I've been a Sevr fan almost since they came out, but I think this one will be in the quiver for a while. I put three of these through deer this season. Two double lung does and a liver shot on a larger 8-point buck. Both double lung shots went down within 5 seconds. It was incredible. The shot on the buck was challenging and ended up being further back than I wanted, but he bedded down 70 yards out and expired. Lots of blood for the whole trail. I'm very impressed with the performance of these heads, and they seem like they'd do the job on almost anything. 70lb Mathews VXR, 29" draw, 280fps with 490gr arrows for comparison, and I think they'd do the job with much lighter setups, as all my arrows were deeply imbedded in the ground after a full pass-through.
Just commented on your New Tru-Glo video asking you to test the 1.5 Hybrid and, well about 10 minutes later this published! Thanks for what you do. I wanted to see how the bleeders held up. Sevr is the only mechanical I shoot these days. Gonna have to stock up for hunting season this year.
I got so excited when SEVR did their reveal. I've had many successful hunts using them from the 1.5 to the 2.0s. Wild Boars and Axis deer in Hawai'i. I've seen no issues with arrow flight and the damage is crazy. Thank you again for another awesome broadhead review!
@@joeditz48 I haven’t been to big island for a bit now. I usually hunt PTA (when they are open) or whatever GMA is open for the year when I do go though. I love the place, very challenging landscape, and very pressured animals out there lol
I’ve stayed away from mechanicals since I started hunting 25 years ago. I gave the 1.5 a try last season on a doe and I was very pleased with the results.
Ooooh these looks real nice! I will say, I had a little wing of my 2.0 break off inside of a Rinehart 18-1 broadhead target when it caught the nylon rope handle inside the foam. Sevr sent me a replacement broadhead no questions asked. Also, Rinehart sent me a new target for it too! Both stand-up companies.
@@greekmaster1001 no I hit the tag end inside the target. They said they try to design it so you never catch the nylon with an arrow. They also made the good point that it shouldn’t be shot at now with a piece of steel stuck inside
Man I appreciate and respect your testings. Your testings is what pushed me towards sevr’s. Between my son, daughter and myself we harvested a lot of deer last year with our crossbows using sevr’s. Great blood trails. We love them and ill never shoot anything else
Another winner from sevr! Can’t wait to see if they add a hybrid version of the larger cut heads. A hybrid robusto or 2.0 would be amazing for the high energy crossbows!
Only issue I've ever had with sevr (have taken multiple big game with them, pronghorn, elk and mule deer) is they seem to put less blood on the ground than other comparable size heads. This fixes that one problem for sure!
I found that they swing over and or close up while inside the cavity then open back up when they exit. That’s why sometimes you don’t see slot of blood.
I’ve really not seen that as an issue. I’ve heard people say that, but I’ve taken about 30 animals with them. It is much more of a function of shot placement than anything else. I’ve had some of my shots produce a downright bloodbath. And I’ve had others be a lot more of a trickle. But it all depends on whether clip an artery or not. Even with a seemingly good shot, if you do not cut an artery, you will not get the same amount of blood. Or if you hit a little bit high in the lungs, you will not get as much blood.
I haven’t used the hybrid but I just took a cow elk the other day with a 1.5 SEVR, worked great, zipped right through double lung, they fly like my field tips.
I tested the hybrid out on a bull elk a few days ago, they performed perfect, full cut on entry, full cut on exit, the bull went 15 yards and was dead when he hit the ground
Thanks for all your work, John. I shot a large Illinois buck last week with the 1.5 Hybrid. Full pass through at 10 yards, slightly quartering to, upper lungs. Wound openings were not large. Deer went 100 yards or so. I was disappointed to see that the expandable blades did not lock open. Have you heard of this happening?
Thanks for the comment and congrats for the harvest! Smaller holes can happen on quartering shots. If the deployment arms are not both engaged at the same time, then one blade can pivot closed while the other springs open. I’ve taken about 30 animals with the Sevr and have seen this happen once or twice. However, they do almost always lock open internally, as they get more simultaneous resistance. Upon exiting, again, if it is as an angle, one blade can pivot closed while the other springs more open. It’s worth noting a couple other things: 1. Sevr is one of the only mechanical heads that allows blades to lock open at all. So, on the rare occasion that they do not lock open, then they are just like any other mechanical-the blades are held open by pressure on the deployment arms. 2. When the blades pivot, it is very briefly, and that allows for deeper and straighter penetration-but a bit smaller cut at that moment. 3. With the Hybrid, the “least” cut size you can get is about 1.7” total. The tip is .7” and one blade close & the other open is about 1”. That’s a larger cut than most fixed blade heads. And it’s a larger entrance cut than any front deploying mech. When both blades are deployed with the hybrid, you get the full 2.2” cut, which will certainly happen internally. With a high lung shot, I wouldn’t expect much of a blood trail with any head-unless you happen to clip an artery. Expiring within 100 yds is pretty darn good.
John, I’ve been a big fan of Sevr ever since you introduced them to me a couple years back I believe it was I started with the Robusto, which I still use, I have the 2 inch 100 grain titanium and now it looks like I’m going to have to start looking at these Excellent job on the review as usual!
I just loved your testing of broadheads I'm going to try the sever 1.75 this year out of my crossbow tenpoint flatline 460 , I have shot them in the practice mode and cannot notice the difference between them and my field points thanks for the videos you make
Yeah, it’s amazing how well these things fly. And with a crossbow, you can drive that head really deeply into an animal. Remember you can save some money using my discount code, LUSKFIVE
I’ve harvested 2 deer with SEVR hybrids this year. I will say the entry hole was excellent on both deer, but the exit left a lot to be desired. It’s my belief that the pivoting blades actually hinder the chances of a good exit hole because when they pivot, only one blade is exposed. I wish the blades locked open with no pivot.
Yeah, that can happen, especially if the animal is at an angle when there is an exit. But even in a worst case scenario, you’re getting about 1.7” of cut, with one blade closed. That’s more than most 3 blade fixed heads and almost all 2 blade fixed heads.
True, but my experience was that the pivoting action caused a lot of deflection when inside the animal. I don’t know if it was just a fluke, but my arrow entered at a downward angle behind the shoulder, and actually exited higher with a small hole on the back side.
I know your testing show how sharp these are but do you personally sharpin these n other sevr s before you go hunting ? Or are they good right out the package. Thanks love your vids .J.P
Just a fantastic video. Wow. I really love these videos. Your sevr testing is what changed me over to using sevr I couldn't be happier. Very tough very lethal heads. Great video.
My arrows are tipped with the 1.75's but I've watched this video several times now and i have to say, I'm going to have to order a few of these. I think that bleeder will act as a opening up the wound just a little. Kind of like clearing the path for the main blades to easier do they're job. These really impress me.
Ok, watched your review and now have 3 on the way! The first thing I check when I see an interesting broadhead, if if you've done a review on it and how did it do? Thanks for the great information.
Thank you for the great review! I have been looking for a good replacement for the original snyper broadhead for years. It had the perfect bleeder blade in the front and smaller swept back main blades you need for elk. I killed a bunch of elk with them and when they got bought out it all went down hill. I tried many different heads but have never been satisfied. I need a mechanical because I shoot really fast and it's hard to make fixed heads fly exactly the same over 290 fps. Then I saw the sevr hybrid...... I knew these were it and bought them the day the came out and just shot a 6x7 bull at 62 yards frontal and it devastated him! 480 grain arrow buried to the fletching. Great heads and finally a worthy successor to the snyper. My last two elk before this were with single bevel cutthroats because I lost a couple elk with inferior mechanical heads but now I don't have to change my sight at all between field tips and broadheads. My boy used one too and took a beautiful cow elk at long range. These fly perfect and the blood trails were incredible! Neither elk went over 100 yards. Thank you sir and thanks to sevr. This is the head I've been looking for.... God bless
Thanks for sharing that! Congratulations. Can you pls send me some pics of the elk, entrance hole and broadhead…whatever you got. My email is johnlusk64@gmail.com
Bought 3 of these 125 grains and my grandson put one through a mature Georgia doe a couple of days ago using my SWAT X1 from a ground blind. Clean through the vital V from 30 yards. Doe didn't know she was hit ... walked about 15 yards and fell over. After passing through, the arrow ricocheted off the ground (probably hit a rock) and stuck 6' up in a tree about 15 yards past. Broadhead still spun true but had a little bit of tip curl and the blades were nicked up but straight. I filed out the tip curl and replaced the blades. The holes were bigger than I would expect from a 1.5" two blade and the bleeder left a nice hole in the middle. Blood trail didn't start until right before she fell but that's to be expected from a ground blind shot and I didn't need to track anyway. I took it to a processor and don't know if it cut through rib bones, but it passed through the rib cage nonetheless. Of course, this is just anecdotal evidence and not as severe a test as you put them through but the head performed flawlessly and can be reused. Your testing provides very useful information and is much appreciated. Arrow setup: Victory XBolt, 125 gr SEVR 1.5 hybrid, lighted nock, TAW=470 gr, FOC = 21% measured.
So as far as the “lock open” part do they collapse forward when you pull it backwards? In my state the blade have to fold forward to not be considered “barbed” and thereby legal to hunt with.
Been watching your videos for a couple years. Just realized I wasn’t following. I’m still not but I just realized. Joking. Just subscribed. Another great video. Been interested in these broadheads. Wondering if anyone will ever build an expandable that is bombproof and completely reliable.
They are! And for what you get, the price is pretty amazing-they cut the middle man by only selling direct to consumer. Then you can save an extra five dollars with my discount code LUSKFIVE.
John do you have easy access to a 60y range? It would be interesting to see downrage velocity, using a lab radar to get velocity, then add that to the comparison, you should be able to quantify drag in a way doing that were we can see how each broadhead effects downrange velocity. It's not perfect since you would have to normalize for atmospheric conditions, but might be good enough.
Yeah, that just is much too involved and time-consuming for me to do, with 60 or 70 tests a year. Perhaps when I retire, I can do that kind of testing.
John, I have been shooting the Sevr 2.0 for a few years now. I use an Excalibur Mag340 crossbow. I shot and harvested 2 whitetail buck with them but neither passed through the deer from less than 12 yards away. When I used rage hypodermics they always passed through. I would love to get your input on this and if you could recommend going with the 1.5 or the 1.5 hybrid or if I should consider switching to a fixed blade such as tooth of the arrow instead. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the question. Congrats on the harvests. Honestly, it’s hard to make a conclusion based on 2 animals. With a high speed bolt, an animal with quick reflexes, and each animals unique anatomy, there are all kinds of crazy things that can happen when a broadhead hits an animal. I remember being shocked one time when a nice fixed blade barely penetrated into a javelina I shot. They only way about 40 lbs. With my compound, Ive taken over 30 animals with Sevrs and I’ve had probably 75% pass throughs with every Sevr I’ve used, from the 1.5 to the 2.0 to the Robusto. The only ones that didn’t were quartering shots of some sort. And even then, the initial holes were massive. Oh then I also shot a 275 lb boar with a Texas heart shot using a 1.5. It went maybe 20 yds and died, but not a pass thru. With my crossbow, I’ve only shot two hogs and used Sevr Robusto’s for those. Both zipped right through. If you’re looking for the best penetration, the 1.5 is tops. Then the 1.75, then the Hybrid or 2.0. I wouldn’t use a fixed blade because the cut just won’t be nearly as big as a mech and they won’t fly as good at crossbow speeds. But if I did use a fixed blade, I’d use an Exodus. Still decent cut and they fly quite well. I just personally feel more confident using a mech. And Sevrs and Jekylls are my top 2 choices for mechs. I prefer the rear deploying head to at least get one big hole. But when all is said and done, you’ve gotta use what you’re most confident with. I like to be as confident as possible in all my gear, so I can’t blame things on the Gear. It forces me to take responsibility for whatever happens.
That was very helpful. I think I will try the sevr 1.75 and hopefully get better penetration with that before going all the way to the 1.5 or hybrid. Thank you again for the response and all these videos!
There's a current thread on Rokslide about the bluntness of the tip. Looking at the video, I see that the tip on yours seems quite blunt as well. Someone chimed in on the Rokslide thread showing some Sevrs they bought a few months ago and the tips looked needle point sharp. Any thoughts or concerns about the tip?
I have zero concerns about that. The tip doesn’t really matter as much as people think. They make it stout, so it keeps its shape well, since it’s titanium.
I like made in USA, the quality of materials, and the results with the Ti- 125. Price and package is very good also.I suspect the negative posts are trolls or competitors. Besides, if you list that many bulls, maybe you shouldn't be using archery equipment at all! Thanks for the testing!
John, great review. I have shot a few archery elk with the original Ulmer Edges which are very similar to the SEVR and they always did the job. But it is time to order SEVRs for my crossbow. What are your thoughts on the 1.5 hybrids or the regular 1.5s for elk. I will be shooting the 125 gr out of a crossbow at 440ish fps. My arrow/bolt total weight with broadhead will be 425 grains. Thanks
The 1.5s are the best penetration model of Sevr. But out of a crossbow, I’d lean toward the 1.5 Hybrid-it would still penetrate deeply enough and would produce a better blood trail-all else equal.
The 1.5. I don’t know the weight of your arrows, but your set up is on the light side for any mech. With a good shot, you should be ok; but you may want to consider a good fixed blade as well, like an Exodus.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures Yeah I had to go down on poundage due to my shoulder. I didn't change my broadhead which is a Rage Hypodermic NC. I have killed three doe and one mature buck this year with them with no problem but I hit another buck square in a rib and didn't get enough penetration. I got him on camera the next night, you could see the wound but he was fine and that got me looking at other heads. Thanks for the reply I was actually watching your 2024 Broadhead Test Summary and Spreadsheet video when I saw your reply.
Iron will came out with the wide single bevel in 100 and 125 grain if you could test them soon. I’m wondering if them cutting the weight effect the durability.
Would you do any testing on the deep six thread pattern? Hear a lot of they are not as strong you have the most reviews on any broad heads wonder what ya thought are on such
I used to hunt with those for a few years. I stopped doing it when I started testing Broadheads, because they’re just were not enough heads available in deep six.
Hey man thanks for your great reviews. After being inspired by your videos I decided to use the sevr 1.5 on a nice bull moose in northern Ontario last year. I’m heading back up this year. After your testing would you lean towards these new hybrids instead of the 1.5s for a large animal like a moose?
Good question. It largely depends on your set up and shot distance. It takes more oomph to drive it deeply. If your goal is maximum penetration, the 1.5 is best. If you have plenty of momentum, then the 1.5 Hybrid would be great.
Thanks. The last moose was a 51” I hit him with my compound at 20yds and 50yds. Dropped in front of my eyes within 30 seconds. Neither shot passed through but lodged in the hide on his opposite side.
That’s a good question. I explained that in the first video of the year, where I introduce the 2024 Broadhead test process. The short reason was that almost every head passed the test just fine. And on top of that, the rotation of the blades and flight and where they are when they impact the angled board makes a huge difference. So one bright head may catch the blade just right and stick into the board, while another one rotates differently and the blade hits the wood, causing it to, bounce off. In other words, it just was not a useful or reliable test.
I don’t think they will. That’s part of the design and what makes them unique. I’ve only had it proved quite lethal for me, after shooting a lot of animals with it. And the extra bleeder makes up for anything lost by the blade that pivots closed. I recently used the 1.74 in Argentina. They made a great initial hole, and pivoted well after one blade cut through the rib and the other swung closed, then pivoted back open immediately after that and stuck out the far side. I was impressed by how quickly they pivoted back open and also for the cut of the rib while one blade was open and one was closed.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures They work for sure I have around 12 or 13 animals with them and wife 7 deer. And over half had the small exit hole where one blade was close hitting rib. Makes for less blood. Love the toughness of them and how well they are made. Since they went hybrid I'd hope they were going to start to make other small options and changes. Like add no pivot option. I personally don't need the pivot to help with penetration on my bow specs, but like it for the wife and her specs. I didn't think sevr would go part fixed head since they were unique with no fixed heads. They are working their way to a fixed head so I'm hoping they will work their way to none pivot blade option but keep the option to pivot for ppl that want that option.
Zero reservation. I’d use them for those animals with my set up for sure. I consider these some of the very best mechs for larger sized game-if not the best.
Awesome review AS ALWAYS! Does anyone have any real life experience with this head yet? Prob not because of the time of year this was released but I’m really curious to hear about it in the near future.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures thanks so much for the fast response. I’ve been using grim reapers for years but have been wanting to try Sevr and after watching this review I was thinking about trying these. Now I’m really leaning that way hahaha.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures hey 125 grain or 150 grain would be fine with me. And most guys would probably use it as a crossbow head so the extra weight wouldn’t effect them that much either
Great video. This has definitely become my #1 for this year. I'm curious, however, what you make of such deep penetration through the gel but relatively poor penetration through the cardboard compared to other broadheads you've tested in 2023 and 2024? Thanks for sharing these reviews.
John, curious why the 6 “edges” of the tip didn’t count towards the total cut? You’ve included these on another BH before, I believe maybe the DeadX Bloodflow?
I know. Nice observation. It’s because they weren’t as pronounced as the BloodFlow; they were much smaller. And 4 of them were already in the same plane as the main blades or the leading blades.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures gotcha, thanks. I believe only 2 of the 6 could be in plane with either the main blades or the bleeder blades. But doesn’t matter anyways since they’re not counted.
Yes, and no. When I first looked at them, I thought too much of the blade is covered up by those deployment arms. However, I have not seen it being an issue in any of the tests I’ve done. They penetrate very well and make really nice holes. I’ve also taken close to 30 animals with them now, and they’ve always performed well there too.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures Thank you sir. About what I am using also. 460gr, draw weight 63lbs draw length 27 1/2 and arrows are 27in. Thank you for responding. I love your videos. Last yr I shot big 10 and I was using the Maxone 100gr. For inexpensive broadheads they work wonderful and you did a good review on them. Thanks again.
I've read in other threads how difficult it is to change out the blades; in addition to the heads accidentally opening in quivers. Obviously this wouldn't be part of your testing process. But could you please comment on this and your experiences using them? I don't want to switch out my quiver (kwikee) just to accommodate them.
I have commented on that with some of the other Sevr videos. I just can’t share everything and every video. If you have a foam insert in your quiver, you need to cut a little space for the Broadhead to slide into so it doesn’t open them prematurely. That’s the way it is with a number of mechanicals as well. Or you can get the kind of quiver that does not have foam, but rather has a harder rubber insert. Those will press on the deployment arms at all. I have lot of videos on my channel where I use the sever on hunts. A lot. And I show how they work. You can check them out on my channel, just search for Sevr and many will come up. I’ve taken many Whitetail, including big Iowa bucks, huge hogs, a red stag, zebra, blesbok, muley, and turkeys with them.
John, this is off topic from the post, but not sure where else to ask.....What is the address/PO Box number to send heads for testing? I would like to send a set of heads to you for testing.
They allow my discount code to be used on top of any other online specials. But occasionally, there is such a clearance price that they don’t allow it. But usually they do.
You just made my day… once again! 😂 I’M ordering these as soon as I can to add to my Hyde’s that I also ordered thanks to you, In our previous correspondence I said I love the Sevrs performance but just not comfortable with a 2 blade after years of 2 blade sub performance IMO over many years of use with my traditional bows, next thing I know, SUPRISE, here is Sevr with a 4 blade, that makes them near perfect in an imperfect world! Once again, thanks so much for your channel! God Bless! 😃
Nope. They're not affected by cold because they're silicone. If you have a foam insert in your quiver, you'd be side to clear out some space for them to slide in without causing the blades to open.
Is it worth switching to these from the original 1.5? I bought the 1.5 for Iowa whitetail a few years ago when I first stumbled across your sevr review and have been eyeing these for the upcoming season.
The 1.5 is fantastic for maximizing penetration. The Hybrid will cut more tissue. I’ve taken a lot of animals with the 1.5, quite successfully. For big Iowa bucks, the 1.5 is still a great choice
Not sold on sevrs personally, way to many cheaper options out there that never failed me, also feel like the pivoting blades would cause deflection at some point down the road.
John, man I have loved your videos for a really long time! Thanks for all you do. I’m headed to AK to bow hunt moose mid sept. Im shooting a phase 4, 28.5 draw, 70lbs 448grn arrow. My main head is iron will. Im wondering what your choice would be for an expandable? Beast, sever, sevr hybrid or hyde? Any help would be awesome.
When I hunted moose, I had a Sevr 1.5 and Iron Will Single Bevel with bleeders in my quiver. I’d planned for the IW for frontal or quartering shots and the Sevr for broadside or longer, or windier shots. The moose was coming straight at me so I nocked the IW. Then it turned broadside-no time to swap out, so I drilled it with the IW. It ran to 70 yds & stopped, at which time I drilled it with a Sevr 1.5. I loved that combo.
I'm thinking EO will make a bigger hole, Sevr may fly more accurately and do better Angling. Both will blow through deer. Gotta take a pick on what you want haha. I'm indecisive myself.
Sevr definitely make a much larger entry hole, due to the rear deploying blades. And they have less exposed blade in flight. Let me sad, I also like those Hyde heads. They are very good as well.
Yeah, that would be a good one to test. Unfortunately, I’ve already tested heads and produced the videos and have them scheduled to drop twice per week through October. Then I have another batch of 16 that I have finished and editing now. That will take me to the end of the year and more. I have another 30 that I’ve not even begun to test. But if someone donates a pack of those, I will test them in early 25.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures A little more weight would just make FOC even better. I’d actually love to see a super beefy 200 grain titanium version with even thicker blades, and a ferrule larger than the arrow diameter to reduce friction on the arrow shaft. Not that their heads don’t seem durable as they obviously are from your tests, but err on the side of caution and make amazing even better. Keep up the great work John. I always look forward to seeing a notification that a new test has been done. I’m waiting to see the slick trick 150s.
Update: I had HORRIBLE penetration on a doe, which I shot broadside. Dan Staton from Elkshape also had horrible penetration on an Elk shot broadside and it never hit a bone, with 3/4 of arrow sticking out. Maybe this is from the new tip design which isnt sharp?
I don’t believe the ferrule is narrower than the shaft of the arrow. But it is slightly narrower than my insert. That doesn’t bother me at all, as the hole is well opened by the time that hits the animal.
The Ulmer was the original head with this design. Then Easton purchased it and created a new division called Sevr. And they improved greatly on that original design. They own all the patents, so no one can copy much of the design.
I did not notice any; like I shared in the video, those blades are the same length as the deployment arms, and in the same area. So turbulence is already created by those deployment arms.
I use a lot of different ones. But Sevrs are my “go to”. I’d like to use this hybrid. I just had a second back surgery in the last two months so I have a lot of healing and rehab to do first.
That’s fantastic to hear. Congratulations and thanks for sharing that experience.

Yes sir.
Wow Rinehart sent you a new target just because the rope got cut?
@@greekmaster1001 no I hit the tag end inside the target. They said they try to design it so you never catch the nylon with an arrow. They also made the good point that it shouldn’t be shot at now with a piece of steel stuck inside

Bought these based on your review also used your code for 5$ off… thanks for your efforts
Oh, that’s great to hear. They really are quite the deal for the quality of materials and craftsmanship that you get. Good luck, brother!
I haven’t used the hybrid but I just took a cow elk the other day with a 1.5 SEVR, worked great, zipped right through double lung, they fly like my field tips.
Very nice. Thanks for sharing that.
I tested the hybrid out on a bull elk a few days ago, they performed perfect, full cut on entry, full cut on exit, the bull went 15 yards and was dead when he hit the ground
That’s great to hear Jason. Congratulations! And thanks for sharing that experience.

I started with the Robusto, which I still use, I have the 2 inch 100 grain titanium and now it looks like I’m going to have to start looking at these
Excellent job on the review as usual!

Shot a doe with these last night, went about 40 yards. Man the hole it left was HUGE!
That’s great to hear. Thank you for sharing that experience.
They are pretty easy to sharpen to beyond hair shaving. Love sevr 2.0s. Never tried these though
:)
Best broadhead on the market hands down I absolutely love them

Great to hear that. Thank you for the comment.
My arrows are tipped with the 1.75's but I've watched this video several times now and i have to say, I'm going to have to order a few of these. I think that bleeder will act as a opening up the wound just a little. Kind of like clearing the path for the main blades to easier do they're job. These really impress me.
Wow very impressive John!!! Cannot argue with those results!
Yep. I was impressed as well.
I broke down and ordered 3 of these and 3 1.75", they just test so well!
Nice. They’re both really good.

Great improvement adding the bleeder blades. Now if SEVR will do that with the 1.75...I'm buying!

Ok, watched your review and now have 3 on the way! The first thing I check when I see an interesting broadhead, if if you've done a review on it and how did it do? Thanks for the great information.
Glad to hear that. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing that detailed experience. And congratulations
So as far as the “lock open” part do they collapse forward when you pull it backwards? In my state the blade have to fold forward to not be considered “barbed” and thereby legal to hunt with.
Yes. They are not barbed, just like every Sevr head, if you are familiar with them.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures ok great! I appreciate the response!

@@LuskArcheryAdventures understandable
Thanks for your reviews. What arrow wieght do you normally hunt with?
500 gr is my present standard weight.
I like made in USA, the quality of materials, and the results with the Ti- 125. Price and package is very good also.I suspect the negative posts are trolls or competitors. Besides, if you list that many bulls, maybe you shouldn't be using archery equipment at all! Thanks for the testing!
Thanks for the comment.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures Awesome! Thanks for the reply!
Maybe a set of cut resistant gloves would be a good idea for you? You seem to like running your fingers on the sharp blades?
Yeah I just got some, cause now I have to take blood thinners.
Which Sevr would you recommend for a 50 Lb. draw weight and 28 inch draw length? Hunting deer only.

They were impressive.
Iron will came out with the wide single bevel in 100 and 125 grain if you could test them soon. I’m wondering if them cutting the weight effect the durability.
All done. It's posting Monday, July 1, at 11:00am
John, another question on your test. I saw on some past tests you did angled shots. Why didn't you do that test with this broadhead? Thanks!
Fantastic mechanical, I would love to use them its a shame I can't get them shipped to Australia
Sorry about that.
hopefully they make the option for no pivot on the blades.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures
They work for sure I have around 12 or 13 animals with them and wife 7 deer.
Ya I’m with you. I found the blades wouldn’t open back up sometimes while traveling through the cavity.
good afternoon, thanks for these great videos. Would you have any reservation in using this broadhead on elk or moose?
thanks again
Zero reservation. I’d use them for those animals with my set up for sure. I consider these some of the very best mechs for larger sized game-if not the best.
That’s just yet another awesome head from Sevr!!
Yep.
Awesome review AS ALWAYS! Does anyone have any real life experience with this head yet? Prob not because of the time of year this was released but I’m really curious to hear about it in the near future.

Thanks for sharing, can't go wrong with sevr!!!
Yep.
Awesome test. Unrelated, but would you ever use a beast 2.3 on a Whitetail? Or is that too big of a cut
lol yes
I would, out of my set up. But I’d be more comfortable with the 2.0 for larger Whitetail bucks, especially out of a tree stand.
Since the ironwill 100 grain wide is new and unlike a lot of broadheads could you do a test on that head?
I just tested the 125 grain iron will wide. It is posting this coming Monday. July 1, 2024.
Hope they do this to the 2.0 also
Yeah, but it’s hard for them to make up for the weight of the extra blade.
Like I said, the weight is the biggest challenge.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures hey 125 grain or 150 grain would be fine with me. And most guys would probably use it as a crossbow head so the extra weight wouldn’t effect them that much either
Just bought my first crossbow, Ravin R29X. Would you recommend these or another broadhead to use with it for my first year? Loved the video!

@LuskArcheryAdventures Found out they have a Military discount too that is a little bit better.
Great video. This has definitely become my #1 for this year. I'm curious, however, what you make of such deep penetration through the gel but relatively poor penetration through the cardboard compared to other broadheads you've tested in 2023 and 2024? Thanks for sharing these reviews.
Yeah, it’s all about the cut size. I think it would do fine on an animal. I had some friends that used it on blackbear, and they zipped right through.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures awesome, thanks for the reply!
Dang you Sevr! Nice head to add to my Sevr stash.
:)
Do the tabs still cover the blades when shot? Does it keep the blades from being able to cut in that area?
Yes, and no. When I first looked at them, I thought too much of the blade is covered up by those deployment arms. However, I have not seen it being an issue in any of the tests I’ve done. They penetrate very well and make really nice holes. I’ve also taken close to 30 animals with them now, and they’ve always performed well there too.
Ugh, I literally just got all new 1.5s a few weeks ago for this year’s elk season lol.

Yes. Impressive.

Love the 1.75s as well.
Appreciate the calculated information 🙏
You're welcome :)
Amazing. Thanks.
Have you had any issues with the o-rings in the cold or sitting in elites quiver?
I have a Excalibur mag 340 crossbow will these work with that crossbow? Thank you in advanced John!
Definitely will buddy!
Absolutely. The flight test in my video was out of a crossbow. All Sevrs are some of the most forgiving heads in flight-including these.
okay i think i made my decision now. Thank you for your content.
You’re welcome. Good luck.
Not sold on sevrs personally, way to many cheaper options out there that never failed me, also feel like the pivoting blades would cause deflection at some point down the road.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures would you use the classic sevr or the new hybrid?
Wow these performed very well! How do you think they compare to the evolution outdoors hyde?
I'm thinking EO will make a bigger hole, Sevr may fly more accurately and do better Angling. Both will blow through deer. Gotta take a pick on what you want haha. I'm indecisive myself.
@@trevorslifka7449not a bigger entry hole
Sevr definitely make a much larger entry hole, due to the rear deploying blades. And they have less exposed blade in flight. Let me sad, I also like those Hyde heads. They are very good as well.
Can’t wait to try them!

Completely off topic but where did you get the shirt you had on?
It's a Kuiu Shirt. You can order them on their website.
I’d really like to to see a 4 blade 2.0!
Their engineers are trying to see how they can do that and keep both weight and durability within their standards.
New viewer here, earned a sub with this great info. Keep it up!
Thank you
Can you do a test on the g5 dead meat v2 please.
John, do you think this head might replace the standard 1.5 in your quiver? I know you probably haven’t had time to try them yet.
It depends on what I’m hunting. For deer sized game, yep. For much larger animals I like the penetration of the 1.5.
Oh wow, I was just thinking my the other day how awesome it would be if they had a small bleeder. I hope they make this in the 1.75”.
Nice. We’ll see in the days ahead. They’re having a hard time make up for the extra weight with the longer models.
These earned their spot on my quiver for elk season 😎
Yes sir.
Does it bother you that the ferrule is narrower than the arrow?
I don’t believe the ferrule is narrower than the shaft of the arrow. But it is slightly narrower than my insert. That doesn’t bother me at all, as the hole is well opened by the time that hits the animal.
What's the deal with Ulmer Edge and Sevr looking the same?
The Ulmer was the original head with this design. Then Easton purchased it and created a new division called Sevr.
And they improved greatly on that original design. They own all the patents, so no one can copy much of the design.
Is there any added noise in flight vs the 1.5’s?
I did not notice any; like I shared in the video, those blades are the same length as the deployment arms, and in the same area. So turbulence is already created by those deployment arms.
I have the 1.75 but I only shoot 56 lbs at 28 inch of draw total arrow weight 456 would have to assume would be just fine
Yes sir.
What Broadhead are u hunting with in your crossbow 2024
I use a lot of different ones. But Sevrs are my “go to”. I’d like to use this hybrid. I just had a second back surgery in the last two months so I have a lot of healing and rehab to do first.
Which do you prefer these or the evo hydes?
They’re both really good heads. I’d feel confident hunting with both. But it’s hard to beat the Sevr hybrid.
Is this crossbow friendly
Yep thats what he does his longrange shots in the test with!
Yes. As I showed in the video, I do my flight testing with a crossbow.
