W😳W! With garden season fast approaching I’m gonna order a pack of these to replace the sections on my tiller! 😂 Can’t wait to see John take down is next Bison with one of these BEASTS!
Bet that's an AWESOME head for a 425fps crossbow for elk & brown bear, even bison & musk ox...where your shots are typically going to be 30yds or less...great video John, thanks once again.
That is one FOC king nice broadhead. I was really surprised to see the chunk of concrete it took out and so little damage it took. This is definitely one to put on my shopping list.
That is one cool looking broadhead, would love to see the damage it would do to a tough critter, maybe a nilgai or wildebeest. Once again thanks John for your great work, God bless.
I would think that blade took a lot of research. It's really something. Ranch Fairy going to have a fit over it I would think. I've gotten where if someone ask me about what broad head to use I just give them a couple of brands and refer them to you, somewhere in your videos you'll have what they are looking for. You've tested most. Keep up the good work.
I wish they made this in a 200 or 250 grain head since that’s what I ended up getting my recurve to tune with. May be worth and arrow change to carry some of these in my quiver next season. Seems reasonably priced for a durable, made in America, broadhead.
I made the switch to a heavy 200 gr fixed broad Bishop two years ago with no regrets but I'm not sure i want to go all the way up to the 300 gr on this beast. Looks very interesting though and will try to keep an open mind.
Muzzy makes a 100 and 125 that a classic style of head as well as the MX--3/MX--4 that are from the mid to late 2000's that are not the more modern Trocar series that seem to be more for fast FPS compounds and compound crossbows due to having that gap on the ferrule before the broadhead blades start on the screw end.
This thing is nuts! Haha! Another great video John! Definitely the go to for all broadhead reviews buddy. I don’t suppose you’ve tried out the new Annihilator 150XL against the 125 & the 100?
Well, the bone splitting tip is designed to help in that regard--as is the increased momentum gained with a 300 gr head. But yes, it is a fairly thick ferrule.
These are fixed blade/replaceable blade. Some heads are fixed and are one piece so they do not have replaceable blades. Others are fixed and do have replaceable blades.
They’re made by Dead X Bowhunting. If you google that, you should find them. However, the owner and designer tragically died a year ago. His son was going to take over the business. I don’t know a recent update of that status. I’ve reached out to him, but have not heard back.
So do I have to buy a new quiver for every one of these heads? I mean, will these even fit in a regular quiver? 😬 Great looking broadhead, but not much good if I can’t carry them into the field. I would be curious about the owner’s recommendations.
These are amazing heads look's like a old Muzzy and a old PSE Brute broadhead combined with a Anderson took HGH and Tren thus creating the Big Game 3 😳🤯👍
Cool head. John can you give an idea of what kind of FPS you lose due to a head that weighs so this much compared to 100 range? Definitely don’t think you wanna hit an animal in the front shoulder with this
The standard estimate is that you lose 1-1.5 fps for every extra 5 grains of weight. So if you go from a 100 gr head to a 300 gr head, you will lose around 40-60 fps. However, your momentum will increase tremendously...and it is momentum that affects an arrow's penetration more than anything (all other things equal). As for the shoulder hit, it all depends on what your bow and arrow set ups are.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures ,,,so after reading your comments on this comment,,,I would be going from 425fps - down to 335fps from my crossbow and I believe that is plenty fast enough for a 650gr head/shaft set up,,, but the question is do you John think I would have a penetration problem at 40yds if I was to screw up and hit a whitetail or elk shoulder @ that distance ???????
Yep. You can check it out here on my channel. If you're ever wondering about a head, just type the name of the head and LUSK into the TH-cam search bar and if I've tested it, it will come up.
I already have--a while back. Just search for REK LUSK here on TH-cam. And do that for any head you're wondering if I've already tested. They're sending me their new ones to test in June.
Looks like a great broadhead. I enjoy your tests. I know you have taken lots of African game. Do you have an outfitter recommendation for Africa? Thank you.
This one is excellent if you're looking for a fixed blade. All of my tests between now and mid May are of heads with big cuts that could possibly be great for turkey. I am going to try this one this year. But my typical choice is a large mech--like a Sevr 2.0 or a Dead Ringer Trauma with 3.75" of cut...or a Vortex.
The max rating Flight Forgiveness for fixed blade heads is 8 on a 10 pt scale. The max for a mech is 10 on a 10 pt scale, cause they are more forgiving, due to less surface area. Then those scores are weighted to a 20 pt scale, so that flight forgiveness is 20% of the total score. So the max score of a fixed is 16 pts. If on rare occasion a fixed flies extremely well, then I sometimes add a pt in the Bonus section. The Big Game 3 scored a 7.5/10 for flight, or 15 pts out of 20. It flew well, but my bow is very well tuned. So the rating of 15/20 is very good, but not quite maximum in Flight Forgiveness.
I wrote that from my other account. Hope it makes sense. Let me know if you have any other questions. I should probably rephrase that in the scoring description to make it clearer.
Yeah, hard to say. But I have heard reports of people getting multiple pass thrus on deer using these. But large 2 blade heads can change direction within an animal on occasion.
Well, it penetrated better than I expected, given the size of the cut it's making. The extra weight increases momentum quite a bit, which helps with the penetration. That being said, it doesn't penetrate as well as a much smaller head. Everything is a tradeoff. But I would have no hesitation using it for deer, even with my short 27" draw.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures it was a joke. Depending on hunting style and desired prey there are benefits and drawbacks to every setup. But there are other things that go into the equation than just speed, moment, durability.
durable head, but penetration is a deal breaker. it would be better off with just two blades. That thing isnt going through a shoulder. you stated it right with "AS LONG AS YOU HAVE THE KINETIC ENERGY TO DRIVE THEM THROUGH" well, what is that number? most people don't shoot 72 pounds and are average draw length. If a deer gets hit with that thing, even if its a perfect hit, he's going to be running further than necessary because of the pain felt when it entered its body.
In the testing, it actually penetrated better than I was expecting. The extra weight increases the momentum (which affects penetration more than KE) quite a bit, even within the same draw weight. I would have no hesitation to use it for deer, even with my 27" draw.
This head is like the 50 bmg of broadheads!! Awesome video as always 👍🏼
Right?!
That arrow and broadhead combo looked like tomahawk missile. Another amazing review. Thank you Mr. Lusk. God bless
Thank you Mel.

Should have named it MOAB (Mother Of All Broadheads). I like everything about this.

The creator shot a whitetail buck with it if you'd want to watch that
Wow. That is a bruiser of a broadhead. Thank you for the great test and introducing a unique and novel broadhead.

They should have called it the Goliath head. Wow that thing is huge!! Can't wait for that hunting video John!!!!
Yeah, I had a similar thought :)
Great test! Thanks, I will be giving that one a try, just what I have been searching for!
Nice. Good luck.
After seeing the damage this broadhead did on your pig hunt vid, had to revisit this review. Will have to give them a try.
Yeah, they were impressive!
What a beast!!!
Yeah, that would've been a good name for it.
All I can say is devastating. Awesome.
Thanks for watching Michael.
WOW Just WOW 😂

P.S. Remember that scene from Crocodile Dundee… “Now this is a knife”! 🤣😂🤣

Those Bishop heads are incredible heads. I've used a couple different models of their 200 gr heads. Thanks for watching.

@@LuskArcheryAdventures awesome John. Look forward to it! I’ll hold off from buying until I see your testing! Thanks!
Awesome to increase FOC ! Maybe a bit wide of ferrule if accidentally hit bone, but otherwise devastating?… Thanks John for all you do!

@@LuskArcheryAdventures True the extra momentum makes up for some of that! Awesome durability too. Thanks
Love that Big Game 3 broadhead
Yep.
The hunt videos of these leave some massive holes!
Yep.
Nice review John , question’ do you call these heads replacement heads or fixed blade
These are fixed blade/replaceable blade. Some heads are fixed and are one piece so they do not have replaceable blades. Others are fixed and do have replaceable blades.
Hey great video but where can I by these broadheads at, and if you don't mind how much thanks.

I have a set of these and they fit in a PSE two piece quiver just fine.
They fit in my tight spot
You have to carry these arrows in your teeth like a pirates cutlass.
They fit in my quiver. Being 3 blade makes them easier to fit.
Would love to see the damage it could do to an Elk shoulder scapula. Thanks for the review, God Bless.
It would be a nice hole. I should have done that for this vid.
it only got 4 inches of penetration at the test yardage(20 yards?) that broadhead will leave a lot of animals in the field.
@@km6731 lol, no it won't, unless you can't shoot straight. Test medium is not like an animal.
8:30 What are you spinning your arrows on to show if the wobble or not?
An arrow spinner
Wide heads can require some extra tuning, but with that much weight, may not be too bad.
Yep. They actually flew well for me.
These are amazing heads look's like a old Muzzy and a old PSE Brute broadhead combined with a Anderson took HGH and Tren thus creating the Big Game 3 😳🤯👍

I wonder if part of the penetration issue is due to a diminishing return because it's so heavy?.
No it’s just the massive cut size. That cut generates more friction/resistance to penetrate.
Stop making me buy broadheads!
LOL
Haha. That's how I feel too!
Same here. I got some many i can open a store
Would love to see a 4 blade version

Is that the best concrete test ever?
It sure did well--especially when it's 800 grains hitting that concrete.
Does this company make any smaller broadheads?
Not at this point.
Those would be crazy out of a 500+ fps crossbow.
:)
Please put this in your quiver... it won't fit will it?
They fit easily in most two piece quivers. I have a PSE two piece and they fit without any issues.
They fit fine in my quiver.
Maybe a good deer/pig head but I'd be very reluctant to use it on something elk sized.

at 3:40 still looks like it has a bit of wobble to me.
There was a bit--I tightened it down even more after that and there was no wobble at all.

Well thought out head design. Awesome results. Now you just need a ravin for it to get to its target before it dies of old age.
Well, lots of people use very heavy arrows from vertical bows--shot noise is minimized & momentum/penetration is maximized.
