    Thanks Mike. VW were saying I had to replace my whole head unit because I was having this problem with my Golf. The quote was $2400 for a new head unit. Saw this video. Quick trip to SuperCheap and $11 later radio volume knob working perfectly. You saved me over $2000! Legend!

    • @MikesManCave
      @MikesManCave  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow that’s great. You might have to repeat the process as it’s dirt / dust causing the problem. If it comes back just repeat the clean. 👍

      2000$ for a new radio is crazy haha. They're like 150$ for a good one brand new. And like 30 minutes to install. So someone almost made 2000$ an hour.

    Thanks Mike. Volume kept going up by itself, used WD40 and it worked like a charm. I have a cheap radio with BT which is all I need and saved me effort and money in replacing it :)

      Glad it helped, You might have too redo it in the future, WD40 is not ideal as it will attract more dust, buy some electrical contact cleaner, it's pretty cheap and will get the contacts nice and clean.

    So awesome. Fixed it quick. Used WD40 Electronic Part and Contact Cleaner. I'm so jazzed. Was wondering if I had to buy a whole new stereo. But I like the old school knobs on my original CD player. So big thanks man. I really appreciate it 👍

    Dude... Thank you so very much! I was considering having Best Buy install a new stereo (probably $600 for the touch screen I wanted) in my minivan but this worked like freakin' magic! I used the WD-40 version whilst in the very Walmart parking lot where I purchased it for $8.00-ish. Great info, dude! Be blessed.

    • @MikesManCave
      @MikesManCave  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes WD40 now has it available here, I will be buying that one in the future. SCA is a generic store brand from Supercheap Auto, an auto accessories chain we have here in Australia. You might have to repeat as it's dirt and dust in the mechanism.

  • @Kelteclover

    • @MikesManCave
      @MikesManCave  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It cleans the contacts, but when they get dirty again the problem will return and you will need to repeat. But beats buying a new stereo.

    • @MikesManCave

    Nice one Mike maybe you need to put one of them little straws on the nozzle to get a better blast in the gap. I must get to supercheap and buy a can of this and also the plastic drip tray. Cheers 👍

    • @MikesManCave

    The electronics cleaner is a temporary fix. I tried DeoxIT FaderLube and worked for me.

    • @MikesManCave
      @MikesManCave  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Everything is a temporary fix, it's a design fault, once the contacts get dirty again the problem will return no matter what product you use.

  • @mbusonkosi3283

    This seems to be a problem with a lot of pioneer radios, a have a different unit but same issue

    • @MikesManCave
      @MikesManCave  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The newer units seem to be better, this problem will come back as it's caused by dirt/dust build up. So you will need to keep repeating this procedure.

    Thank you so much for this! My 2010 fit factory volume dial was all jacked up. It’s not a good feeling when you want the volume lower and it only Keeps going up and distorting. This trip fix my issue. A used factory unit may need re programming and most yards don’t know these radios ask for a code whenever the power is disconnected. The code is in the glove box and if this parts off a used parts shelf with no code it’s useless. Again can’t thank you enough
