as an ibis user the thing with the fill tool is easy to fix. if you tap on where the brush is supposed to be, you can toggle "unpainted recognition" and "gap recognition" it makes it so much better Not me being the second top comment
you can also lower the "expansion" value there to 0 if you're a pixel artist and don't want the colors to go outside of the line and cause some blurring!
*fun facts about ibis from an ibis-only artist: Comic feature, The lag isn’t actually that bad, even though they warn about it Good text feature Simple tutorial Barley have to use the buttons, there’s quick use features for most (3 fingers for redo, 2 for undo, etc) Good animation feature, though still in development
@@xx-that-one-person-xx6315 you're right, it's too harsh, but even if you can customize your text by hand i think that it would be much better if we had more built-in customization options
@@kaylynnn7603 i use this app for every picture i need to edit (even slightly like changing the brightness) for i think 3 years and i don't think i've missed something big, maybe you're right, but still, like i said in previous comment, even if there are "hacks" to do it, it would be better if these options were built-in
Same I LOVE Ibis...but really a big problem is that we can't make custom brushes from scratch...once they make it...that app is gonna be in GOD LEVEL ✨
Girl ibis paint users are gonna lecture you. Prayer for your sanity. Edit : Oh god, the like keeps increasing. Viyaura : please restart trying free apps again but one app on one video each.
I know this might seem annoying, but I use Sketchbook and Ibis so I have some tips about your critique. Sketchbook: The eraser is basically just another brush category. If you scroll far enough in the menu, you’ll eventually find them. Ibis: you can adjust the paint bucket to fill better, and tap multiple times to expand it sort of. Also not sure if you noticed, but you can also change if it only applies to that layer or the whole canvas (default). Whenever you select it the setting appear in the bottom right. Sorry for just contradicting you and all, but I thought this would be useful information
another add for Sketchbook since I use it too, U can use any brush as eraser! just click the transparent button thingy (?) on the color wheel tab. I find it very useful :)
I'm a loyal ibisPaint user, and I have to disagree. The fill tool is just bad :( firstly even if there is some magic settings configuration to fix it that I don't know... why wouldn't that be the default?? And if you tap multiple times it'll color outside your lines a little bit, oftentimes overriding any texture you have from the brush you used. I find it's best to just manually color for smaller shapes, and use the fill tool but go around the edge to manually color in the gaps for really big shapes.
Ibis user here! Fun fact: not every art program is Procreate! Every art program has their own set of rules and functions; most of these programs are very generous with their features being well developed and free, and I don't think you properly took the time to explore how each one worked. I hope I don't come across super angry or something, I'm not good at conveying tone through text 😅 I'm sorry if it seems like I'm upset or rude or something of the sort
I am so with this as someone who has used all of the programs at some point, she gave none of them justice and it's clear she had a favoritism towards procreate. (especially with how she kept complaining about not being able to drag and drop the color LIKE BRO MOST ART PROGRAMS DONT DO THAT) MOST of the issues she had with the programs were quite easily fixable if she just LOOKED for the features. It was really irritating to watch this
@@coquette_snail when she mentioned that zooming in still looks pixel-y i think she toggled that on in her procreate app bc ibispaint also have antialiasing viewing
I AGREE!!! It felt like she wasn't even trying to search for anything or watch any tutorials on how to use them :( And in Ibis paint X she puts the ad thing like it's bad... Honestly for me it's very convenient since I only watch 1 ad for ALL the brushes and i think is very easy to use if you are a beginner digital artist (especially if you don't skip the tutorial) this is my opinion as a Ibis paint X user
On the first one look for gray and white that was an eraser and it literally so when you press the button, you press the button at pencil and a bunch of texture brushes, and like glow and splotches, and so many different tools I have it and it took me a minute to figure that out😅
4:02 fun fact: sometimes on ibis paint x, when u press the ad button it says 'we can't find an ad for you' and blah blah blah but then after you get the brushes for free for 18 hours so u don't have to watch an ad Edit: HOLD UP ITS BEEN A DAY HOW TF DID I GET 613 LIKES...can we get it to 1k? Edit 2: HOLY SIT....THANKS YALL FOR 1K THIS IS THE MOST LIKES IVE GOTTEN Edit 3 (IM SO DAMN SORRY): ....2K....*2K*....THANK YOU >:3 Edit 4 (WHYYYYY): YALL STAWP LIKING ITS 3K RN :0
17:02 You have to press the icon on the left side of the Option Gear in the top left, Pubblish and Export and Export As PNG. For create new brushed you have to modify the one you already have and duplicate the modified one as a new one. Or just use capture. About the payed version you just have more brushes selections and the possibility to import brushes. All tho, fair analisis but you should try the circle button feature. Nice vids :3
@@Starii_64 Only some features of the animation section need to be paid for, like customising canvas size and removing the watermark, etc. Everything else is completely free for it
as a sketchbook user not only did you have your pen ON THE ERASERS AS YOU WERE LOOKING FOR THEM 😭 but theres also an option to turn whatever brush youre currently using INTO an eraser brush using the brush settings at the very bottom of the screen (clicking the little circle lookin thing)
Medibang user here! You CAN actually change line art color in Medibang. You need to select the layer you want and hit the alpha lock option, and then you’ll only be able to draw where you have already drawn (and therefore color your line art). I’ve also used it since I was a beginner, and never had a problem with the interface. And that’s coming from someone who gets confused easily! Haven’t had trouble with canvas size either, but maybe I’m just used to using a less high definition canvas..? Anyway, hope this helps! :D
Another Medibang user here, did not know this and will try it next time I draw! How I color my line art was making another layer above the one I want to color, setting that new layer to clipping and coloring that layer with what color(s) I wanted. To downsize the number of layers I'd then combine the clipping layer with the below layer.
they did medibang dirty here its truly great. it used to have less intrusive ads but i pay for premium now so its not a problem for me. i dont like how they said they like how they can close the menus like the color wheel, then called it overcrowded, then called it underwhelming. contradicted themself twice in a row there. 😭 no hate just an observation that didnt sit right with me. still a great vid. 💚
@@Mooffomatic I use both the mobile and desktop version of Medibang and the desktop version has literally no ads. You don't have to pay for premium with the desktop other than if you want more cloud storage.
@Mooffomatic I also am a paid medibang user and it's truly worth it. Premium is really cheap and I am a low income artist, so it's extremely affordable for me and I truly love it. I draw on my phone with my finger regularly and I have not enjoyed any other art apps the way I have Medibang
As an adobe fresco user there are a couple things wrong with the app (unless im just blind 😢) I dont believe the app has any form of a symmetry tool, its kind of annoying when you wanna draw a front facing head and its lopsided when a symmetry tool can fix it easily Its smudge and blur tools are also kind of difficult to use and get used too, but its animation feature is actually pretty good just a bit difficult to use But overall the app is pretty professional and you did the app justice ✨ also in 16:58 you can create new brushes with a caveat, in which you cannot input new pictures and make them a brush but you can copy an already existing brush and alter it to your hearts content
ibis paint user here! If you want it to be less pixely press the button on the top right, left to the square, you should see something that says "Display when zoomed" and press smooth, it should make it less pixelated
As a procreate user, and as a person who has used procreate my entire life, it pains me to see her assuming everything is the same as procreate and that you can know everything about the app in under an hour lol.
As someone who used autodesk sketchbook for years, it pained me so much that you missed the eraser tool, it’s the icon with the white nib in the sidebar! 😭😭😭 (Ngl I don’t blame you for not finding it, it’s pretty subtle) (Also I am ashamed to say it, but it was Justin Bieber, my aunt still teases me to this day)
The eraser tool is obvious cause of how different it is from the other brushes I don't understand how she didn't see it. I knew what the eraser tool was when I was 7
I mean this with all the kindness in my heart, as someone who used sketchbook for years until switching to procreate, you scrolled right past the erasers. There are four different erasers and they’re even labeled in the drop-down! Justice for sketchbook.
Ok, I'm an ibis user, and I know you meant no harm and were nice about it, so I'll lecture you softly (at least as softly as a can) • THERE A DAMN TUTORIAL, IF YOU READ IT MAYBE YOU WOULD'VE FOUND THE SAVE BUTTON QUICKER. (Dw, I didn't use the tutorial either) • how else is ibis gonna get money if not everyone wants to pay for their subscription, they have to add ads • It takes a while to get used to, so that's why people like it. They're used to it.
Damn really? I was gonna watch the whole video to see her opinions on this but when I check the comments, they were all calling her out for using the app wrong
I use Ibis paint and also I'm not sure if you thought you had to watch an ad for each brush but you don't got to! You just got to watch one ad an get all brushes! Edit: damn 70 likes that's the most likes I've ever had- Edit 2: 445 LIKES THAT'S INSANE THAT'S THE MOST I'VE EVER HAD THANK YOU!
@@BlueCanaryNightLight and if you have a sim card that doesn't have an active internet subscription, turning off your wifi and turning on mobile data will let you use all the brushes without ads :D (it's only until you close the drawing you're working on but you can do it as many times as you want)
and if u turn on airplane mode, you dont have to watch an ad and you can keep on using all the brushes until you exit the canvas! that’s what i always do cuz i cant be bothered to watch a 30 second ad LOL.
I'll be honest, I'm both an Ibis Paint X AND Procreate person. But first I began as a sketchbook person, and when I felt ready to move on to something more advanced, I chose Ibis Paint X. Then Procreate. Now I just use both apps and my drawings come out very nicely. The smoothness on Procreate is 10/10 The extras and coloring in Ibis Paint X is 10/10 (plus it has more brushes.) I don't mind watching an ad to unlock brushes for 18 hours, I do it all the time, it's not that big of a deal Procreate has smoother features like the stabilization brushes (Ibis Paint X also has that, but procreate is just smoother.) You can save images faster on Ibis Paint X (by tapping the arrow in the right down corner) and it even gives you the options to save a transparent without having to remove the background (like procreate) In the end, I agree with you. Both apps have their pros and cons.
as a medibang purist, i'd like to point out some things. there actually IS a brush preview, its just under "brush settings". also, to change the lineart color, there is a way but you may to be shown to find it out, i'll admit. what you do is go to the layer with the lineart, select "protect alpha" and then draw where you want to change the color.
Also to add to it's cons, its interface is VERY different across different devices. I watched my friend with an android tablet open it and genuinely thought they opened a different app.
as a sketchbook user, please do your research before you rank something! The erases was RIGHT THERE and there are many more brushes, which you can customise as well. (might be different on an Ipad or MacBook then the Iphone I use it on, but still) and for the eraser lag….I never really noticed…..I usually don’t use the double tap/ single tap commands 😅
I am a medibang user (used to draw on Ibispaint but it's not free on windows so I started using Medibang). the line was pixeleted but it actually can be fixed. there are three types of layer on medibang one is like blank layer the other two are 8-bit and 1-bit layer. it is the 8-bit layer originally and if you draw on it or the 1-bit layer, the line is pieleted. in the blank layer it is smooth.
Sketchbook will always have a special place in my heart because i used it before i got procreate, and it was my first digital drawing app. Sketchbook, my beloved.
4:56 it might be really pixelated because you have it on Pixelated mode when you zoom in. You can change this by switching it to Smooth, it’s either that or it’s probably just the size of the canvas you’re drawing on
I have infinite painter. You can tap the little circle under the eraser tool and drag the circle that comes up out to change your brush size. Below that is the color, which you can drag out as an eyedropper, with opacity having a similar function beneath color. It's pretty great, and the premium is about the same price as procreate if I remember correctly.
Everything you’ve mentioned for ibis paint can easily be fixed by editing the brushes or using a different one, configuring the bucket tool and just learning how to layer properly and such 🥰
I am the Sketchbook user on my phone, and you have two options: 1. You have two eraser brushes in the brush list (under ink pen, two eraser icons: soft and hard) 2. You can select no color in the color wheel: simply tap on the icon, on the up left corner
10:32 That “weird color pallet” you’re talking about in the app Artbook those slots are actually used for picking a different brush and color, so you don’t forget which brushes or colors you used. Also If you wanted to change the color of the line you can click on the layer you drew the line art on and then you’ll see an “Alpha lock” option it’ll help you change the color real quick, just pick your color and scribble around the screen and when you’re done just click on the layer then alpha lock again. Hope this helps😭 If you’re confused lmk (I’m not really good at explaining things😭🙏🏽)
The eraser on the app sketchbook are the white looking markers with white ends, one is thinner than the other with texture while the other one is big and good for big areas, the most pointed white one is a smudge brush
Actually, as a sketchbook user, no it doesn't lag (at least not for me). There are actually a lot of eraser brushes in the brush library, and those of multiple textures. Edit: holy guacamole, this is more likes than all my vids and comments combined (except this one)
i personally feel like her rating to sketchbook was unfair, its actually an amazing art program, and i would rate it like an 8. not as good as ibis or adobe tho
Quick correction as someone who uses sketchbook: if you tap the icon on the top of the brush bar (the one that displays your current brush) you get a MUCH larger menu, where you can also find two different erasers. Its in the "basic brushes" category or something similar.
hello there an ibis user here welp i have some things to say FIRSTLY IT LAGS THAT BAD ONLY ON SOME DEVICES SECONDLY THERE IS A LITERAL TUTORIAL ON HOW TO USE THE WHOLE APP THIRDLY JUTST TAP FOR EXAMPLE 3 TIMES WHEN USING BUCKET TOOL AND ITS GONNA LOOK GOOD FOURTHLY ON THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN YOU CAN ACCUALY CHANGE OPACITY AND THICKNESS AND THE ONLY THING THATS SOMETIMES HARD FOR BEGGINERS ABT IT IS WHEN YOU WANT TO MAKE A CUSTOMIZED PEN thank you for reading this have a good day :3 edit: oh my fucking god over 300 likes?!?!?! wtf thanks yaall :)
Ibis paint to me is kinda like Java to many programmers. Java isnt necessarily the BEST, but its WIDELY used because its convenient and stuff. Even though the free version of IBIS paint isnt the greatest, It has every single base feature I would want AND I can export TRANSPARENT PNGS. its already awesome.
Just so you know, the little circle underneath of the eraser on Artbook is how you change the color, and the number underneath your layering tool is how large your brush is
you can also hit online in the brushes to find more brushes people made by searching for the brushes you want to see if someone made one for it. you then click on the brush and find the install button to have it install onto the app itself without having to add it. if you accidently install the same brush twice it will only keep one of the two instead of having two of the same exact brush. works for free assests too like poses and stuff people made for it which are free assests.
THANK YOU! I don't think too many apps do that...plus it had animation, and automatically saves your art, if you go off the app to do something else. But honestly, I should've known better: If the app has the word "Adobe" in the title, it almost always crushes the competition.
for 5:14, you can adjust the paint bucket setting by tapping on the gear button then adjusting the expansion! as for the pen pressure, you can go into settings (arrow pointing left in lower right corner, settings) then go down to pressure sensitivity and then you can adjust that!
Personally my ibis paint lags so bad when i make bigger canvas and the device i use isnt in a bad quality to lag that much... i wish they fixed the lag i really like ibis :')
this is a great video but i think you should've done more research on how to use the apps and spent some time experimenting with the tools before doing the final drawings. As someone who tried most of these with a pencil and even a finger when I couldn't afford a pencil and procreate, I find these reviews extremely lacking. or maybe you just don't have enough skill set to get better work on different apps. nevertheless, cool idea! would love to see an updated version sometime in the future.
no seriously. i was yelling so loud seeing them fumbling the apps for the most basic things 😐 the eraser in sketchbook is literally so easy to see, i'm surprised they didn't notice it considering they seem to care more about interface than actual drawing experience because how the actual hell does ART STUDIO an app that literally DELETES UR DRAWING if u exit the app get rated higher than medibang paint (which just has a slightly crowded interface)?????? 😭😭
Ok as a ibs paint artist I understand that pixelated and the bucket isn't that great but that eye that you made in ibs paint is better then I could EVER do
18:54 if you press the white dot near the colour picker it will open up a small menu to change the brush size,so you don’t have to go into the brush settings
As a sketchbook user a few things to note, The eraser brush looks like an actual block eraser as the icon. it was actually shown when you were scrolling for it. The premium 2.99 is a new update feature that allows us to create our own unique brushes, added a few cool blending modes like alpha masking, and gave us advanced color tools which is very helpful. Premium is a 1 time purchase and its defiantly worth it especially for how cheap it costs. I actually don't know why you are experiencing lag? Ive used the app for 3years bc I'm poor af lol, I personally only experienced lag once and that was bc of my tablet needing a major update not the app itself. I agree with the text function being a con as it is limiting in its abilities. You cant copy paste fonts into the app and as of rn you cant add any fonts to the app. The layers arent horribly limited while it is true we don't have clipping mask we do have a tone of other blending modes to mess with.
you actually can add fonts to the app! You just need to add the font to your actual ipad (by downloading text files onto your device) and it automatically appears in the font selection (still in alphabetical order). Justice for sketchbook…
@@kudakoki yoooo I didn't know that!! I've been putting it into the actual apps file and it never worked I didn't think about downloading it to my iPad directly :] Thank you for the info and yes Justice for Sketchbook!
It was a cool idea on paper but its not very useful for comparisons. Id do whatever the hell she did in this video alongside like, a sketch of a hand so that you can compare at the end.
Veteran medibang user here U can change colors of what u made on that layer at the settings of the layer using "hue" Or if the color is really specific u can use clipping mask And desktop app has more functions ✨
Hey! Ibis user, this is just a small tip, the bucket tool should have a small settings button where you can 100% edit the bucket tool and control your issue with how it fills! Hope this Helps
As medibang main: I honestly love it mostly because of its functionality, but I can't deny that for first-time users it can be hard to find it. It works both on desktop and mobile, so developers use mobile version as extension of desktop and therefore its functionality is often obstructed by menus as opposite to most popular app's approach of "hold and drop". Like, if you want to change color then you have to find hue-color changing menu and eyeball it from there, or mask your lineart layer and bucket persise color on top of it (especially if your chosen color was originally black: hues menu doesn't like it). In short, I like it because I'm in my late 20-s and procreate looks too weird (also I'm not dropping money I don't have on apple for the sake of single app).
i hate how alot of drawing apps hide away every tool from you and its part of the rzn i use medibang, procreate making it even more of a trend bc it looks more aesthetic upset me alot its more confusing like that to me and feels simulated than having it all out idk
to be honest i prefer the pc version of medibang, the more i used it, the more i got better at using it. Most of the things she was talking about for the cons in the video were things were were, indeed, in medibang ( the smudge brush is literally just liquify) and there weren't ads at all (atleast in the pc version). Also medibang doesnt hide the tools from you, it seemed to be really easy to use and understand lol
@@Sora_336 unfortunately now there are ads in mobile version, especially when you're saving your project. That was pretty nasty surprise, but I guess they still have to feed medibang team and ads are not as invasive so I'm fine with them until I forget they exist. About hiding tools - you kinda underestimate new user overwhelment and the fact that some stuff really is unintuitive. For example, how you rotate canvas for real for real and not just temporarily or warp layer. I can't tell you without looking because they are behind small unclear icons and every time I want to rotate canvas (for real) I have to go through a couple of options thinking what could it be and, as opposite to something like change of chosen color, it's objectively not a good sign for app design.
What I've found is you can do to change the color of linart (if it's on its own layer) is change the layre to 8 bit then edit the layre color then you can change it back to a color layer
Hi! as a sketchbook user, the quick shortcut for undoing is laggy - however, the actual button usually has little to no lag. there are two erasers in the basic (default) set; you can find them as the 9th and 10th brushes on the basic set - they are also right next to the Smudge brush. You can also set brushes to layer modes, and that includes some other options like erasers. Options like smudge, glow, linear burn, multiply, etc are available. I will say, though, that some really nice features are locked to the Premium bundle (additional 2 layer modes, layer grouping, brush import and exporting, and more), and that is a flaw. I'd guess that the main reason is probably because an independent company bought Sketchbook from Autodesk, and a team that is not as big is currently developing the app (+ the desktop version)
Hi, I use Medibang and just wanted to say a couple things if you don't mind. If you dislike the ads you can turn off your internet and everything works the same, except the text and library which aren't used all the time anyways. Line art can be recolored if you make a new layer overtop of your current one, and then there's an option for that layer on top to only color the layer under it, and that will recolor line art, or you could also use the fill tool on it but it fills it in completely if you do the layer thing. For the previews of the brushes, you'd need to go into the library area for bushes where you can find hundreds of more brushes, like 30% of them are premium only though, but still all of them are previewable in the library, just not the regular selection area. The final thing I have to say about the app is that the layer limit is only 300, and that gets annoying sometimes, and the app uses pixels for every brush (like if you set a brush size to one it literally draws a single pixel, so that's maybe why it seems pixely, and because it can zoom so much). Anyways, great video!!! loved the final art piece btw!!
I agree. I have been using medibang for a long time. The interface was giving the desktop version and there are so many features she missed like the brush preview and the alpha lock for layers. Oh well. I suppose for everyone their preferred app to them is the best and everyone will defend it religiously 😂. Also medibang is mostly made for making mangas and comics.
As probably the only Infinite Paint user here, you can quickly adjust the size and opacity of brushes by dragging up or down the opacity or size buttons without having to go in and move the slider itself
Most apps don’t let you drag the color to fill things in or change the line art color. For example on ibisPaint I make a new layer, set it to clipping, and then I color over the line art.
You can also turn on alpha lock (next to the clipping option) for the line art layer and then you'll only be able to colour in the lineart no extra layers necessary :)
I feel like none of the apps very really properly explored, leading to A LOT of frustration watching this video. It was painful. I won't say too much about it due to the fact that you only used the app for a little while to draw each part of the face, but I wish the apps could've been explored better.
For Sketchbook, the Eraser tools are the ones that look like white plastic erasers. There is no general "Erase" tool as every tool can be set to be an Eraser if you tinker with the brush settings
1:13 Girl 😭 It’s literally right there- It’s the one under the smudge brush 🥲🙏 Also you can go into the full brush library and find “Hard eraser” and that one isn’t light 😅
The eraser on sketchbook is in the brush library, which is located in the drawing toolbar on the left side of the screen. (if you still can't find it) I use it.
I think the general problem here is (to me, yes I have an opinion) to fully understand an app is to use it for more than two minutes. To put it simply, she berates the app and cannot find the simple solutions to problems like "Oh, I can't find the eraser 😢" and just. Use. The. Tutorial. Sorry for coming off so rude, but sometimes tutorials explain things better than eyeballing each feature. Also, does "Create Mask" not seem similar to "Clipping Mask"?? On the iArtbook one, she says there's no clipping mask. There's a clipping mask right under Alpha Lock??? What else would "Create Mask" be? HSB? _Sobs in iArtbook user, Autodesk Sketchbook user and Ibis Paint user_
I guess the app version of Medibang doesnt show brushes or she never turned on the brush preview in *view*. The application for PC does it. She can also color lines via clipping. There is also a transform if she looked at Edit. I feel like any artist should alwasy get a quick look at Toolbars to check their functions for any application. (to add, the opening window of Medibang asks you what size you want your canvas.)
HiPaint user here! All the cons that were listed are actually available in the program. If you press the '+' on the top bar (right next to save) there are extra tools like symmetry, gradients, 3D objects and more! Also you can change the liquidfy/warp tool size, idk why you couldn't do it in the video. Edit: Some of my comments aren't showing up for some reason, but there are also perspective tools under the same '+' button. HiPaint isn't perfect but it does have a good amount of tools to use.
@@ln7594 i don't know why my comment keeps getting deleted, but yes there are perspective tools. Under thay same '+' button there is an auxiliary line tool that has grid lines and the 3 points of perspective.
For sketchbook you can make any brush an eraser by changing its settings. It’s in the advanced section of where you change the size and opacity of the brush.
Yeah medibang user here and have been using it for a long time. Here's a few tips for some opinions stated in this video: 1. You can change the color of line art and any layer using the protect alpha tool (click on the layer u want it with and click on the protect alpha) 2. The pixelation honestly doesn't even matter, every time I export my pictures they look pretty hi-res ( usually use either default square or the device size ) 3. And honestly the ads don't even matter, they last like 5 seconds. Plus there is a screen recording option on there as well (click the three line menu)
I didnt even know medibang had ads, and i agree the pixelization is just bs, it's actually helpful for me ngl, and my paintings always come out clean anyway.
For the Sketchbook app, if you want the eraser tool, I always make my brush transparent. It literally works like an eraser. Since you can do this with any brush, it feels really convenient
The eraser IS real on sketchbook! You just have to find the brush with the white tip and that usually is the eraser /ps if you can’t find it try using every brush
As an artist who uses Medibang Paint on mobile, It is better in every way compared to that version of medibang. They used to not have canvas ads, and only show an ad every few times you save, but a couple months ago they added canvas ads which lags out the program a lot, and causes tons of crashes. I still use it because it's just what I'm used to tho
5:16 a tip for people who plan to use ibis paint, you can actually edit the strength of the bucket tool and it’s expansion rate by simply tapping on the bucket then tapping the settings logo on the bottom right corner :)
For ibis Its not slow it just gives you that warning, it only gets slow when you use too many layers on a big canvas or a big brush size, the paint bucket has settings If you select it and then select where the brush selection usually is, pen pressure is adjustable brush by brush and altogether in settings
Dude I’m so sorry about Medibang- That was my main drawing app for years until I switched to the PC version. And you can change the line art color with the Alpha Lock!
As one who wants to learn more drawing apps other than MS Paint (I don't have a tablet but I hope to get one in the near future), I'm glad I found this video. It was really funny and entertaining while giving me some good answers at the same time!
If you didn’t notice ibisPaint does have an animation feature when you choose the shape of what kind of picture you’re drawing there’s also animations you can’t just click a button while drawing
As somebody that used to have Art Set, it definitely does let you alter things like brush sizes! Top left in the menu at 20:41 it says "size 10%", you drag that wheel to the right to increase it (and left to decrease).
1:13 used this app for years, practically learned to draw on it. eraser brushes are literally right there lol. the one directly under your pencil here is the blender tool, but then the two right under that are the erasers. one is textured one is not. i’m surprised you didn’t find them, they’re literally exactly where they would be on any other app, with the . other brushes ??? and their icons look plenty like erasers to me ? am i the only person who always messes around with the default brushes, like draws a squiggle or two with each one, whenever i open a new unfamiliar program ? i’m forreal shocked
I’m an ibisPaint user and there is a way to make animations on the app, paint bucket can be replaced by going to special and using lasso fill. And the pen pressure one, idk.
how to change your line art colour: turn the alpha lock on. get a big brush in the colour you want to change it to and brush it all over your lines. tada your line art has changed colour 👏
I've been using medibang for 7 years now and it's still my favorite apps to use, you can actually add more brush to it there are like thousands of custom brushes on the brush settings that you can use, and you can adjust the sensitivity of your brush strokes, the app is not beginner friendly cause of the confusing interface however after days of using the app you'll get used to it, and the greatest way to block the ads when using the app is by turning airplane mode or just simply turning the wifi off really hope this help
Not me yelling at the screen THE ERASER IS RIGHT THERE Also i dont think sketchbook was given a fair review because Sketchbook has just as much as ibispaint especally the blur and smuge and stuff like that. Also the lag was your device/operating system because it has never lagged for me. (Desktop version (which is payed for) Is like 1000% better))
I used sketchbook for so long and it look me an embarrassing amount of time to find the eraser😭 They have it set up with the other brushes on the sidebar and they have two different ones, but nothing tells you they’re erasers. I had to go through every brush to find it!!!
i use artbook and I can confirm there is a clipping mask! it was just labeled “create mask” :) not sure what the “weird color swatches” are for, but typically I’ve never touched any of those besides the one on the very far right (im p sure that’s supposed to be the default). also also, the drag and drop color thingy isn’t the only way to fill in color, as there is a bucket tool
I was kind of expecting Krita to be in this video at least :,) In my opinion it's a really free drawing app, with no adverts, great brushes that you can also create your own brushes with, you can export your drawings as PNG, make animations, has an easy to find eraser and has unlimited layers. The programme does not have a premium version and has many other great features. The only downside I have with the programme is that the interface is quite complicated when you first open it, but it gets easier when you open the file you start drawing in. Also, the strokes you can make with the brushes are a bit pixelated, but that's probably because I'm drawing at 1000 x 750 pixels. (I don't know if that's a lot or not) But for science, I tried opening a 10000 x 75000 px file and it took forever to open. But it worked and the brushes were super smooth. But I don't recommend opening a file that large. My entire screen froze for about 5 minutes and the programme started to ‘hang’. I still recommend the programme because I personally never draw larger than 1000 x 750 pixels and the programme runs very smoothly at that size. It also has many layer options that I don't quite understand yet, but there are many tutorials for this programme. And it doesn't cheat you at all. On the home screen it shows you the last files you used, even if you forgot to save them. It even saved a drawing that I forgot to save when I switched off my PC. And although I think it's better suited for drawing pads connected to a PC, it also works on tablets or is at least compatible with macOS and Linux.
Ty, this app genuinely feels like a simpler Photoshop, and if you expert you will even like the interface at somw point bc its that helpful (i agree it looks complicated tho) will be always my fav app
@@seagullsatelit350 i may be the only mf that cares about particle brush engines in my drawing apps, but Krita's is pretty gud it could be better, but atleast it's there
Sketchbook erasers fun fact: They are everywhere. Most brush sets have their own, some 2 and there are 3 allrounders. They erase so well and blend so beautifully that you can hardly see them.
SAME it doesnt lag for me either (except, when i tried to drag the text around, it wasnt laggy as such but more as if it was just visually moving at like 10fps- but it didn't get stuck or anything)
true, krita is also better on pc, i might just have to bring out my drawing tablet again that connects to my computer, unless you know a miracast i can use to cast my pc screen on my tablet
At 1:12 the eraser in sketchbook is actually along with the brushes. Its the one that has white head so u basically have soft and hard eraser for some reason but anyways great video :D (its with the legacy brushes i think but im not sure 😅)
@jumokeowati4175 I mean this in a very nice way, I'm British, sounding nice is a genuine effort and I'm not very good at it. But how?? If you don't see an icon for it at the top how down you see it where the brushed are, They even have a whole section for the erasers in the brush selection she showed
There are also some glitches for Ibis paint if you live in another country you could get this glitch where it says ad unavailable and gives brushes for free and could get a time that wasn't actually taken that long it's really funny to see people be really surprised of how long you took Ibis has an unlimited layer limit and you can edit other brushes how you want!the transform tool really helps and my favorite part is the middle one.its really REALLY fun I use almost everything for all of this hope this helps!

Thank you your such a nice person ❤️
Idk if I am using it wrong, but after I adjusted the Ibis filler, it either get bigger than the line or smaller, can never find the right one
Don't worry, I'm pretty sure every lbis user did the exact same thing!

It was really irritating to watch this
@@coquette_snail when she mentioned that zooming in still looks pixel-y i think she toggled that on in her procreate app bc ibispaint also have antialiasing viewing

As an adobe fresco user there are a couple things wrong with the app (unless im just blind 😢)
I dont believe the app has any form of a symmetry tool, its kind of annoying when you wanna draw a front facing head and its lopsided when a symmetry tool can fix it easily
Its smudge and blur tools are also kind of difficult to use and get used too, but its animation feature is actually pretty good just a bit difficult to use
But overall the app is pretty professional and you did the app justice ✨ also in 16:58 you can create new brushes with a caveat, in which you cannot input new pictures and make them a brush but you can copy an already existing brush and alter it to your hearts content

Fun fact: you only need to watch one ad to unlock all of the brushes
you can also hit online in the brushes to find more brushes people made by searching for the brushes you want to see if someone made one for it. you then click on the brush and find the install button to have it install onto the app itself without having to add it. if you accidently install the same brush twice it will only keep one of the two instead of having two of the same exact brush. works for free assests too like poses and stuff people made for it which are free assests.

None of the apps were so no worries there :D

girl the lag for ibis isn’t bad at all even tho they warn you 😭 i use 5K x 5K on my cracked old phone and it doesn’t lag
Yep 😭😭😭😭🤚🤚🤚
Personally my ibis paint lags so bad when i make bigger canvas and the device i use isnt in a bad quality to lag that much... i wish they fixed the lag i really like ibis :')
It does lag for me, but it's more because of the amount of layers and not the size of the canvas
@@Alexia_Hyena Yess
Yep and every software slows down on bigger canvases they just don't tell you
this is a great video but i think you should've done more research on how to use the apps and spent some time experimenting with the tools before doing the final drawings. As someone who tried most of these with a pencil and even a finger when I couldn't afford a pencil and procreate, I find these reviews extremely lacking. or maybe you just don't have enough skill set to get better work on different apps. nevertheless, cool idea! would love to see an updated version sometime in the future.
i completely agree
Agreed.
no seriously. i was yelling so loud seeing them fumbling the apps for the most basic things 😐 the eraser in sketchbook is literally so easy to see, i'm surprised they didn't notice it considering they seem to care more about interface than actual drawing experience because how the actual hell does ART STUDIO an app that literally DELETES UR DRAWING if u exit the app get rated higher than medibang paint (which just has a slightly crowded interface)?????? 😭😭
agreed it pained me to see her just try it for a few seconds and thinking it doesn't have any more features when it does....
agreed
Ok as a ibs paint artist I understand that pixelated and the bucket isn't that great but that eye that you made in ibs paint is better then I could EVER do
You can actually adjust the bucket so it would cover all the white parts it missed!
I just found it out
@@bluelily2800And you can change it so it erases it instead of color (found that out a bit ago)
if you have pixelation in ibis just increase the dpi
300 dpi is best for a4
18:54 if you press the white dot near the colour picker it will open up a small menu to change the brush size,so you don’t have to go into the brush settings
As a sketchbook user a few things to note,
The eraser brush looks like an actual block eraser as the icon. it was actually shown when you were scrolling for it.
I've been putting it into the actual apps file and it never worked I didn't think about downloading it to my iPad directly :]

Fr, like wouldn’t it be smarter to draw the same thing on each app to compare them?
It was a cool idea on paper but its not very useful for comparisons. Id do whatever the hell she did in this video alongside like, a sketch of a hand so that you can compare at the end.
definitely coulda used a control group to compare everything to
Veteran medibang user here
U can change colors of what u made on that layer at the settings of the layer using "hue"
Or if the color is really specific u can use clipping mask
And desktop app has more functions ✨
You can also alpha lock a layer and color over the outline that way. That's what I do
@@2hr1ne you can do that too in ibispaint
@@MxBowtie you can also just do "protect alpha" on the lineart layer, then color it in quickly with a big brush
Hi! as a sketchbook user, the quick shortcut for undoing is laggy - however, the actual button usually has little to no lag.
there are two erasers in the basic (default) set; you can find them as the 9th and 10th brushes on the basic set - they are also right next to the Smudge brush.
I ALSO USE MEDIBANG1!1!1!!1
300 is low??? my poor old ipad can only handle 12 layers on Procreate, i need better stuff i guess...
@@kebappkethis might be completely off topic but my iPad can’t even handle toca life world😭🙏
@@laurenmain9506 now thats just sad
It took me an embarrasingly long time to figure out you could do that
You can also turn on alpha lock (next to the clipping option) for the line art layer and then you'll only be able to colour in the lineart no extra layers necessary :)
Or just use the change color fx.
Thanks I’ve been having issues it lol
I feel like none of the apps very really properly explored, leading to A LOT of frustration watching this video. It was painful. I won't say too much about it due to the fact that you only used the app for a little while to draw each part of the face, but I wish the apps could've been explored better.
For Sketchbook, the Eraser tools are the ones that look like white plastic erasers. There is no general "Erase" tool as every tool can be set to be an Eraser if you tinker with the brush settings
1:13
Girl 😭 It’s literally right there-
It’s the one under the smudge brush 🥲🙏
Also you can go into the full brush library and find “Hard eraser” and that one isn’t light 😅
Fr and the as an iArtbook user and IbisPaint user YES THE CLIPPING MASK EXISTS
i used it at school and i found the eraser right away now im on my home chromebook and i use the same thing and know all the features
majorly agree -- she didn't even scroll on the top bar for FreeForm where there are like calligraphy pens and more tools like lasso tool
Is there a tool that helps with perspective drawings?? Thinking about trying hipaint
@@ln7594 there is! Under that same '+' button there is an auxiliary line tool that gives you grid lines and the 3 different points of perspective.
@@ln7594there is! Under that same '+' button there is an auxiliary line tool that provides grid lines and the 3 points of perspective.

For sketchbook you can make any brush an eraser by changing its settings. It’s in the advanced section of where you change the size and opacity of the brush.
Yeah medibang user here and have been using it for a long time. Here's a few tips for some opinions stated in this video:
1. You can change the color of line art and any layer using the protect alpha tool (click on the layer u want it with and click on the protect alpha)
2. The pixelation honestly doesn't even matter, every time I export my pictures they look pretty hi-res ( usually use either default square or the device size )
3. And honestly the ads don't even matter, they last like 5 seconds. Plus there is a screen recording option on there as well (click the three line menu)
I use medi bang and don't have adds, idk why. Only on mobile but I usually use it on my computer. I've never paid for it.
I didnt even know medibang had ads, and i agree the pixelization is just bs, it's actually helpful for me ngl, and my paintings always come out clean anyway.
How do you do that? Mine always come out pixelated, no matter how big I make the canvas...
For the Sketchbook app, if you want the eraser tool, I always make my brush transparent. It literally works like an eraser. Since you can do this with any brush, it feels really convenient
This is what I do when drawing quick nonsense on my phone- it's easy and simple and SKETCHBOOK DESERVES A HIGHER RATING
The eraser IS real on sketchbook!
You just have to find the brush with the white tip and that usually is the eraser
/ps if you can’t find it try using every brush
As an artist who uses Medibang Paint on mobile, It is better in every way compared to that version of medibang.
They used to not have canvas ads, and only show an ad every few times you save, but a couple months ago they added canvas ads which lags out the program a lot, and causes tons of crashes. I still use it because it's just what I'm used to tho
I also use Medibang on Mobile, and I don't have canvas ads. I hope I don't get them 😢
I have it on my tablet, and I just turn off my wifi to not get ads.
I have been using this program for more than 5 years 🗿
I love Medibang very much, but the computer version is superior to me entirely. I don't have adds on the computer version, only on mobile.
Just turn off wifi though honestly that probably makes ads worse for the whole
I don't know any of the people you drew, but this was super helpful. Thank you.

And the pen pressure one, idk.
how to change your line art colour: turn the alpha lock on. get a big brush in the colour you want to change it to and brush it all over your lines. tada your line art has changed colour 👏
you can also use fx, there is a colour change thingy in it! :3
I've been using medibang for 7 years now and it's still my favorite apps to use, you can actually add more brush to it there are like thousands of custom brushes on the brush settings that you can use, and you can adjust the sensitivity of your brush strokes, the app is not beginner friendly cause of the confusing interface however after days of using the app you'll get used to it, and the greatest way to block the ads when using the app is by turning airplane mode or just simply turning the wifi off
really hope this help

THANK YOU, EXACTLYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ty, this app genuinely feels like a simpler Photoshop, and if you expert you will even like the interface at somw point bc its that helpful (i agree it looks complicated tho) will be always my fav app

You can turn a brush into an eraser using the colour tool.
