The entry and the music camera angle everything is of epic proportion as Nameless King enters the arena on King of storm. It is easily one of those Oh shit moment. Nameless King is a perfect example of a Dark Souls boss done perfectly only next to Gael. He might not be the hardest but he is very satisfying to watch because of the feel of his blows and that walk.
Nameless King definitely is not a perfect boss. Phase 1 is a slog and the camera is terrible on it. After your first 2 attempts having to do it every time sucks.
1. I’ve never seen Flo get so pissed at dark souls before and I was low key howling but also understand his pain 2. Well done my man, you best the best main game boss imo. 10/10 effort
Bro I love this boss. I did my first DS3 playthrough recently, and Nameless King was one of the most memorable fights. The buildup, the atmosphere, the first phase teasing his power and then the power-up cutscene into phase 2, all of it was fire. Whilst he was a challenge, I didn't find him nearly as hard as I was expecting, I found him extremely well rounded, and fair so long as you take time to learn his move set and read his tells. I s'pose the same could be said for most if not all Soulsbourne bosses but even so, fantastic fight. Two bosses left on my playthrough: Darkeater Midir and Gael.
The funny part is, in the lore, the nameless king is the son of Gwyn. In the war against the dragons, Gwyn used his own unique form of lightning called sunlight to combat them, and he taught that very same lightning to his son. After allying himself with the dragons, the enemies of Gwyn, the Nameless King was disowned and banished from Anor Londo. His name was stripped from the annals of history, and his likeness was erased from existence. You can see some broken statues in both Dark Souls 1 and 3 that used to be statues of the nameless king, and you can join a covenant from these demolished statues. So this nameless king, is a god who wields sunlight to destroy the player. And that is why he is so damn powerful.
bro i feel this so much, you have this one god run where you nearly kill him just to follow it by 20 soul crushing bad runs where you question your own existence
Bro you have a really strong narrative presence. By the end of the boss even I was like “we did it 😤” as if I was part of the journey. Subscription well earned glad to be a part of the journey

This fight was tough for me too. I would say that it’s the hardest fight in the souls series, well in my experience anyway. It was similar to the Fume Knight from DS2 in that I had to just give up but then beat him in NG+ when I was stronger. With Nameless King I had to use a shield that had 100% lightening protection but unfortunately the only one I could find came from a boss’s soul, a boss’s soul I had already used I help me level up. That’s the main reason I decided to try him in NG+ when I had he shield I wanted. I went full turtle and hid behind the shield and hit him when I saw the opportunity. I finally bet him and I haven’t fought him sincerely, that was enough for me! It helped that I had more health and other increased stats, it was needing the boss soul for the shield that pushed me into NG+, the Fume Knight was slightly different, I was sick of dying to him so just decided to level up more and try again in NG+, even though he was tougher I was nicely levelled up too. Not op I would say but I was definitely tougher and really comfortable with the game too in general
