Dead, dead, and very dead, if it hits. Unless your powered armor is Battletech battlearmor scale, you're dead, upon taking anti vehicle fire. Of course, those are antipersonal weapons, so most powered armor is probably proof against that.
So it's basically starship mechanics for on foot battles at a bigger scale. I gotta get some mechs in my campaign, this sounds like it makes combat absolutely bonkers! My only wish now is for Galactic Magic to bring rules in for spellcasters being able to cast starship scale spells and by that logic mech scale spells. Let's turn magic missile into Magic Intercontinental Ballistic Cruise Missile!
I haven’t read to much about the mech stuff… is it intended to be mech vs mech like ship combat or can they be used as a boss battle for players on foot?
Now a question I have is do your operators have the same initiative as your mech or is it different meaning there's a possibility for your mech to never get to use that standard action because your operator is below the mech
@@TheMapleTable what I'm trying to say is when you make up the initiative list when you roll for that are operators of the mech always above the mech so it can properly provide actions or does the mech itself not have a place in the order so each person can operate separately per round? If I'm making sense
I've been waiting for this to hit AoN. The different scales means I can make a Voltronesque gargantuan combiner bot "made of" the parties smaller mechs. WE NEED MEGAZORD POWER NOW!! And I'm here for it. As far as the repairs go.. I'm going the "We got a guy for that" option. An affiliated mechanic of some sort, whose shop they could leave mechs at for awhile. Maybe a faction sponsor or something.
I really think i won't ever find a plausible excuse to throw in mechas on my game, but if i see an opportunity, i'm damn sure i'll put the party into a robot and make them scream about drilling holes into the sky with manlyness and bravado while punching another machine's face. The only situation i can think when they can use such tech would be something like an excavation mecha or just some ancient military technology in the hands of an organization that doesn't have the resources to repair it yet, something like Liberty Prime from Fallout or something.
@@TheMapleTable absolutely. I'm thinking about maybe some "ship vs mech" boss fight, like the party is driving this giant machine against a fleet of starfighters, taking them down with massive punches. Or maybe just the classic "let's punch this giant alien monster in the face", wich always works with 0 probability of not being cool.

I mean, even with Battletech mechs, you could slap ice spells on the heatsinks, and make double heatsinks out of standard ones, until you run into antimagic fields 😂
If you really want to you could use the rules for Battletech since those are the best mech rules IMO. Plus then you have models/maps you can use as assets. One way to do this would be to take the crewmember rules and apply that to actions still. You can move and fire a weapon system but you need more crewmembers for more actions than that. This way people can have their own mech or have a few higher crewed ones for the benefits.
@@TheMapleTable The vehicle rules could be leveraged for this where it comes to ramming, where the targets can make a fairly easy Reflex save to completely avoid dmg. That's if the PCs want to risk falling dmg to their mech in the 1st place. :)

Yoooo Paizo themselves just recommended this video on my Facebook, you're going up in the world congratulations !!
Thanks for watching! Paizo has been happy with a few videos I have done around starfinder. They have a good team over there.
🎉 love it Nathan!!
"because you know a mech hijacking is going to happen in your game at some point"
^^ this is the kind of thing that gets me excited to play starfinder
Totally viable
Thankfully I have written the perfect place for a Mech battle to be slotted into my campaign. Just gotta hope my players take the bait and get it.
Good luck
Found your channel through a search for Starfinder Mech. The mech content is perfect. Great channel!
Welcome to the table
I do not understand the damage of mech weapons. What does it mean by: Low, Medium, or high damages in numbers on the dice?

This helps a lot. I dropped a modified cargo loader full of tweaked out Ysoki onto the end of a chase scene. It was fun.
So I have a question is there a damage difference between a mech vs nomal enemies like guard
No, damage is damage, but mechs can have a lot more firepower than your "average guard"
@@TheMapleTable thanks for the reminder

Im really hoping that galactic magic boosts spells and brings some weird and wonderful things to mech and ship combat
Magic Macross Missile Barrage
"OhThankYouYouveDoneTheRightThingMyTallestYouWontBeForgottenWhenIRuleTheUniverseThanksForThisAmazingBattleMech! BYYYE!!"
I hope it helps with your games
Finally. I can have an excuse to use Mechwarrior Mechs in my campaign!! Atlas Incoming!!!
I have Heavy Gear Minis myself
Prepare for Titanfall
I haven’t read to much about the mech stuff… is it intended to be mech vs mech like ship combat or can they be used as a boss battle for players on foot?
It would be really challenging for players on foot to fight a mech, it would be more for mech vs mech/giant beast Pacific Rim style
Now a question I have is do your operators have the same initiative as your mech or is it different meaning there's a possibility for your mech to never get to use that standard action because your operator is below the mech
It will be which ever is higher, pilot skill or mech tier i believe

Excellent! This really helps. I'm surely going to drop a mech into the AP I'm running, woohoo!!
Do it!

Yea thats how i have been running ship upgrades
@@TheMapleTable SO SAY WE ALL.
Love the content dude, would love to see some of your opinions on stuff to go alongside the raw rules :D
I'm honestly a rules light gm which is odd for system that is kinda crunchy
Me in my head when hijacking and piloting the mech rules gets mentioned......(Newtype Flash) "Let's see what this federation mobile suit can do"
Required sayings :p
Go Go Power Starfinders

Again a really educational video. Nice done. Love it. Still waiting for my copy of the book to arrive, then there will be mechs in space !!!
Oh god, zero g combat in mech suits...
Are the mechs more anime mechu or more like battle tech?
Good question but the beauty of the system here is that it can be either or.

Theirs mechs ? Well starfinder just has everything dosent it?
It really does
sorry man, i refuse to watch this video.
I refuse to learn that! i'll just homebrew it as i go

Can a Mech "slam"? Just drop a mech on your enemies or fall on them! lol
There isn't a specific rule set for it that i saw, but I would make something up.
