I Bought a Suspiciously Cheap PS5 SLIM...

- So Best Buy was already selling "open box" (basically used) PS5s at the same exact time new ones were available on release date?? And then to make things even weirder, they had this open box "fair" PS5 available for purchase, for almost $100 off, 2 days after launch. So you know I had to buy it...

I have too many PS5 slims now
You should consider selling them.
I would love to own one … I’ll pay shipping 😊
everyone wants one ☠️
i can help u with that dw
Gimme one 😆
I have two theories on the immediate open box. Either the box was damaged in some way (box itself or seal), or Best Buy was getting ready to set up display consoles and opened too many.
The second one might have had a broken seal or something on the box. It's a common thing where I live that if the seal is broken it's not allowed to be sold as "new" even if it has never been used. Or maybe something hit the box and they had to check the insides and that caused the seal to be broken.
Yuuuuppppp. Worked at another major retailer and they do the same thing. If the seal is broken it cannot be sold as new.
Yeah for sure, that seems to be the case here. Just strange how many open box consoles them seem to have right at launch. Must’ve been a bunch of seats broken in transit? Idk
They could sell it as niob (New in Open Box)
Unless it’s Gamestop😂
Lol i bought mine from target and i noticed it was a open box but i paid full price:( o well it works perfect
I bet that's why they returned it. They stole the code for the game then returned the PS5.
Someone I know did this. Bought the PS5. Took the game returned. Got money back and a free game. It's actually common
I just don't know how best buy allows this. I'm not sure if you saw my other video about best buy recently, but I purchased a sealed copy of spiderman 2, returned it sealed, and then best buy sent me back a used copy and said I can't return a used copy (even though I sent them a sealed copy). So it's just baffling to me that people are getting away with returning consoles to best buy in which they've stolen the code. I guess it just depends on the employee doing the return.
@@jrob0021 not just bestbuy my buddy has done this at Walmart also. I do not condone it but I can't stop it since they have allowed it
@@jrob0021 The employees most likely don't get paid enough to care to tell the person no on a return.
@@miridorablesomeone cared enough to reject my Spider-Man 2 return 😂
Whoever returned it just wanted the game code.
thats what i am thinking. easy way to get a free game
@@Gimli8621I wouldn’t even play or install MW3 if someone paid me a thousand dollars. 🤣🤡
They don’t check to make sure the code isn’t scratched off??
@@eddi3401no we just have to check if the console is there
@eddi3401 they wouldn't plus customers tend to lie and be like, "it came that way."
It’s common for managers to open box items that were beat up in shipping. I’m guessing that’s what the second system is
I was thinking about it while watching and I’m more than certain it could have just be shipping errors or issues in the receiving departments. At any point it could have got damaged before reaching the store or shelf. So “opened box” could just mean the console was fine but the package was messed up.
Definitely could be, but this is the first time I've seen best buy immediately selling open box consoles (like at the exact same time the console came out). There also seems to be a ton of the open box ones available, as they've been in stock ever since release date
I know that Amazon does that especially with electronics . When they get a damaged pallet in , it's easier to simply list them as being open box or good used with possible small cosmetic flaws .
@jrob0021 People purchase these consoles bundled with games, usably claim the game and return the console, nothing to do with displays, people just want the free game.
@@jrob0021 true that. I guess we’ll never know but id agree I highly doubt they just so happened to have a bunch of shipments simultaneously get ruined on the way to their store
I just got mine today checking into best buy. It was originally $414 without the game. I was able to get them down lower with the usb cable and the stand missing. With all said and done i paid 375 total.
You know the slim is gonna suck when there’s already open box copy in stock three days after it released
Chill, they prob just got it to finesse MW3 🤣
@@babyfinesse_ what about the ps5 slim at the end of the video that was open box 7 days before release though... lol
general rule for me buying any refurb is that the discount needs to be really good. I would not take a chance on anything for only saving like 25 bucks. If they get too many returns they might start getting better refurb deals for these things.
So I would keep an eye out for open box specials at all the places that offer them cause you know the good deals are going to be out there but you gotta be quick to get them so good luck fam.
I think Best Buy itself brought PS5 slim and resold the system themselves.
I work at Walmart, not Best Buys, but assuming things are somewhat similar the box for the second console was most likely damaged or opened in someway in transit. They would then be completely opened to see if anything inside was damaged and if not it would be sold as open box.
Maybe the slip cover(s) are used for display/POS purposes (or advertising reasons)? It could be that they are taken out of the packaging, photographed (for the website?) and then put back into the packaging to be resold; albeit as open box without the packaging? Just a thought? (The console would have been in store a short while before actual release date, after all, and the publicity materials would need to be prepared? Maybe there was an embargo on this before hand. It could explain a few of these issues?). Just saying.
Somebody bought it reviewed it and returned it, like quantum tv allegedly does with tvs.
I bought a PS5 spiderman bundle last week then 2 days later, the stores released the same bundle in the slim model. I bought the slim version and returned the 1st one but I did leave the unused game code inside the box. Chances are employees take it or whoever bought it keeps it as well.
Point is in my case, I returned a brand new 2 day old PS5 because of the slim version being released.
The original is better than the slim.. better looking and better built.
prob the owner's gf or wife got mad that it was bought lol.. has happend to few friends of mine
😂
I live in the UK and normally for staff training the staff are allowed to take home or have a staff training days with new consoles so they know what they are selling at launch so that will be why the have open boxed ps5 and why the free game will be gone on one and not on others
Hey ! Man I used to work for BB and also have bought a series x like that it usually happens when someone buys it and then returns it (basictly mom gets mad with kids for grades ect.) they return it and they charge the 40$ packaging fee to them and they have to sell it open box (missing game, cords, ect) and since it not excellent they have to put the fair tag!!!
It’s simple. Someone buys a ps5 and brings it home, their spouse goes “Noooo, u gotta take it back!!!” Then Best Buy has an open box ps5 slim after launch
Former Geek Squad Technician: The process for open box back when I worked there was just any returned device gets returned by customer service where a pop up shows what accessories should be included. Geek Squad then takes the device to verify it's working (usually before the return) and after the return, they are supposed to reset it and print the open box label. If there are manufacturer defects, it gets sent out of store. So it's understandable that they had PS5 Slim's the very next day.
If anyone wants an open box TV, check back the day or weekend after the Superbowl 😂 Lots of people buy a TV for that one day and then return it
Good to know for later
@@nicholasmarshall8430 yeah they just gave me staggering info, definitely gonna be on high watch for that.
When i worked at bestbuy the manager allowed us to set up new game counsols in the lunch room for the employees, however if the consol became low stock or no stock they would return it back to the store inventory as openbox or refurbed.
My best guess for the second PS5 is that it was used to actually test the console before release. It did have good box packaging, a week before release, and looked in like new condition.
The GameStop near me already has used PS5 slims and they said it’s because people bought them without realizing it was the slim model, didn’t like it and returned it for the original model. Didnt think you could exchange open box consoles at GS but that’s what they said when I asked.
Didn't like it? What?
2:45 "scratches to be expected" THE SYSTEM BEEN OUT FOR 3 DAYS, MY GUY!!!!
All these bad experiences with Best Buy and yet we keep coming back. 😂
I don't go there very often anymore and especially since they will stop selling physical media
This is why physical media is important.
That happens because people buy it then realize they cannot afford it and return it. My buddy did that twice with walmart with ps4 VR headsets. He bought one, then realized he had to pay rent and returned it. As for the one that was open box before released, if the packages get damaged before being sold they have to be sold as open box. So somewhere along transportation to best buys warehouse the box got ripped and then had to be checked per policy hence why it's been opened. And then sold as open box.
I might be on that boat. Just plugged in my Slim and am kinda indifferent about it. Might pick up the OG bundle instead.
Are you gonna keep the code like this person did though? Haha
Honestly id keep it. They are a little quieter.
@@jeffrothegameri must be half deaf, i never really hear my ps5. Unlike my ps4 at the end would sound like a 747 engine.
Pretty obvious someone bought this system to review it, and then returned it
I'm wondering if that was like an early review model like some influencer bought just to do a review of and then returned it because they already had one
That sticker is put on almost every product in Best Buy the sorting center/warehouse puts those on to categorize products to palletize them and ship them to stores
I brought my ps5 slim digital with spider man 2 bundle at Best Buy for $400 sale in march and I love it
My question is why would someone return a brand new console with a opened box
I forget which console but when I was younger I bought it release date and then couldn't afford my bills so I had to sell it back lol. Maybe something like that happened
i’m glad u put that “12 days ago” clip in cuz i was thinking “i literally just heard this man say he was done w BB” 😭😭😭
1:53 genuinely thought this was a regular sized ps5
Someone at Best Buy has had these consoles out in the staff room 😀
I think this is a case of somebody who bought it just to use the game code and then returned it.
The thing is the ps5 slim has the codmw3 bundle and people buy it to redeem the game only to have it return to get the full refund meaning they get a free game.
Indeed
You got a basically new ps5 slim for 25$ off and you got mw3 for free with it
The slip cover is probably gone because it didnt include the game. Best buy probably took it off so you wouldnt assume it came with the download code
Bought a ps5 slim for 260$ brand new in box with Spider-Man2 amazing deal
The first one an employe probably bought it and took the code. The second one probably the box got damaged at the warehouse.
Probably the seal got ripped or they fucked something up and had to check if it works
I bought a ps5 slim digital for $500 total and thinking of returning it
>buys ps5 slim
>opens it and takes game code
>returns it
>leaves
People buy the bundles take the game codes and return them. Hear it happens alot
The price won't go up. Black Friday Sale is just a marketing gimick. You're not getting any sort of deal buying a PS5 for $500.
Stopping kids from saying “First”
Yes please
I agree
Yall act like it physically pains you when they do it yall weird fr
@@ArachnidEdits_you have Roblox in your pfp. Your opinion is invalid.
first
Wait, so u can just buy the ps5 normally, then get another one with a game but return the console and keep the game for free?
Plot twist. The person who returned it was Jacob. He wanted to expand the Best Buy saga so he retuned the console and then waited 2 days for an open box one and then bought the same console he returned
If I’d have done that, I wouldn’t have driven to a Best Buy 1.5 hours away.. lol. I also bought my ps5 slims at launch from Target, not best buy
OMG. It’s the man himself responding to my comment. I didn’t know you would see it lol
I'm curious if a Best Buy employee can comment and explain how they have Open Box PS5's at the same time as launch day. Wonder what's going on internally when that happens
Walmart has controllers for $50 and ps5 consoles for $499 right now for "black friday" deals. Includes the mw3 and spider man bundles.
What’s strange is you don’t know how credit card fraud works
I saw that at my Best Buy app as well
BestBuy employees have access to stock days before, so you'll sometimes see strange things like this...
I just bought your PS5 slim, Thank you!
Guy probably did this to get the game for "free". And return and get his money back and keep the game.
It was 100% used solely to get the same, and to make a youtube review. That's why the plates came off easily, why there are smudge marks over it, but no real use time. They "bought" it, got the game, showed it on their channel, and then took it back and made out like a bandit.
The one with the bkue tape is super fresh !
“I bought this ps5 and I just hope it’s not a chili dog”
Someone bought it and then remembered they needed to eat
Best Buy I can't quit you.
Someone bought the PS5 to get the free game code then return the system and got there money back. That’s probably what happen here. WOW.
Either a customer bought it and redeemed or sold the code for the game and just returning saying somethings wrong with it. Or an employee did the same thing i just mentioned.
Uhm why did i find one on Orange for 150? (5 a month)
I hate it that all the ps5 consoles come whit long light scratches on the cheap black plastic I feel scammed
If I had to guess without looking at comments I would say that the open box ones are probably ones that employees got early and maybe just tried to sell them back? Or they were some kind of testing bench.
For those Black Friday deals you're getting a game that just came out for free with the console. So yeah they'll raise up to $560 after Black Friday.
Most likely a parent got it for their kid then the kid was ungrateful or was bad and they returned it
Opened box 7 days before release...
Wearhouse boys be havin' some fun.
4:01 some TH-cam open it up and returned it
That person couldn't have gotten that game for free because don't Best buy charge a $50 or more restock fee?
Following
Maybe a child was acting like a gremlin and his parents returned it as punishment?
bro I have $83 saving for a ps5 rn 😂 was considering just getting a ps5 pro in 2024.. still on the ps4 slim btw. Also great video the ps5 slim is good but I fear the OG ps5 is better in terms of cooling, dont want to be playing on a microwave now do u 😅
I love this video and I watch him in I was in high school 🏫 ❤❤.
Obviously to me someone bought it just for the spider man code for his FAT PS5 and returned it because he already used the code and already had a PS5 to use the spider man code
Employees getting free games 😂
Sometimes people buy something expensive, return it, wait one week for open-box discount.
I received a ps5 disc version for my birthday August 16th 2024
Strange Best Buy....
My guess is someone bought it just for the game and returned it
Dude wanted a free game. Returned it without the MW3 cover so the employee doesnt ask about the game???
I’m thinking a young child used their parents credit or debit card and bought this console behind their back. Managed to get the console in the house without the parents noticing, tried setting it up and maybe succeeded? Barley played it, and then the parents find out what the kid has done and takes the console back to Best Buy and gets a refund.
I was thinking a misbehaving child losing it as punishment parents ripped cord outta wall while it was still on
@@ChefDAlessio could be that too lol
Spending $500 to get a free game code…… like cmon they have the dam game at the library! Re4 remake, mw2, god of war, Rachet & clank etc
Alternative Comment: Dropped or damaged in transit, outer slip case too damaged for sale, opened to try the console to make sure it still worked, sold at a slight reduction; as cheaper to do than return? Just another few thoughts.
Would not recommend buying from best buy open box i bougth a "excelent condition open box"it was a elite 2 controller description said only manuals missing employes wanted to give just the control no extra buttons no charging station no back buttons and the control was broken they were saying "thats why the price" i could buy a beat up control on market place for way less than 130$ and yeah thats what they wanted to chargr me for a mess up control so dont buy even if they are in "excelent" they basically said is the same thing for excellent good or fair condition
Someone almost definitely bought the console to check it out, maybe made a TH-cam video or something, kept the game, and returned it likely with a small fee for it being damaged.
I sold him this XBOX real shii✅ 0:18
Maybe Sony sent them out to certain people for testing/reviewing. Then sent to Best Buy to be resold as a open box……
I'm willing to bet that the open box from day one got their boxes or console cosmetically damaged in shipping
"Ima cut best buy off"
Best Buy : Nu uuh jacob we have slim for discount
Jacob : well when you put it that way.
😂😂😅
That's exactly what happened 😂😂
You really love PS5😂
I didnt even knew that a "slim" is out
They probably exchanged it for another one since there where scratches on it.
My first one was scratch I return it for other one at GameStop
Lol, I got one pre owned, like new for $350... All these shitts not expensive. You Just have to know where to go and buy them.
Did someone get free dlc and then return it?
Mine was 350 at Walmart in some Black Friday deal 🤷♂️
I have a idea why it got returned
Someone’s son may have bought it on there partners credit card and then they found out and returned it
Wait you have to have Internet to even use the disc drive it doesn’t even come with a physical SpiderMan 2 game no wonder they returned???
Yup the original doesn't need internet and the original comes with a free stand as well.
Someone prolly only bought it to take the digital game
fr
It’s an easy way to get a free game
