ve been trying to get him in a program for years, but things were complicated by COVID), and he wants to be a deacon when he’s old enough. He’s truly the man of faith I had asked God to send me. I say all this to dispel the notion that a repentant non-virgin and a virgin are always unequally yoked. Some of our greatest saints had very sinful pasts before being utterly transformed by God’s grace. St. Augustine comes to mind, as does Servant of God Dorothy Day.
      If you want to find a faithful Catholic wife, you need to become a faithful Catholic man. Frequent the sacraments, pray fervently and frequently, become involved in your parish, and maybe join a Catholic dating site.
      Best of luck to you and God bless!

    I have a family member that got into a relationship with a guy that is non believing not sure about the specifics never asked She is catholic(roman) and they are married and it's going great it's already been 6 years and they have a kid. I do not discourage such relationships although I know that it really depend on a couple and an individual as to what works.

    My personal belief is posting on social media is a privacy concern. Additionally, it can impact future or present job opportunities if your partner (let us say, at a bar) takes your picture at a bar when you have not had a drink. Moreover, it's potentially dangerous as people can track your location based on social media posts. Some people enjoy their privacy to a greater degree than others. :)

    Believe me, it doesn't matter how physically attractive a girl is, after a few years looks fade and normalcy sets in. A good marriage can never be based on looks. I really feel this is why so many marriage fail; people think getting used to someone's looks means you've fallen out of love. In reality, a good marriage is like a garden, you have to work on it daily but it's so worthwhile and much deeper in meaning over the years. If high school dating taught me anything it's that a bad attitude can make the prettiest girl your dating unattractive. I put a lot of value in how a woman cares for herself, grooms, personal hygiene etc. but just being a pretty girl means very little to me as a 23 year old guy now, especially as someone who's become devout in my Catholicism and not looking flings

    The two of you are delightful together. This tandem video format is definitely something you should pursue. Just be careful with the “man leading” concept, in that an important part of a successful “two become one” experience is understanding when you do not have the skillset for a given aspect of family life. For instance, if financial matters were left solely up to me as the biblically de facto leader? Hooooooo, boy! My wife has an accounting degree and worked as an auditor. I took “Math for Liberal Arts Majors” as a Communications undergrad and live my professional life in the world of words. I do NOT play with the money. If the man-of-the-house in our house were to sit down and do the monthly books (like the guys in old black-and-white sitcoms), we’d be in sorry shape. 🙂

    Amazing video guys love the chemistry you have and the shared faith of the Lord, but there was a part of the video that you said that you could go to confession together, it is actually not allowed by the Church to go with another person to confession it should be you and the priest ONLY and going with someone else violates that.
