I solod Friede because I played a cracked version of DS3, it took me like 6h of trys but in the end it felt so good beating her
- since then i purchased a legit version of the game lol
I speedrunned through first part of Ringed City dlc to help someone with Midir and only after that went back to Ariandel
I was going to try to beat Friede solo anyways, but i was kinda scared when i found out that you can't summon Gael if Demon Prince is dead

Blackflame Friede‘s Execution is beyond epic. It gives me pure goosebumps. A living Executioner, punishing you for killing Father Ariandel in an epic grapple move. Insane. I love this boss fight to the core.

the girl with the heart rate thingy, her heart rate jumped to almost 200 when she missed the punished at end lmao
I didn't rely on audio cues for the first phase, I started noticing that she either jumps over you or she runs sideways. By the shape of the "snow" cloud lifted by her feet when she leaps from the spot she became invisible in, you can determine where she went. Also, if she leaps/runs to a piece of furniture in the scene, she destroys it, that gives her away immediately.

I love the fact that everyone is only annoyed by Father Ariandel, but are absolutely terrified of Friede.
I have to say, this fight is by and large my favorite fight of the series. Its difficult, its visually amazing, its got that surprise factor for each time you get to a new phase. Its just plain amazing, and god damn if I didn't scream for joy when I beat her after like 20 deaths.

I kept wondering why everyone thought Ariandel was Friede’s father and then I realized not everyone is unlucky enough to have attended Catholic School.
Same. Well, just mass for me rather than school, but still. I'd have thought all the cathedrals in the game plus Frieda being Sister Frieda would have clued people in that it wasn't a father-daughter pair.
@@SolaScientia the amount of people who are unable to pick up on story without having it spoon fed to them is painful. Look at DS1. So many people were saying the game has no story when its one of the deepest lores out there.
@Chris G Seriously. I try to find all the lore I can in the game, both what NPCs tell me and what I can find via lore notes in the game. Admittedly I tend to do a good bit of looking up on wikis to fill out my knowledge as well. It'll be fun learning the lore along with everyone else with Elden Ring. I've been late to the previous games, so I never had a problem looking up something if I was lost or confused, but that'll be a bit different this time.

the phase 3 is masterfully set up, it REAAAALLY seems like the fight is done especially since 99% of bosses have 2 phases at most, and on top of that they give you a titanite slab for finishing phase 2 which basically acts as a decoy "reward" for beating the boss, and then seeing the reward you wait for that sweet sound along with "HEIR OF FIRE DESTROYED" but it just never comes
just the beginning of phase two alone is awesome. The way the music just escalates. the inferno of fire and ice, the intensity of the 2 on 1... and you're just so relieved and proud when you beat the two. And then Friede gets back up. And the music kicks in again. My dude. I never shat my pants like this in any souls game, and that's saying a lot

When Sister Friede goes invisible you can see where she jumps and lands. If you get close to her (and I mean real close) then you can see her and make sure to hit her before she attacks. Most of the time she will jump behind you.

The reason Friede is so hard is because she uses a scythe.
I think in all the soul games very few enemies use scythes Even in DS3 only one other boss "Aldrich" uses one. Except he doesn't even use it as a scythe, mainly a magical weapon and large swings.. nobody ever got to fight against them effectively lol. And Scythes have the weirdest move sets, hit boxes, and do extra damage on sweet spots.
Even bloodborne had their final boss as a scythe user.

its why no one really has trouble dodging full gael combos but friede is largely handled by keeping big distance

There actually IS a way to know where Friede goes, it's just not easy to pick up on. The spray of snow from her jump after she goes invis tells you whether she jumped to your left, right, or behind you

Sister Freide is easy if u: use a light weapon for the first phase, prioritize ariandel in the second, use a light weapon for the third and use a pyromancer +10 while she is doing she animation that turns her into black flame
Got stuck here then played ringed city til I got to Gael, now I'm seriously stuck without his help
It's insane how Elden Ring improves your skill in previous Souls games beyond imagination. I couldn't beat Friede's first two phases without summons at all, let alone the third phase. Now, after completing Elden Ring a few times, I got her 1st try without any summons, even had a few flasks left.

This boss fight surpasses Nameless King as the second best boss in the game and takes the second place imo, right after the Abyss Watchers. Abyss Watchers are still the best.
Abyss cosplayers are lame, just a mess of a fight. Beat it in second attempt. Sister Friede is the Artorias of DS3. I did not even knew that you could summon Gael for the fight.

Sister Friede.. more as Lady Death, the animation/fight style to Sister Friede is probably my favorite out of all the bosses.

@@nemasisdemarini8339 To people playing their first Souls game, maybe. My first playthrough of DS3 had me do Friede 6 times before finally memorizing her attacks and my first Souls game was DSR. The ones in the video just kept coming back and eventually defeating her by either getting lucky or good
Funny how Gael gets his ass kicked in this fight and by the end of the last DLC he's like the most powerful being in the whole Dark Souls universe.

It seems a trend among bosses turned into NPC's.. I summoned Father Gascoine on my NG+ playthrough, he got destroyed by ONE of those brick dudes!! Whereas in his boss arena he destroyed me a dozen times (I only won because he glitched, jumping into the wall xD)

Anthony Bruno I dodge left or right, then parry his super telegraphed attacks. Much easier in my opinion because the box triggers his transformations faster.

For me personally Dancer gave a lot more trouble. It took me 30+ tries on dancer meanwhile i was gonna clear Friede on first try until I found out she has a third phase. For me only phase 3 was problematic.

I think the greatest chance of dying is not rolling at all.
Spamming roll backwards usually works great for me when I need distance. Spamming rolls only fails if you're trying to roll around the boss without timing it with their attacks.

The only reason for me, ariandel itself is one of my least favorite areas in the game, if only they add sub areas and more bosses like ringed city then it was probably going to be way better, since they both have same price as well..
But thankfully i love sister friede as the boss and one of my favorites, so still good thing i guess..
Nah, the Painted World was genuinely one of the best areas in the entire game. It was better overall than the swampshow we got in The Ringed City.
This is one of the worse designed boss in ds3, I think. It's difficult, but in a bad way.
The first phase invisibility just gives player too little information to learn the attack pattern. It's natural for players to kite away from an invis enemy. One needs to have the mindset of not-win, to get close and learn how the invis attack works. If you look up online how the invisibility attack works, then it's also a super easy fight. Bad design.
The second phase can be kited indefinitely very easily... so there is no challenge fundamentally, it's just a time grinder... bad design.
The third phase is okay... It's also not that great because the trick is pretty much constantly back pedaling until you see an opening. In contrast to, for instance, the nameless king fight where you need to constant dodge in close range (better design). The third phase is also annoying because the second phase is such a time grinder, so learning the attack pattern of the third phase is also just a time grinder
