It's a very pretentious thing that many critics say, sadly. You're allowed to like this bad (insert thing). It feels like they're trying to make *their opinion* fact even though it's subjective. People who say this are talking down to their own audience. That's like me not liking the Mona Lisa. Then when I go see it in a museum, I go up to some random couple and say "ugh fine. You're allowed to like this bad drawing." Do you know how pretentious and idiotic that sounds? That's basically many game critics
no it isn't? i feel like its just him saying that everyone likes stuff deciding of quality of said game, like yea it can be bad but its still liked, its not backhanded unless you want to think of it as so...
@OnlySayori it's not the ideal behind it that's bad. it's the way he had presented it that was. @Frogglen6350 said it best in their reply, where Mayo (and many other critics) try to make their subjective opinion into fact by stating that a game is decisively bad (despite critic and audience acclaim, plus the various points that counter Mayo's arguments), but saying how its okay, because you're """"""allowed"""""" to like said game. If he'd said it like "well, i dont like the game, but you do-- and thats okay" he would've been fine, but it was that snotty 'my word is law' that always ruins it in reviews like mayo's.
it's almost as if people like this Mayo dude love to hate on things with bad faith, knowing (but not caring) that they don't have a solid grasp on the topic at hand and just shove their uninformed takes on everyone's faces while pretending they're factual, and contrarians will eat it up and spew it back out to anyone who disagrees.
Exactly. I would say you don't have to finish something to have a negative opinion of it. If it failed to suck you in, that is fine. I just don't really get his argument because they are things that are impossible to for a game to demonstrate in only the first part of it. Like a game is never most challenging at the beginning. If you like the combat in the game, you should be willing to wait for it to get more challenging. The gadget integration point is about as dumb a point as possible. By his own logic, he should have quit arkham city because it made you use the rec gun too much. How are you gonna know if gadgets play a part in the game or level design if you don't play the game to see those things. His critisms, if he did not finish the game, should solely be about poor or clunky gameplay or an awful story or voice acting, etc.
i mean, if you dont like the game dont keep playing HOWEVER, this mayo jackass has gone out of his way to make game reviews/analysis his career, he doesnt have this excuse
@sunsetman22 yeah like I know him from his awful god of war review and if you watch the review he is purposely making the game look bad and then his sekiro review which I haven't played but one of his complaints was the game looks boring and the footage he used to prove his point was the most beautiful looking area and also with that game he didn't beat the game
Yeah, but I kinda agree with the arguments about the vr missions part and the way the upgrades are showned, that info could've been presented in a more effective and less intrusive way. Also I feel like Knerd justifying the vr missions argument with " but in Arkham City you can explore the open world" it's kinda dishonest, because he is ignoring the fact that in City you are guided to continue the main plot and in Knight you're shown a lot of glowy and flashy icons right next to you and they explicitly recomend you to do them. Other than that I think the critics were just dumb.
@@Batbraker36i kind of aggre with that but that is still just very minor, i mean mayo acted like it ruined the game and that is a massiv exaggeration, the vr sections are mostly optional and the shining objekt are not that annoying, mayo also complaind about the fear take down as if it was a bad thing and that i don't get at all, i think it is awsome and it just another option to batmans arsenal, also there are so many more enemies to deal with in knight so even with a fullt uppgraded fear take down it will still be plenty to fight and you could chose not to use it if he feels it makes combat to easy, mayos complaindt about the suit up part make no sens it just a short suit upp part somthing i belive asylum hade as well, and even if it was annoying who cares it is not long at all and I am fairly certain that it can be skipped as well if i remember correctly and even if it can not it does not last that long
Mayo claims that the Arkham Games take themself seriously but in City Batman literally beat the shit out of a Shark and if you die to the Shark the Game will tell you to use the Shark Repellent 😭, I'm not claiming that Arkham Games are not Serious whatsoever(that's blatantly untrue) but pretending the Games don't have over the top goofy shit is just not true
@@mrlitecoinActually I don't think the uncultured swine played Orgins. Ge talked about there being two prior games instead of three. Also that caralol scene is the 🐐.
Something nobody's brought up about the tanks is that they didn't need to hear Batman originally. They were made expecting Batman to be in the same Batmobile as he'd been using, such as the one in Asylum. (The one that bodied Croc.) They were not expecting a tank that can rapidly swap between high mobility and overwhelming precision long-distance assaults. The tanks DO almost immediately respond to you being in their view, and if you're not in combat mode they lock onto you effectively and almost instantly take their shots. They were designed to counter a fast-moving weaponless (Or barely-armed) Batmobile, even the Cobra tanks were meant to control chokepoints and trap the Batmobile. Again, it's made clear when you first field the car against the militia that they were NOT expecting just how powerful and resilient the new Batmobile is.
You're absolutely right on almost all of this, but wasn't the person who got hit by the Batmobile Bane and not Croc? I agree otherwise though, amazing points given.
I thought I'd give my opinion on the suit-up sequence as an art nerd. I know it wasn't the full intent for the scene in the first place, but suit up scenes are extremely cool to me because of the attention to detail and showing you how the suit works. From an art perspective, it makes a lot of sense that it would show this. I use suit up scenes to get inspiration and to learn how their suits move and stuff.
Yeah, as someone who wouldn’t really describe themselves as an art nerd (outside the niche of superhero costumes at least) I just think it’s satisfying to see all the moving plates
Wait till he starts complaining about Iron Man in the MCU. How dare those giant machines bring in those incredibly cool pieces and assemble them onto Tony's body. Boooo!
I love suit-up scenes for the same reason, even outside of Superhero media like in Dead Space 2 are always a joy to watch and makes the worldbuilding more believable Mayo really just wants to find something to complain for the sake of complaining
Why is a "masturbatory" suit up sequence filled with fan service a bad thing anyway? So the developers want to give the fans something, oh no, what an absolute tragedy!
On god he calls it masturbatory when batman suits up but when doom guy suits up into his armor "oh wow! Doom guys so cool this totally isn't the same as the batman suit up because it's doom guy" 💀
@@spartanq7781 basically, the Suicide Squad game from a while back (the one that killed off Arkham Batman) has a long winded speech from Harley Quinn about how Batman uses his money to beat up poor people, or something along those lines.
The fact that he states his opinion like fact when he says “its ok to like a bad game” is such a backhanded disingenuous statement that it makes me laugh
16:47 "Doom 2016 has silly stuff in it, and Doom Eternal takes it further. The Arkham games take themselves seriously..." - Harley Quinn being 1-punch defeat in Asylum and City - Harley Quinn getting hoisted up on Batman's shoulder butt-to-the-camera in Knight - fake game crash in Asylum - entire Joker fps section + Jokermobile in Knight - getting to literally burn Joker's corpse at the beginning of Knight - the horrible British female accents in Origins - Electrocutioner being 1-hit in Origins - Man-Bat jumpscare - Joker prank calls as Batman's dead parents in Knight - thug dialogue in every game You can't say the Arkham games don't have their fair share of goofy, silly, or not-100%-serious moments
Dude it's FILLED with jokes! I will never understand his point, Doom is an edgy game with demons and horrible monsters and gore, and yet, yeah I agree... it doesn't take itself seriously. "You can't just blow a hole into the surface of Mars" - a ridiculously over-the-top scene. The Batman games are LESS serious overall, and how can you see stuff like Joker's singing in Knight and say that it has a "dark tone"? Baffling.
Arkham has a similar tone to Yakuza. It has a serious plot broken up by entertaining character scenes and world building. You come for the crime thriller, stay for the banter
The funniest thing about his problem with the suit up scene is that it 100% has a point. Prior to Knight, Batman moves pretty slow. The maps are smaller, the need for mobility is significantly less important. With Knight, its a massive map, im pretty sure almost three times the size of City, the need for Batman to be SPEEDY is major. This new suit gives a canon explanation for why we didn't have an eject seat before. For better grapnel boosts. For fear takedowns. This is how the Batman dies. This also means that this is the Batman's *final suit.* Thats why it lasts. We are looking at the final iteration of the Bat. The ultimate version, and his most powerful suit. Yes, I'll admit in my eyes it's a tiny bit indulgent. But it has a strong point, gameplay wise and thematically.
Even more, a maximum 2 minute scene in a game as long as Knight should not be one of the listed reasons as to why Knight is a so-called 'terrible' game. Less than two minutes should not determine the value and quality of such a long game. It's like listening to a single Kanye West song, disliking it not for its content but for how the song is 'too long', and then suddenly say that every single song and album that Ye has made is dogshit because of the duration of that one specific track being more than you prefer
Arkham City is my favourite of the bunch, but this guy is reaching real far to hate on this game. There's legitimate criticism for the game regarding the story and certain side missions, but "the suit up scene is too masturbatory." Huh? That's the best you've got.
Mayo might gone overboard, but what surprising is a defense force for a 6 out 10 mediocre slop. Wait 10 years and we would have Suicide Squad defenders? Future is grim. 😢
@@xx_amongus_xx6987 if you're sweating your ass off and struggling against the basic thugs that's not really the game being hard, that's you being hot garbage. I have never seen someone be so fucking bad at it as he is, though, lmao. Which is kinda on point after seeing him try and play Elden Ring ngl.
@@crazagres1839 "if you're sweating your ass off and struggling against the basic thugs that's not really the game being hard" Buddy, Mayo's criticism of the game was that it was too EASY, not too hard lol. He wasn't struggling at all, he was just pressing random buttons and going through all the encounters without a thought. Doesn't matter if he was low health, because the game still let him just spam through every encounter. It should be ok for someone to not like Elden Ring.
Story pitch chapter 1: mayo (the villain) has made his way into Gotham he starts to kidnap batman and steals his suit he starts to impersonate him… (thats it for chapter 1 ill do chapter 2 and 3 later)
With ultrakill his complaints were a lot more subjective. Like he didn't like the integration of style meter. But it's a lot more cringe with Arkham knight.
@@Blaze72sH He used only the starting pistol to play the majority of the game and ignored the incentive for perfecting the game (Prime sanctums). Mayo made a response where to doubles down and never admits that games are subjective?? so you mean he’s doing the usual thing he always does? not surprising, he can’t handle differing opinions, and acts like those who disagree with him are unreasonable
@@Jasdewisafarmer Mayo criticizes games he dislikes with points that easily apply to games he does like. He criticizes DMC V for having it’a hardest difficulty locked upon a fresh save. He refuses to mention that classic God of War does the same thing. If you bring up those criticisms against the latter, he deflects. He criticizes Ultrakill for “not having an incentive to use weapon variety” (even though it does) saying that player input to do so is “arbitrary”. Weapon variety in Doom Eternal is also heavily arbitrary, as is use of the less used weapons like Full Auto CSG and the Plasma Rifle’s Microwave Beam. If you bring up those criticisms against the latter, he deflects. He calls the suit-up montage in Arkham Knight “Batman porn” as a criticism. Literally the same thing can apply to Doom Eternal’s cutscenes, those are easily “Doom Guy porn”. I’m sure you can see where that will go.

His weird doom obsession is so weird. Like I get liking it but he brings it up so often. I don't really like the doom reboot but even if I did I'd still find it weird how often he compares it to other games.
@whawhawhawhaaaa DOOM 2016 was mid and DOOM Eternal was a little bit above mid but was honestly carried by the music so it ended up being glazed to no end as a result. I played much better shooting games than the recent DOOM games. I'd go as far as to say Fallout 4 is a better FPS game than the recent DOOM game and that it offers a lot more depths with the combat than just muH weApOn sWitChinG that DOOM fans like to glaze as if it's some new feature in games.
@coltonwilkie241 I'm not a huge fan of the reboot games cause of their atmosphere. I'm a big fan of the first 3 doom games (1, 2, and 64) and imo the reboot feels completely different. The series has always been over the top but they also had a subtle horror atmosphere that I loved. The new games are just so goofy and stupid that I can't take them seriously. I also hate how doomguy is portrayed as being a godlike badass that is super cool and strong. But I agree that the games are just okay as shooters. There's nothing really special about them.
>Nitpicks the most unreasonable things possible >Creates problems that don't exist >He didn't finish the game, he complains that the game doesen't present him with a challange, but when the game finally challanges him he doesen't bother to learn the mechanics and then he start to say that the game is boring as an excuse >Arkham Knight is not the problem, he is
His brainrot will always think about Doom Eternal as when Doom gave him Challenge. He start to learn the mechanic. Anything Doom Eternal related. He will start bootlicking it. When people point out his hypocrisy of doing the exact same thing he done to other game but the people done it on Doom eternal. He goes on a Meltdown
I still don't understand why a one minute cutscene of seeing Batman suit up is such a big problem to him that it somehow affects the quality of the game. I mean most of his problems with the game are already just nitpicks, but that is one hell of a nitpick. He's just trying so hard to find reasons for why the game is bad that he just makes them up. You can just feel that he convinced himself into hating the game even before playing it. And also, no, I don't think anyone is qualified to review a game without even finishing it. I can understand if a game is so atrocious that finishing it is just not worth it, like Ride to Hell Retribution and the likes of it, but Batman AK is not that type of game.

He saved my soul, changed my heart, changed my mind, helped people through me, took care of people in my life, people I hurt before I found God. God is the only reason I was able to reconcile with my dad before he died. God worked through Jesus Christ to save our souls. Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins. Repent of your sins, accept God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit into your heart, that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins. For God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son Jesus Christ, that all who believe on Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Jesus Christ is The Way, The Truth and The Life. No one comes to the Father Jehovah God but through Him. Not long after I got saved I prayed to God for help understanding the Holy Bible, and that same day someone knocked on my door asking me if I wanted to understand the Bible. The Holy Bible says, "love thy enemy", "turn the other cheek", "If your enemy is hungry, feed him", "if he is thirsty, give him a drink", "pray for those who persecute you", "do not repay evil for evil". LORD willing, all humans may commit sin of almost every kind (gay, straight), and that's wrong, and all humans sin, as God tells us through the The Holy Bible, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." The Holy Bible also says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

Something that the Mayo guy doesn’t get about the suit up scene is that it was to flex on the new “next gen” tech of the time. That Batman suit, and the Batmobile, were massive technological achievements. And they only increased the suit up scene by 13 seconds like you said. That guy is so dumb.

Mayo's complaints about the suiting up scene are genuinely baffling. I have negative clue what he is going on about. I'm starting to think he just wanted to dislike the game and made a list of "reasons" post hoc.
Exactly what I thought as well considering a lot of his complaints aren't even exclusive to Arkham Knight and are present in the other Arkham games that he claimed to enjoy
It's always the same with Mayo -Makes Video filled with incredible stupid Takes -People rightfully call him out -Mayo makes a Response Video basically making fun of everyone else's opinions, because it has to be everyone else that's wrong, right? This guy also has really weird points of criticism. Mayo is the only Person I have ever heard complain about Style Meters & Player-controlled Camera. 😂
It's not just that he makes fun of people with different points, he also makes up shit that other people said just to have a point in the video. He can't attack other peoples points because their good, so he makes up shit to make fun of
Under the mayo is the same crybaby weirdo who pissed himself in anger over Sifu getting an easy mode. So, anything he says shouldn't be taken seriously
If he thinks Arkham knight is the worst entry to the Arkham verse he hasn’t played suicide squad b/c that’s 10x worst than any Batmobile section of Arkham knight

Also he talked abt stuff that weren’t even bad with the game like the bat suit up that’s so random
I think what makes his review worse is how he responded to people on his Batman porn take. He says he isnt calling anyone stupid for liking Arkham knight, but he also makes fun of people for liking Arkham knight and replying to comments by saying "I bet you touched yourself to Batman suiting up". Mayo has a massively inflated ego that he can't manage to control and always talks in a condescending tone to people who disagree with him. @@petrhofman929when people started giving him shit for talking bad about the game without finishing it. He said "the video is just a give up response"
Mayo wants to make a video on Knight to claim how it’s “clearly” worse than City, but couldn’t do the decency of _finishing_ just the main campaign? Shoot, even if he skipped the side missions I would’ve given him more credit but not like this. Either finish the game to make a review/analysis, or don’t finish the game and don’t make a video on it. Wants to have his cake and eat it.
1:00 I know. I don't like TLOU. I don't like the gameplay, and the story didn't wow me. Now, does that mean I have to go out of my way to say what's bad about the game? No. Just means I didn't like it, and that's that. I CAN be bothered by the time it took away from me and other, better games. Though if I did that, I'd be under the mayo.
And the worst part is that he'll never admit he's wrong or made a mistake. It's fine to have opinions, but making them sound like objective facts is hard to listen to.
4:22 - There is a mod that fixes that, that called "Full on Attack mode" 15:00 - He doesn't seem to complain when they do it for the Batmobile, after you rescue Ivy, you are forced to do a tutorial mission, instead of fight the tanks at Panessa Studios.
the problem with him is that he insists on being a game reviewer with the mind of a clam. his reviews at this point should not be taken as truth, as his recent reviews have only really been rage bait to keep his channel afloat. his very interesting fixation on batman’s suit up being “erotic” in some manner that he insists its almost like “batman porn” is ridiculous. there might be some underlying projection happening with him for sure.
@@Tefezilla yup, my guess is that he started the game with the mindset that he doesn't like it. Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with not liking Arkham knight, I wouldn't even be mad if people called it the weakest in the series but his arguments were really weak and made no sense (except for the batmobile part, I also don't like the underground tunnel sections, they put me to sleep).
I forced my friend to get Arkham knight because it was 2 bucks on steam,he never played a Arkham game before. But when he finished it he said that the best the game has played in a long time and said the game should be worth at least 50 bucks, but i told him this game is almost a decade old and he thought i am bsing.
The suit upgrade explaination is paid off when Arkham Knight shoots Batman in his weak point before the Miagani tunnel fight. It shows his enemy knows everything about him.
16:48 Even the serious Batman from the Arkham series allowed himself to be silly in the form of drawing the Bat logo using explosive gel. Or allowed himself to joke with the Oracle, Catwoman or some moments from Origin (The first meeting with Croc, that bandit in the Santa hat, the fight with the Electrocutioner, the cut “I am Batman” from the fight with Deathstroke)
I have a theory as to why the militia tanks don't have sophisticated sensors on their entire surroundings: 1. Is too expensive for the massive amount they made 2. They were meant to guard perimeters (more specifically cobra tanks), not really meant to fight the bat-tank 3. Due to the bat-tank being basically new and unknown, Jason and scarecrow did not expect batman to have a new batmobile with lethal weapons capable of destroying tanks To make it short: Basically, the tanks were meant to ward off the original batmobile (which didn't have weapons) which is why they're destroyed easily and also why they didn't put men in them, the original batmobile would've stood no chance, and if they were manned Batman could adapt and find a way to take them out the tanks by foot, which is what Jason wanted to prevent.
I always figured they used unmanned tanks since he is recruiting the people who washed out of the military and tank crews are going to be hard to come by compared to foot soldiers. After all you aren’t putting millions of dollars of equipment and putting it in the hands of someone who is a possible section 8 waiting to happen.
Under the Mayo. The man who attacked God of War (2018) and Ragnarok now attacked Arkham I wonder what game series he will target next. I wonder if he will go to the PlayStation Spider-Man games next.
When he was showing his street brawl in Arkham City, I really love how he kept pressing the standard attack button to try and counter the incoming attack - Rocksteady really should have put in some kind of counter attack move for this situation.... waaaaaiiiit a minute! Edit: to be fair, if it wasn't rage bait, saying "Arkham Night" would be thematically justifiable
The first time I played RDR2 I quit the game a few minutes into it just because of how slow paced it was compared to RDR1, I didn't want to play it because I had a negative experience with slow paced games before, yet I still pushed through like the rest of the games, now it's my favourite game of all time. Did I tell everyone to not play RDR2 just because it's slow even though I only completed 2 missions? No.
Ain't no way the SAME guy who criticized ULTRAKILL because he just doesn’t like using any weapon other than the default Piercer Revolver criticized Arkham Knight and STILL made a horrible review.
I mean... Mayo has shit takes like "add ammo to Ultrakill bc my Doom Eternal brian doesn't understand what style is and how it works and thus I don't want to engage with, thus unlimited ammo for everything makes the game boring"
Another thing about the suit scene in Arkham Knight, is that the suit being described plays a role around who the Arkham Knight is. Luscious describes the suit's tech, and later in the game, the Knight not only recognizes exactly what type of armor it uses, but knows how to counter it. It uses what is a seemingly benign explanation for the upgrades the player receive to build on the mystery of who is the Arkham Knight and how is he so familiar with Batman tactics and tech. He doesn't like the game, but will not admit it's a preference matter, so he stretches anything to make it so the game can be considered bad
I personally garuntee mayo saw people hated the batmobile sections and thought "ooooh that'd be a great talking point to get people on my side" without backing up with any opinion or facts that are valid
Here's the biggest takeaway from underthemayo: "I don't like thing, therefor it's bad." This is a mentality that should go away. He either has that mentality or he's being a contrarian for the engagement, which also needs to go away. It's fine if you didn't like something that other people do, that doesn't make it bad, that just means you didn't enjoy it for whatever your reasons are.
To say Knight doesn’t improve City’s and Origin’s gameplay and traversal is like saying DOOM Eternal (funnily Mayo being an elitist of the game) doesn’t build nor add to 2016’s gameplay and combat.
The reason Mayo complained about how Arkham Knight "was easier" is because he's a huge stickler for difficulty. He hates it when a game is easy because he thinks difficulty is the best and one of the only ways to force a player to use a game's mechanics and play it "correctly". If a game locks off its higher difficulties behind beating it, he'll hate it. Like with DMC5.
Guess mayo doesn't get that One of the reasons Easy mode is preferred for some people is because they can play how they want to. I beat the last of us 2 on easy JUST BECAUSE I wanted to go melee only and max aggression for most of the encounters. It was fun.
Did he ever say what difficulty he played on? Cause I doubt he’s playing on hard. And he definitely never got to knightmare or played any combat challenges, because they’re some of the hardest achievements ever
I remember that he hated Elden Ring because he wasn’t “forced” to go somewhere. He’s so focused on finding the one “right” way to play that he forgets that there’s more than one
clicked the video not knowing who you were talking about.... moment you said "under the" i had flashbacks akin to that one Vietnam soldier image meme even outside of ultrakill i can't escape is reviews
I love the cycle of under the mayo he releases a bad review of a game where he fundamentally misunderstand said game sees all of negative reactions and goes "man all of these people are wrong its crazy that keeps happening to me" then doubles down on his bad takes learning nothing.
This guy genuinely is the worst reviewer I had ever seen. Underthemayo forms most of his opinions on what he reviews based either complete and utter ignorance, lies, and even ignoring actual game mechanics despite being told by the game itself that he shouldn't do that. As seen in his ultra kill video where he ignores every single weapon other than the standard pistol and which he calls the game boring because of it. Or with his shifu review he calls it his game of the year and yet he's almost always complaining about it the entire video and a lot of his complaints are less with the game and more so an issue with the roguelike genre as in he criticized what makes a roguelike a roguelike and didn't like it.
I wouldn't even say he's critiquing anything because again half of the he's purposely ignoring game mechanics or in this case not even finishing the game. Can he really have an opinion when he has either nothing to base it on or just ignores what he game actually is. You could ask him if he even played the same game as you and it'd be an incredibly valid question.
7:02 the reason the combat is ‘easier’ is because you can cancel out of more attacks into counters. Like in City if you do a ground pound you can’t cancell that, in Knight you can. This is obviously a choice they made and not a negative, if anything it a great choice because you essentially fight armies later on.
Mayo is just one of those people who hate losing arguments or making wrong statements. They’ll fight their takes to the death and be stubborn so it doesn’t even matter trying to reason with him.
The only issue I have with Batman Arkham Knight is that there aren't any cool 1 v 1 hand combat boss fights. Should've had at least 3 with Slade, Azrael, and Jason todd when he was the villain. Other than that this game was phenomenal and one the best superhero games ever made. To say this game is bad is objectively wrong and for this guy to never beat the game shows you shouldn't take his critic seriously.
You do technically have a 1v1 boss with Jason, slade was already taken in origins and azrael depends on whether he fights the order or tries to kill Batman
I stopped taking criticism of Arkham Knight seriously with the biggest argument I found from a guy against it was arguing about the scientific inaccuracies about Joker infection. Yeah because that is less scientifically inaccurate than the Lazarus Pits or Venom and it’s variants.
Tbf it is really confusing, Batman is a joker but not like them. His blood was treated whilst theirs mutated. Blood VS fear toxin. Aka physical vs psychological
@@Yourfat247 Well he was only partially treated and it is implied that his willpower is why it took him so long to change. Not to mention while the other infected take on specific aspects of the Joker's personality that match their existing traits (The boxer gets his sadism, the singer gets his showmanships, the woman who had a miscarriage got his obsession with Batman, and the biology professor got his intelligence) Batman was supposed to get the full package.
I just realised, my first 2 runs of knight were critical because of the Batmobile argument, the 3rd run was on stream, and at the start of each stream I would do a race or 2, and would constantly use on foot in the main game completely immersing myself as Batman. I ended up completing forgetting that knight was a "bad game" because of the mobile and it honestly became my favourite game in the series to stream, having the foresight of certain events really allowed me to better roleplay as well, to the point that the ending to the main game had something like 8 different titles for the same stream based on Bruce's syche, and I wanted to fit a commemoration to Kevin in it too.
I want to add my own point to the whole "If I don't like the game, it's bad and I'm not playing it all the way through" thing. When I was young, I played Fallout: New Vegas. I, being the dumb kid I was, who had just played the more recent Skyrim, thought the main road was a mere suggestion. With how I play games in general, I just kind of go wherever. What happened is that I went the worse way possible to get to vegas, and my over-saving dumbass used the F5 key to quick-save instead of doing normal saves. So I had no other saves on my copy. When I used a quick-save, I had done so with a deathclaw being aggro'd onto me. So I was just in a permanent death-loop. It made me think New Vegas was a bad, unfair game cause my idiot-kid brain rationalized it that way. A few years later, I returned to the game, and guess what? It's now one of my favorite games of all time. I think Mayo just doesn't understand that sometimes, your opinions on a game, can be falsely made by the mistakes you've made. I believe his mistake was instead of taking the game's systems and thinking "What can I do with these to interact with the enviroment?" and more just brute forcing his way through. Just how I see it. Sorry for the damn Stephen King novel sized comment.
I vaguely remember that Under that Mayo guy from a video about RE4. So there was a video comparison about RE4 and it's remake. The guy who made the video simply titled it "Soul vs Soulless." There was no commentary, all the video saw were scenes from both games. Obviously the title was biased as it makes clear that original is better but the video itself simply lets everyone see scenes of the original RE4 and it's Remake and judge from themselves. For some reason, Mayo got so triggered that he made a video being obnoxious as hell, eating snacks mid sentences and acting like a child. It was at this moment i realized that this guy has nothing of value to offer and he is a poor critic.
The mission progression is something to suspend your disbelief on. Yeah, from a logic point, a lot of it doesn't make much sense. Two-face could rob a bank for multiple days, the fire crew will never die, etc etc. It isn't that hard to acknowledge. That initial hostage never dies, either. She's a hostage. I think Batman knows they won't kill him so he takes the time to test the suit before going in half-cocked, but that's only if YOU want him to. As stated in the video, it's optional. They're worth doing. You get an upgrade token after each one!
I’d love to see him get to Knightmare and try some of the combat challenges. For someone who loves difficulty, I’d love to see him crash out over Requiem for a Killer or The Curtain Falls
He really doesn’t understand that Knight’s suit up was overindulgent to show what the ps4/xbone generation can do. Not to mention, with someone who has Doom and Akrham as my favorite game series, they have more similarities than he thinks. This is just complete bullshit on his part.
@@Yourfat247 combat chess is the main and only thing, but each playthru i do of knight i like to go thru the game as efficiently as i can, similar mindset w eternal, just in context to each game’s gameplay, theyre totally different genres beyond that.
When I heard that you got a new suit in Arkham Knight, I was looking forward to that whole suit-up scene, especially considering with a new big enemy to face with a whole militia behind him, it’s only fitting that Batman evens the road odds with the Batmobile and the gliding and combat odds with the new suit I played both Asylum and City, and I felt this new titanium tri-weeve Batman was perfect for Arkham Knight
The street fights starting out easier in Knight also makes sense when you look at the game's stories. Asylum and City both have Batman be unprepared to be stuck in these locations and are locked out of a lot of equipment until he can either get Alfred to drop it in or make it himself. Knight has him start with a lot of his gadgets due to him coming straight from the Batcave into Gotham after Scarecrow's plan starts. You can even unlock some other gadgets really early because they're being held in the GCPD and Passedina Studios. You actively have more options out the gate because Batman was able to prepare to an extent for this game.
It genuinely baffles mme hiw Mayo can be this game reviewer and still struggle to review any game that isnt Doom: Eternal with any degree of sincerity. He did the same thing (a bit worse imo) to Ultrakill and refuses to budge. This ia just what he does now I guess, say something almost blatantly wrong about games he plays and then doubles down when anyone says he's wrong
First two games? That's his biggest mistake. First three games. Stop ignoring Orgins! I just finished City.....again and am about to play Orgins....again. Re-release it with the dlc already!
Rocksteady didn't make Origins, so it's a matter of perspective. If he's only referring to the Rocksteady games, then yes, there are only two previous.
My thoughts exactly. Really well said knerd! It's honestly hilarious how confident he is in his non-backed up takes. And the fact that he literally immediately contradicted himself about subjectivity and objectivity is just so stupid that it's funny.
I do enjoy watching under the mayo because I do find him entertaining to listen to. But whenever he says stuff like, “It’s not an opinion, it’s a fact,” you can’t really take his side on it. I enjoyed hearing his review of Arkham Knight. I personally love Arkham Knight, it’s my favorite game in the Arkham series and one of my favorite action games I’ve replayed time and time again. People say they don’t like it, I respect their opinions, they don’t have to like everything I like, and even if it’s for reasons why I like the game, it’s their opinion. But when you go off saying, “well you’re wrong for liking this,” or “it’s just an objectively bad game because of opinions I have,” that’s when you lose credibility.
"You shouldn't take it personally, we all like bad stuff from time to time" is so freaking backhanded
Don’t worry he was talking to the people who unironically watch his videos
It's a very pretentious thing that many critics say, sadly. You're allowed to like this bad (insert thing).
It feels like they're trying to make *their opinion* fact even though it's subjective. People who say this are talking down to their own audience. That's like me not liking the Mona Lisa. Then when I go see it in a museum, I go up to some random couple and say "ugh fine. You're allowed to like this bad drawing." Do you know how pretentious and idiotic that sounds? That's basically many game critics
He manages to say something that is true in the most condescending way possible given the context
no it isn't? i feel like its just him saying that everyone likes stuff deciding of quality of said game, like yea it can be bad but its still liked, its not backhanded unless you want to think of it as so...
All of his complaints about the game always connect back to him not actually beating the game.
literally, so all of his takes don't even matter because they are blatantly incorrect lol
it's almost as if people like this Mayo dude love to hate on things with bad faith, knowing (but not caring) that they don't have a solid grasp on the topic at hand and just shove their uninformed takes on everyone's faces while pretending they're factual, and contrarians will eat it up and spew it back out to anyone who disagrees.
His critisms, if he did not finish the game, should solely be about poor or clunky gameplay or an awful story or voice acting, etc.
i mean, if you dont like the game dont keep playing
HOWEVER, this mayo jackass has gone out of his way to make game reviews/analysis his career, he doesnt have this excuse
The fact that he argued about a suit up scene is actually embarrassing
That's just sad fr.
For real.
“Ugh, Arkham Knight is just Batman getting upgrades, look how COOL Batman is, how dare he look COOL”
Like- …what?
That suit up scene was dope af too
Yeah, but I kinda agree with the arguments about the vr missions part and the way the upgrades are showned, that info could've been presented in a more effective and less intrusive way.

Good point. 👍

From an art perspective, it makes a lot of sense that it would show this. I use suit up scenes to get inspiration and to learn how their suits move and stuff.

I have a theory as to why the militia tanks don't have sophisticated sensors on their entire surroundings:
1. Is too expensive for the massive amount they made
2. They were meant to guard perimeters (more specifically cobra tanks), not really meant to fight the bat-tank
3. Due to the bat-tank being basically new and unknown, Jason and scarecrow did not expect batman to have a new batmobile with lethal weapons capable of destroying tanks
To make it short:
Basically, the tanks were meant to ward off the original batmobile (which didn't have weapons) which is why they're destroyed easily and also why they didn't put men in them, the original batmobile would've stood no chance, and if they were manned Batman could adapt and find a way to take them out the tanks by foot, which is what Jason wanted to prevent.
I have the answer to this theory.
It's a videogame
@@johnins0mnia584 I know, but its fun to theorize

Another thing about the suit scene in Arkham Knight, is that the suit being described plays a role around who the Arkham Knight is. Luscious describes the suit's tech, and later in the game, the Knight not only recognizes exactly what type of armor it uses, but knows how to counter it.
It uses what is a seemingly benign explanation for the upgrades the player receive to build on the mystery of who is the Arkham Knight and how is he so familiar with Batman tactics and tech.

The overreliance on the Batmobile hurts the traversal overrall.
Honestly more difficulty does not always equal better game design.
If you want to see what I mean just play Mega Man X6
Guess mayo doesn't get that One of the reasons Easy mode is preferred for some people is because they can play how they want to.

It was fun.
Did he ever say what difficulty he played on? Cause I doubt he’s playing on hard. And he definitely never got to knightmare or played any combat challenges, because they’re some of the hardest achievements ever

@@JayceCH.he is the definition of misinformation and just bring very negative when you are half way in the game

Ayee thanks for the recognition boss, appreciate it!

8:21 he doesnt know what game progression is bc he quits every game 2/3 of the way thru lmao
Is there a lore reason why Under the Mayo won't stop yappin'?

You know I hate soul soulless mayo is toxic asshole
You know hate mayo because he’s a toxin asshole
The mission progression is something to suspend your disbelief on. Yeah, from a logic point, a lot of it doesn't make much sense. Two-face could rob a bank for multiple days, the fire crew will never die, etc etc. It isn't that hard to acknowledge. That initial hostage never dies, either. She's a hostage. I think Batman knows they won't kill him so he takes the time to test the suit before going in half-cocked, but that's only if YOU want him to. As stated in the video, it's optional. They're worth doing. You get an upgrade token after each one!

When I heard that you got a new suit in Arkham Knight, I was looking forward to that whole suit-up scene, especially considering with a new big enemy to face with a whole militia behind him, it’s only fitting that Batman evens the road odds with the Batmobile and the gliding and combat odds with the new suit
I played both Asylum and City, and I felt this new titanium tri-weeve Batman was perfect for Arkham Knight

People say they don’t like it, I respect their opinions, they don’t have to like everything I like, and even if it’s for reasons why I like the game, it’s their opinion.
