    1:11:05 I am a security guard, and I can definitely confirm that if I heard something just start beeping, I would take a look at it, and then call it in while I am staring at it to make a good description for my DAR, supervisor, and/or potential incident report. I would not immediately conclude: "Oh this is a lure, I am being tricked!" I would think: "What the heck is that? Did something of ours just break or is at low batteries?" Once I saw it I would think: "Was this always here? I should probably ask my supervisor if this thing is important or not. I don't want to be responsible if something breaks."
    Because in my mind, what idiot would be dumb enough to try and sneak into a heavily armed and guarded military base? The thought that someone is sneaking around would be one of the last thoughts in my mind. Though, because I don't wear a helmet, I'd probably hear if someone was sneaking around behind me, and I would definitely look around after I reported it just to be sure. What is truly hilarious is that SK complained about the Kingpin being able to survive Spider-Man’s attacks, and loves to use Raimi’s movies as a point of reference, but just forgot that in Spiderman 2, Doc Ock is just a normal man with mechanical tentacles, and gets beat up and thrown around A LOT. Again he’s a normal human. Shouldn’t he be dead after his first fight at the bank with Spider-Man, according to SK’s logic?
    Edit: just to continue to point out SK’s utter ignorance and hypocrisy, at 1:12:47 in regards to Colin talk in about Miles, in SK’s rebuttal video, he says that he’s willing to look pass Miles’ mistakes in the game due to his inexperience, because he is fresh as a superhero. But when you watch his spectacular Spider-Man video, he literally criticizes Peter for not being able to do things, but ignores the fact that he is six months in as Spider-Man, and is 16 YEARS OLD. That “don’t stop to talk” thing is a clear reference to Madvocate and his videos talking about the Flash TV show. A running theme (Haha) in those videos is that he’s tired of Flash stopping to an obviously dangerous criminal and talks to them.
    The clear difference is that Flash moves faster than the speed of sound and can beat up super villains before they can get a word in, making Flash’s defeats all the more weird. With Spider-Man, he’s nowhere near as fast so him stopping and mocking Shocker was just so Shocker can get frustrated and make more mistakes so Spider-Man can beat him faster.
    He doesn’t really get why the Madvocate joke works because Flash has no actual reason to stop and talk to someone like Mr Freeze of all people then gets defeated by him. He just uses it to sound like he has a point?

    • @ayrtonjoga

      Exactly, another part S.K. misunderstands from Madvocate's criticisms is that he doesn't complain about everything being "unrealistic", or looks for every particle to find irrelevant mistakes like S.K

The first being Peter knowing his gauntlets are more powerful in how they hit doesn't necessarily translate to the potential of it's ability to tear through the webs. Especially when they look the exact same as the first encounter. The second is right after the first encounter Yuri asks if he knew a motive. Pete says he wasn't very talkative. So, Peter wears Herman down as you pointed out. Leading to "guys in masks might not be human".

  • @moviehermit5631
    @moviehermit5631 ปีที่แล้ว +386

    Fun Fact: In the prequel book to this game called "Hostile Takeover", at one point in the story, Peter's scoping out an event that he believes is going to be attacked by Kingpin's men, it's really a trap to make Spider-man look bad (from what I can remember), and Peter jumps in because he was worried for MJ's safety. Nothing bad happened because nothing bad was going to happen, but Peter charged in and screwed things up because he prioritized MJ above everyone else. This is what leads to their break-up in the story and is almost exactly what happens with Standish in the game
    Also, Dude criticized Spider-man for "pulling a CW Flash" then demanded he pull a CW Flash by having Peter appeal to Shocker's humanity. Peter's been dealing with Shocker for 8 years, he knows what would work and what wouldn't work, and pointing out the casualties (that never happen because nobody brings it up, not even Jameson when he's ranting about Spider-man. He only brings up the destruction of the chase, not any casualties).
    He also seems to believe everyone can just pull anything out of their ass.
    "Fisk should send in a bunch of guards to fight Spider-man because they're clearly all just waiting around in his office. It's not like Spider-man just took down all the guards between the entrance to the building and Fisk's office"
    "Martin Li should just break all the supervillains out of the Raft on his own b corrupting everyone, it's not like it's been shown that using his powers drains him of energy (especially since he's shared his powers with others and re-absorbs them when he needs an extra boost)"
    And with the FFH comparison of Peter "trying to weasel out" of a problem, the difference in FFH is that Peter doesn't believe he's up for the task. He's still dealing with the emotional backlash of Infinity War and Endgame and just wants a break, but still steps up in the end when he has to. He's 16 and allowed to have the flaw of not feeling good enough for a task

    • @no.1spidey-fan182
      @no.1spidey-fan182 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Isnt that still not Peter's fault cause Kingpin tricked him? He didn't know nothing wss going to happen, he thought that something was so he jumped in.
      And it makes sense that Peter is overprotective considering all the people he's lost so its still not a justfiable reason to just dump him if he only cares about her safety.
      I mean in this same prequel novel if I remember correctly Kingpin BLOWS UP a building where Peter's female coworker was at and kills her. Its not like Kingpin is someone he should ever give the benefit of the doubt too

    • @moviehermit5631
      @moviehermit5631 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      @@no.1spidey-fan182 The bottom line is that Peter fell for the trap because he prioritized MJ. It’s an understandable mistake, but it was the straw that broke the camels back for Peter’s and MJ’s relationship. Throughout the entire story, Peter’s been protective of MJ, telling her not to pursue anything related to Kingpin. While he is understandably right to tell her not to write anything about him because it puts a target on her back, we also have the context of MJ feeling insecure about not being able to help. Both are in the right in their own ways, it’s the miscommunication and certain actions that led to the relationship falling apart.
      And if I remember correctly, Kingpin didn’t order the restaurant to be blown up, that was the guy pretending to be Spider-man going AWOL (as shown throughout the story) because his mental problems led him to truly believe he was the real Spider-man and his life was stolen by an imposter

      MJ is a normal human that could easily get hurt or killed by the militant mercs and the crime syndicates, and whose injury and death would put Peter through untold amounts of grief he hasn't felt since Uncle Ben. Peter in Spectacular Spider-Man has had his powers for less than a year by the time the series ended. I’m pretty sure Peter lost the fight at the top of the RAFT, was because the area they were fighting in was a small roof. And Peter is definitely not going to let 5 of his rogues gallery just go because he retreated.
    The entire video was a mess. But I love the chaos sometimes and just laugh at how sometimes people can be so wrong. This video was a real treat. Thanks for the content, and you didn’t have to suffer through someone’s baboon brain behaviour of a video. But we appreciate it.

    He has a problem with Fisk getting beat into a wall while Mad actively advises Multiplying Man get bashed in the head with a pole, because both of these characters know how to control their strengths. Even with the argument that Peter wouldn't know who shocker is in this incarnation, Shock is easily able to output a greater level of destruction so it would just be weird that he'd die by being crushed by some scaffold

Spider-Man and Shocker have clearly crossed paths before this game.

Then that dude's rebuttal was."I am talking about the times Spider-Man kills in a cut scene. It's ok for him to do this stuff in gameplay." And then I basically repeated what I said, emphasizing that whether it is in a cut scene or game play, it still is not showing Spider-Man killing people." If Spider-Man actually killed people, the developers would have shown it, and JJJ would DEFINITELY use that as evidence for why Spider-Man is a menace. Personally, I find them to be a small break to remind you how powerfull Peter actually is, and how the normal people see and feel this larger than live events. And I find the gameplay entertaining too. I like to sneak past the enemies, being actually scared that the will see me. With Peter, most of the time, If you're spoted, It starts a fight, yet he doesn't die instantly. Miles and MJ are vulnerable, so this scenes are more tense.

Sure, it’s crazy that they would risk their lives like this because they don’t have any powers (in Miles’ case he didn’t) but I guess they’re just a heck of a lot braver than I’ll ever be.     Some things can be explained;
    First - As Spider-Man drags that goon through the window, he smashes it with his feet, not the goons head, and when tossing him, you can see he lands on other goons on his back.
    Second - The towers were just a gameplay mechanic to unlock the map, much like games such as Assassins Creed.
    Third - Anytime Spider-Man launches a goon off a roof, notice how everytime they have a trip mine attached to them, same can be easily applied to anyone flung from moving traffic.

    32:47 In addition to this, let's just play along with S.K. and use in-universe logic. Pete hid most of these backpacks in areas that are hard for the average civilian to get to (without heavy machinery or ladders). I doubt they would make all that effort just for a backpack. Same with Spidey's villains, why would they care about a backpack, hidden or not? How would they know or care what was in it? (Pete was actually big brain here IMO).
    But even taking into account ALL of that, if they found all this stuff in his backpack, why would they care? Sure it has Spidey stuff and personal stuff, but most honest people would just turn it in or assume it was a megafan of Spidey (like we assume the movers did with the stuff in his apartment when Pete got evicted). Or they'd leave it alone bc they know it's Spidey's and most of them love and respect him.

    What S.K. is either ignoring or just isn't aware of, is that Spider-Man is *ALWAYS* pulling his punches, because if he didn't he *would* be killing people with his super-strength. But since he holds back and doesn't use his full force, he's only ever striking his enemies with enough force to fight them - not kill them.
    Keeping this fact in mind, like 80% of S.K.'s nitpicks are made complete mush.

  • @izumolee6714
    @izumolee6714 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Also it is well known that Spiderman doesn't use his full strength unless he has too. Spiderman can easily kill people with his strength but he holds back. We see how strong he is when he stops the train in Spiderman 2....but he never killed anyone in that film or any subsequent film.
    Another thing is that i don't think the guy notices is that everytime Peter kicks a bad guy into a seemingly dangerous situation he webs the guy to prevent them from getting hurt. It's a blink & you miss it moment that the creators subtle put in the game.

    @Bobb11881 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I have a couple of things to say about those StoryStreet clips, and I'll dip into some spoilers for the second game here and there even though this video was made before it was out.
    I would argue to some extent against the idea that Peter sees everyone as one thing. Even in the first game, he knows Shocker is more than just a criminal, and he clearly expresses his belief that Tombstone can reform, despite the fact that he's introduced _killing someone._ Come the second game, this belief is proven correct as not only is Tombstone completely reformed, but Mysterio and Sandman as well. When Sandman relapses at the beginning, he says he wants to _help_ him, not stop him. This could be because of what he learned in the first game, but even in the first game he wanted to help Shocker when he realized he was being threatened.
    Another thematic aspect of the game that's even stronger in the second game is the duality between Peter's two lives. He thinks he _has_ to be Spider-Man because he can, and anything he chooses not to do could lead to someone losing their Uncle Ben. He has a kind of messiah complex. _He_ has to be the one to fix every problem, no matter how small, because he's seen a seemingly small problem spiral into something much bigger and more tragic. _He_ has to stop every robbery, because one of those robbers could go on to kill someone. _He_ has to stop those guys in Central Park from harvesting private data, _he_ has to deal with that hostage situation, _he_ has to find out which cars are causing that pollution, _he_ has to fix that building's water pressure. Not only does this lead to him making problems worse when he rushes into things without a plan or tries to solve problems he's not qualified to solve (like when the water towers start leaking or in the helicopter chase mission where he endangers countless lives because he didn't secure the helicopter properly and poorly improvised a plan to stop it, causing a crane to nearly crush people, a wrecking ball to slam into countless buildings, and the helicopter's tail to barrel down the street at high speeds; seriously, if S.K. wanted to criticize Peter for endangering innocent lives, the helicopter mission is RIGHT THERE), but it also costs Peter Parker dearly. He prioritizes going after Fisk over paying his rent, which costs him his home. He repeatedly prioritizes being Spider-Man over his job with Otto, which eventually leads to Otto becoming a supervillain, costing Peter both a mentor and an aunt. His Spider-Man-ing also puts a strain on his relationship with MJ, who feels useless next to him. In the second game, he prioritizes fighting Sandman (his responsibility as Spider-Man) over his responsibility as a teacher, which costs him his job and in turn nearly costs him May's house. Due to this, MJ is left paying the mortgage which further strains their relationship. Then when he gets the black suit, he thinks he finally has the perfect solution. All that stuff he felt guilty about before? Jeff's death, May's death, Otto's descent into villainy? He thinks the black suit would have prevented all of it, and now he'll never have to feel guilty about anything ever again. But all it makes him do is focus all his efforts on being a better _Spider-Man,_ once again neglecting his responsibilities as Peter Parker. He still thinks _Spider-Man_ is the solution to everything. He neglects his responsibilities as a boyfriend to MJ, a friend to Harry, and a mentor to Miles. All of his relationships suffer because he thinks being the perfect Spider-Man is "everything everyone needs [him] to be." It's because of him neglecting his relationships that Harry becomes Venom. By the end of the game, he fully learns that being Peter Parker is just as important and just as helpful as being Spider-Man, so he decides to take a hiatus from superheroing to focus on his personal life. After all, he doesn't need superpowers to make a difference, and the stress of being Spider-Man was bad for his mental health and bad for everyone else in his life. It's a reverse of what we usually see in Spider-Man stories, where the moral seems to be that him being Spider-Man _is_ more important than his own mental health and financial stability, and he just needs to find a way to balance his hero life with his personal life, and I _love_ this reversal. It's such an unhealthy and dangerous message to send that your own wellbeing should come secondary to that of others, and I love that Insomniac is deconstructing that and instead saying "How can you expect to help anyone if you can barely function?" People should be encouraged to take breaks if what they're doing is getting in the way of their mental health or relationships, and they should learn that they don't need to shoulder _every_ burden.
