why so hush about the LLM used in these glasses? i personally like to know which model I’m using when engaging for any type of requests or just general chat.
please share more of what the glasses do do they integrate well with iOS? What does the feature do? How does it integrate with your phone? Are you able to run commands using your interface in conjunction with my phone such as Apple shortcuts?
These smart glasses are absolutely fascinating-it's like stepping into the future! Watching your review, especially the part where the kid tried them out in the living room, brought back memories of similar moments with my son. I can totally picture us sharing that same excitement together. I’d love the opportunity to win this giveaway, not just to feel like the next James Bond but to experience all the incredible features these glasses have to offer-without any messy cables or external devices! One feature I’m especially excited about is the translation capability. My son and I are practicing both Spanish and English, so I can see us using that feature a lot. It’s perfect for those father-son moments when we’re learning together or even when he's working on school assignments, like preparing for a persuasive speech. I can also imagine us using the navigation feature when we’re walking around the city-exploring and learning together.
Glad I'm not the only one who sees this as a potential fix for my ADHD task amnesia. Having a quest tracker like in-game would be insane QOL update for us.
If these had bone conduction headphones and a totally open API I'd get some. As is it's like buying a $600 monitor that only works with a single application.
Lack of open API is a bummer, but there is a workaround. Since these glasses can just display any text from notifications, you could just write apps to display text to the glasses by sending notifications. You can even disable the required "look up" to display notification gesture and just have the notification display immediately in the app settings. It would be nice to have API access to draw more than just text, but the text is really all you actually need. I have several ideas for things I want to develop for this already. Also you could just use wireless earbuds with this anyways. Bone conduction headphones are usually not that great.
@@themetal2244as a user of bone conduction headsets for 12 years, I beg to differ. They are excellent for their intended purpose, which is to deliver audio in a non-isolating way.
I also wonder if they allow API keys to control over manual input choices and link them to custom applications. Although from the company’s financial interest this might be highly unlikely, the potential for development is endless if that becomes a reality.
@@minjunkevink That's the thing though, I don't buy opening API access being against company financial interest. We know for a fact that big players like Apple and Meta are looking to enter this space in a big way in the near future. From a software perspective, Even Realities cannot compete with them, nor could they likely match either in overall pricing, as they operate at a smaller scale. The advantage they do have is being first to market. By opening API access, they would be effectively crowd sourcing their immediate software advantage over future competitors. The only negative from a financial perspective here is if they plan to sell more software offerings down the line, which is short sighted. They need to have a big product audience to be able to do that. If they get eclipsed by a competitor, they will instantly lose this audience.
Having the display right in front of you is way more useful than just audio. The features they designed are perfect for the display. Getting navigation or real-time translation on the screen is super convenient! I can imagine adding a display is much harder than audio, and haven't seen anything with a display that looks this much like regular glasses.
@@SebKrogh xreal does have audio though. The audio is the easy part the screen is relatively hard. A lot suffer with that. i love my meta glass, i can listen to music and make phone calls. i can take photos and videos, it has ai as well. Next generation should have display.
I love my meta ray bans. The camera being able to look and read and translate is very cool. The AI really works. The audio replaces AirPods for the most part. I am older and one downside to these is it is only single vision for prescription. I need progressive. Rayban does not do my high power prescription so had to send to a third party for lenses. That's what they're all missing! It's like you can only have some, but we want all: HUD, mic, speakers, camera, long battery, etc, and still look stylish which is the difficult part. Stylish and natural design
Gotta say Jon. Been following you since the TechnoBuffalo days. Put a smile on my face seeing how much your son has grown. My favorite quality about you has nothing to do with tech, it’s the family man you’ve become.
I'd love to use these for navigation in the near term, but as a maker I'd love to see the interface/app get opened up to allow users to write their own "widgets" for the glasses. I'm thinking of one that could be used for paragliding to show the wearer information about altitude, speed, wind conditions, navigation etc. Super cool!

The navigation only supports walking and biking, but it doesn't stop you from using it while driving. It's just that there's no traffic data and the ETA will be very skewed. A 10-minute drive may display on the glasses as being an hour or more.

Will the G1 glasses pair to ANT+ or Bluetooth sensors used by cyclist? Is there an app to display cycling metrics in real time? I will be very interested in these is they do.
I'd love to gift these to my deaf partner. He could use the translate feature as live closed-captioning, which would change his world! He would love to go to comedy shows, theater, concerts, and just the every day interactions would become that much more possible!
I really want to make voice calls with these. As a working engineer, I just see so much potential with even a simple waveguide. Knowing next meeting and walking directions (yea I am a city slicker). I think the teleprompter is really handy especially with meetings and man, they look a bit better than my meta glasses because of that frame and flexible nosepads. The sunglasses clipon is genius. The case is sleek, curious about battery life though.
Great video and a promising piece of tech that I would love to try myself however I wish you would have touched on the battery life and at least mention something about the cost, However, as always, thank you for your video.

These are definitely the best and most promising looking smart glasses I have seen yet. Love that they went with the green dot matrix looking display. Gives the HUD almost a retro vibe while being easy on the eyes. Hope to pick up a pair.

Thanks for the review Jon ! I need to get Karafun Karaoke directly onto the glasses - or - at least the lyrics (pdf) from whatever song to scrolling down - because i simply cannot seem to remember lyrics as such - but I love to sing...if that makes sense...🤩😜
So, I have tested them for a few days now and I never felt so disappointed to be honest. If you're looking to buy one, don't. I have a review coming tomorrow talking about all the things that are wrong with these.

I actually own several pairs of various “smart glasses,” (i.e., Rayban Meta’s, and Xreal AR/VR glasses); however, I’m really intrigued by these, particularly this feature the other smart glasses I own do not have which is this see through screen. I am a speaker at educational events, and I’m thinking of a case use of utilizing this teleprompter mode feature in public speaking to deliver successful presentations.
Not being able to use the navigation for driving AND not having live transcribe/subtitle for deaf people (me) is the biggest let down personally. If it had these 2 features I would actually buy them
Thought for sure I was going to see bone conduction for audio support. Guess you'll still need to wear earbuds for that .Pretty cool glasses but I'll wait for more features.
I wanted these, but then notice no camera? I was hoping to say things to the AI, like, "what's the name of this flower" or "what dog breed is this?" and it can view it and look it up. Please correct me if I'm mistaken and it can do these things.
I love tech like this it’s not trying to do too much while remaining high quality. the language interpretation assistant seem to be the most useful aspect. I’m sure AI will make it better with time.
Brilliant! The genius is not what it packed into the glasses, But what it kept out. Like the Walkman, pocket calculator, palm pilot and the notebook computer ... simplicity is the key. Since its just a film on the glasses ... there will be a slew of similar products that will follow this design. Since the frames and lens are optional ... cost and therefore price will also be much lower in 6 months time.
I love this a lot and would actually use it as a prototype for making my own glasses much more similar like you and also include some other features if possible
I ended as disabled 24hr care on a hospital bed , need your honest advice is it the best one up to today this time especially after all the other ones have been reviewed ? Appreciated cheers
I wonder if this will eventually be able to include sports metrics. Imagine while running you could see all the info that's on your watch but in your line of sight. Would be dope if the lenses were also eventually polarized or an option. It would also be cool, when you go to a new rock climbing area and are unsure of the beta that the holds could be highlighted. Love this.
First thing is, to take a look in the mirror :) but the glasses remember me of my INMO Go … love the idea and hope there will be a AR Web app to see the frames on my self
great! i think combination of ray ban meta & these would be ideal.!! But meta only works in usa & canada so need a world wide one! What about playing music in good quality through bone condcuting?
So the glasses just provide a remote display for the app running on your phone? The phone will need to be out of your pocket/ bag and close to hand so that the microphone and GPS will work properly, right? I like that it's light, but I am thinking the RayNeo X2 Lite might be better, with all the cameras, microphones, sensors and processing taking place onboard the (admittedly bigger and heavier) glasses.
Its about 8 meter range for the connection to phone. The glasses just has microphones, display, battery and touch sensors. Your phone does all the processing/gps.
Eh. I think it makes waaay more sense to be using smart glasses as an extension of the phone for the time being. You already mentioned the bulk factor, but battery life is a huge issue. When you try to fit more compute and sensors ( especially video camera) into glasses like this, you're going to be draining battery a lot, which means battery capacity needs to go up, which means glasses get bigger. The Rayneo X2 has really bad battery life, which already makes it a non starter as a phone replacement. If you still have to carry a phone anyways, why not leverage it? Phones already have good compute and battery, this frees the design of the glasses up massively. The G1 approach, with hyper efficient monochrome waveguide displays for battery and what I would consider to be the minimum viable amount of sensors (just microphones and accelerometer/touch) is the best approach for where technology is at now. IMO, people are looking too far ahead and wanting outright smartphone replacement right now, and we're just not there yet. Only thing I would ask for in addition to what is currently on offer here is open API. That would really make this a great product.
Do you know the size of the lenses? I contacted Even Realities about frame and lens size but never got answer. want to buy these for my trip to Japan but I Wanna makes sure they fit me
If Sat nav worked for cars/motorcycles would be ace! Agree that this is a very good prototype rather than consumer ready product. Still very cool and look forward to next versions.. 👌

If you were reading the words toa song and playing a live gig, would the letters move down in their own??
Love this.
Well, I ordered mine. Can't wait for them to ship next month.
First thing is, to take a look in the mirror :) but the glasses remember me of my INMO Go … love the idea and hope there will be a AR Web app to see the frames on my self
Can these glasses read text or detect text. Example, If I’m looking at a food menu at a restaurant.
Whether it is available in India?
Would definitely be using the translation features to better my freelance photography, allowing me to outreach to even more people.
I actually wear glasses so I would love to try these out in some real world applications!
Is this available in the US?
Hello, Jon, how are you? I would like to know if the glasses need internet or any outside access to use AI and translation
Great video! Exicited about the teleprompter feature! Would use it to help making my videos.
im going to a japanese concert in a few days, but I don’t speak japanese. I’d use my glasses to translate the lyrics it would be EPIC!
One thing that wasn’t mentioned. Does it have speakers to listen to music?
It skips speakers to save battery, size and weight. I think I'd rather listen to my high quality wireless earbuds
great! i think combination of ray ban meta & these would be ideal.!! But meta only works in usa & canada so need a world wide one! What about playing music in good quality through bone condcuting?
Are there other shapes? Not a fan of round frames
Major question. Can these glasses provide real time closed captions of conversations? My daughter is deaf and that would be a game changer for her.
Jon. I’m Late to the game on this one. Seems cool. But can the external viewer see any signs of an extra light or notification on the lens?
these looks nice and stylish would definitely wear this glasses everyday
If it has a video camera to capture text and do live translation would be helpful
are the frames adjustable? as in can i make the arms curve outwards? and is there a frame option for wide?
Good job Jon, chapters would be useful though.
This video was a TH-cam recommendation-I LIKE it!
Do you know the size of the lenses? I contacted Even Realities about frame and lens size but never got answer. want to buy these for my trip to Japan but I
Wanna makes sure they fit me
If Sat nav worked for cars/motorcycles would be ace! Agree that this is a very good prototype rather than consumer ready product. Still very cool and look forward to next versions.. 👌
Being away from tech and with tech sounds really promising!
They are about double the price of what they should be. Cool product! Lets see if they survive! Good luck!
I'm looking to find someone to do a review on the teleprompter portion. I'm a public speaker and I'm on the fence
I would definitely try them to translate and try to learn new languages. I wonder if this would make me more lazy or more dependent on tech though.
First thing I would do would be checking out the navigation !
I would use them in my lab to label centrifuge tubes in real time so I wont forget what clear liquid is what!
I’ve been looking at these for a bit now, love the tech
If they're prescription, can I get transition lenses with these?
Hello from India. The first thing I would do is to use teleprompter for my meetings and translator when I am in a new place. Looking forward to it.
