    This Joker is a great incarnation. It was smart to leave the scene out but damn is he a good Joker. Written as someone who knows Batman too well because he knows there's a thin line between the Bat and the Joker. The timing of his laugh is on point, he doesn't just laugh like a hyena, he just laughs at the things he finds incredibly funny that nobody else does, it's perfect.

      I'm deeply confused by everyone talking about the detective aspect of this film. What is everyone talking about? Batman wasn't at all a detective in this film. He was an idiot from start to finish. He never figured out anything. The Riddler outsmarted him at every turn. He only got caught because he wanted to get caught. He had to tell Batman his master plan & even then, he still got away with everything.

    Personally, I think there's a reason why 'The Batman' is as he is in this scene. He 'shrinks' in the presence of 'Joker', he's not bullish or intimidating but intimidated by this man to whom fear cannot be struck into. That's pretty powerful to see 'The Batman' in the shadow of 'The Joker' and begin to discover he has a true nemesis.

    I think that they should DEFINITELY stick with “The Long Halloween” inspirations, and just continue to do groups of villains for The Batman sequels, showing that Batman is partially the reason behind why the freaks came out of the shadows. In this movie we had Catwoman, Penguin, and Riddler. The sequel could definitely focus more on Joker, and maybe add Freeze, Scarecrow or Two Face, hell maybe even Poison Ivy(Janelle Monae is still my number one pick for the character). I think that as long as Matt Reeves continues to have respect for these characters and venerates them in the way that he has so far, he can really do anything with them and I would be happy.

      @@hugorosales2357 Same. As much as I’m aware of what having too many villains does to a film (Spider-Man 3), I completely trust that Matt Reeves knows what he’s doing. Especially if the runtime for the films stays at around three hours. The Long Halloween and Dark Victory are some of my absolute favorite Batman comics ever, and having so many villains at once was honestly part of the beauty of it. It’s a shame they killed Carmine in this first installment, but to be fair they didn’t give him the same importance of family as they did in the comics, and they can always give that mob angle to Cobblepot in his show.

    • @jiiicrowelle

    • @themadtitan7603
      @themadtitan7603 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@mateom1691 That's exactly my idea, Matt Reeves has already shown interest in the concept of a transition from mobsters and gangsters to super-criminals and he says this movie shows that shift in the paradigm; have multiple villains that are all tied as suspects in a murder spree with Calendar Man, Mr. Freeze, Joker in a smaller role offering a criminal perspective, Penguin as the classic big criminal boss, Riddler returning as an informant and Hush as the mastermind behind it all who with help from Riddler in creating the identity like in the comics, with Harvey Dent set-up as Two-Face as we witness the trial of Sal Maroni who's mentioned in this movie and Dent's disfigurement. I really think a more direct Long Halloween-style plot like this could be make for a sweeping, epic Batman story that could be Matt Reeves' magnum opus.

In five minutes, it became the most psychopathic version in theaters. Perfect performance by Barry Keoghan, and I don't need to comment on Robert Pattinson and the direction. I feel like the Joker figures out more than Batman realizes when he points out that the violence is "so Baroque" (or to put another way, messy and irregularly shaped), while his puzzles are so meticulous. This is a huge clue that The Batman is overlooking HOW people were murdered and that it would make sense that The Riddler would be meticulous in the violence (murder weapon) as well.

    I hope joker is in the following films but I really quite like having him as a sort of criminal advisor to Batman. Ofcourse, the crescendo of the series would be that while helping Batman he is also plotting and successfully executes his escape. A big trippy grande finale with Joker and Batman in the final film. It would be great to use future films as an opportunity to really build that strange relationship between the two so that we could get a meaningful and artistic ending in the last film.

Maybe if we had had a Year One Batman movie where he fights this Joker, and then this was a cameo, it would have been better, but having this be the big first time we really see and hear from a crazy villain in the movie, it would have cut the legs out from under Riddler and his AMAZING interrogation scene later.

I didnt mind it much for this film, still think its a masterpiece. But would love a modern rendition of Poison Ivy. Maybe they could gamble a story where both Poison Ivy and Freeze are in it. Modern comic interpretations wise, both of those characters arent your typical villains, they both have grey sides that Batman is able to appeal to. Could work thematically where Batman realises that not all villains are after pettery crimes or mass murderers. Then have a third film where Batman's growing knowledge pool gets completely broken by the Court of Owls
