You forgot to mention the hard rule that any and all nanocyte PC's are required by law to only be Senator Armstrong meme Characters and can only communicate verbally with the phrases "Nanomachines son." and "200% MAD" until the other players actually stab you IRL.
Defensive Dispersal gains a +1 bonus the first time it is used against any given effect, not the first time in a day; so it could occur several times in a given day, as long as you are able to use the ability.
Nice Overview! :) Longarm is just obligatory for this Class... how else are they supposed to use a Nanite Thrower Longarm? ;p I joined a (currently level 13) Campaign as a Nanocyte with Battle Medic Theme and Medic Archetype, picking Regeneration as Primary and Redirection as Secondary Faculty. At maxed Constitution and the Knacks Surgical Host, Versatile Nanites (to get the Medicine bonus from Secondary Sheath Array), Thousand Stitches and Instant Architect aswell as the Feats for Improved Combat maneuver Bull Rush and Tripping Rush to have the Cloud Array as Primary, share my Stamina with my Allies and instead of dealing damage Bull Rush (using Particle Push) enemies into Walls and stuff remotely to knock them prone and if no Walls are present, just build a Barricade with Instant Architect in the Cloud first to push them into that so my Melee Allies. (and either denying the enemies a Full Attack or giving them a -4 to their Melee Strikes as long as they stay prone) Being able to 'Manifest' a Medical Lab (from Surgical Host Knack) within just 1 Move Action instead of taking 10 Minutes to set up an Advanced Medkit to Tread Deadly Wounds (and a massively boosted one at that) a second time in a Day! Some comments on what you said though: As long as ones Arrays haven't been Destroyed/Hindered in returning to oneself, one can command ones nanites to 'manifest' as a different Array Form as a Move Action all day long. Nanite Surges only required to do it as a Swift Action (or other bonus Effects). And only if an Array (Primary/Secondary/Tertiary) is too far away or physically blocked from returning to the Nanocyte, they then need to Spend a Resolve and Full Action to Reform that Array (Primary/Secondary/Tertiary). That's as far as I can see the only daily limitation on usage of Arrays. So I disagree on the 'like Spellslots' comment, but that's subjective. Not so subjective though: The Sheath Arrays Temp HP and the Cloud Arrays Miss Chance are not always Active, but only when using a Nanite Surge when 'manifesting' the Array. The Defensive Dispersal's +1 is applied to the first Saving Throw against an affect caused by the damage dealing Stuff you reactively used it against (so once per usage of this ability), NOT just a +1 for the first time each Day to damage reduction.
A fun warp to this that I'm playing in A Rag Tag Group Of Space Holes is a PC who wants to be a hologram nanocyte. So she's not a hologram but actually a nanite swarm that takes the form of a little scrunkly ass cartoon lion that looks like Jhonen Vazques had a field day at a zoo.
Created a nanocyte and ran them through some solo mock combats for the playtest. Surprisingly tanky at level five though granted I made her fight a CR 3 opponent alone. Looks like most of the specializations survived the playtest. Discorporation feels like it would be extremely broken or completely useless in most of those railroady adventure paths, gaining somewhat more use in a more open campaign. Regen is a lovely support power while the other three just didn't interest me. Although yeah they're all great for making the nanocyte into a pure combat monster if that's your thing... Not entirely sure I would call it OP but yeah it was a beast.
I've always wondered if Level 20 abilities should instead be given at Level 19. Although I haven't played much TTRPGs over the last few years, when I was active, no campaign I was ever in got above 15th level. Level 20 abilities seem like a "One Use Before Campaign Ends" power (kind of like that super sword strike Cloud Strife got in Final Fantasy 7 ^_^). Giving the abilities at 19th level instead allows players who are lucky enough to get to that level more chances to use them before the end of the campaign.
Am I the only one dissapointed that the Nanocyte sheath array isn't the person being covered with a full body array? Like a chrome body glove or something.
I'm losing my mind is a nano array a nanite surge? because what in using just says "are explained in the abilities below." and cannot for the life of me understand if its saying the array is a surge.
This whole time I’ve been trying to figure out a Nanocyte build to make any of the main characters from Crysis. There’s definitely some overlap, but it’s not perfect.
@@TheMapleTable The main characters have a nano-suit that eventually replaces huge parts of their body, turning them into a living nanite colony and eventually pretty unkillable. No, they didn't know anything about Starfinder until I came to them... And no, the Nanocyte player decided to NOT take the Absorption subclass in the new Galactic Magic book... Well, I blame you for the fact I got that book and saw this class. I may ban this class from ever being played................though I'd use it as a major villain. MAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! No, seriously in the hands of someone who is stupidly creative and not some Power Gamer. This class would be broken.
I love this entire response thread. That being said, I totally understand Qardo even though I don't really agree. I feel similar about the Witchwarper, as that whole class seems to entirely revolve around being a total dick.
Nanobots, the future version of "a wizard did it". I do love that Starfinder can be whatever future setting you want.

If you always wanted a versatile character Nanocyte is the way to go. The possibilities truly seem to be infinite. Can't wait to try playing one!
Im pretty excited to see what people come up with and what some GMs have to say about the class.

Me, explaining this class to a friend:
"NANOMACHINES, SON!"
It just hit me that this is generator Rex
The Spathinae race with this class
Its in AA3 its a sapient swarm
Im going to have to see how these two combinations work
also excited to see this :)

I find some of the lvl 20 abilities rock, mystics get a version of wish basically. Other classes though don't get much of anything at lvl 20.
Android is the perfect race definitely for this class. Me personally, endrogenous cyborg.
thats the perfect android aesthetic.

Sci-fi Swarm-That-Walks? Yes please!
grey goo nanobots are scary when they form there own bodies in goo when they eat things in the universe
Shameless plug? Genius plug!!!
Make a melee fighter named armstrong, with high constitution, strength and charisma. Mid fight just shout 'NANO MACHINES SON!'
Man, I’d sure love to like and subscribe, but I’m only a level 2 nanocyte 😢

Ill be honest, i have not played Crysis

Hi there!

With the bodyguard feat at level 1, he's essentially a wall for the +4 dex Goblin Operative with the Scurry feat... No, they didn't talk about this before hand... I wouldn't go that far to ban it, but it would make a great villain too.
