The issue I have with monetising on TH-cam is that you have three groups you're trying to serve: your audience, who want good content; the advertiser, who wants to sell things to your audience; and TH-cam, who want you to get more views so more people to see the advertiser's ads.
The ideal result for TH-cam is people watching ads all day and not sticking around for a video because they clicked on the ads. The ideal result for the advertiser is the same thing, plus everybody who clicked on the ad buying something.
Neither of these is what your audience wants. Your audience wants the opposite of that. They want no ads at all so they can watch the video. If you don't monetise, and ads aren't in the picture for you, then your audience's goals line up with TH-cam - who wants them to stay on TH-cam, so they can see the ads on the NEXT video. But they would also like you to finish it up fairly quickly and not take too long, so they can get to that ad.

Amazing art-work & video, Ana!! ❤👏🏽I agree with all your points! "3 good friends is better than 1,000 fake friends" and having a close community is so true! And, I love that your videos aren't overly edited, it feels more genuine and relatable. When it's overly edited it can feel a bit like a disconnect even if it's a really good video edit imo. Keeping it simple can go a long ways! The planning ahead and pre-scheduling posts is so true, it helps a lot to be able to post and give yourself a break at the same time. Not worrying about aesthetics & likes, so true also! Being a content creator can really make someone get caught up in likes & views, which is only natural. But, I'm also still learning that the amount of likes, views, or comments doesn't determine the importance, quality, or worthiness of someone's content. Basically if a form of content doesn't get as many likes as someone else it doesn't mean it's less important. I've seen so many out this world talented content creators but they got 5 or 6 likes and/or 500 views. What's even more interesting is that sometimes there's people who don't engage but were still inspired by your content so that's more important than any amount of likes, comments, or views. 💕And, I agree, it's so important to genuinely enjoy what you're posting & doing for yourself! ❤

Great video, and great advice. I think it's so easy to get sucked up in the vital potential of youtube. Im so guilty of that. I spent many years trying to do gaming content, but i lost love for that. I wasnt doing it for my enjoyment. So i stopped. And because of some big life changes, I've refocused my priorities, and I started doing art again regularly for the first time in a decade. So now I've recently restarted youtube. And I am mostly doing art videos now. I am trying to do a mix of digital speed paint videos, and some cinematic film type ones. Kinda all over the place. 😂
