    I've bought my Tracer 700 in 2018 for 8000€ and could choose from accessories for the bike for 700 Euros because of a special Yamaha offer back then. Rode it for over 30.000km since then. Last week I did about 1000km in two days. Fun bike for sure. One huge advantage is you can do all the service yourself. It's a real simple bike to work on. Sometimes I wish it had more power though and USD forks. I upgraded mine with steel brake lines, Wilbers rear shock and Öhlins Cartridge kit for the forks. Best money ever spent. Save the money on the exhaust and upgrade the suspension.

    At 5'3" this is my first Big Bike. Absolutely nothing to compare it to, but love it! My learner bike was an XSR125, so natural progression! Absolutely right about nimbleness, and the lightness makes it a joy. I've not been on other bikes, so can't compare, but I find it okay at higher speeds and plenty of acceleration. Very reliable, too, and comfortable riding position.

      @DanDamV 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Man, how long did you ride the XSR for? I'm thinking about getting one as a first bike, but I'm afraid I will outgrow it too soon. Please let me know your thoughts. Would you have gone for a bigger CC bike?

    • @jhammond64
      @jhammond64 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@DanDamV I rode it for about 8 months. If you have a full license I would skip the 125cc altogether as a first bike. Is that what you mean? The XSR is a great 125, but it's still a 125! I certainly wouldn't buy a new 125. You probably will outgrow it quickly. 125's seem expensive to insure,too because they get nicked . I remember having a sore shoulder from constant full throttle just to keep up with traffic!

      @DanDamV 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jhammond64 Wow! Thank you so much for such a detailed answer! I truly appreciate it! Yeah, I'll probably skip it and go for something bigger that will probably last me more. I was thinking of choosing something from Yamaha's CP2 Engile lineup but I'm also down for some Hondas 500s. But sometimes I wonder if it's too much for a beginner. I guess I'll know in a few months once I've taken my License Courses. Thanks again! Have a great day and stay safe!

    I too ended up considering either Tracer 7 or the Tiger. Ended up with the Tracer as I preferred the looks over the tiger, and quite simply because Triumph dealerships tend to be few and very far between in my country...
    I think the Tracer 7 is a gorgeous bike in the right colour combinations, but I opted for the base model as I didn't really need the panniers, and the gt-screen, though far more functionsl than the useless standard screen, just looks awful on the bike...

    My first bike was and still is a Cb500f. I think it's great, but a little more power would be useful, especially when it comes to overtaking on the motorway, and for touring with luggage. I'm looking at this or the Tiger Sport 660 as a next bike and appreciate this review. I think I would go for the Tracer gt in that matte green finish.

    FDONK! 😆 I’ve owned a Tracer 7 since last spring and it too is my first ‘big’ bike after getting my licence. After my Mod2 debrief, my instructor asked if I had a first bike in mind, but I really wasn’t at all sure, probably something a bit retro like the Bonneville 900 or Guzzi V7 I thought, after all, the fella I took my Mod 1 alongside had a CCM Spitfire on order! However, he suggested the Tracer7 as a great ‘gateway’ bike to discover my riding style and what I might want from a second bike. I initially pulled a face but needless to say, I now love my Tracer, it is everything I could want from a first bike, to the point where I struggle to think what I might eventually replace it with - a Tracer 9 perhaps?
    As for the weather, yeah, it’s been grim. And now we’re back into minus temperatures again :-( Roll on spring! ☀️

    Another consideration when weighing up between the Tracer 7 and Tracer 7 GT, if - and I emphasise the ‘if’ as I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea - you’re thinking of financing on a PCP, although the GT is about an extra £800-odd, the residual value is significantly greater at the end of the term, so there’s not much difference in the monthly payments. Unfortunately, I would have had to wait some months for a GT, until after summer, but my local Yamaha dealer had a regular Tracer7 in the showroom ready for take off - where do I sign?! 🚀

    • @redangrevival
      @redangrevival  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I am planning to buy a Tracer ... I am 183 cm tall and weigh 95 kg. I sat on the Tracaer, I even had the opportunity to drive it for a short time and somehow the bike seems small to me.
    I had an MT07 before and sold it just to buy a bigger/taller bike. Has anyone my height driven a tracer 7 and what experiences have they had? I'm afraid that I won't buy a motorcycle again that will be too small/too low for me.
    As far as power is concerned, CP2 is more than enough for me.

    • @redangrevival
      @redangrevival  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @yusha9205 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am your size and weight. I ride the tracer 7 for 2 years now. My "problems" with the bike are that the seat even though it is the comfort seat from yamaha kills me after an hour in the saddle and I feel shoulder and neck getting cramped around the same time. I think it is quite the small bike. very nimble and controllable because of that. the oem screen is terrible and after some testings with aftermarket screens it still isnt buffeting free. Good bike but id love something bigger.

      I'm 196cm tall and, maybe it's because I've just ridden only small naked bikes and I got used to have a cramped position, but the times I've sat on top of the Tracer 7 it is a good height and very confortable. Have to try longer trips when I end up buying the Tracer 7, but don't consider this bike "small" at all. Of course, if comaring with some big BMW, it's a different thing, but this is still a bike that lets you commute in cities.

    As a former Vstrom rider , I now own the Triumph tiger 660 sport I can honestly say that I much prefer the looks of these bikes than the tracer 700. Performance wise the Triumph just pips the Yamaha and Suzuki as it's a triple as you said but I'm biased but I love the sound and sheer grunt of the Triumph. As someone who has owned a 660 Tiger and the new Tracer 7, I can honestly say the Tracer goes just as well, handles better and feels so much lighter. After demoing the Tracer 7 and jumping back on the Tiger, it felt heavy and cumbersome. Great engine though. But the CP2 engine of the Tracer 7 just feels so revvy and balanced and it seems to have low level torque greater than the 660 triple.

    Shame Yamaha didn't give it cruise control. Should be std on all mainstream brand bikes now like ABS which is mandatory.
    Honda have brought back their Transalp probably much more expensive though.

Going to do a test ride when it warms up. When my Speed Triple RS is finally fixed (gearbox issues) start of february, I think I might chop it in for one or a Speedmaster …………

    Really can't understand your conclusion. The suspension alone is more than enough reason to go for the Tiger 660.
    I own an MT07 and it's crap in twisties mostly due to the soft telescopic forks. Has other shortcomings not relevant to the Tracer. In any case, having test driven the Tiger, I'd choose that over the MT07 every day and most likely over the Tracer as well.

      Think a combination of time of year and the world economy! All new bikes will start coming in around March time

      I think a more obvious competition for this bike is the honda nc750x. Only 58 bhp though but I had one of the new ones and it handled beautifully, was comfy and would cruise at the speeds you say the yam was stretched no problem at all completely vibration free. Also 80 mpg. But didn’t like the dct gearbox.

      @@volt8684 That is a good point 👍 I must book a ride in on the Honda

    Looks aside, this is a solid, real life, proposition for pretty much everything you’ll likely do on tarmac with a motorcycle.
    Having toured Europe on a Suzuki DR800 for many years, I can say that I don’t need 160hp to have fun on a bike. That’s nice to have but by no means essential. Paint her black and I would take her on tour anytime!
    Cheers,
    Lupo

      Hi Lupo, I couldn't agree with you more 👍 I think it really is all you need, and is also great fun to ride. Personally I might go for the Tracer 9 over the 7.

    The triumph tiger 660 has a much longer spec list than the tracer, Yamaha need to get a finger out and bring the Tracer up to date.

    I have been riding my tracer 7 now for a year, coming down from 1000 cc's and more for the last 40 years and I never missed the power of bigger bikes. The topspeed is not as high as f.i. my former FJR1300AS, but the mid range power is super and the handling and lightweight of the bike is super. With 98 ron fuel consumption is 1:25.3, and chain wear and tyre wear are nearly not noticeable. I use a puig touringscreen and daytona heated grips. Wonderful!

      Maybe it’s because the tracer 7 is made in France by Yamaha/MBK France and not in Japan.

      That means that there will be little aftermarket kit for it. Like for moving the rider's pegs forward.
