  • Back to back testing the Z1000sx and Yamaha Tracer 900GT with a pillion. A mix of twisty roads, A roads and motorways with feedback from the passenger too. This is the second test of the Tracer with a pillion as I hadn't increased the preload the first time. Thanks to John Hobbs and Jonathan Prior for mentioning it in the comments on my first video. Maximum load capacity for each bike as taken from my owners manuals, Z1000sx - 195kg/429lbs, Tracer 900 GT - 179kg/395lbs.

    Great video and I love that Sarah also shares her opinions. I love riding with my Daughter as a pillion and it makes such a difference to what bikes work and which don't!

    I cannot thank you enough for this video...when your daughter said her legs were "flying up" or lifting forward I knew exactly was I was going to do with my Tracer 900. I will move the pillion footpegs down and back about 30 mm both ways. This will get me the benefit of having my own feet in the proper position, and it will probably give the pillion rider the feeling of a more secure ride. Again, thank you so much for giving me the pillion riders perspective. Good job and I will subscribe of course!!

    Very informative test, thanks. I'm on the verge of buying a Tracer 900 to replace my Vulcan S cruiser. It looks it'll tick all the boxes I need it to tick. Except the seat height of the thing! 29" legs and 33" seats don't mix too well. I think I could manage but I reckon I'll get the dealer to lower it by 15mm for peace of mind. Subscribed

    I have a 2018 Tracer and have no complaints two up with luggage. If you keep the kawasaki to stop your daughter sliding around on the seat you could put a "triboseat" on it for around £15 off ebay, it works.

    I think that you also need to take into account carrying capacity of the 2 bikes. The Tracer with a pillion doesn't have a lot of luggage capacity left if you go by Yamaha's published figures. The Kawasaki has much more.

    How it compares your 2014 sx with the new ninja 1000? And what do you prefer, a 2014 sx or a first version of tracer (mt09)

    • @geetee5509
      @geetee5509  ปีที่แล้ว

      I prefer my Tracer GT over the MT09 purely because it's more practical with 200 miles tank range, luggage capacity and rider/passenger comfort. The MT09 I had felt much more Pokey and aggressive power wise. Same power on both bikes but the MT09 is around 30k lighter so feels faster. I also sold my 2014 Z1000sx and kept the Tracer GT. The Z1000sx had a very strong engine and fantastic looks but I prefer the comfort and extra toys on my Tracer GT such as quickshifter, cruise control, TFT screen and riding position. As for the Ninja 1000sx Vs my Tracer GT it would be a much closer contest since the ninja has a better quickshifter, TFT screen and the engine felt smoother and faster compared to the 2014 Z1000sx. Between the Ninja and the Tracer GT there's a more powerful engine in the Ninja, it looks beautiful, has a better quickshifter....but the Tracer still has a more comfortable leg position, better visibility due to the position and a longer tank range. Between first version of a Yamaha Tracer (not the GT) model and the Z1000sx I think I would choose the Z1009sx. The new Ninja is way better though in my opinion and would be a very difficult choice between that and my Tracer GT

    • @geetee5509
      @geetee5509  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Beverley, I chose to keep my Tracer over the Z1000sx as there are more rider aids on my Tracer 900gt. I enjoy the quickshifter, heated grips, TFT screen etc. My 2014 Z1000sx didn't have these and I would have missed them but the engine on the Z1000sx was awesome and I also thought the Kawasaki looked better too. If the choice was between a 2020 Ninja 1000sx and my Tracer then the outcome may have been different.

    Great video but its difficult to choose. The Kawazaki looks nicer and more a sporty bike but the big downside is that you cant have both a top box and sidecases you have to choose. I think the chassi is not stiff enough even on the latest 2020 model its the same issue (dont know for 2021) but this is a big downside on that bike. Maybe you have to go up to the Versus then but then its not so sporty and much more pricy. Between theese bikes i would go for the Tracer then you can have both a top box and sidecases. But then you have problem with the total loadcapacity/weight. The chassi is not stable enough but on the new model for 2021 its much bettet i think about 193 kg but to me its not enough but much better. The newest Tracer 900 GT is nice from the front but the two screens/dashes are so ugly. Not sure yet what to pick. Its hard in general to find good rewiews when they show the total loadcapacity when the manufactures mostly wont give us that information. For me thats a must if i buy their bike. BMW show that in their spec but their bikes are to pricy. Would like to try the Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro but havent got that loadcapity on that bike. Its hard to find spourttourer that can handle some weight and are not overexpensive. In one corner you have the more offroadbikes and on the other you have the fastest track bikes. But in the middle, sporty, good windscreen, comfy, uppright driving position not to expensive its hard to find. Only all these naked bikes all over the place. Got one myself and want to leave that market. Thanks for a great video, take care😃

      @@MrJulianbowden 😄 maybe but if you think about it, if its 2 person grown up who whants to do some touring a couple of days maybe a week then its not easy. Its not much weight left then for packing. Some motorcycles handles that well like the BMW GS but its pricy and not good loking/sporty. So if the manufactures cant provide that it might be a Range Rover but not so funny

      I would not bother with Kawasaki. I had a 2017 performance model for three years from new, and although this bike looks amazing and sounds amazing, I can't say it was a good bike.
      Let's start with riding. Any trips longer than 30 miles were a pain in the back for my legs, especially my knees. I'm 188cm tall. I'm not short, but it supposed to be a touring bike. For me, it isn't.
      After not even two years, cables rusted, and the turn signal and horn stopped working.
      A constant problem with error on the dashboard. I can't remember what part Kawasaki replaced, but thanks God, I had insurance because it costed a fortune.
      The instrument display started to fog !!! Not even three years old bike !!!
      Few other small problems like paint that come off in some places.
      I have NEVER ridden this bike in the rain. Kept always under super expensive cover on my driveway. The bike was thoroughly clean by me and treated with ACF 50 every three months. All service done at Kawasaki.
      I was so happy to sell it to Kawasaki after three years.
      Naked bikes look good but that's all. BMW is too expensive to buy and maintenance. Reliability? Mixed opinions. This year probably May/June I'm buying Tracer 9 or Suzuki Vstrom 1050.

      @@chrisw4215 thanks for your opinion. Maybe i will also try the new Tracer 9 but i am not sure about the loading capacity. Its better than before but is it enough for 2 adults for a longer tour, not sure. Then dash or should i say two looks strange/uggly. But its a well priced bike. Have to try and compare that bike to the Triumph 900 GT Pro ( not the Rally version) and maybe Ducati 950s its the best looking bike if you want a nice looking adventure bike but who knows havent ride anyone of thoose yet. Future will tell😃
