    This is one thing DC/WB can do, unlike Marvel who's limited by Disney's family-friendly image: they can go into deep dives with their villains and, by extension, be able to cater to audiences that want to see movies like this. They can do more immersive what ifs? They can freely transition into R-rated material. I doubt Marvel will dare put out anything like this to the audiences. Even Deadpool is a tricky proposition for them.

      too bad thanos is part of marvel...would like to see his upbringing of how he became this evil villain and the slaughter he caused throughout the galaxy...i think fans want more villain movies...and there will be a harley quinn movie...so that will be good...but who will be the joker

      Dejan Rancic this is why the money is limited in rated R movies.

    • @dejanrancic7409
      @dejanrancic7409 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@sempersersum5802 It's not about profitability. It's about what you can and cannot do with a movie given its rating. Deep character explorations of villains are hamstrung when the screenwriters need to be mindful of younger audiences that parents will bring to see the movie. R rating is the one that offers total creative freedom. Take Rogue One, for example. It would've worked much better as an R rated movie, and you still had situations in it that were not appropriate for younger audiences, namely child Jyn having her mother killed in front of her and Cassian killing his informant - both very realistically done, but not PG-13 material. Then you had Logan, which was when the audiences got to see the true viciousness of the character, as opposed to the watered down PG-13 version. And then there is Deadpool. If you just want to cater to the widest audiences for the sake of the box office, then something of the story-craft is going to end up sacrificed in order to meet the lowest common denominator.

And it's true once they've committed terrible acts they are no longer safe or to be sympathised with , but the point is , perhaps a more compassionate understanding society could help avoid them being motivated in the first place.

What we have seen so far, is a mentally ill man losing his grip on reality thanks in part to the apathy & cruelty of the world. As Grace mentioned, if there is ever a Joker- like persona in our world, it would be because we created him.

    Joker was a masterpiece. It is by far the most beautiful film and interpretation i have ever seen. This movie captures the essense of how vague an actor can potray a role. Joaquin Phoenix is the right candidate for Joker and he gives a new definiton to the Joker's name. His performance was out of this world. I can relate to most of the problems that Arthur encountered and to top it, this portrayal really felt realistic. It feels genuine, original and heartfelt to the point that i was about to cry. Seriously, this is my favourite movie of all time and not to mention, the cinematography, my god it was beautiful. The colour pallette in this movie really sets you in the 80s and thats what i like. Overall, you cant compare Health's joker againts Joaquin's joker because they are both unique but performance wise, this movie takes the cake.

    -Grace
    Edit: Just got back from watching Joker. Grace is absolutely correct, Best movie of the Year. What I'm about to say is just my opinion. Joaquin Phoenix is the Best Joker, just passing Heath Ledger for me. To be fair, Phoenix had a whole movie to himself tho. This is exactly how I hoped a live action Joker would be portayed since I was a kid and watched Batman the animated series. Perfect Acting.

    LOVE your insights here Grace, from society, to mental health to Chapelle, very astute of the zeitgeist.
    You and I are likely opposites politically, but you're astute enough to recognize enough of the problems in front of us that you don't just describe your perspective, but the feeling we all have and all have to deal with regardless of the diversity of our perspectives or solutions.
    Thank you.
