    Those volume and tuner controls are actually variable resistor/potentiometers and that neat little trick in the vid is ONLY a temporary "fix"...the cause of the issue is carbon deposits on the graduated resistor contacts inside precipitated by a breakdown of the cheap semi-conductive lubricant....the only permanent fix is to remove and dismantle each potentiometer ,remove the bad lubricant ,carefully clean the deposits from the contacts and brushes, lube with very thin application of DeOxit DL100, and carefully put it all back together.....I have permanently repaired thousands volume/tuner controls this way hundreds of which were 2010 to current year Nissans.....even high end signature automotive sound system in Japanese premium lines and some Europeans are just cheaply constructed disposable Chinese junk....

    • @DrDemp
      @DrDemp  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @acarguy73 Temp fix? Sure, everything is temporary as nothing lasts forever. This is the official TSB fix from Nissan. However, I added my trick with the drill to save my wrist from doing 50 in a row 🤣
      Thanks for the additional information sounds like that would definitely last longer adding some cleaner and lubricate but the average car owner would end up breaking something trying to disassemble these.
      This fix is much more reasonable in terms of a 30 "second fix".

    I just bought a 2020 Murano about 3 weeks ago. It did this since I've had it and it was quite annoying. I saw this video and went out just now and just spun the knob with my thumb for 1 min CW then a min CCW, then another min each way, and in about 4 min, it's FIXED! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! for this tip! I had a feeling it was something like that. I previously had a Maxima that never did that, but I used that knob all of the time. The previous owner of this Murano may not have not used it, and was also a heavy, heavy smoker (there is evidence) I think it was just boogered up with all of that, and just needed used and cleaned off. Again, I thank you. 🙂

    you can also just pull the knob off and hit it a few times with a can of contact cleaner or electrical cleaner, fixed it in about 30 seconds! Optionally you can hit it with cleaner and use a can of air to dry up the contact cleaner. It evaporates fast on its own but it helps make it a cleaner fix for your screens, etc.

    So many people have this issue. It's like Nissan didn't even test their damn radios. Worthless QC department.
    It's more than just the knob, the entire head unit is wanky. Is I got a big bump or push on the screen, the volume does up and down and the other knob function starts going crazy and changes the song and everything. And the way they made the fall, not too many companies sell aftermarket until for this body style.

      I agree. Bad quality control on Nissans part and this affects many diffrent models and years throughout production.
