Because I felt there was ZERO need for a Joker origin story. I felt the character was better for not telling us how he came to be. Also I assumed it was going to be the standard awful DC tripe. You have no idea how delighted I am to be this wrong.

Finally DC is being DC and not a Marvel copycat. Now Marvel and DC can coexist! And this is awesome!

Each of the live action Jokers has embodied one aspect of the character from the comics. Nicholson was the Comedian, Ledger was the Psychopath, Leto is the Gangster, and now... Phoenix is the Broken Man.
Phoenix is gonna nail the joker he really committed to the role and I'm so excited to see it. My guess is the kid behind the bar fence is kid Bruce Wayne that's just my theory.

Being free of the DCEU and Phoenix's unwillingness to do sequels this seems to be less of a traditional Hero vs Villain and more of a standalone look into one man's fall into madness very much like Taxi Driver or Falling Down just this man becomes Joker.

This totally looks like a Scorsese film from the seventies. Cross Mean Streets with DC and you get this. The cinematography is so different from any other superhero film because it doesn't feel like it's treated as one. This is a Joker Biopic more than the classic good guy vs. bad guy story. I'm sold.

I like that its a variation of the Red Hood Joker "origin". Also, it looks like Phoenix has taken some cues from Ledgers performance without imitating or throwing it to the side. I hope it does well and may be included in some other "Elseworld" movies.

I heard justice league had a complete different story. Black suit superman and green lantern had scenes in the movie cut. They should of stayed with the original Snyder vision.
Well in the original cut, there was actually 2 lanterns in the movie, they have dialog too also the history lesson was much longer and bigger in scale, the invasion also hit Egypt where the wizards fought the parademons
BATMAN The Animated Series is my favorite of toons cause is dark and i was in elementary coming back from school around sunset it matched perfect timing. The music of the intro theme is so gotham.
It doesn't make much sense to talk about the DCEU. DCEU died with Justice League -an attempt to gain the majority acceptance of criticism, erroneous at so many levels-. Aquaman and Shazam assume they are slightly connected to something, but something that is in the past and will never come back. The trailer is simply glorious.

I must have seen it around 50 times. I've had that song in my head all week. I've even been choked up a few times, with tears in my eyes. Batman vs Superman fked things up. Aquaman took cues from King Arthur, Shazam! is the "Big" of comic book movies and now, this is going to be the "Taxi Driver" of comic book movies. WB seems to be taking inspiration from the classics.
Joker ends up being the “hero”, Falling Down style. The villain is Thomas Wayne, and to an extent, the city as a whole. My theory is that Thomas Wayne is his dad, which is why he tries to put that smile on his Half-Brother, Bruce. My theory is that his mother passes away, so Wayne stops sending checks. This causes Arthur to fall off his meds, hence the trip down the rabbit hole.
That will be nice Joaquin Phoenix going to nail this role but he said this is a one movie deal that he's not into the franchise movies. With you have a contract for 3 to 4 movie deal marvel tried to get him as Dr. Strange and he passed on it so this masterpiece of work that he has done as the Joker is it. That would be nice to see his version as the Joker in the DECU and Matt Reeves The Batman but that's not going to happen. Joaquin is really about doing good work and moving on to next role. But if this movie is a good as the trailer he will be getting a Oscar🎥🏆
I don't think he declined Dr strange because it's a franchise. He already knew it was, he wouldn't have been in talks to begin with if that were the case. What he really wants is the freedom to collaborate. And that's what Todd Phillips provides. They literally wrote the rest of this movie as they filmed. So if this does well and there is a worthy idea to explore that he likes and Todd Phillips is involved he'll probably do it and be the joker again. I think they could do some very interesting stuff if they introduced a batman in this world. You'd see this joker more than just a villain.
A lot of renditions involving the Joker, but one thing is consistent about him; he's a psychopath and a dangerous criminal . This movie is destined to be great, and the pressure is all on Todd Phillips at this point. He needs to make the character consistent, but at the same time don't make us feel sorry for all the bad things that he gonna do. Don't give the idea of being criminal is the correct choice even when life takes you down. Being sympathy is good, that means Phoenix is doing a great job by making Joker humane. Heck, just by watching this trailer made me feel sorry for him and just wanna hug him and tell everything's gonna be okay. We saw numerous times where we feel sympathy for the criminals, i.e. Escobar and Felix from Narcos series, but that didn't justify their crimes.

The trailer was interesting but let's not get hyped too much and watch the movie first.
Knowing what the Joker is capable of creates a great deal of anticipation. You know that he doesn't simply walk up to someone with just flowers.

I must have seen it around 50 times. I've had that song in my head all week. I've even been choked up a few times, with tears in my eyes. Batman vs Superman fked things up. Hopefully this will be the big bounce back. The worst thing they could do, is let the franchise get in the way of the film. Because that's always the thing that ends up getting in the way. OCTOBER! it's going to be tourcher waiting that long. So fk knows how many more times I will have watched this.

Aquaman took cues from King Arthur, Shazam! is the "Big" of comic book movies and now, this is going to be the "Taxi Driver" of comic book movies. WB seems to be taking inspiration from the classics.
Joker ends up being the “hero”, Falling Down style. The villain is Thomas Wayne, and to an extent, the city as a whole. My theory is that Thomas Wayne is his dad, which is why he tries to put that smile on his Half-Brother, Bruce. My theory is that his mother passes away, so Wayne stops sending checks. This causes Arthur to fall off his meds, hence the trip down the rabbit hole.
That will be nice Joaquin Phoenix going to nail this role but he said this is a one movie deal that he's not into the franchise movies. With you have a contract for 3 to 4 movie deal marvel tried to get him as Dr. Strange and he passed on it so this masterpiece of work that he has done as the Joker is it. That would be nice to see his version as the Joker in the DECU and Matt Reeves The Batman but that's not going to happen. Joaquin is really about doing good work and moving on to next role. But if this movie is a good as the trailer he will be getting a Oscar🎥🏆
I don't think he declined Dr strange because it's a franchise. He already knew it was, he wouldn't have been in talks to begin with if that were the case. What he really wants is the freedom to collaborate. And that's what Todd Phillips provides. They literally wrote the rest of this movie as they filmed. So if this does well and there is a worthy idea to explore that he likes and Todd Phillips is involved he'll probably do it and be the joker again. I think they could do some very interesting stuff if they introduced a batman in this world. You'd see this joker more than just a villain.

A lot of renditions involving the Joker, but one thing is consistent about him; he's a psychopath and a dangerous criminal .
This movie is destined to be great, and the pressure is all on Todd Phillips at this point. He needs to make the character consistent, but at the same time don't make us feel sorry for all the bad things that he gonna do. Don't give the idea of being criminal is the correct choice even when life takes you down.
Being sympathy is good, that means Phoenix is doing a great job by making Joker humane. Heck, just by watching this trailer made me feel sorry for him and just wanna hug him and tell everything's gonna be okay. We saw numerous times where we feel sympathy for the criminals, i.e. Escobar and Felix from Narcos series, but that didn't justify their crimes.
This movie looks incredible. Taxi driver meets the greatest DC villain of all time.
