Can you be more specific about the battery? How long it last for mix of office work, browsing, youtube, video play, music? Is the pen magnetic and can be attach to the laptop? I read a lot about yoga convertible hinge being damaged, is it true? What about temperature when gaming, since it only has 1 fan?
@@mikegames7078 The first time was under warranty, and they replaced the whole top half because it cracked the screen. The second time happened last week. I was able to catch it before cracking the screen, so I think it's recoverable. The screen side of the hinges are screwed into plastic that is glued to the aluminum back, and the plastic snapped. I'm planning to secure the hinge directly to the aluminum back with bolts and inset nuts. Hopefully I can get a few more years out of it yet. The same thing happened to my sister's yoga from 2018, actually. Within a year of her buying it. I though "Gee, Lenovo is a reputable company. They make Thinkpads and those are pretty good. Surely, they'll have this hinge issue fixed two model years later, right??" Well, this is how it turned out.
I am going back to school in September, and a convertible Laptop like the yoga 7 2in1 with the stylus pen (didn't even mention that in the video) should the way to go hopefully. There are so many different models from hp, msi, dell, Samsung etc. so it gets really confusing and stressful to find the device suitable for my needs. I think I will go for the yoga 7, because it has decent specs, looks great and has an amazing OLED display while the price isn't too outrageous. Also thinking of installing Lightroom and Photoshop on it to edit my RAW photos when I am travelling.
I’ve been looking at buying a laptop for my son who starts college in September too. I share your comments about how difficult it is! It’s not just the specs, it’s also the after sales service & reliability. I was keen on some Asus models until I watched & read lots of negativity about their warranty / servicing. I then gravitated toward HP Spectre 360….until I started reading about folk having issues with the hinges (& on 2024 models too)….which is why I’ve ended up a Lenovo 7i or 9i 2 in 1. Im struggling between the 7i & 9i though. I’m based in the UK and on Lenovo’s UK site, it is possible to ‘build’ your own 7i with the same processor used in the 9i, and 2.8k OLED screen, & 32Gb memory & 1TB…..and it comes out £280 cheaper……so I’m struggling to see if the 9i is worth the extra, and the only think I can really identify so far is that the 9i has the speakers in the hinge where as the 7i has them either side of the keyboard….the issue then being on the 7i when you put it in tent mode or with the keyboard facing the desk, then the sound is not going to be good.
I bought it but I won't be keeping it. There's only one fan and it's set up to be very quiet, so it doesn't spin at all during light use. But after just half an hour of browsing the web, the chassis gets very warm, maybe 40 C, which gets uncomfortable to rest your hands on. You have very little control over the fans. While you can play some games like Skyrim, the fan won't be too loud but the chassis will heat up over time. Another weak point was the on board audio jack. I loved the screen though, it could handle an overclock up to 66 Hz.
I have the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yogo (which is in many ways a sibling of this laptop) and it's absolutely great! Seeing the inclusion of the AMD processor and graphics is a big plus too, and the 2K OLED is a great middle ground without going overboard for a 4K panel (like mine has).
The First thing I do with My Lenovo Yoga Is fold it up and use it for My college illustration work of course after getting my Adobe apps up and running... It quite an interesting and desirable convertible.
If you get one of these laptop. Go with the 16gb version. They have the 8gb version but the APU uses almost half of that ram t for it to run. And the ram can not be upgraded.
Has anyone found the 2K OLED display on the yoga 7? The only option is WUXGA @ 45%NTSC with 300 nits??? Can you post the link to the laptop you reviewed. I hope this isn't an AI review!
First thing I would do is gift it. Friend of mine is heading to college and needs a laptop why not. Fact about thyself , walking into a room the light shines for others 1:44
Dude. You can't say Lenovo has the best hinges. There was a class action for yoga hinges breaking. As of writing, my four year old yoga 7 has a broken hinge, and this is the second time it has happened. The first time was repaired under warranty, but this time I'm just going to drill holes through through the back plate and put bolts all the way through. My sister has a yoga 7 from 2018 and she got a broken hing too! Cut the BS man. No one wants to watch an effing advertisement.

Was originally just looking for something cheep to replace my old hp which finally crapped out on me (would keep "resetting" back to whatever state the laptop was in the day prior after any updates). Unfortunately for me cheap laptops I guess are locked to only use Microsoft software so I had to dip into something a little pricier, I didn't actually realize that this was a 2 in 1 though when I got it lol, best buy didn't really tell me it was. Oh well, at least I know I have some pretty good for when I have to travel away from my pc.
isn't it rumored to be the first Snapdragon X Elite SoC laptop to be the Lenovo Yoga in a couple of weeks? Even if you are happy with the CPU in this x86 i just would wait. Best case: If the ARM Chip is actually as good as microsoft wants it to be you would get a great 2-1 device with a much better battery life and much better fanless performance. and if you still want the x86, prices will come down for them. My question is when you fold it to use it as a tablet does the OS stay the same. Of Which I assume is windows 11 and how does that play when you’re not using a mouse and keyboard? Personally I would think it would be a better experience if it switches to more of a tablet Ui with icons and widgets. Of which funny enough the old school windows 8 with the live tiles would be better suited 😅 maybe…
It heats up like all laptops. Like the macbook especially. It weighs 4 LB. The fan is very quiet and doesn’t spin all the time due to that which is why the laptop can overheat.
Hello guys, can anyone tell me if this oled model is affected by visual problems particularly on a white background. I'm talking about the visibility of the grid and the moiré effect. The only downside is both USB-C ports are on the same side.
Lenovo, put one on each side so we can charge either way.

The macbook pro will also heat up in the same way, just use AC in the room or put a fan under it.
