I know this comment is old, but it’s actually pretty easy to heal with this boss, just do it while he’s in the middle of his attacking animation.
Lmao ik that should happen in reality but in this game, they have their set movements of combos. They don’t teleport to you straight away. They only do it when they are attacking, that’s what makes it so easy to heal and beat the boss. The only hard part is not knowing when Lorian will stop attacking and Attack when he’s still attacking

They shouldn't be THAT surprised though. Priscilla could turn invisible in Dark Souls 1, Darklurker splits itself into two in Dark Souls 2, Dark Sun Gwyndolin can teleport in Dark Souls 1, Aava the King's Pet from Dark Souls 2 is invisible until you get a certain item, and Elana the Squalid Queen from Dark Souls 2 can teleport. _I think see a pattern here_ :P.

Out of all the base game bosses, this boss is easily my favorite, the music, design, gameplay. and dialogue blend perfectly to create a truly memorable boss, in my opinion at least

It's a pity that most players take the "this spot marks our grave" sentence as mocking. The way it's said I've always interpreted it as "There's no need for fighting, rest here with us".
Edit: most replies are insisting the condescending and snarky tone must mean it's an insult, but think about it from Lothric's perspective: how many times do you think this happened? It's another day to the grocery store. It's apathy, not condescension. Plus, he's royalty. While weak and frail, he had his whole life to get used to people doing what he wants at the snap of his fingers. That tone comes with the territory and it's likely the most polite he CAN sound.

Cripples can still be paladins and purify heretics with holy fire in dark souls :P. Remember in dark souls 2 one of the two hex trainers was in a wheelchair (most people kill him easily for the dragon chime but if you gave him a chance I bet he could destroy you with WoTG and whatever other miracles or hexes he uses).
This is the most epic music in the series, right next to Gehrman and Laurence.
Shame that music is so underrated in videogames.

It really isn't underappreciated though. The DS series osts are always super popular.
My personal favourite DS3 boss, Lorian's design is one of my favourite boss designs in all of Soulsborne. I love the teleportation mechanic, it must have taken ages to program a boss that can teleport straight into attacks and at such a high speed. The music is epic, the arena is gorgeous, the lore is meaningful. I just can't really find much to fault it, although I can see how people may not like it due to lots of potential for shitty RNG.
On another note, watching them trying to dodge the attack where Lorian charges up the sword and slams it down really stressed me out. Just a lock on and a simple dodge to either side was effective for me, whereas that one guy was trying to sprint and kept jumping hahaha
That smash attack can be annoying, if you're too close to them the sword's lingering hurtbox takes a bunch of HP.

Yeah best boss in the base game at least. I hate how they were trying to avoid that ground laser slam attack.
I love this boss, I only had trouble with this boss when it was my fault. With the charge attack, I always keep distance, wait till he smashes the ground and roll just as the light wave gets really close. I was probably also kinda lucky with how I finished them off, since I was a hit away from dying and they both were too. So I killed lorian, and as soon as he fell down I finished off Lothric. This was really beautiful boss, definitely one of the best in the series.
Its cool as hell but completely obnoxious when it decides to shit all over ya.
First 20 or so attempts I made on em, Lorian would do the teleport slam attack, multiple times in a row, in quick succession. Highest I counted was 7 in a row. Couldn't land a hit once he started doing it. Fixed it with a save quit then it still took another 10 tries because I was never able to learn the second phase attacks on previous attempts. At least I figured out that the route from Dragonslayer Armor bonfire is faster than the Dancer bonfire.
I can't imagine fighting lorian in his prime.
Imagine a prime lorian and healthy lothric boss fight. It'd be a nightmare lol. Now that I think about it, I don't think we've ever fought a lord in their prime during a dark souls game.

Professor X of dark souls
He supposedly fought a Demon Prince so he was pretty damn strong. I have very high confidence if he could fight at 100%, with Lothric riding his back with spells and miracles, he would be one of the most horrifyingly difficult bosses in the series (more than he already is). I may be overstating things but he'd probably beat a majority of the Souls series bosses. The only ones that would be able to best him off the top of my head would be: Four Kings, Manus, Gwyn, Nameless King, Champion Gundyr (debatably), and Slave Knight Gael. There's probably others, but he was not a man to be trifled with when he was mobile.

I absolutely love this boss, I killed him yesterday after about 3-4 hours collectively of trying to kill him and it was so fun at the end. Having them down to a science where I basically knew exactly when are where they were gonna attack. Some of the best video game design in history.

This bos gave me a whole lot more trouble than the nameless king who gave me none.
But still one of my favorite boss fights ever.
Personally, this is my favorite boss in the entirety of the series. The lore is moving, but the fight itself is a wonderful mixed bag of difficult, surprising, and just plain fun IMO.

I had more trouble with these fucking twins than The Nameless King and Orphan of Kos
I've never actually got to fight the King cause of the shite camera during the Storm Drake fight. So these guys were the toughest fight during my first playthrough.
Robby Zendarski Kos was way too hard for me, he's fast, unpredictable, and his combos always one shots me. Laurence was easy, Idk why so many people are having such a hard time with him. Ludwig on the other hand, his first phase was hard(very similar to kos) while the second phase was easy.
YoRHa No.2 Type B Laurence is broken at higher ng cycles, people have trouble with him cuz of his broken hitbox, the tiny arena you fight him in and his so many one-shots (i'm talking ng+4 and higher). kos is indeed a tough boss until you realize that he's easily parried and can also be back stabbed, which makes his fight a lot easier.
I feel bad for the two brothers, they just want to rest.
Love the music for this fight. The struggle for the retrieval of the last, most powerful, reluctant lord soul and it FEELS like it
I remember that time when servers were still opened, I was helping a guy to fight this boss and Lorian teleported himself into the wall, above the gate... it was surprising, this 3 seconds confusion between the host and me, wondering where the fuck Lorian was before we saw him glitching in textures.
This is my favorite boss in dark souls 3. Not because of lore, or aesthetics, but because of how awesome it felt to fight them.

I know that many players don't rank this boss so high in difficulty, but I actually struggle with this boss more than I do with any of the DLC bosses. the teleporting and the relentlessness of his blows seem to always wear me down. thank god they don't have high hp, or they would've been a nightmare.

Yummybutter midir is very predictable I beat him several times with no estus used, the only thing that catches me in Midir's attacks is that lazer frenzy in the second phase. other than that, there's nothing threatning about him.

I found this boss to be hard for the wrong reasons and insanely frustrating. Almost all my deaths to it felt pretty unfair because it was usually due to his spell effects obscuring my vision of what was happening on screen, or due to his teleports randomly breaking my targeting and having to constantly retarget him, which interfered with my ability to roll, and because of the awkward position of the right stick on the xbox controller, the constant switching was irritating my carpal tunnel and making my thumb and index finger go numb, so the more I attempted it, the fight became close to being impossible for me.
When you get to it, imma need the Spear of the Church reaction to be like an hour long

This fight gave me a lot of headaches, haha, but now this is one of my favorite boss fights in DS3. It was great to see these guys struggling and dying countless times, but eventually beating the Twin Princes. It's so satisfying!
I really like the line Lothric says when you die. Even if it gets grating after the 200th time

This was near impossible with an ultra greatsword
I did it with an ultra great sword that was fun, dmg out of the fucking ass and being able to do like 500 dmg per hit on this boss of first play through was a god send to me( i usually use an ultra and this boss was hard when i was using a great axe)
Dragonslayer Greataxe made this fight a fucking joke.
This fight is easy overall for me with any weapon.
Lorian just deals so much physically damage.
Kaseius not realizing he's really the bad guy in this at the end is pretty fucking funny.
