    I just wanted to jump on here and say that there are ways men can dress immodest. I use to live in the Los Angeles area and was a catechist for 3 years. I had many high school boys who would sag there pants showing their underwear, wear white tank top “wife beaters” as they called them or gang affiliated colors. I would consider that immodesty for men. Unfortunately I would see men dressed in that manner at church which influenced some of our kids. But anyways I just wanted to say that since I’ve seen it before.

    Men should most definitely keep their shirts on! When Adam and Eve realized they were not clothed they covered themselves in fig leaves but that was not enough, God gave them animal skins for more coverage.

    So I have a question, my boyfriend and I have spoken about this and have tried establishing boundaries, however recently it’s been breaking a lot and I’m not sure what to do. He seems very apologetic when he knows I’m hurt about the situation and reminds me that it’s a struggle because of his past. So does this mean I should end things with him?

    Men taking their shirts off paved the way for the #freethenipple campaign and absolutely impacted women's modesty. So men who say women should dress modestly also need to be dressing modestly including wearing shirts at the pool or beach. It's not very convincing to hear dress modestly from hippocrites that are running around shirtless

    I love the veils - I also love the fact that they are so pretty that they actually look prettier than wearing your hair on its own! I always thought this about veiling - my mum did her hair up with a Spanish comb and a black mantilla- she looked stunning!

    Modest Catholic women have a beauty that is beyond physical beauty! Thank you so much for being a modest woman. As a guy I'm sick that almost every time I attend Holy Mass I see miniskirts, cleavages, yoga pants... and I got distracted, yup it's my fault I got distracted... but women really are not helping me much in keeping me focused at Holy Mass.

      Christian women really need to start thinking about and loving others . It’s important not to cause our brothers to stumble. I am so sorry this is happening but some women are insecure or desire men’s attention without even having revelation of this. If you see a sister dressing immodest, I encourage you to pray for her because I can tell you there was a time I did this and came to a place of repentance ❤

    Today I veiled for the first time and it was, unexpectedly, in the norvus ordu mass. I was scared someone might tell me to not do that, or to get nasty looks. That’s why I planned on doing it at the Tridentine mass, but I just went. I’m overwhelmed by the positive reactions. I just wanted to hide in there are focus on God, which I did, which was like I thought it would be, btw. I cried all through mass almost. But when I did look at people, they looked like they were seeing something so special, and I don’t even know if I can deal with that. Hopefully they’ll get used to it and will stop. It makes me embarrassed and I don’t want that, although I appreciate it so much. Can anyone relate? I’m now not sure I can be sturdy enough to not only have such an intense experience with god during mass, but then the looks and smiles… a lady blessed me, held my face and said a bunch of things - I didn’t even know her… idk if I can handle it.

    Making out is a sin, not an occasion of sin. All carnal pleasure outside of marriage is a mortal sin. Pecks on the cheek are fine. The kind of kiss you'd give to great grandma or great grandpa.

    If you’re going to be wearing a veil at someone else’s wedding I’d suggest getting one of those small circular ones for the top of a head, AVOID wearing your long ones, especially if white. I feel like the whole point of veiling is modesty, so don’t take attention away from the bride

  • @jeffthomas9768
    @jeffthomas9768 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    In response For men wearing shirts at the beach/pool, as a young man, i can somewhat agree with you Amber i kinda thought the same way. i thought, “If women should be covered when swimming why not men too?” I used to wear a shirt all the time (mostly since middle school) and my reason was to help stop sunburns and i was taking strong acne meds so i definitely wanted to protect my skin. Since then, i think I’ve gained a self conscious look for myself, noticing that i had a “farmers tan” and wanted my skin to look uniform. Plus, i didn’t like that my shirt stuck to my skin when i got out. (Taking off a wet shirt is very exhausting.)
    Lately, I’ve grown indifferent about it but i definitely agree that both men and women should set the example for the other. I guess that’s another sacrifice men need to put up with for women.
    God bless!

    I wish the Catholic church would have a rule that if you're a single female and thinking of marriage, you wear a white veil, but if not, or you're just not interested, you wear black or grey or something that doesn't stand out too much and isn't white.

    • @gray_mara
      @gray_mara 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I'm very glad such a rule does not exist. I find the thought abhorrent that someone would assess my worth based on whether I was available as opposed to taking time to get to know me as a person, regardless of what they might one day get out of me. A single man who won't talk to a woman unless she has made it publicly known that she is looking for a date is not a man who will make a good husband.

    For me modesty is about self respect. Men can dress modestly by wearing clean clothes that fit properly and show dignity and represent good character. Incl. not wearing excessively expensive clothing

    • @KamilR7
      @KamilR7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with excessively expensive but in general I think it’s better for men to buy less clothes but of better quality which oftentimes means that you have to spend more, however, the upside is that they will last for years if taken care off properly. Of course I’m not saying you have to walk around in 2 pairs of t-shirts 😂 but a good rule to follow is: “less is more”.

I wanted to marry a pure women, not a woman that has shown a lot to the world. On a bit of a side note, I'm from Europe and at the Vatican, before you enter, there are guards who ask you politely to cover up if you're dressed way too immodestly (I'm being serious, there are women who try to walk into St. Peter's wearing basically a bikini and men who are in nothing but shorts), they offer coverings for free to both women and men, so we guys have to be conscious of this also, and we need more guys speaking about it to each other. We are not Moslems, which was made by a man for males and actually oppresses women - we are CHRISTIANS, and we are all EQUAL - male and female - just with different social roles. Men look at women lustfully but women also do the same, we should be conscious of this.

    Fashion is related to display vanity which is the sexualization of the self. Modesty is a display of humility which is by far more alluring and evokes a mystique to the self. Virginity is not shameful but a great honour to Christ. Abstinence to drugs and alcohol is noble and means that our Lord is in keeping with a true worth. The sanctity of a union is special and devine moment. The most beautiful attributes to God are light and water which possess no sexuality or degradement. To honour purity is a grand compliment to Christ and his action. Take care brothers and sisters.

    Making out can be wrong because it entices further sexual activities, nevertheless I get the notion that many Catholics act like they should avoid sexual temptation at all costs. This is not chastity. Sexual desire is natural it only becomes lust when it’s fed inappropriately. When couple kiss, hug or cuddle sexual arousal can happen. This is normal, God created us this way. I think it’s important to be able to control that and use our physicality with respect towards our partner instead of suppressing it. This is especially crucial when it comes to using NFP because there are periods when married couple has to abstain from marital act, nonetheless that doesn’t mean they’re not married anymore and shouldn’t express their love by psychical means. Body is just as good as soul, this belief is what separates us from gnostics. I advise anyone seeking romantic relationship or someone who is in one, to get familiar with Saint’s John Paul II Theology of the Body.
    EDIT: That said, there are circumstances when one’s control and will is limited, then we are to remain prudent (e.g. if man is struggling with sexual thoughts throughout the day it’s probably best to not spend evening all alone with his girlfriend). We should always try to lean on The Holy Spirit (and our God given intellect) when discerning this matters

    About the crucial question on "how to remain pure nowadays": And literally insist with the Bless Virgin Mary that pray for us (even at adoration) because 1 prayer of Her for us is worth more than a gazillion prayers of us, and she makes us more welcomed in front of Her Son in the Blessed Sacrament during adoration. Special tip! Especially for those who are still battling with conversion (or pre-conversion, like thinking about but not really converted yet): ask 'the desire of the desire'. If one already has the constant firm resolution of living in the observance of the 10 commandments at any cost, with no exception ever, not even in the next 100 years, they already have the strong desire of being pure (because that's part of observing the commandments). Therefore, in their prayers and requests, they'll ask other things (such as to INCREASE virtues, faith, charity, hope, purity, etc.). But if one is still battled by the 'decision' itself, if one still has a weak desire of maintaining oneself chaste and pure always with no exceptions, then his or her prayers/requests will be weak. They won't be very 'convinced' yet about the decision. So, things like this can happen: when praying (either mentally or verbally), the WORDS say things like "make me pure" etc. But the inner desires still, deep down, opt toward committing sins. Basically, they lack the firm resolution and desire (in this topic: for purity). Therefore, ask the DESIRE OF THAT DESIRE. The desire of the holy desires. Yes, our Lord and Our Lady know that their request will be weak, not even convinced in some cases. But that's why they're asking the desire of the desire: because that's exactly the medicine they need at that point. God knows that and appreciates their sincere effort and visits their souls with the graces, little by little, that will drive them toward the true and strong desires. The devil will tempt them to think things like: "see? nothing's happening, nothing's changing, your request is useless" and things like that. That's exactly a deception! It's a trap! Keep asking that, every day, more times/day, adding the intercession of the Blessed Virgin, Saint Joseph the most pure (super important, right after Our Lady!!!!) and of the entire Heaven and Purgatory: they'll see the change happening in their soul. Only, God is forced to make it happen VERY SLOWLY, because if it'd happen quickly, we'd be eaten up by pride. We'd dangerously fall from impurity to pride, deeply, almost subconsciously, building up a sick self-esteem that takes the place of God's grace and of our due gratitude toward God. "[4] Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abide in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in me. [5] I am the vine: you the branches: he that abideth in me, and I in him, the same beareth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing.
    [6] If any one abide not in me, he shall be cast forth as a branch, and shall wither, and they shall gather him up, and cast him into the fire, and he burneth. [7] If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask whatever you will, and it shall be done unto you. [8]" (St. John 15, 4-8)
    Ah, also, very very important!!! Meditation of the eternal truths is of paramount importance. Even prayer, which is the most important thing, if alone, many times is not sufficient. We need to 'soak' the 3 powers of the soul (intellect, willpower, and memory) with the love and appreciation for the ADVANTAGES of virtues and holiness and the awareness and disdain of the DISADVANTAGES of sins and vices. Even a few lines of holy books, but REGULARLY, daily possibly. Even just 5 minutes. It literally soaks your soul and shows you nuances and facets that one couldn't even imagine. It guides, motivates. The meditation of those texts will accompany, reinforce, enlighten, motivate, and fuel the intellect. The REGULARITY and frequency of the meditation will do that with your memory. So your memory will always be aware and will constantly remind your intellect about those things and feelings. Your intellect, constantly reminded by memory, will help your willpower, and you will be fighting your battle against the devil, the world, and the flesh with 2 arms (intellect and willpower) instead of willpower alone, plus the fuel of memory. Very important. Supernaturally excellent texts such as "trustful surrender to divine providence" (St. Claude), "uniformity to God's will" (St. Alphonsus), "Introduction to the devout life" (St. Francis from Sales), "Practice of loving Jesus Christ" (St. Alphonsus), "Spiritual combat" (Scupoli, regarded very highly by St. Alphonsus and strongly recommended by him), "Preparation to death" (St. Alphonsus) are some fantastic examples of books that are free and available online for download (but I strongly recommend to buy them printed, and they're very affordable usually, the older the edition/translation, the better). "My Daily Bread" by Paone is also absolutely amazing and effective and rich and full! Not sure if it exists for free download somewhere.
    God bless you all my friends!!!
    Thank you so much for this video and all you do, Religious Hippie (I don't know your name, sorry)

    Can you different colors of veil? Also can I wear a veil outside of church and just wear it regularly? I find it so pretty and I love wearing hats anyways so I was wondering if it was wrong to wear it all the time?

    If we follow those who subscribe to the doctrine of women wearing veils, then it can be argued that the most often cited verse is 1st Corinth. 11:5, which states:
    “But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.”
    According to many of those who believe women ought to wear veils this verse supposedly implies that a woman’s uncovered head is a woman who does not wear a veil. Such a woman is either dishonoring God, their own physical head or her husband for failing to wear it which implies that they are in disobedience. Some have gone so far as to say it is a sin. Another assumption is that the woman being referred to already has long hair and since they conclude that the covering is a veil then it must be referring to an “additional” covering otherwise it would clash with verse 15 stating that God gave women long hair for a covering. Another conclusion is that women ought to be covered ONLY when praying and prophesying which would make it seem as though it were something that can be placed on or taken off like a veil. You’ve probably noticed by now it takes several assumptions to reach the conclusion that women ought to wear a foreign object on their heads, despite the lack of evidence.
    * Does the Bible really give a clear command that women should wear a veil?
    The first thing that everyone must understand when talking about this topic is that it DOES NOT say the word “veil “or any other physical headwear, as far as the KJV is concerned. It surely mentions that the woman’s head should be covered, and no one disputes this, but it does not say that it should be covered with a veil, a shawl, a bonnet, a cap, or any other specific headwear. The verses in question within 1st Corinthians 11 mention the words, cover, covered, uncovered, and covering, but that does not mean we can translate this to mean specifically a veil, a shawl, a bonnet, a cap, or anything else similar. In fact, it would seem more like an adverb rather than a noun. Nevertheless, the word “cover” is often unfortunately interpreted by head covering promoters to mean a veil above all other types of headwear, even if there is no evidence to prove that beyond a shadow of a doubt. To do so would mean that one is trying to read more into the verse than what is actually stated and is not truly seeking an exegesis of the Scriptures.
    Some have claimed that they are referring to a physical synthetic head covering because the Scriptures seem to indicate that there are two exclusive conditions in order to wear one and that is when a woman is either praying and/or prophesying. But does this interpretation stand up to logic?
    If we were to believe that under certain conditions a woman ought to wear a physical head covering, then it stands to reason that under OTHER conditions a woman should be able NOT to wear one. For example, if you are going to argue that a woman ought to wear a veil because the Bible claims there are two conditions, then it is logical to presume that any other condition would ALLOW them to be without one, like speaking in tongues, interpreting tongues, healing the sick, casting out devils, etc.
    Now if a head covering promoter should claim that there are MORE conditions, then they admit that there aren’t really “two” conditions thereby nullifying the two-condition argument.
    The reasoning behind why the “two-condition” argument is important for veil promoters is because if these words were actual conditions, then it would seem as though the covering were something that can be placed on or taken off. So even though it does not literally or EXPLICITLY say anything about putting on or taking off a veil. Veil promotors form this belief based on what they believe to be IMPLIED and not by a direct statement. Many people like to believe this because they ASSUME that praying and prophesying are two conditions instead of seeing them as mere examples.
    * Praying and prophesying were meant to be viewed as examples, not conditions…
    Now I can understand how someone can mistakenly conclude praying and prophesying as conditions in verse 5, on the surface, but once you read the rest of the verses in context one cannot reach that conclusion. For example, if the strongest argument is because there were conditions for women to wear veils because of verse 5 then why don’t we hear the same thing spoken of about men in verse 4?
    “Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.”
    Normally we do not hear the argument that men ought not to have their heads covered exclusively under two conditions as we hear for women as to why they should. I think it is because that would imply that they CAN have their heads covered under other circumstances like the examples I mentioned before as in speaking in tongues, interpreting tongues, healing the sick, casting out devils, etc. But I suspect a veil promoter would not go along with this. Then there is verse 7:
    “For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.”
    So, there seems to be ANOTHER reason for men not to cover. Therefore, if the reason for men not to cover their heads in this verse is because he is the “image and glory of God,” then why even mention praying or prophesying in verse 4? Should a man not be covered under ANY condition since verse 7 overrides any supposed conditions? Shouldn’t that make you question that perhaps Paul was just giving a couple of examples? Verses 4 and 5 are basically the same except for whom they are directed yet when one hears the arguments by veil promoters it is typically about how verse 5 is conditional for women yet for men in verse 4 it is usually not spoken of. Again, isn’t it more likely that Paul was using the words praying and prophesying as examples in both verses?
    We can also get a sense that Paul was referring to praying and prophesying as examples if we read verse 13 when it only mentions the word praying and NOT prophesying.
    “Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?”
    If there were only two exclusive conditions, then why would he leave out prophesying? We can’t say he got tired in his writing as he mentioned both words in verses 4 and 5. So, what can we say about this? Just that Paul was giving us a couple of examples of how doing something HOLY or GODLY does not give a pleasant appearance if the woman is uncovered, meaning not covered in long hair and the same goes for men when their heads are covered in long hair since that is exactly one is supposed to understand when reading verse 14.

    I have a couple questions:
    1. What are some ways of overcoming with spiritual warfare/flesh
    2. How can I be a better catholic because I have a hard time with it especially in the environment I am in.
    3. Should kids be dating at a young age?
    4. Is there a way to help keeping up with praying.
    5. What is the male version of veiling (if it's real)
    6. I'd like to start a catholic TH-cam channel but I don't know where to start
    -Sorry if it's to much, Please let me know and answer as much as possible! You are truly doing an amazing job! God bless you 🙏🏻

    Sigh... I stumbled across your page by shear accident while doing some research on 3rd Order Carmelites and I so wish it were possible to clone you and trade in my 4 daughters for these clones. Their mother is a liberal Catholic and a feminist so getting my daughters to understand the very beauty of what you embrace has been a pointless endeavor. I am definitely going to try and get them to watch your videos. Thank you.
