I like your style .Relaxed and steady.
Rushing and speed are a recepie for disaster on ladders and scaffolding. Thankyou. Nice clear instructions.
Thank you.
Great demonstration on working in those difficult areas. A perfect example of working safely and the ‘KISS’ principle.
Thank you, sorry for late reply.
Awesome. Just what I needed to see. I’ve stripped vinyl wall paper off recent, need to get the paper backing off, then put a texture on and then paint. This is all in a stairwell with at least 19 foot ceiling.
You make it look so easy!! Thanks so much!
That's spot on, as it's the same lay out as my house😂
I'm curious as to how you'd perform the same task above the stairs when it's a kite winder turn & the steps aren't squared to supporr the ladder. Do you have any tips/videos on that please?
I use the same set up except that I double up the scaffold board for long spans and also clamp the ends of the boards to the ladder with quick release clamps. It takes a couple of minutes more but I feel safer. Good video.
Yes, good scaffold although you shouldn't really have the board fixed in place it needs movement slightly. You just need to have no less than 12" overhang each end.
What's a good ladder to buy for DIY painting
Great tips and well explained, just what I needed!
Thanks.
Your a ledgend! I have a narrow passage way going upto the loft conversion and I just painted the walls and ceiling one colour because I couldn't do the cut ins. I couldn't reach the top of the walls. Il be using this method now. Nice one.
Ammo Bee Thanks your welcome.
Thank you very much I was wondering how the stairs walls had been painting and cutting.
Well explained thanks for taking the time to post.
Thanks your welcome.
Help my staircase is steep 20 steps up and leads to a hallway, not a wall when you arrive at the top story. Any ideas on what to do in this situation, when you don't have a supporting wall at the top of the stairs?
New to the trade and really enjoying your videos, could you also use a telescopic ladder for the tallest ladder used?
Welcome to painting and decorating it's a great trade. Hard work lots of satisfaction. A telescopic ladder would be good as long as it's a tough one. Thanks
Going to have to do this myself and it’s a very high stair well and not looking forward to it. I do have all the equipment so wish me luck…lol
OMG, thank you SO much! Seems so simple, once ya see it!
Buts it’s really not that simple 🤣 You didn’t see him actually apply any paint did you?
can I ask you for some advise please. .ime doin a customer a full stairs Hall landing ...all gloss work 10 doors ...banister ......2 Coates emulsion .. prep work...advise wouid be great full. .thanks .
Make sure you wear your bib and brace and keep your tools on you. Two buckets and two steps one for upstairs and one for down stairs. Roller that screws on the end of your poll. Small ladder may be a blank.
great video!
Thanks.
You really should double up the boards as they need to be supported every 1.3 meters, it does actually say it on the bands on each end of the boards.
Where about are you based please. I am after some work doing , I'm in Liverpool. Obviously when everything is back to normal x
Sorry no details, and unfortunately are customer base is now to large. But your local decorating center may be able to recommend a decorator. Thanks
Had to listen on high volume with surround sound but got it thanks
Is the wall you had the double ladder on solid or plasterboard?, if it’s plasterboard how would you set it up so you don’t pierce the board with the tops of the ladder!
Same way all the main pressure is going down. Thanks
what can I use on corned steps at the top of the stair I cant use two ladders plus plank
Sometimes you have to workout how to have your scaffold set up. But without seeing can not say. We sometimes use planks in an L shape. But be very careful. Best to get a decorator. Not worth an accident.
My used the same setup for painting and wallpapering.
Thank You!
Your welcome
Simple and useful.
Thanks.
Nice one mate 👍
Thanks
where the world be without a man, thanks
how much wouid you charge for for the work roughly thanks
Sorry no prices every job is different.
amazing and a little scary.
What material did you use, so it won’t mar the walls?
Most white cloths or old dust sheets are best. Thanks
the only thing is best to secure the board with rope to the ladder run extra security loved the video
You can if it makes you feel safer but as long as you have the correct overhang you should have no problems.
Might build me a fort up there
I’d add in a cleat on either side of the plank with screws. Avoids clamps getting in the way, and stops the plank from shifting left/right under body movement.
Also note: drop cloths under ladders can, in many instances be very dangerous, and may remove the grip you need to secure your ladder properly. Plan around them, stay safe, Cheers.
Your plank should not be fixed in place, that's dangerous. Never clamp. Or screw.
@@PaintingandDecorating nothing unsafe about it, cleats are not fastened to the ladder directly. And yes don’t use clamps at all.
How many feet is the plank your using mate? Thanks
7ft mate
Now how much would two ladders and a plank cost to decorate one stairwell? And how often would you use them
Well, that's why it's best to get a decorator. Job done to perfection and no broken neck plus no gear lying around for ten years before you paint again.
A very wise reply Sir.
Where do I purchase a plank from?
Builders merchants.
@@PaintingandDecorating Seen some on the Wickes website Code 145308
@@johnwantling Yes should be fine but best to remove metal ends, they can cause damage in a house.
Done that before have ye?
few times
You can you a 6-footer scaffold, set one side at highest at the bottom of the stairs and the other accordingly to level it up. Don't use the wheels for extra stability. I've been painting houses for 35 years.
6 foot ladder would not be sufficient for this application.
Felt sick watching this…guess I’ll be getting someone in to do it for me 😂
👍👍
The last time I papered a large staircase I used a trestle and a youngman board!
How come no one demonstrates fixing loose corner tapes and painting a very steep TURRET CEILING of a small turret room as in a Victorian style house?
too low in volume , shame because you look like you know your stuff
and have given some great tips
thanks
Thanks, will do better with the sound.
Come on just up the volume, not problem at all
looks like woodchip on the landing , a nightmare too get off great vid
hoodie scum Thanks, and yes woodchip on the walls and ceiling down stairs. That's another video to come stripping woodchip.
get a airless be off in a hour lol
No you can blow plaster out makes to much mess and you still have to wet to clean the paste wetting keeps dust down as well.
easy enough with a steamer
ok thanks
Health & safety. Fat boys like me need to double the planks up
Or double the pies down lol
RSJ for me!
The sound is a bit quiet.
😯😃👍🏽🙏🏻😃😄🌻
Four 4 inch C clamps and a 12 inch 2x4... Works well also..
never clamp the plank they bend and need movement.
hard to hear your explaination
Yes sorry about that we will be sorting out the sound.. thanks
I doubt you would get away with this working on site, a stairway scaffhold would be mucg safer
Any scaffolding is dangerous with no training or care. But once trained in the does and don'ts it's like any risk in life. Thanks
The only danger would be the possibility of the ladder on landing dropping over the top stair, the other ladder is going nowhere
WHAT???????? CAN"T HEAR YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!
James Lund sorry will have to sort out the sound.
One of those planks don't looks so good... And what's with the goofy music??
