    Thanks a lot for sharing knowledge, just did this on my 2007 Tacoma, did it with a 7/32 socket with an extensor, handle is not needed as you can turn the screw with one hand tight holding the extensor, working like a charm now that the heat is on. right on time. Thanks again!

    Yeah man it's exactly the same on the third gen a few more steps to remove the glove box and airbag but exactly the same behind it got it replaced in 15 minutes and the noise is gone. Toyota dealer told me what it was and wanted $800 plus actuator to fix it that's when I decided to go on TH-cam and saw your videos thanks again.

    Awesome video . Thanks man, a little irritating getting that back bolt off with a 5.5 mm wrench and no room to do so lol . But all in all easy fix , save your money and do a fun little autobproject . Thanks again .

    This video worked for me I fixed the problem for $30 and a little sweat! I wish I could thank this guy I would buy the bar for him. An auto shop might have charged me $300 or god only knows? If you have this problem you will do anything to stop the repetitive noise. You can't drive safely. He is correct a 7/32 standard works as well as the 5.5mm. I needed a 7/32 deep socket as short 5.5mm couldn't handle the top screw.

      @@stevenmederos I sold that Tacoma about seven years ago. If I remember correctly, it worked the entire time I had it after I changed it, which was a year. I have had two new Tacoma’s since then, and have not had an issue with either of them. I would recommend buying the factory part being that it’s such a pain in the butt to change.

    Hey man, thanks for making this video, its a huge help. My 07 is clicking like this when the temp selector is in the full hot position, but it stops in any other position and heat works fine. I will go get this part now. Appreciate it.

    This might be related to my taco’s not closing the air vent flap. The problem is even if I put the circulation inside I can still smell skunk stink inside.

    • @Speedracer-jh9hf
      @Speedracer-jh9hf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try changing your cabin air filter. The blend door actuator usually makes a clicking noise if its not working. (From what I've seen anyways.)

    This is misleading video.
    To be precise this is the recirculation actuator. There is a second actuator for the blend door. The blend door mixes the heat and cool air set by the temperature knob.
    The blend door actuator is a 4 pin connector and twice as much as the recirculating actuator.

    Mines the same but when the circulation button is off is off it clicks

    • @Speedracer-jh9hf
      @Speedracer-jh9hf  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think it would still be the same problem. The actuator only moves the flap that redirects airflow. I'd give iy a try.

  • @taibiservent
    @taibiservent ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My 05 Tacoma doesn’t make a clicking sound, but it blends the cold air with the hot air. Do you think it’s still the blend actuator that I need to replace?

    • @Speedracer-jh9hf
      @Speedracer-jh9hf  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As far as I know the blend door, only separates recirculate air from pass-through air. It is a little flap that allows the air to re-circulate or pass straight through fresh. I don’t think it would have something to do with hot or cold, but I am not an auto mechanic. I am a mechanic, but for small engines on jet skis, lawnmowers, motorcycles, etc. I would ask an auto mechanic. If so, I would just do it yourself. It’s really not that hard.

    Hey, I am so glad I found this. I am a ton of money into a fix and it still is making this noise. Interesting that mine clicks when in defrost and not on recirc. Only goes off when I take it out of defrost and hit the recirc. How long did it take to swap out the part? Cheers!

    • @Speedracer-jh9hf
      @Speedracer-jh9hf  ปีที่แล้ว

      About 15 - 20 mins but I've been a mechanic my whole life. I'd say 30 mins would be realistic for most people. Good luck!

    Can you show video that shows the range of motion the linkage to actuator actually travels when correct,mine clicked for weeks then stopped clicking,yet i see linkage moving and foam insulation covered door move and inch inand out when hitting recirculating button ..

      I actually sold that truck about four or five years ago. Sorry I couldn’t help you out. The part is not very expensive I would recommend just changing it. If you’re somewhat mechanically inclined you could get it done in 30 minutes.

      It has been a while since I've owned that truck and made the video but I do remember going to O'reillys and buying that part then making the video. I had a 2005 Toyota Tacoma regular cab 4x4 4cylinder. So if you have the same truck it'll work for sure. That was the exact box it came in.
